Valentine's Day was on the horizon, and everyone at Birchwood Elementary was preparing themselves for the special love day. Sally was at her table in the cafeteria, thinking all about her own past love life.

"What are you doing, Sally?" asked Eudora.

"Just thinking all about how I wanted a valentine from Linus." said Sally. "Back when I still considered him my sweet babboo."
"I did consider him that once." Eudora answered sheepishly.

"That was until I spent more time with my sweet angel?" said Sally.

"Hey, Ladies." said Harold Angel. "What are you two on about?"
"Just talking about… Say, Harold Angel. Any plans for Valentine's Day?"
"I do have some." said Harold Angel. "But they're for me to know and you to find out."
"Really?"
"Anything for my sweet butterfly."

Over on another table, Katie the Little Pigtailed Girl was writing a very special letter.

"He'll be most surprised by this." said Katie.

Walking by Katie was a girl whom Rerun had doted on earlier, who had a terrible habit of changing her name, even moreso than Lydia would.

"Hey, Katie!" said the girl. "Whatcha doing?"
"I'm writing to a very special boy." said Katie.
"Who?" asked the girl.

"Can't tell you!" Katie giggled, blushing. "It's my business and his business only…. whoever you are today."
"Oh, I can't decide on what I want my name to be." said the girl. "Perhaps you could call me Deanna. Yesterday, I was Eliza, but I also like Simone."
"Whatever you say….. Simone." said Katie.

"Anyway, I'll leave you to it." said the girl as she walked away.

"Phew!" remarked Katie. "That was a close shave!"

When it was time for everyone to go home, Katie had reached Lucy's house. She made sure none of the van Pelts had come home, and then, she slipped the letter into the mailbox.

"He'll be most surprised!" said Katie.

Katie skipped off home, hoping Rerun will accept.

Tommy had already arrived home from a busy day at school. He saw Katie arrive.

"Hey, Cuz!" said Tommy.

"Hi, Tommy!" said Katie. "So, any plans for Valentine's Day?"
"I'm going to take Frieda to a new movie." said Tommy.

"Sounds exciting." said Katie.

"What are you planning on doing, Cuz?" asked Tommy.

"It's going to be a big surprise!" smiled Katie. "He'll be most surprised!"

Meanwhile, Lucy had returned home. She was most looking forward to her valentine date.

"Oh. Someone's delivered something."

Lucy opened the mailbox.

"Hmm….. Rerun!" called Lucy.

Lucy went inside, and there was Rerun.
"Hi, Lucy!" said Rerun.

"This came in the mail for you." said Lucy.

"Oh, I wonder what it is!" said Rerun as Lucy handed the letter to him.

Rerun opened the letter and….

"Dear Lester,

I have a nice surprise for you.

It's from someone whose love for you is so true.

I want to treat you to something, no work, only play.

Let's start this special day on Saturday.

Yours truly,

Katie Halverson."

"Katie Halverson?" said Lucy. "Isn't she…..?"
"Yes!" said Rerun. "She's the girl with the braids I've fallen for since my kindergarten days!"

Rerun started to blush beet red.

"Are you okay, Rerun?" asked Lucy.

Rerun blushed so red, he fell to the ground.

"Good grief!" sighed Lucy.

Linus came right downstairs, surprised to see his little brother on the ground.

"Rerun? Are you alright?" asked Linus.

"Rerun seems to have gone unconscious." said Linus.

"I have a date!" Rerun said, regaining consciousness.

"You have a date?" said Linus.

"Read it!" said Rerun as he handed the letter to Linus.

Linus read the letter thoroughly.

"Happy for you, Little Brother." said Linus. "Happy for you!"

The next day, all the Van Pelts had arrived at the bus stop, where Charlie Brown, Sally, Harold Angel, Janice, Lindsey, and Heather were waiting.

"Hi, Charlie Brown, Sally, Harold Angel, Janice, Lindsey, Heather." said Linus.

"Hello, Linus, Lucy, Rerun." said Charlie Brown.

"Any plans for Valentine's Day?" asked Lucy.

"Charlie Brown's taking me to a new movie." said Heather.

"Linus is bringing me to the park to admire the scenery." said Janice.

"That's nice." said Lucy. "Sebastian is taking me to his place for some music."

"How about you, Rerun?" asked Janice.

But Rerun didn't speak. He looked rather nervous.

"What's with him?" asked Janice.

"He just got a letter from a girl who wants to take him out." said Linus. "He's had feelings for this particular girl for a long time."
"I think I know who you mean." said Heather.

Rerun remained nervous, only for Heather to walk over to him.

