"Hey, Mom!" Naruto called out as he made his way into the living room. It was finally the weekend, and he was looking forward to procrastinating and enjoying the sunshine. He and Ino planned to meet up later for a movie and ramen. Probably, plan out some pranks to play on their next victim. Shikamaru. The Nara teen has been doing his best to avoid the two of them, but he was just delaying the inevitable at this point. Both Naruto and Ino knew where he lived and what his schedule was like. He had it coming.

"Yes, sweetie?" Kushina responded, glancing up from her laptop at her son. She gave him a questioning look, noticing he was dressed to go out. Sometimes she didn't know if she should be happy or sad that her baby was growing up. How she missed scooping him up in her arms and squeezing him. Well, the other day he did jump into her arms because Obito scared him by appearing out of nowhere. They were both surprised that she could still carry him at his current height and weight.

"I'm heading to the movies, then Ichiraku's. Do you want me to get you anything?" Naruto asked, leaning onto the back of the sofa, opposite his mom. 'Live, Love, Laugh, Ramen' was one of their many family mottos. It was unforgivable to not offer ramen if one was heading out to Ichiraku's or another restaurant.

"Oh, that's okay," Kushina replied with a wave of her hand. "Hang out with your friends. But make sure you come back home before your curfew. You've been cutting it close lately."

"Gotcha!" Naruto smiled and bent down to hug his mom. He wondered why she declined a bowl of ramen. His Kushina senses were tingling. His mother might be up to something, but for now, he will observe. "I'll be home on time. See you later!"

Kushina returned the hug with a smile and watched Naruto ruffle Kurama's fur, their pet dog, as he left. Kurama didn't seem to be pleased with the affection and growled as it left for the backyard for some fresh air. Now alone, the smile on her face was replaced with a scowl. There was something different about her boy. Kushina knew Naruto very well. They had a good mother-son bond going on. Even going through puberty, they didn't have any extreme issues besides some small arguments, but he was always honest and open with her. Maybe too open sometimes. It was one hell of an experience to have your preteen son, running into your room yelling about becoming a man and having pubic hair.

The changes started three months ago. Normally, Naruto shone brightly. He was a walking ball of sunshine, always on top of the world. But one day, she was pretty sure his smile might have blinded a few people on his way home. Kakashi and Obito wore sunglasses whenever they visited during that week because of the beams of Naruto rays. Eventually, his light simmered down and went back to its usual level. However, Kushina started to take note of a new scent on her son. It was subtle at first. She didn't even think anything of it. A soft flowery scent, not too strange for Naruto since he maintained their garden. But it was the scent of a perfume … feminine perfume.

Now, Kushina fully supports her son in whichever way he wants to express himself. What bothered her was that there was no feminine perfume in his room. He didn't change his body wash nor did Naruto wear cologne since it made him sneeze too much. So where did the scent come from? Was her son hiding those products from her, because he didn't feel comfortable telling her? Was he involved in a gang, that used such a scent to mask their villainous actions? Or were drugs masked with flowery perfumes to prevent them from being discovered? Wait, Kushina froze as her eyes widened slowly. What if there's a new type of drug with such a scent? Naruto was now at the age where his curiosity is at its peak! Back in her days, she did all kinds of things … questionable things too. But it was the 90s, so who knew better really?

"Kushina!"

"Argh! Fuck!" Kushina jumped out of her chair, ready to punch the perpetrator. She blinked in surprise as she recognized her husband, Minato, giving her a bewildered look. She exhaled in relief, and leaned onto the table, to calm her breathing.

"What on earth were you thinking about like that?" Minato asked, with a small chuckle. He had been this close to getting punched in the face by his surprised wife. Kushina was the type of person to hit first, then ask questions later. He came home for lunch, from the office, hoping to catch a meal with his family. Only to walk in on his wife, sitting at the table with a stony expression, head resting on her palms as she glared at the laptop in front of her.

"Mina," Kushina sighed. She walked over to her husband and dropped her head onto his shoulder. "Something is going on with Naruto, and I don't know what it is. I don't think I can wait any much longer without knowing," she groaned.

"I see," Minato hummed. He patted her head softly, sensing the turmoil in his wife. He noticed some changes with his son as well. However, he was waiting for Naruto to approach them and let them know what caused it. It seems Kushina's patience ran out, which he expected. He was proud she waiting for three months though. He thought after two weeks she would grab Naruto by the neck and start grilling him. "Knowing you, you probably had some extreme thoughts, right? So, let's sit down and tell me what's on your mind."

