Chapter 1 - New Places, Old Faces

Naruto was having a normal day just like any other. No god-like beings trying to take over the world or other such cataclysmic events, only him and his ramen. The 17 year old war hero sighed in contentment, slurping up the noodles with gusto.

Teuchi chuckled at his number-one customer and placed another bowl of miso ramen in front of Naruto. "Try and taste it this time, Naruto," he joked.

As per usual, Naruto ignored him and tore into the bowl like it was his last.

Ayame cackled from the kitchen, "You're never gonna find a girlfriend if you eat like that!"

The blond furrowed his brow and spoke with a full mouth of noodles. "What's wrong with how I eat?!"

Suddenly, a hand clamped viciously down on his shoulder causing Naruto to yelp in pain. "Everything, dobe." Looking up from his ramen with a surprised look on his face, standing before him in all her glory was Satsuki. Her long silky hair framed both sides of her face and her eyes glinted in veiled amusement at his expense.

There was her all-too-familiar smirk that curved her wry lips up, and even though it was one of superiority and dark intentions, it brought a genuine smile from her teammate.

She glowered at him as he smiled brightly at her.

"...What're you looking at me like that for, idiot?"

"Satsuki! When did you get back?!"

The young woman winced and cleared out her ear with a finger, "First of all, stop yelling in my ear, I'm right next to you. And second, just now."

She pulled up a chair and sat next to the whiskered teen.

Without missing a beat, Naruto began chatting with Satsuki, telling her about his day, the training he's been doing, how Tsunade wants him to take more responsibility, and all about how much he missed her even though she was only gone on her mission for 3 days.

Throughout it all, Satsuki remained ever silent, only humming and nodding when Naruto looked like he was looking for a response. Despite that, they both were comfortable with this arrangement. Satsuki was more than willing to allow him to carry the conversation.

He hadn't noticed her inching closer to him for the last 30 minutes.

"Naruto."

He stopped and looked over at her with those glistening blue eyes and for some reason she felt her throat clam up. Swallowing dryly, Satsuki spoke, "I need to submit my report to the Hokage about my mission."

'Coward,' she berated herself in her head.

"Alright, I'll come with you. I needed to speak with baa-chan about something anyway."

"About what?"

"Dunno, she just said she needed to speak with me some time today."

"Alright."

He paid for his meal and the two slipped from Ichiraku's and slowly meandered their way to the Hokage's Tower. The street was rather sparse, it was still rather hot out as summer was just reaching its beginning. The heat was even getting to him.

Satsuki seemed ever-so-cool with her soft face set in a permanent glower but even he could notice the small beads of sweat that rolled off her forehead. He pouted, feeling jealous at her stoicism. Her charcoal eyes were fixed ahead.

"Ah... It's really too hot," he complained, fanning his face as if that would help cool him down. The blond had already taken off his orange jacket and was left with only his fishnet undershirt.

'...What the hell is wrong with me?' Satsuki thought. When Naruto's attention was caught by something-or-other, she glanced at him from the corner of her eye. He was only in that fishnet shirt so she could see everything.

Sweat beaded off her brow as she felt herself heat up for reasons other than the weather. 'I must be going insane...'

Her eyes flashed into her Sharingan and she quickly memorized the image before reverting her eyes back to normal and glaring ahead. The only telling sign anything had happened was the light pink color that dusted her cheeks.

'Grrr...' she stomped forward quickly, evidently leaving Naruto to yelp and quicken his pace to catch up with her.

Finally, they made it to the tower, she had marched up to the very top and Satsuki burst through the door.

Tsunade fumbled at her desk, seeking to hide something from her sudden visitors with a startled look on her face. "Oh, it's just you."

The Uchiha merely crossed her arms under her bust and raised an eyebrow.

The Senju clicked her tongue and rubbed her forehead. "I thought you were Shizune for a second."

"Mission completed, everything went as expected." She went on to further elaborate on the specific details of her mission before a blond hyperactive ball slammed into Tsunade with speed that made her think of his father.

"UGH!"

"BAA-CHAN!"

"NAAAARUUUTOOO!"

Her fist slammed into his face, sending him crashing brutally into the wall.

Satsuki simply stared at the interruption with lidded eyes and a very, very small smirk.

"What do you think you're doing just charging in here with no thought?! What have I told you about this?!"

Naruto moaned in pain, holding his face where she punched him.

"I didn't knock out your last brain cell, did I? I still need you to hurry up and take this hat from me and you can't do that if you're a vegetable."

Springing to his feet with unparalleled recovery, the blond smiled at the Hokage brilliantly and sheepishly walked over to the two women from his place on the ground. He rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment.

"Naruto, you can be such a dobe sometimes."

"OI! TEME~!"

"ENOUGH!" Tsunade felt like she burst a blood vessel. "You two can deal with your sexual tension outside of my office but for now, zip it!"