"Are you okay?" asked Heather.

Rerun didn't answer. He just looked at his feet.

"Don't worry, Rerun. It'll be fun!" said Heather.
"Besides, I've been on lots of dates with Janice." said Linus. "Especially on her day when she returned from France one day."
"I remember well." said Janice.

"I guess you're right." said Rerun.

"Go for it, Rerun." said Sally.

Soon, the bus arrived, and Charlie Brown, Janice, Linus, Heather, Lindsey and Lucy stepped on.

"Good luck, Rerun!" said Linus.

"I'll try." said Rerun.

Some minutes later, the bus to Birchwood Elementary School arrived, and it was time for Sally, Rerun and Harold Angel to step on. Rerun took the seat at the back.

"Why's he at the back?" asked Harold Angel.

"He's still nervous about his date." said Sally.

Soon, the bus arrived outside the Halverson place, where Katie was waiting. As Katie stepped on, Rerun hid, feeling very nervous.

"Don't let her see me. Don't let her see me." Rerun begged.

"Hi, Lester!" came a voice.

The voice belonged to Katie.

"Oh… hi!" Rerun said, blushing.

"Did you get my letter?" asked Katie.

"Um…. y…y…yes. I did." said Rerun.

"Are you looking forward to Saturday?" asked Katie.

"I….. I….. I guess I….. am." said Rerun.

"Are you okay, Lester?" asked Katie.

Rerun didn't answer.

"Don't worry, Lester." said Katie. "You have until Saturday to prepare yourself."
Rerun knew Katie was right.

Over at Sparkyville Middle School, Lucy and Linus discussed all about Rerun and his date on Saturday.

"Aw, sounds very sweet." said Adrienne.

"My cousin dating your little brother, is that right, Lucy?" said Tommy.
"By the looks of it." said Lucy.

Emerald sniggered and started to sing a teasy chant.

"Rerun and Katie sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!"
"Emerald!" Scarlet called.

"Anyway," said Linus. "Rerun is rather nervous about it."
"I hope he'll be alright by then." said Lucy.

"Anyway, enough about Rerun, what are your plans for Valentine's Day?" asked Linus.

"I'm going to convince my Sammykins if he'd like to treat me to an ice cream." said Emerald.

"Oh, good grief!" sighed Spearmint Sammy.

"Don't listen to her, Ma'am." said Marty.

"Stop calling me Ma'am." said Spearmint Sammy.

"Yes, Sir." said Marty solemnly.

"I'm going to my Sebastian's house to listen to some beautiful love songs." said Lucy.

"I'm bringing Mary to a new movie." said Schroeder.

"That's what Tommy's doing with me!" said Frieda.

Tommy blushed at this.

"Shermy's taking me to a play." said Violet. "Isn't that right, Shermykins?"
"That's right, Vi." said Shermy.

"Charlie Brown, how about you?" asked Linus.

"I'm treating my Little Red-Haired Girl to a love sundae." said Charlie Brown.

"I'm bringing Pig-Pen to Sparkyworld." said Patty Swanson.

"Pierre's bringing me there too!" said Peppermint Patty.

"Both Pattys at the them park." said Marcie.

"And you're coming to the movies with me." said Franklin.

"So many of our friends having so many valentine dates!" said Lucy. "Say, this gives me an idea….."

During lunch, Rerun sat on his own, having his peanut butter sandwich when Eudora sat beside him.

"Hey, Rerun." said Eudora.

"Hi, Eudora!" said Rerun.

"Are you excited about your date on Saturday?" asked Eudora.

Rerun looked rather nervous.

"Aw, don't worry about it now." said Eudora. "You only have until Saturday."
"You're right." said Rerun.

Meanwhile, Katie was speaking to Sally all about her date.

"How do you do it, Sally?" asked Katie.

"Do what?" asked Sally.

"How do you get a boy to stop being nervous about a date?" asked Katie.

"Just what I did to stop my Sweet Angel from being nervous." said Sally. "Give him time. Give him until Saturday."
"I guess you're right." said Katie.

Later, Lucy went over to Snoopy's house, where Woodstock was visiting. Snoopy and Fifi came out.

"Hey, Snoopy! Fifi! I need you for something." said Lucy.

"Oh?" said Snoopy.

"Come with me and I'll show you." said Lucy.

Lucy brought both Snoopy and Fifi out of their house.

"It's to do with Rerun. He has a date coming Saturday, and he's very nervous." said Lucy.

"Hmm…." Snoopy pondered.

