A/N: How's it going everybody!
Weapons clash against each other once again, as the match between Perseus and Lancelot was soon reaching its climax.
"GYAH!" Lancelot growls as he pushes on.
"NGARGH!" Perseus huffs as he pushes back Lancelot's attack.
Blow after blow, more of their surroundings were beginning to crack, as rubble begins flying about, damaging the arena little by little.
"This is it folks! They are going all out! Round 3! I. I. I don't think we have a clear victor for this one!"
As the two continue on, each side, whether be god, or human, can't help but question how each of them has been able to continue for so long.
Finally, Lancelot gets a lucky hit, and slashes Perseus' chest, golden ichor spilling out.
"Shit!" Nike stammers. "Perseus isn't going to last long!"
Athena says nothing as she continues on.
"Come on Athena!" Nike notices. "At least say something!"
Athena still says no word, while both she and Heracles continue to watch.
"Whatever!" Nike snarls, as she focuses on Perseus. "Come on Perse! Give it your all, and beat this human!"
'Yes. OH YES!' Perseus feels the power, as he continues. 'I haven't felt this in years!'
Perseus retaliates, cutting at Lancelot's exposed tunic. Lancelot is briefly staggered, as his breathing takes up more of his energy.
"COME ON FATHER!" Galahad starts.
"FIGHT!" The knights of the round table yell in unison.
Lancelot smiles as he gets up. "Randgriz, are you with me?"
Randgriz is beaming with pride with her response. "To the very end Lancelot."
Tragedy. An event that plagues these two heroes. Both atone for a horrific past.
Perseus delivers well-timed, heavy blows to Lancelot.
Lancelot uses Warrior's Soul to counter with slashes of pure ferocity.
Through this fight, both have realized that each other were worthy foes, respecting what each of them had within them. Both of them being the greatest heroes of their time despite all that has happened before.
"I don't know how much longer I can last…" Perseus grunts. "This is it. It's all or nothing!"
Perseus then channels all his memories into the Harpe.
"No!" Ares starts. "What is he doing?!"
"He's channeling every of his foe's power into this attack." Athena soon realizes, much to the shock of Nike.
"He can't! It's too risky!" Nike yells back.
Lancelot sees this, and holds both Secace and his shield in a way, as a holy aura soon manifests.
Each of them was on the same page. The only way for them to defeat their opponent was through a series of combo attacks that left each other in the open, too exposed and little time to counter.
"Let's do this!" Perseus declares, as he charges forward. "Enemy Within: Triumphant Grasp!"
As Perseus begins his combo attack, Lancelot shifts his body at the miniscule frame he had, sacrificing both his shield, and a part of his left hand, as he used this to charge from another angle.
"Oversoul!" Lacelot begins, as he strikes Perseus from all angles, the final strike dealing a fatal blow to Perseus' heart.
At that moment, the crowd was dead silent. Not the gods, nor the humans. So silent in fact, that one could hear the drop of a pin.
Despite the killing blow, rather than be devastated or in disbelief, to the shock of everyone, Perseus lets out a mighty laugh, much to the confusion of everyone. A laugh that signifies joy and satisfaction.
"That. That was the best fight of my entire life!" Perseus continues to laugh. "Thanks to you, I was able to exert my power in a way I thought I was never going to be able to ever again."
At that moment, Perseus' body started to glow teal, and begin to crack. "Well. I guess that's all folks..."
The gods were distraught at seeing one of the greatest heroes slowly dying. But Perseus' eyes went to Brunhilde.
"Hey Brunhilde!" Perseus starts, "These humans are a damn good bunch. Do me a favor, and save them for me, will ya?"
Brunhilde neither does or say anything, instead, closing her eyes instead.
Then to Lancelot. "And Lancelot, quit beating yourself up already all right. You already atoned for your sins well before this battle."
Lancelot can only say nothing as the last of Perseus' remains shatter into dust, making its way to Nifelheim. Lancelot then takes Secace, and stabs the ground, before kneeling, and putting his head down in respect.
At that moment, a human suddenly realized something. "Wait, does that mean what I think it means?!"
As he was regaining his composure, Heimdall stutters as he declares the victor.
"La- Lancelot has defeated a demigod! I repeat! Lancelot has defeated a demigod! The winner of the third round of Ragnork is…"
The rest of humanity soon begin to erupt in cheers.
"LANCELOT!"
Ragnarok Round 3
Lancelot vs Perseus
Winner: Lancelot
Deciding Move: Oversoul
Time: 11 Minutes, 33 Seconds
After the losses of both William Wallace and Public Universal Friend, humanity has done the impossible, and defeated a god. Every human present chants Lancelot's name, as The Valkyrie sisters celebrate with each other with Lancelot's win.
Santa Muerte lets out a laugh, as she pours out a celebratory drink for the human's victory, while Eros silently thanks the human for his victory, satisfied that humanity has done it.
At the announcement, Galahad soon erupts in cheers. "YEAH HA! That's my father for you! He's the best!"
Gawain crosses his arms, closing his eyes, as he reflects on the results. 'Heh! You did damn good Lancelot… I can't wait to have fun with you again…' As he does, a smile forms on his face.
Guinevere calmly sits back down, as she silently thanks whatever gods were still on humanity's side for allowing Lancelot to live, a tear slowly falling from her left eye.
Arthur on the other hand, is all smiles, seeing the first genuine smile that has formed on his friend's face in years as he fixes himself, before leaving the arena. 'Perseus is right my friend. You've already atoned for your sins… You did good.'
Stheno and Euryale cry tears of joy, hugging each other, as their sister Medusa could finally rest in peace, for her death has been avenged.
