Half of the school year had passed, the students recieved an important email from lemillion. As the students of Class 1-A were gathered in their classroom, eagerly discussing the previous day's mock battle. Despite the exhaustion in their limbs, the excitement and pride of their success were still palpable.
Attishiro was sitting with Koyomi, Mizuki, and Hiroto, all of them exchanging high-fives and animated conversation, when the door to the classroom suddenly slid open with a soft hiss.
"Sorry I'm late," a voice called from the doorway.
The students turned to see a tall, lanky boy with dark brown hair and piercing gray eyes standing in the threshold. He wore the standard U.A. uniform, but there was an aura about him that made him stand out from the rest of the class.
Lemillion, who had been standing at the front of the class, smiled and nodded at the new arrival. "Everyone, meet Ren Kuzan, the new transfer student from Class 1-B."
Ren stepped inside, his posture relaxed yet confident. His eyes quickly scanned the room, a hint of curiosity in them as he took in his new classmates. He gave a small wave before addressing the class.
"Hey everyone. Ren Kuzan, nice to meet you. I'm transferring from Class 1-B," he said, his tone calm but with a slight edge of mischief. "I'll be joining you for the rest of the semester."
Koyomi, always quick to introduce herself, grinned and stood up. "Hey there! Welcome to Class 1-A! I'm Koyomi. Looks like you're going to be a part of our team now!"
"Ren Kuzan, huh?" Hiroto muttered, examining the new student carefully. "What's your Quirk?"
Ren's expression shifted slightly, a smirk forming on his lips as he folded his arms. "Shadow Manipulation," he said casually. "I can control shadows, use them to create constructs, or even merge with them to move through walls and other obstacles. It's pretty versatile."
Mizuki tilted her head, intrigued. "That's pretty cool. You can basically vanish into thin air with shadows. Sounds like it could be a powerful Quirk in stealth situations."
Ren nodded, his eyes glinting with confidence. "Exactly. It's great for quick strikes and stealth, but it takes a lot of practice to control it properly. That's why I'm excited to be here. I'm looking forward to learning from everyone."
Attishiro watched the exchange, feeling a bit of tension rise in the air. He could sense that Ren wasn't just any ordinary student; his calm demeanor and subtle confidence suggested a lot of experience, likely from his time in Class 1-B. There was no doubt that Ren would be a force to reckon with.
"Well, Ren, glad to have you with us," Attishiro said, offering a friendly smile. "I'm Attishiro. Looking forward to seeing how your Quirk works in action."
Ren returned the smile, though there was a certain air of mystery about him. "Likewise, Attishiro. I've heard a lot about your Quirk—Divine Thunder, right? Sounds impressive."
Attishiro chuckled, feeling a little self-conscious. "It's a work in progress, but yeah, that's the one."
Lemillion, who had been watching the interaction with interest, clapped his hands to grab the class's attention. "Alright, enough chit-chat! Let's get down to business. We're going to put Ren through a few exercises to get him integrated into the class, and then we'll see how he works with the team in some practical drills."
The rest of the class spent the next hour getting acquainted with Ren's abilities during a series of exercises. The students were impressed by Ren's control over his shadows. At one point, he created a set of shadowy tendrils that twisted and swirled around him, responding to his every command with precision. When Mizuki attempted to sneak up on him, Ren simply stepped into a shadow, vanishing from sight before reappearing behind her in a flash.
"Okay, that's not fair," Mizuki muttered, her eyes widening. "You just disappeared!"
Ren's grin widened. "You'll get used to it. It's not just disappearing, though. I can also solidify the shadows into tools or weapons, like this."
With a flick of his wrist, Ren conjured a long, shadowy blade from the ground and twirled it effortlessly. It was a smooth, seamless transition, and his control over the darkness around him was undeniable.
Attishiro couldn't help but feel a growing sense of excitement. "That's impressive. You could be a real asset in any combat situation. But it seems like your Quirk relies a lot on the environment. If there's no shadow, can you still use your powers effectively?"
Ren paused, his expression turning thoughtful. "That's where it gets tricky. Without shadows, I can still manipulate my own shadow, but it limits my range. In brightly lit areas, it becomes harder to make bigger constructs. It's definitely something I have to plan around, but I've learned to make it work."
"Interesting…" Koyomi said, her voice filled with intrigue. "So, in a fight against someone with an ability that manipulates light or creates intense light sources, you might be at a disadvantage."
Ren nodded, his tone acknowledging the point. "Exactly. But it's all about adapting. I've had to face opponents who used light-based Quirks before, and I learned to counteract it by using my own shadows creatively. It's all about strategy."
Hiroto, who had been listening intently, spoke up. "It sounds like you need to be resourceful. It's not just about power—strategy will be key for you, especially in team scenarios."
Ren raised an eyebrow, a challenge in his gaze. "Sounds like you've been thinking about how my Quirk could fit in already, Hiroto. I like that."
"We all need to think ahead. That's part of being a hero," Hiroto said, a small smirk tugging at his lips.
Lemillion stepped forward, his energetic tone filling the space. "Alright, now that we've seen a bit of Ren's abilities, let's get to the next part of the day—team drills! We'll pair off, and each team will be tasked with different objectives. I'll be keeping an eye on everyone's performance, but this will also be a great chance for you all to see how Ren operates in a real situation. Let's see how you all work together!"
The class quickly formed teams, and Ren was paired with Attishiro, Koyomi, and Mizuki. It was clear that Lemillion had designed this pairing intentionally—Ren needed to learn to work with Class 1-A's more established members, while the others would get a feel for his strengths and weaknesses.
The students were split into mock combat zones, each designed to test their teamwork. Ren's team, with Attishiro leading, found themselves in an urban-style training area, full of barriers and hidden obstacles. Their task was to neutralize a villain, represented by a simulation drone, and rescue a group of hostages before time ran out.
As soon as the drill began, Ren disappeared into the shadows, his figure blending seamlessly into the darkness of the alleyways. Koyomi, Mizuki, and Attishiro took the lead, moving in sync, but Attishiro noticed how quickly Ren had adjusted to his surroundings.
They approached the simulation villain's hideout, and just as they prepared to breach the building, Ren's voice came through their earpieces. "I'm already inside. Give me a moment to secure the hostages."
Attishiro raised an eyebrow, impressed. "That was fast. Let's move up."
With Ren's help, they were able to disable the villain's traps and neutralize the threat without much resistance. His ability to appear and disappear at will made him an invaluable asset for stealth-based objectives, and his shadow constructs provided extra strength in combat situations.
Once the simulation ended, Lemillion appeared beside them, a look of approval on his face.
"Great job, team! You worked well together. Ren, I can see that you're going to fit in just fine here with Class 1-A," Lemillion said with a proud smile.
Ren shrugged nonchalantly, but there was a spark of satisfaction in his eyes. "Thanks. I guess I can keep up after all."
Attishiro smiled to himself, his thoughts already turning to the challenges that lay ahead. With Ren now part of Class 1-A, their team was stronger than ever. But one thing was clear—having Ren on their side would make the road to becoming true heroes even more exciting and unpredictable.