In Snoopy's absence, Woodstock whistled to let the other birds know the coast was clear. And soon, Bill, Conrad, Olivier, Harriet, Tammy, Firdo, Wilson and Raymond flew on over. Woodstock held his wings out to Tammy, and he escorted her into Snoopy's doghouse.

"Ah!" Woodstock said with relief.

No Snoopy nor Fifi to bother them.

"Yippee!" all the birds cheered.

Over at the van Pelt place, Lucy brought Snoopy and Fifi over to Rerun.

"Snoopy." said Lucy "Show Rerun how to act on a date."
Snoopy stood promptly, and walked over to Fifi. He held Fifi's right front foot, and both walked down. They danced, they sung, and Snoopy carried Fifi bridal-style.

"Wow!" said Rerun.

"Do you see how to act, Rerun?" asked Lucy.

"I think I do." said Rerun.

"Great!" said Lucy. "Now you practice for Saturday."
"Thanks, Snoopy, Fifi." said Rerun.

Rerun hugged both dogs, and then, they left, waving goodbye to him.

But when Snoopy and Fifi got home, there was an enormous party going on. All the Woodstocks were making a mess of things.

"HEY!" Snoopy shouted.

This caused all the Woodstocks to stop.

Katie was over at Tommy's place.

"So how was school today?" asked Tommy.

"It was good, I suppose." said Katie.

"Except?" asked Tommy.

"Except….. Lester's rather nervous about Saturday." Katie said.

"Just like me." said Tommy. "I was a bit like that when Frieda sent me that valentine."
"So I see." said Katie. "Hopefully some friends will help him stop being nervous. I want this date to be successful."
"Linus and Lucy have some neat ideas." said Tommy. "They seem to be giving him the hang of dating."
"Well, thanks for letting me know, Cuz." said Katie. "Anyway, I have to go home now. Fred needs me."
Katie arrived home where Fred was starting to crawl.

"Good grief!" cried Katie. "Mommy! Look what Fred's doing!"
Dena, Katie's mother, walked down and saw what Fred was doing.

"He's crawling!" exclaimed Dena.

Valentine's Day had arrived, and everybody was getting ready for their dates. Lucy changed into a purple skivvy, blue jeans, gold earrings, and red boots.

"Sebastian will love me in this!" said Lucy.

Linus and Rerun went up to Lucy, and were most stunned.

"Lucy! Looking fabulous!" said Linus.

"You look stunning!" said Rerun.

"Thanks, Little Brothers." said Lucy. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have my Sebastian to attend to."
And Lucy left, heels in her boots clicking, Linus and Rerun looking.

"What you just said to Lucy, that's just what you should say to Katie on Saturday."

"I'll remember." said Rerun.

Lucy had arrived at Sebastian's place.

"Hey, Sebastian!" said Lucy.

"Come on in, Lucy!" said Sebastian.

"Oh. Hey, Lucy." said Catalina, Sebastian's sister.

"Hello, Catalina." said Lucy. "Just here for my Valentine date."

"That's nice." said Catalina.

"Rerun, you wouldn't mind coming on my date with Janice, would you?" asked Linus.

"Okay." said Rerun. "Anything to help me become a gentleman."
Linus changed into his best suit, and he and Rerun went over to the Emmons place where Janice was waiting, dressed in a pink gown and purple Mary Jane shoes as well as a purple headband.

"Janice! Looking fab-u-lous!" said Linus.
"Thanks!" said Janice. "Say, what's your brother doing here?"
"You know about his date on Saturday, right?" said Linus. "I'm showing him how to act on dates."
"Great idea, Linus." said Janice.
Later, Linus and Janice were sitting on a bench while Rerun watched.

"Are you getting any of this, Rerun?" asked Linus.

"I think I am!" said Rerun. "Katie Waitie, I'm ready for you!"

Saturday had arrived, and Rerun was in his room, preparing himself for his very big date. He'd dressed himself in a simple white dress shirt, black pants, black shoes, and a bow tie. He brushed his hair as nicely as he could.

"Hey, Rerun!" said Linus. "Are you ready for your big day?"
"I sure am!" said Rerun. "And she'll be here very soon!"
"My littlest brother, already on his first date." said Lucy.

"You said it, Lucy!" said Rerun.

"You won't mind me waiting outside, would you?" asked Rerun.

"Not at all." said Linus.

"Count me in." said Lucy.

So all the Van Pelt siblings waited, and waited. Soon, they heard a pair of heels clicking.

"Good grief she's here!" cried Rerun happily.