As for the gods, Nike and Athena are in sorrow and despair as their friend was gone forever. Meanwhile, Heracles gets up, leaving the arena. Though he is devastated with his great-grandfather's death, he is at least happy that humanity still has a chance to survive.
Xolotl fumes with anger, as his mind rages with jealousy 'I knew it was foolish of them to pick Perseus! If they had picked me, then that Lancelot would've been a dead man already!'
All the while, Sun Wukong still sits on the Arena's roof, having witnessed such an outcome. "Rest well old friend…" He tips his hat to the fallen demigod. "Perhaps it is time for some things to change…" He then leaves the arena the same way he came in.
Meanwhile, in the arena, Randgriz finally manifests back into her Valkyrie form. She has injuries, but nothing that a quick trip to the medical ward can fix.
"Are you ok Lancelot?" She asks in concern.
Lancelot gives out a brief chuckle. "You mean besides bleeding, and maybe some cracked bones? Nothing too major it seems."
"You're a very different person now…" Randgriz observes with a smile.
"Sister Randgriz!" Goll cheers for her sister. "You're okay! I'm so happy!"
Randgriz looks to her youngest sister. "Nothing to it dear sister. I told you that I wanted to avenge Kara and Reginleif."
Meanwhile, Hrist huffs, arms still crossed as she begrudgingly speaks. "Yeah, yeah. You did good and all that. Whatever." In actuality, Hrist was proud of her younger sister's skills and survival, but there was no way she was going to give her the satisfaction.
Randgriz sees right through it. "Thank you, too Big sis!"
Goll excitedly turns to Brunhilde. "Yeah! Humanity finally has their first victory! It's great, isn't it?"
"Not yet," Brunhilde's tone changes, as she walks away to prepare for the next round. "This is only the first victory. We still need six more."
"But…"
"Goll," Hrist begins as she follows suit. "A single loss isn't going to deter the gods that easily. And neither should it to us."
"Sister Hrist…"
Meanwhile, in the arena, as the gates open, to allow Lancelot and Randgriz to leave, and Hygeia's servants clean the arena, Heimdall makes an announcement.
"After suffering two losses in a row, humanity has finally obtained their first victory in the final bout against the gods! Is this the start of something new?"
Post Match
The God's Villa
Zeus' Personal Chamber
"Well… Quite the situation we've found ourselves in, haven't we?" Zeus begins.
"Really? You don't say!" The Dagda yells out.
"My, you seem awfully calm for someone who just lost a child." Ameterasu notices.
"Big deal!" Bathala states, having finally returned from the infirmary. "Zeus has several other kids. Not like he remembers them all anyway."
"My, my. Such words coming from you Bathala…" Comes a new voice.
The voice comes from a tall, lean, young man with short, unkempt, black hair and matching black eyes. The god wore a purple stole with black stripes over a black shawl, and cleric robes with matching panths and lace-up, mid-calf boots.
The Lord of the Flies
Beelzebub (Philistine Pantheon)
"Such confidence considering that your child survived…" Beelzebub states, prompting a glare from the Filipino Deity.
"Watch your words boy…" Bathala threatens.
"What bring you here Beelzebub?" Amaterasu questions.
"Oh, nothing in particular." Beelzebub shrugs. "I just wanted to see how old Zeus is doing so far."
"Never realized such trivial things mattered to you." Hermes begins, before he leaves, an all too knowing smirk appears as he passes Beelzebub. "Why not go back, and play with your science experiments for a while."
Beelzebub keeps silent, knowing all too well what Hermes was planning.
Zeus finally stands. "Those Valkyries… Especially… HER. She is very serious about defeating us all… And we should follow her example."
"I couldn't have said it better myself Zeus!" Enters a goddess.
The goddess was tall and beautiful, with long, flowing, hip length brown hair, with strands of silver. She wore a fur shawl over a dark brown trenchcoat, under which she wore a black chest plate over a corset and belt under a short-sleeved, brown nalbinding shirt. A matching black, leather gladiator skirt with fur trimming, and light brown wrappings over her forearms, and woven, fur boots on her legs.
Norse Goddess of War, and Queen of the Valkyries
Freyja (Norse)
"Therefore, it is only fitting that it is my turn to fight."
"I'm surprised your fighting for us in all honesty…" Ares starts. "I thought for sure you were going to aid the Valkyries."
At the mention, Freyja's face contorts in fury. "Do not lump me with them you oaf! They betrayed us, and you expect me to side with them? How foolish can you be?!"
"I admire your enthusiasm Freyja, but… That is a no from me…" Zeus decides.
"What?!" Freyja begins in disbelief. "You dare deny me of my turn!"
"Perseus was a Greek member, and my son…" Zeus then starts to morph to his taller, thinner, yet fiercer form. ADAMAS. "So, you better let us Olympians deal with this!"
"Tch," Freyja huffs, before she starts leaving. "Very well. Have it your way, but don't come crying to me when you lose another one." Freyja then slams the door behind her, breaking the surrounding stained glass window panes.
Beelzebub ignores the whole thing, before he turns his attention to Zeus. "So, you wish to be the ones who will avenge Perseus? Who do you have in mind?"
Zeus shrinks back down, before he begins to speak. "Just wait and see."
A/N: And we're clear!
Humanity has their first win in Ragnarok. It makes sense when you think about it that Round 3 is when humanity gets their first victory.
Also, another God Fighter debuts with Freyja. I actually got a PM asking what I was planning with Freyja, since she is the Valkyrie queen in mythology. I told them that I would address it soon, and this was my way of doing it.
With Round 3 done, who will be the fighters for Round 4? Find out next chapter!
Until then, BYE!