"Yeah, you're right," Kushina agreed, a small smile gracing her face with how well Minato knew her. She gave him a peck on the cheek and pulled him into the kitchen. The two set up the table and dished out the food. Naruto would probably eat dinner once he got back, she thought. No matter how many bowls of ramen he ate, he always had room for her home-cooked meals.

"Sooo, I can already tell you that our son is not a part of a gang or doing drugs," Minato said slowly, after listening to Kushina's thought process. Things could have escalated way too quickly if he hadn't interrupted her. The two had finished eating their lunch, whilst making small talk about their day. Once done, they shared their concerns about Naruto. Minato had an inkling of what could be the cause of those changes. He hadn't planned on outright telling Kushina, because … well, who knows what she might do. But now, he would have, to avoid any chaos in their household. "Kushi, now I want you to remain calm, when I tell you this, okay?"

Minato held her eyes with a steady look and squeezed her hand softly. Kushina squinted at him with a suspicious look. Did he know something she didn't? Most likely. She tended to exaggerate her thoughts.

"I think, Naruto is seeing someone," Minato said, in a calm tone.

"Seeing … someone?" Kushina asked, her brow creasing in confusion. Her mind was blank. Silence.

"Yes, the flowery scent? Shining brighter than the sun? He could be dating someone," Minato pointed out. Silence. He stared at Kushina, and she stared back at him. Maybe I should have had this conversation with her when Kakashi was here, Minato wondered wearily. Kushina slowly extracted her hand from his and gave Minato a disarmingly, warm smile. Panic settled into the pit of his stomach.

"Are you saying, my sweet baby boy, is now a part of the 'dating' world?" Kushina asked. That sweet tone meant danger. Minato gulped and nodded. "I see," Kushina responded, nodding to herself and staring at the knife next to her plate. "Well, if you stay here any longer, you'll take too long to get back to the office, honey."

Minato froze and watched his wife, who got up to clear the table, humming a cheery tune. "That's it?", he muttered. No denials? Did she agree without getting upset and being overprotective of their son? Nothing? He blinked in surprise when he felt her lips on his own, for a few seconds. She pulled him up from his chair, and straightened his clothes, preparing him to head out. "Honey, why are you in such a daze? Haha, you're so cute. We'll continue this conversation later, alright?", she laughed lightly.

"Er? Yeah?" Minato mumbled, confusion showing on his face. He shook his head and decided that this was probably not that bad. Later, they can continue and he will make sure she doesn't do anything … extra. "Sorry? Your reaction surprised me. Thanks for the meal, Kushi. I'll be back by 10." He smiled as her eyes landed on his own, showing warmth and a hint of mischievousness. He hugged his wife and made his way out of the house. Yeah, it's fine, Minato mused. Naruto wasn't home so this can be delayed for a bit. He would have enough time to convince his wife that she should give whoever it is their son is seeing a chance.

Back in the Uzumaki household, Kushina is leaning against the kitchen counter, phone in hand as she quickly typed out a message to Jiraiya, Naruto's godfather. Huhuhu, she chuckled darkly to herself. My darling husband, you think I would sit here at home and wait for you to talk me out of finding more about this … no-good-son-stealing-unworthy-little-shit that's poisoning my child? I don't know who are you are, but I will find you and figure out what your goal is, Kushina smirked as she read the response from Jiraiya. It was about to go down!

Ayame has seen her fair share of unique customers, whilst working at her father's restaurant. Some were entertaining, some were worrying and others were simply thought-provoking. Today, was one of those days where she had to do a double-take at seeing two familiar persons walking into the restaurant. It was an old man with a walking stick and a young woman who entered the restaurant. The elder had long red hair, braided down to his back, wearing a grey business suit. He seemed to be leaning on his walking stick, with a few tremors now and then as he walked towards an empty table at the back of the restaurant. The woman that came in with him had white hair, styled into a pixie cut, and wore a black, casual dress. They looked normal really. What caught Ayame off guard, was the fact that their eyebrows did not match their hair color and they had on wigs. She was pretty positive the two people were Jiraiya and Kushina Uzumaki. And Jiraiya most definitely did not use or need a walking stick.

"Hello! Welcome to Ichiraku's! Would you like your usual?" Ayame greeted the two, as they made themselves comfortable.

"Dammit!" Kushina cursed quietly. She glared at Jiraiya who looked at Ayame with surprise. "I told you this wouldn't work! Ayame immediately recognized us."

"Hey, this is a foolproof disguise," Jiraiya pointed out with a huff. "It's because you're a regular here. She probably knows you just by the way you walk in!"

"Maybe … the two of you should have dyed your eyebrows to match your wigs?" Ayame chipped in, whilst holding back her laughter. "That was a dead giveaway."