And there was Katie Halverson, walking straight for the van Pelt place. She'd dressed herself in a purple sleeveless shirt with white flowers all over, a purple pleated skirt, lavender bows on her pigtails, and pink Mary Jane shoes.

"Hi, Lester!" Katie said.

"Katie!" Rerun cried. "You…. you….. are….."
"Pretty?" Katie asked.

"Beautiful!" exclaimed Rerun.

"Are you ready for our big day together, Lester?" asked Katie.

"Am I ever!" said Rerun happily.

"Great! Come on!"
Katie grabbed Rerun's left hand with her right, and Rerun went light on his feet.

"I can't believe it! This girl is bringing me on a date!" Rerun said happily.

As Katie and Rerun reached the road, a limousine pulled up, and who should drive it but Snoopy.

"Snoopy?" said Rerun.

"I asked for Charlie Brown to use Snoopy as our chauffeur for today." said Katie.

"You did that for me?" said Rerun.

"Well, let's go in." said Katie.

Rerun and Katie went into the limousine, and Snoopy drove off downtown.

"I can't wait to see what you have planned for me." said Rerun.

"You'll see, Rerun. You'll see." said Katie.

While Rerun and Katie were on their date, Linus and Charlie Brown were at the thinking wall like they would be as kids.

"So Rerun's on his date?" said Charlie Brown.

"He is." said Linus. "I helped him by bringing him on my date with Janice."
"That's nice." said Charlie Brown.

Rerun and Katie's first stop was at the cinema.

"Oh, so you're treating me to a movie!" said Rerun.

"Sure am." said Katie. "Heard from my friends this is a great one!"
Katie brought Rerun into the theatre, and in there, they saw an alien movie.

"Oh!" said Rerun fearfully.

"This is scary!" cried Katie as she held onto Rerun's arm.

"Oh." Rerun said, looking at her left arm.

"This is where the hero comes in!" said Katie.

"You go!" called out Rerun.

"Ssh!" called Austin.

Behind Katie and Rerun sat the Goose Eggs; Milo, Austin, Ruby, Leland and Carlin.

"Sorry." said Rerun.

After the movie, Rerun and Katie went to the ice cream parlour.

"You know I love ice cream." said Rerun.

"Everyone does." said Katie.

When they got there, much to their shock….

"Emerald?!" exclaimed Katie.

"Oh. Hey." said Emerald.

Emerald turned back to the employee.

"I'll have a triple scoop." said Emerald. "One chocolate, one pistachio, one mint."
"Well, at least she's taking it easier." said Katie.

Emerald got her ice cream, and after her departure, Katie walked up to the counter.

"Two cones please." said Katie. "One strawberry, and one chocolate."
"Coming right up." said the employee.

After paying, Rerun and Katie left the parlour, Rerun with his chocolate ice cream, and Katie with her strawberry ice cream.

"Such a wonderful treat." said Rerun.

"Consider it on the house." said Katie. "After all, don't all dates involve ice cream?"
"Not every date." said Rerun. "Lucy spent her date at Sebastian's."
"Okay." said Katie. "But I heard this was how Tommy had his first date with Frieda."
"Oh." said Rerun. "But still."
"I know another place we could go." said Katie.

Rerun and Katie finished their ice cream, and went back with Snoopy.

"This place will be super fun." said Katie. "I can guarantee it!"

"I wonder where it is?" pondered Rerun.

"What better place to go than Sparkyworld?" Katie said.

"Wow!" Rerun cried.

"Let's go in!" said Katie. "Lots of rides!"

Katie paid for her and Rerun, and they both went into the theme park. The Beethoven section was where Schroeder and Mary Stewart were.

"Oh, Schroeder!" said Mary Stewart.

Mary Stewart rubbed Schroeder's nose, causing him to blush.

Rerun and Katie saw them. Rerun called out.

"Hi, Schroeder!"
"Rerun! Hello!" said Schroeder.
"And look at you two!" said Mary Stewart. "So couply!"
"It's my special treat!" said Katie.

Rerun could only blush.

"Come on, Rerun! To the Sparkycoaster!" Katie said.

Katie brought Rerun to the Sparkycoaster, and much to her chagrin….

"Good grief! It's a long line!"

"I know just the solution." said Rerun.

Rerun pulled on Katie's right pigtail, causing her to scream and let out some tears.

"Mommy! I want my mommy!" Katie sobbed.

Rerun pushed through the queue.

"Pardon us, coming through….."
Both Rerun and Katie walked through the line, Rerun pushing, Katie crying. Once they reached the end of the line, Katie stopped crying.

"Great work, Babe."