Both Naruto and Satsuki blushed bright red at that comment and fell as silent as the grave, not daring to speak lest they draw attention from the other. They stole side glances at each other before quickly looking away once they noticed the other doing the same.

Tsunade sighed and pulled out the bottle of sake she hid behind her desk when Satsuki first startled her and poured a drink. Making sure to drink her fill, she chugged down enough alcohol to tranquilize a horse. Finally bringing her arm up to wipe her mouth, the gorgeous woman spoke with frustration, "Naruto, I have some bad news..."

The hyperactive ninja brought his hands to his chest and nervously let out, "What is it, Baa-chan? Someone didn't die, did they?!"

"No-"

"Phew! Wait! Don't tell me you're making Satsuki Hokage and not me, right?! Because she was totally joking when she said she wanted to be Hokage!"

"No, Naru-"

"Is there something wrong with your back, granny-"

"NARUTO! SHUT UP BEFORE I STRANGLE YOU!"

"EEP~!"

Tsunade cleared her throat. She looked angrily into his eyes and told him, "Your apartment's been broken into."

"Eh...?" He once again scratched the back of his head in confusion until it finally clicked in his brain what she said, "EHHH?!"

"Someone unknown to us managed to break into your apartment and completely trash the place. It's royally screwed up from top to bottom. Looks like whoever did it wasn't even trying to be subtle."

Satsuki narrowed her eyes.

"W-what? My apartment...?" Naruto bemoaned.

"And not only that but the health inspectors have recently informed me that the structure is too unsecure for you to live in right now. You'll have to find another place to stay while it's being repaired."

"How am I supposed to just find a place to stay, Granny? Are you sure I can't just sleep there?"

"Unless you want to die in your sleep when the roof collapses over your head, I wouldn't recommend it, brat." Tsunade took the time to lean back in her chair and take a sip of her sake. She had forgone the cup for the ease of the bottle. "You're pretty resourceful. I'm sure you can find somewhere to stay and if not, it ain't my problem. You're a ninja. You'll figure it out."

"S-Satsuki... Pleeeeeaaase~?" His sapphire eyes grew large and watered in sadness causing Satsuki to freeze up unintentionally. Naruto stared at her, begging her to let him stay with her while his apartment was being fixed.

"Pleeeeeeeaaaase...?" The more he looked at her the more he reminded her of a kicked puppy. Looking down at his fishnet shirt with a slight blush she couldn't help but think he was a rather cute puppy.

Shaking her head slightly to rid herself of certain thoughts, Naruto mistook her for refusing him.

"O-oh..." He sighed, head down despondent that she would reject him, "I guess I can ask Hinata if she-"

"No." He looked up at Satsuki at her blunt interruption to see that the normally beautiful woman had the scariest face he'd ever seen on her and that was saying something. It seemed that everything bright suddenly died around her as her spinning red Sharingan eyes glared into his.

Daring to speak, he asked, "But where am I going to stay? Hinata's nice and I'm sure she'll help me out."

The Uchiha matriarch grabbed his arm and held it aggressively to her side. Her curvy body almost seeming to meld into his as she forced him into her clutches.

"No."

Naruto gaped at his normally unflappable friend as she seemed so against this idea for whatever reason. Tsunade just grinned as she watched her two favorite ninjas with a sip of sake from her bottle. The older woman held back a chuckle as she noticed the gorgeous Uchiha suppress a small blush at having her blond grandson so close to her.

Deciding to cause a bit of chaos, the Hokage threw a stick of dynamite into the conversation, "I actually think it could be a good idea for Naruto to stay at the Hyuuga compound with Hinata. After all, she IS single and rather beautiful. Maybe you might find yourself a girlfriend after all of this, Naruto."

The hyperactive blond sputtered in embarrassment, trying vehemently to deny that that would ever happen. "B-Baachan! What d'you mean?! Hinata's just a friend and we could never be together! Not that I would be opposed to it but there's just no way that could happen!" He rambled nervously to Tsunade trying to clear things up.

Satsuki, still clutching him to her side, grit her teeth in fury. She tried to light Tsunade on fire with her eyes; the older woman was laughing at her situation from behind her desk.

"Well, maybe Sakura has a spare room I can-"

Naruto was yanked by Satsuki who was dragging him by his arm to the door. Her nose scrunched up cutely in hot anger and she let out an unladylike huff. Tsunade, rather humorously, thought she looked quite like a furious bull.

"Huh...?" Naruto mumbled blankly.

"You're staying with me, dobe!" The Uchiha princess stuck her nose up and began pulling the blond to the exit.

"I better not see any babies until she has a ring on her finger, brat!" Tsunade couldn't help herself, sending out one last crack at her favourite duo as they made their way out the door. Was it risky embarrassing the most powerful, unstable Shinobi in the whole village? Sure. But the red-hot blushes on both of their faces made it ever-so worth it.

"BAA-CHAN~!"

"AS IF I WOULD WITH HIM~!"