"Ugh," Jiraiya groaned. "Fine, we'll keep our heads down and scope the area." Kushina nodded and quickly scanned the restaurant for anyone else who might recognize them. Jiraiya had quickly procured their costume as soon as she told him the situation. He was more than happy to dig up information on who the mysterious person was. His godson had never shown much interest in dating, no matter how many times Jiraiya shared stories about his younger days. Now, with this news, he was looking forward to seeing who caught the energetic blonde's eye.

"So, should I know what you two are up to now? Or should I wait to ask my questions after the show?" Ayame asked. Whatever this was, would probably be entertaining.

"After," Kushina responded, ducking her head as two other customers walked in. "We have to interrogate you too since you might know more about this … person we're looking for."

"Oh boy," Ayame sighed. "Well, if you two plan to eat, then let me know. Good luck!" She shook her head and made her way to the next customers. This probably had something to do with Naruto, she mused.

"Look alive, Red," Jiraiya said in a low voice as he glanced towards the windows. "I think I've spotted the target heading over." Simultaneously, the two placed large black hats over their heads and pretended to read the menu.

"Got it, White," Kushina whispered, glancing towards the entrance. Behind their table, she noted two men staring at the entrance and whispering to each other in a hushed tone. One looked vaguely familiar, but she filed that for later as the door opened. Naruto walked in, hand in hand with a blonde teenage girl. She was … beautiful. Her long, blonde hair hung to her waist loosely. She wore a white crop top and purple baggy jeans. The girl was smiling at something Naruto said, as they made their way to an empty table for two.

Kushina was conflicted. Jiraiya was excited. Now, beauty is only skin deep. This girl could look like a goddess but still have a horrible personality, Kushina reminded herself. Even if she's smiling at my baby as if he's the only boy in the world. Meanwhile, Jiraiya was cheering Naruto on in his head, doing cartwheels and already planning to take the kid out to celebrate his first steps to becoming a man. The two didn't react outwardly, to avoid getting the attention of the couple. They quickly shared a look, conveying that they will continue to observe.

Kushina's eyes narrowed as she watched the son-stealing siren, greet Ayame as she walked over to their table. She seemed friendly, Kushina thought. Those two were probably regulars here. I don't want to like her smile. Why does she have to look like such a warm person? She and Naruto have been holding hands since they walked in! Look at that Minato-clone, he's looking at her the way Minato looks at me. Kushina's thoughts spiraled, as she continued observing the young couple. She wanted to dislike this girl, but she could already tell that her son was smitten with her. I swear to Kami if this little heifer hurts my son, reputation be damned, mama bear will be taking her down.

"Not bad, 'Ruto," Jiraiya chuckled. "Is it me, or doesn't she look like that kid who works as a forensic psychologist?" He nudged Kushina to pull her gaze away from the teens. He remembered a blonde man he once worked with on cases when he was a private investigator.

"What?" Kushina muttered with a frown. "Uhm, you mean Inoichi? I think he was a year or two older than me and Minato?"

"Right, right! That guy. Her hair and eye color look similar to his. Don't you think so?" Jiraiya said as he glanced around to make sure others didn't listen in. He noticed the two guys across from them stiffening. Before he could point that out, he heard Kushina scoff at his response.

"I guess? Maybe distantly related," Kushina snorted. "I remember he was a playboy in university, there's no way that guy would settle down. Much less have a kid! Imagine Inoichi having a daughter. I swear there was a rumor about him having a girlfriend for each day of the week!"

"Hey! That was just a rumor! I wasn't that bad," the man wearing a hoodie and shades exclaimed as he turned towards Kushina.

"Idiot! You blew the cover," his companion growled out.

"Eh!", Kushina gasped, noticing the man's pale blonde hair peeking out from under his hood. "No way, Inoichi!?" Kushina shouted as she pointed at the man. "What are you doing here, dressed so suspiciously? Are you hiding from one of your girlfriends?"

"Gah! Don't say that!" the newly discovered Inoichi yelped. Jiraiya stifled a laugh, admiring Kushina's blunt way of speaking. "I am a married man loyal to his wife!"

"Really?" Kushina dragged out. "Well good on you. Nice to see you've changed your player ways," She grinned as the man spluttered out about that being in the past. His companion sighed and rubbed his forehead in annoyance.