The two kids hopped onto the front car. Behind them stepped Floyd and Polly behind them, Thibault and Peggy Jean in the next car, Sally and Harold Angel behind, Pierre and Peppermint Patty behind, and Shermy and Violet behind, and both Marcie and Franklin were at the very back car.

"I hear this was where my cousin met Emily before she moved away." said Katie.

"At least he now has Frie….."
Suddenly, the Sparkycoaster went, sending the train going all along the coaster. Rerun and Katie screamed so loud. Once the ride ended…..

"That was…. a thrill!" cried Rerun.

"I agree." said Katie.

"Such a

"What shall we go on next?" asked Rerun.

"There's a new ride!" said Katie. "Let's go on the Sparky Wheel!"
Katie and Rerun walked over to the Sparky Wheel, and they admired the entire scenery.

"Wow!" exclaimed Rerun. "Sparkyville looks like a toy city from up here!"
"Yeah, such a view!" said Katie. "I knew you'd like it!"

Soon, their day at Sparkyworld was over, and when Rerun and Katie left, there was Snoopy waiting for them.

"There's one more place I'd like to bring you, Rerun." said Katie.

Rerun and Katie hopped into the limousine, and Snoopy drove them all the way to the park outside the city. Rerun and Katie walked along the path, and sat on the bench, with Katie resting her head on Rerun's shoulder. The sun was nearly going down.

"Ah, what a beautiful sunset." said Katie.
"Could it get any oranger?" asked Rerun.

Katie and Rerun stayed a little longer, admiring the sunset.

"I think it's time for us to go home now." said Katie.

"Good grief, you're right!" exclaimed Rerun.

Soon, Snoopy arrived outside the Van Pelt house to drop Rerun off.

"Did you like our day out?" asked Katie.

"No." said Rerun.

"What do you mean no?" quizzed Katie.

"I loved it!" said Rerun. "The movie, the ice cream, our trip to Sparkyworld, our visit to the park!"
"I knew you'd love it!" said Katie. "I loved it too."
"Isn't that nice?" asked Rerun.

"However," said Katie. "There's only one thing I love more than any of the stuff we did today."
"What's that?" asked Rerun.

Katie wrapped her arms around Rerun.

"You!" Katie answered.

Katie kept her arms wrapped around Rerun and squeezed him tighter, hugging him, causing him to blush.

"Oh… er…." Rerun stammered.

"And one more thing, Lester." said Katie.

Katie placed her arms on Rerun's hips and kissed his right cheek.

"That's my way of saying… I love you, Lester. Well, goodnight!"

As Katie hopped back into the limo, Rerun walked inside, blushing bright red.

"So how was your date, Rerun?" asked Linus.

Rerun was blushing so red, he didn't answer immediately.

"Well?" asked Linus.

"I loved it!" said Rerun. "Katie took me to a movie, for ice cream, to Sparkyworld, and to the park! And lastly, she finally admitted her feelings for me!"

Lucy walked in.

"I see you enjoyed your date, did you, Rerun?"
"I really did." said Rerun. "It was amazing!"
"What's going on here?" asked Lianne, Lucy's mother.

"Rerun got back from his date, Mom." said Lucy.

"I can't believe it!" said Lianne. "All my kids, growing up so fast! And they all have a lover in their lives!"
"Lucy has Sebastian." said Rerun. "Linus has Janice, and I have Katie!"

Rerun slumped in his chair. He really was in love, and happier than ever.

Snoopy had dropped Katie off at her place, where Tommy was waiting.

"So how was your date, Cuz?" asked Tommy.

"It was amazing, Cuz!" said Katie. "Lester enjoyed every bit of it! Movie, ice cream, Sparkyworld, and the park!"
"Kind of reminds me of my date with Frieda." said Tommy.

"And it looks like we both have a lover in our lives." said Katie. "You have Frieda, while I have my Lestie!"

"Congratulations, Cuz."
"Thanks, Cuz." said Katie. "Now, I'm off to see how Fred's crawling along without me."
Katie walked inside. There were her parents videoing Fred crawling.

"Hi, Mom, Dad, Fred!" said Katie.

"Hi, Katie!" said Al, Katie's father. "How was your date with Lester?"
"It was amazing!" said Katie. "I finally have a boyfriend."
"Happy for you, Katie." said Al.
"We're happy for you." said Dena.

So Katie went up to her room, and sat on her bed, holding out some photos she got of her and Rerun. One of her wrapping her arms around him, one of her showing a toothed smile, and one of her kissing him.

"I'll always treasure today." said Katie. "After all, I'd always had feelings for my Lestie!"
