Chapter 3: Trials of Heart and Pride
--
As the Konoha 12 and the delegation from Shinzoku continued their discussions in the Hokage's office, the interactions among the group became increasingly lively. Rias's natural charm and presence had already captivated several of the Konoha 12 boys, who were now conspiring to make an impression on her, all while Naruto remained oblivious.
With a plan forming among the boys, they each began their attempts to get Rias's attention.
Kiba, always the boldest, stepped forward first. "Hey, Rias," he said, flashing his best smile, "if you ever need a tour guide for the village, I'd be happy to show you around. I know all the best spots."
Rias smiled politely but didn't seem particularly interested. Her gaze shifted subtly to Naruto, who stood nearby, talking quietly with Sirzechs. "Thank you, Kiba," she replied graciously, but her attention quickly turned back to Naruto.
Shikamaru stepped up next, looking as if he were reluctantly dragged into it by his friends. "If you'd like to know more about Konoha's strategies and culture, I'd be happy to share." He gave a casual shrug, aiming for his usual laid-back charm. "I mean, no one knows the village better than us."
Rias chuckled softly. "Thank you, Shikamaru. I appreciate it," she replied. But again, her focus drifted to Naruto, who now seemed a bit uncomfortable with Sirzechs's talk of marriage alliances.
Neji and Sasuke exchanged a quick glance, knowing they each had a strong reputation to lean on. Neji approached next, giving her a polite bow. "Rias, you're an impressive presence. I can see why the Gremory family values you so highly. If there's anything you wish to learn about our village's traditions, I'd be honored to share."
Rias gave him a kind smile and nodded in gratitude. "That's very considerate, Neji. Thank you." However, as soon as he finished, her gaze softened as she observed Naruto, clearly amused by his slightly awkward expression. She seemed fascinated by his honesty and humility, more than any attempt at flattery.
Sasuke, confident and composed, merely nodded in her direction, hoping his silent strength would make an impression. He stood nearby, looking at her thoughtfully, but once again, Rias's attention was diverted as Naruto turned and met her gaze with a curious expression.
Finally, Rock Lee, full of energy, declared, "Lady Rias, your beauty is as radiant as the fires of youth! If you ever need someone to demonstrate the spirit of Konoha, I am at your service!"
Rias chuckled, hiding a small smile. "Thank you, Rock Lee. I can tell you're a very passionate person."
Ino, Sakura, and the other girls looked on, feeling a pang of irritation as they watched the boys line up, each trying to impress Rias. They exchanged glances, clearly unamused.
Sakura crossed her arms, her gaze drifting over to Naruto. "Are they really all just going to embarrass themselves like this?" she muttered to Ino.
Ino scoffed, nodding in agreement. "Honestly. It's ridiculous. She's not even interested in them!"
Rias, noticing Naruto standing off to the side, smiled and took the opportunity to close the distance between them. She walked over to him with a confident stride, her eyes shining with interest.
"Hey, Naruto," she said softly, smiling up at him. "Would you mind showing me more of the village? I'd love to see it from your perspective."
Naruto blinked in surprise, scratching his head. "Uh, sure, Rias. I'd be happy to."
As Naruto led her out of the Hokage's office, the rest of the Konoha 12 watched in dismay, realizing that all their efforts had fallen short. Rias had chosen to spend her time with Naruto, who hadn't even tried to impress her.
Kiba crossed his arms, muttering, "How come she ignored us but practically chased after Naruto?"
Rock Lee, equally deflated, sighed dramatically. "Perhaps it's Naruto's true spirit of youth that shines so brightly in her eyes."
Shikamaru shrugged, his gaze lingering on Rias and Naruto as they walked away. "Looks like it's beyond us. Typical Naruto luck."
Meanwhile, Sakura, Ino, and Hinata felt a fresh wave of irritation. Hinata, in particular, struggled to mask her disappointment as she watched Naruto walk away with Rias.
Ino nudged Sakura, crossing her arms. "Can you believe it? All of them lined up for her like she was some sort of princess, and she's only interested in Naruto."
Sakura's expression was a mixture of annoyance and reluctant acceptance. "Yeah, it's kind of frustrating," she admitted. "But it's Naruto. He's got this weird way of drawing people to him."

Meanwhile, with Naruto and Rias…
Naruto led Rias down one of the village's quieter streets, feeling slightly nervous but doing his best to act natural. "So, this is Konoha," he said, gesturing to the bustling shops and colorful stalls around them. "It might not be as grand as Shinzoku, but it's home."
Rias looked around, nodding with genuine interest. "It's charming. And besides, a place's worth isn't in how grand it looks—it's in the people who live there."
Naruto glanced at her, surprised by her insight. "You're different than I expected. You seem… down to earth."
She laughed softly. "Well, I guess I don't always fit the 'princess' image that people expect of me. I value honesty and strength—and it sounds like you do too."
Naruto nodded, grinning. "Yeah. I guess I do."
They continued walking, and Naruto showed her some of his favorite spots around the village. As they passed Ichiraku Ramen, his favorite place, Rias raised an eyebrow, looking intrigued.
"Ramen, huh?" she said, noticing his enthusiastic expression. "You like it that much?"
Naruto's eyes lit up. "Are you kidding? It's the best! I could eat here every day!"
Rias laughed, her laughter warm and genuine. "In that case, I'll have to try it sometime."

Back at the Hokage's office, the rest of the Konoha 12 remained, feeling the sting of disappointment and a bit of jealousy as they watched Naruto and Rias disappear from sight.
Kiba sighed, shaking his head. "Of all people… Naruto gets the attention."
Choji shrugged, munching on a snack. "Guess there's no accounting for taste, huh?"
The Konoha 12 girls, however, couldn't help but smirk, a bit amused at the boys' failed attempts. Ino teased them, "Guess even the great Kiba, Shikamaru, and Sasuke don't have what it takes to impress a princess."
Sasuke huffed, folding his arms and looking away. "I wasn't even trying."
Hinata watched the distant figures of Naruto and Rias with mixed emotions, her usual soft expression clouded with disappointment but also understanding. She took a breath, deciding to let her feelings settle.
And so, the group stayed behind, waiting for Naruto and Rias to return, each silently reflecting on the day's events and the unexpected ways bonds—and jealousies—could form between allies and friends.