"I'm here to find out about the brat who's with my daughter," Inoichi scowled, wanting to change the topic. Once he connected the dots that his princess was being charmed by some boy, he started his investigation with the help of his co-worker, Ibiki. He asked Shikaku and Choza for help, but the two wanted to stay out of incurring his wife's wrath. She had been adamant about giving Ino time to tell them about her dating life. But Inoichi was once a teenage boy. He knows how they think. He didn't want his little princess to get hurt or defiled by trash. "Color me surprised when I find out it's you and Minato's son, who's known to be a troublemaker," he scowled. "The son of the Uzumaki princess, who got up to no good in her younger days."

Oh, no he didn't, Jiraiya thought, his mouth making an 'o' shape as he stared wide-eyed at the Yamanaka. Kushina did get into trouble a lot when she was younger. She also had her family's backing to get her out of it, although she did get punished depending on what she did. As she got older, she calmed down and there was also Minato who acted as her conscious.

"No good? It was harmless fun," Kushina glared. "Unlike a certain Yamanaka, I didn't go around breaking hearts left and right! Kind of worried you're a bad influence on your kid."

"No way! All men are trash! There's no one good enough for my daughter, especially your son," Inoichi growled, standing up to face Kushina.

"Is that so? Well, I don't think your princess is good enough for my baby boy," Kushina, now standing, jabbed a finger at Inoichi who looked offended.

The two grown adults started bickering about their children being too good for the other. Their voices grew louder, tick marks formed and Jiraiya got up to pull Kushina away from Inoichi before things heated up. Ibiki copied him, the two realizing that their cover was fully blown and all the customers were watching them.

"I didn't sign up for this," Ibiki grumbled. "You two do realize everyone is looking at us, right?" This caused both Kushina and Inoichi to pause and look around the restaurant. Everyone was indeed staring. Ayame was doing her best to stifle her laughter and looked away from the group once they noticed the scene they were causing.

"So, that's what you guys were doing?" Ayame asked once she got control of herself. "Why didn't you just ask them about each other?"

Kushina and Inoichi shared a look at Ayame's question. It was a good question. Simple. A very straightforward process, that could have been done in under 15 minutes too. However, the one thing Kushina and Inoichi had in common, was making things a little more complicated.

"Uhm, I'll need my lawyer present to answer such a question," Kushina muttered, looking away with a small blush. Inoichi nodded and looked at his shoes.

"Okay," Ayame chuckled. "Well please sit down at this table for a group. I'll have your meals ready in a bit." She gestured to a table with four chairs.

"Huh? We didn't order food," Ibiki frowned, sharing a confused look with Inoichi.

"Oh, you didn't," Ayame smiled, her eyes gleaming with laughter. "Naruto and Ino ordered food for you guys."

The four adults gaped at her and quickly turned towards the table the young couple had been sitting at. It was now empty. When did the two leave? Ayame giggled at their reactions and made her way to the kitchen. The other customers went back to their conversations, all amused at what they just witnessed.

"Ah," Ayame said, whirling around to face the group, "they said thanks for the dinner and the show, and you all will talk once you get home. And they left the bill for you guys." With that, she disappeared into the kitchen. Her father who heard the commotion was laughing and dished out the food with a grin on his face.

"Shit," Kushina muttered. "Not the talk. He sounds just like Minato when he nags me," she whined, sitting at the table Ayame gestured. Jiraiya gave her a comforting pat on the shoulder, and removed his wig, as he sat down across from her.

"Ugh, Ino's going to be so mad," Inoichi pouted. "Then, Nobara's going to kill me." He and Ibiki now sitting at the table, next to the others. Dark clouds formed above Kushina and Inoichi's heads, as they both were not looking forward to being scolded by their children. In hopes of fixing the mood, Jiraiya offered that the group should go drinking.

Later that evening, in the Uzumaki household, Minato was tasked with taking care of his drunk wife, who kept gushing over their son's beautiful girlfriend and how she wanted to meet her. Only to switch back to crying about her baby growing up, and how Uzumakis' had a thing for blondes. At the same time, in the Yamanaka household, Nobara, Ino's mom, comforted her husband who was crying about losing his princess, losing a drinking game to Kushina and Naruto's sunshine powers.

A/N: Thoughts, concerns, general feedback?

Kushina thinks Ino is stealing her son, and Inoichi feels the same about Naruto. I'm sure those two will win them over eventually. Jiraiya and Kushina always sounded like they would make a funny duo. Most complain about Jiraiya being a pervert, but I feel like the fandom exaggerates it. He and Kushina's personality mesh well enough, that they'd be perfect for comedic scenes if canon went differently. I was going to add a scene with Naruto and Ino confronting their parents, but I'll probably do a chapter with extra scenes. This should be around 8 chapters total, with the possibility of two extras. At least, Ino and Naruto got a free meal after the unexpected performance from their parents :).
