Lloyd woke up in a cold sweat as he shot up and looked around his room. The same plain gray walls, gray sheets, gray everything. His father, Lord Garmadon, had raised him ever since Misako, his mother, left him at an early age. He would never let him customize his room, sometimes he wouldn't even let him out of his room, saying that it was 'too late,' and that he should go to bed instead. Lloyd always thought that his dad was hiding something, but he couldn't figure out what it was.
"It's 10:30, it's late. You should get to bed." Garmadon said.
Lloyd was sitting on his bed, listening to his music playlist with his earbuds after waking up. He yanked one out and stared at Garmadon quizzically. "What? I was listening to music. I didn't hear what you said."
"I said that it's 10:30, and you should get to bed."
Lloyd groaned. "Fine, father." Garmadon stalked out of the room and closed the door, as Lloyd got settled into bed. Oni training tomorrow, he thought as he settled back into bed to try and get a good night's sleep. The next morning, Lloyd slowly made his way into the kitchen, where he made himself a simple plate of scrambled eggs. He yawned, and looked at the clock, which read 7:30. Darn, he thought, I'm gonna miss training with Father! Lloyd rushed to get dressed into his favorite dark green sweater and gray ripped jeans, and ran outside in the pavilion to meet Garmadon, who was impatiently waiting for him.
"Where were you?" Garmadon demanded, "You're late to your training!" Lloyd ran up to him as Garmadon shifted fully into his Oni form. "You kids… always up to something."
"Dad! I'm almost 17!" Garmadon turned around and Lloyd's small smile faded, as Garmadon gave him the cold shoulder.
"It's best we get training now." He said, and Lloyd nodded as he concentrated on his Oni form.
"Concentrate! Do not let the darkness control you, you control it." Garmadon barked out orders after seeing the glints of sweat on Lloyd's face. A small burst of purple and green light enveloped Lloyd for a split second as he fell down in defeat, feeling tired and numb. "We'll continue training in five minutes… That green light… I've never seen something like that.. Unless.." Garmadon pondered, stroking his chin with one of his four arms. Lloyd sighed as he drank some of his water.
This green light… What could this mean? Suddenly, he had an idea, he would go spy on his father later that night.
