The Saiyan Devil
Chapter 31
Hit vanished into his time-skip dimension but knew he had to act quickly if he hoped to defeat Hyoza. Though he had grown stronger, Hit found he needed help to enhance the effectiveness of his Time-Skip technique. Constrained by his mortal nature, Hit's abilities were limited, yet he persevered, making the most of the tools at his disposal.
Hyoza raised his right arm and slammed it forcefully behind him without a glance. The figure of Hit burst forth from his dimension, a deep red bruise on his face betraying his pain. In a flash, Hyoza's body materialized in the path of Hit's flight, and he spun around, his tail whipping with tremendous force before slamming into Hit's back.
Hurtling downward with no control, Hit slammed into the ground, creating a massive dust cloud that billowed in all directions. The impact left a crater two kilometers wide, with Hit's body tightly embedded in the center, like a yolk within a cracked egg.
Hyoza came crashing down, prompting a startled scream from Hit. But the assassin's shrill cry was silenced as Hyoza's tail coiled around Hit's head and hurled him skyward. Hyoza then raised his hands, unleashing a volley of azure blue energy beams that streaked across the dark sky, radiating an aura of destruction.
Bombarded by a relentless barrage of blasts, Hit retreated into his dimension for safety. He kept his distance from Hyoza, but as he emerged from his dimension, a devastating force struck him head-on, causing his vision to darken.
Hyoza's vague words dripped with a mocking undertone, even as they seemed to praise Hit. "I'm impressed," he continued, "I'm impressed with myself. Given the separate dimensions we're in, I didn't think I'd be able to track you down."
Hit's body lay sprawled on the ground. A trickle of blood seeped from his nose. His skin-tight undershirt, riddled with holes, did little to conceal the burn marks searing his exposed skin.
"You're outmatched, assassin. Now, I demand to know who sent you to come after me."
Hyoza noticed Hit's subtle grimace. The frost demon remained motionless, his deafening silence exuding an eerily frightening muteness.
Torn between his mission to kill Hyoza and his client's instructions to tell the identity of someone else besides the employer, Hit grappled with an inner conflict. Despite his familiarity with the Saiyan race, particularly Celeon, the deception involved weighed heavily on him.
As an assassin of his caliber, he should have had no moral qualms about the Saiyans being falsely accused. Yet, this decision proved one of the most difficult he had ever faced.
After taking a deep breath to steady his nerves, Hit spoke up. "The Saiyan King has taken notice of your steadily climbing power, which has caused him great concern. As a result, he has decided to eliminate you before you can pose a threat to anyone else."
Hyoza's eyes narrowed, a small smirk playing at the corners of his lips. "So, that bastard has resorted to dishonorable tactics?"
Hyoza's gaze locked steadily on Hit. "Very well, I'll kill you first. Then, I'll focus on Planet Sadala - a target on my radar for some time. This confrontation provides the perfect excuse of 'self-defense' to justify my actions."
Hit activated his Time-Skip ability by clicking his teeth, quickly distancing himself from Hyoza. The assassin then rose, running his hands over his body before tearing off his tattered shirt. Hyoza's brow furrowed as he narrowed his eyes, sensing something was off about Hit.
Hit clenched his fists as a veil of purple energy suddenly enveloped him. He bellowed, his power skyrocketing in response to the surge. Hyoza, standing nearby, watched with rapt excitement.
The sudden influx of energy rippled through Hit's body, causing his purple skin to glow with an intensified radiance. Although the transformation lacked the grandiose displays of Super Saiyan or Frost Demon forms, the subtle change still caught Hyoza slightly off guard.
Refrain from wasting more time, Hit rushed at Hyoza. Though Hit's stance was narrow, it was perfectly guarded. Hyoza noticed the increase in speed but remained unfazed, his red eyes locked with Hit's as he brought his tail forward to block Hit's punch.
Hit flashed a faint grin and vanished in the blink of an eye. Hyoza scoffed and whirled around, punching at the empty air. His eyes widened as his strike met nothing but air before a sharp pain lanced through his spine, propelling him forward.
Hyoza rapidly spun around on his hands, his eyes darting from side to side before settling into a spinning whirlwind. Unfazed, Hit responded by activating his Time-Skip dimension and striking Hyoza with a forceful kick to the ribs.
Hyoza's mouth erupted with blood as the kick's impact overwhelmed him. Though the pain was far more intense than before, he refused to let it disrupt his battle rhythm. Hit's sudden power surge had caught Hyoza off guard, but he remained confident it was not insurmountable.
Hyoza vanished, materializing high above, his body angled downward, arms outstretched, and fingers pointed at Hit. Firing another barrage of azure energy beams, Hit gazed upward, his crimson eyes tinged with blue.
At Hit's slightest movement, time froze around him. The azure light beams hovering overhead ground to a halt, enabling Hit to evade them swiftly. Hit materialized before Hyoza and unleashed a flurry of rapid punches in the blink of an eye. Hit restored the normal flow of time with another flick of his fingers. Reeling from the blows, Hyoza spun around, lashing out with his tail in a desperate attempt to strike Hit.
Hyoza's eyes widened in disbelief as his attacks failed to land on Hit's seemingly intangible form. "Did I underestimate my opponent?" Hyoza wondered, a tinge of worry creeping into his thoughts.
Sensing Hyoza's vulnerability, Hit exploited the opportunity to amplify the power of his Time-Skip again. This heightened state acted as a multiplier, akin to the Kaio-Ken technique that inspired this state. With this, Hit knew he could win this fight.
AN: Short chapter again, but after this is uploaded, the next chapter is already being written. As you may have noticed, this chapter is a bit different than my old chapters; I think I did well writing this one. Thanks for reading this chapter and giving the story a chance despite the rough beginning. Like always, feel free to let me know your thoughts.
I will also explain Hit's version of Kaio-Ken in the next chapter.
