Chapter 27

Meiko continues on showing Moroha the other articles that would intrigue the quarter demon, but Moroha immediately feels pretty bored. "Is something wrong, Moroha? I though that you'd like this club." Meiko asks with a hint of rejection in her voice.

Moroha shakes her head. "No. It's not that. I just wanted to know where the approval seal is." Meiko looks confused. "What are you talking about an approval seal?" Moroha opens her phone to show an example of the approval seal on another club's flyer. "If this were a club, you're supposed to have this on your flyers." She explains to Meiko.

Meiko waves it off, "Oh my. I wasn't informed about that part. I thought that if you wanted to create a club, you need to have flyers around the school." Moroha didn't see that coming.

"But what about the principal herself? She has the authority to confirmed rather or not the club is official or not." Moroha points out a fact.

Meiko giggles at that. "Oh, Moroha. You mind it hard to believe but the principal is my aunt on my mother's side of the family." She shows a charm on her right wrist. Once she takes it off, her human ears become cat ears as well as her eyes are green, along with clawed hands and a grey tabby tail from behind.

Moroha definitely didn't see that coming. "Ok, I'm so sorry for being rude. I just thought that you're just a human, not a demon when I first met you."

Meiko smiles, "It's alright, not only does the charm makes me look human but it also masks my scent." She said as she puts the charm back on to transform into her human disguise. "According to my aunt, she doesn't want anyone to know about my relationship with her. She thought that being human here would suit me just fine."

Moroha nods. "I would've known by scent wise since I'm a quarter dog demon." She said to her after calming down from her outburst.

Meiko blinks a few times. "A quarter demon? I never knew such a being existed. Could one of you parents be a half demon?" She asks Moroha curiously. Moroha nods, "Yeah, my father is. His father was the great dog general of the west, while his mother was human." She only tells Meiko about that part.

"But the twins that were with you, you all had the same scent." Meiko said to her. Moroha shakes her head. "Nah that's their business to tell you that part. If you want to know, you should ask them that yourself."

Meiko nods back, "You're right. Even if you know them, it's best I don't ask because it can be uncomfortable. So I'll leave it alone."

A knock on the door gets their attention. It was Mai.

Meiko on the other hand doesn't seems too thrilled about seeing the female bull demon. "What is it that you want Mai?" She crossed her arms. Moroha didn't see this coming either. She decides to stay quiet.

Mai grins as she walks around the classroom with a fake smile, "Oh, I just wanted to see how the new club is coming along. Oh, I see you have the quarter demon here with you. Is she a member?" Mai asks Meiko.

"For your information, I'm the club leader so if you have any newspapers to bring in, I'd appreciate it if you show respect to this group." Meiko growls at the female bull demon.

"Oh. My apologies, I do have something here. Ah here we go, but it'll cost you something." Mai smirks as she holds the town's newspaper in her hand, swinging it back and forth.

Moroha squints her eyes to keep a close look at the front article. 'Prisoner escapes from facility.' Not to stand by any longer, Moroha runs rather quickly and snatches the newspaper away. Mai gasps, "Hey give that back." Mai tries to confiscate the newspaper. But Moroha puts it into her backpack with a lock mechanism on the zippers so that no one but her can open it.

"Uh uh uh, I happen to have something valuable that includes you, and we don't the school to know about it." Moroha said rather harshly to Mai.

"You're bluffing. You can't blackmail me." Mai retaliates to her.

"And you can't bribe either. So which one will it be Mai?" Moroha walks around the bull, "I mean let's face it. Even in this day and age that people who put someone's reputation in their hands. Especially here at school. You should know that there's security cameras and microphones around. It may be a violation of privacy, however, there have been a few crimes caught in the act, or in this case, caught on camera. So if I were you, you better back off and leave this place alone if you know what's good for you. After all what would the school do if they were to find out about your little secret." Moroha practically threatened the bull demon.

"Moroha, what are you doing? Don't provoke her. The last time a student did that, he was clobbered." Meiko whispers into Moroha's ear.

"Don't worry about it, Meiko. I know what Mai would never do." Moroha calms her down. Mai turns around, giving Moroha that I-got-my-eye-on-you gesture.

As soon as the bull left the classroom, the twins peek through the nearest lavatory door. "Do you think Moroha went to far on that one?" Towa asks Setsuna. Setsuna narrows here indigo eyes. "She's always like this, Towa. For if she makes a friend and if that friend is in an awkward situation, she'll do whatever it takes to protect that friend. I for one am impressed how she warned Mai."

They enter the classroom to see Moroha open her backpack and hand over the newspaper to Meiko. "Good thing I kept it safe."

Meiko smiles, "Thanks Moroha. It means a lot to me. I know that this club isn't meant to expose someone's personal life, it's meant to get students interested in the subject. Now what is today's article about. She gasps.

"Meiko what is it?" Towa asks her. Meiko closes her eyes tightly and hands over the article to the trio. "Prisoner escapes from facility." They read the article.

The prison in the remote location has had its one prison to escape the property. According to the guards who pursued the escapee somehow lost the prisoner to the waters below the cliffs. They believed that the prison perished in the wretched waters, thus ending the search.

The group are in shock to learn this. "Say Meiko, when you first saw the article, you were a bit scared about it. Do you know who this prisoner was?" Moroha asks her in caution. Meiko nods, "Yes. You see, I came across that person a few days ago. That person was a woman and she somehow managed to survive the fall. I was able to tell because I've visited someone else at that prison and I was able to tell that she was from there due to the scent of the place."

Towa and Sestuna can tell how uneasy Meiko has gotten. "Was this person important to you?" Setsuna asks her this time.

"Not by blood, but by possession." Meiko tells them. "What do you mean by that?" Towa asks her. Meiko sighs and gestures them to sit down at the round table. "This is going to be a long story for you to know and you are not to say a word about this to anyone. Understand?"

"Understood." Moroha, Towa and Setsuna said simultaneously, as well as turning on the miniature cameras and microphones to hear Meiko's story.
