RAW is WAR: 13/7/1998
RAW is WAR was live at Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Shawn Michaels makes a surprise return and joins JR and the King for commentary. He's even trimmed his hair and shaved and everything! The reason he's back? WCW's Bash at the Beach was so bad, he felt personally responsible to the wrestling fan to come back and hopefully make them all happy again.
The first match of the show was the Bladewolf vs Vader for the first time in one-on-one action.
OOOOOOOOWWWWHHHHOOOOOOO!
The Devil's Wolf played to a loud cheer from the fans as the lights switched to the sinister blood red and dark blue before the Bladewolf walked out with the WWF Intercontinental Championship around his waist. Bladewolf stood at the entrance and adjusted his right elbow pad before he made his way towards the ring.
"The following contest is scheduled for one-fall with a twenty minute time limit." Tony Chimel announced. "Making his way to the ring, from Death Valley, weighing in at 310 lbs, he is the World Wrestling Federation Intercontinental Champion... THE BLADEWOLF!"
"this is a man who is quickly gaining respect in the locker room." JR said. "You can't look at his accomplishments and not have a measure of respect. Especially if you've faced him in the ring."
"Oh yeah." Shawn nodded.
"And Shawn, what do you think of all he's accomplished since your match with him at WrestleMania?" JR asked.
"Very impressive, I must say." Shawn admitted. "There's not been a lot of guys to have achieved that much in under a year, but this guy, the Bladewolf, has done just that. Youngest World Champion, youngest Intercontinental Champion, and now youngest King of the Ring winner. He's not even been here for a year yet, and he's done that. And I got a feeling there will be a lot more to see before he is ready to walk away and quit this job."
The Bladewolf made it to the ring and climbed onto the apron, stepping over the top rope and into the ring. He takes off his Intercontinental title, handing it to someone at ringside as his theme dies down and the lights return to normal.
Var's theme hits and out comes the Mastadon. "And his opponent, from the Rocky Mountains, weighing in at 450 lbs, the man they call... VADER!" Tony Chimel announced before leaving the ring.
"Boy, this is a great night, ladies and gentlemen. HBK is back." JR said. "This is gonna be a slobberknocker between the Blawolf and Vader in their first ever one on one match with each other."
"And don't forget this whole situation with the Undertaker and Stone Cold Steve Austin." Jerry remined. "What do you think Bladewolf thinks about what happened last week?"
"I doubt the Bladewolf really cares, King." JR shrugged.
"Your guess is as good as anyone's, Jerry." Shawn said, shaking his head a little. "Nobody can figure out what Bladewolf thinks except the Bladewolf himself. And I doubt anybody wants to try and take a peek into that man's ha to try an understand how he works. He ain't like the Undertaker, he ain't like Kane, but he seems to be a combination of both."
Vader slides into the ring, and just as he did the lights went out. Kane's theme then played.
"Oh no." Jerry said.
"What is he coming out for?" JR asked.
The pyro exploded and out comes Kane, Paul Bearer and Mankind, who make their way towards the ring.
"And here they come." JR said. "Kane with Paul Bearer and Mankind. But why? There's so much speculation about Kane and Undertaker being in cahoots last week, and that speculation has led to rumors about Bladewolf being in the know about it. Bladewolf is the younger brother of Kane and the Undertaker."
"they are! They all are!" Jerry argued. "They are brothers!"
Kane, Paul Bearer and Mankind stop at the end of the ramp and Kane raises his arms before throwing them down, causing fire to explode from the turnbuckles an th lights return to normal.
"If it wasn't hot enough out here." Shawn quipped.
Not wasting another second, Bladewolf lunged and attacked Vader from behind, causing the referee to call for the bell to be rung.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
"And here we go, the Bladewolf wasting little time." JR said. Bladewolf hammers away at Vader in the corner with a series of lefts and rights. "Getting started here aggressively."
Bladewolf gets Vader on the ropes before Irish whipping him but Vader reverses it and Bladewolf bounces off the ropes, ducks a right from Vader, bounces off the ropes again and floors Vader with a huge clothesline.
"Wow." Shawn mouthed.
"Wow." Jerry repeated.
"Big clothesline there by Bladewolf." JR commented. "Bladewolf is scheduled to face the Rock an Triple H at Fully Loaded for the Intercontinental Championship. He better focus on that an not the problems involving his brothers."
"Right." Shawn nodded. Bladewolf gets to his feet and watches Vader get to his before kicking him in the stomach. "Especially since he's a Champion, he's gotta keep his mind on that and nothing else. I speak from experience."
Bladewolf gets Vader in the corner an lands a big right uppercut, then Irish whips Vader into the opposite corner, runs at him but Vader catches him off guard with a charge and they collide, briefly stunning Bladewolf who stumbles a step, allowing Vader to run, bounce off the ropes and floor the Bladewolf... WHO SITS RIGHT UP FROM IT!
"What a sit-up!" JR exclaimed as the crowd cheered while Vader looked surprised. "Bladewolf just sits right up like he didn't even feel that clothesline of 400 lbs colliding with him."
Vader grabs Bladewolf as he is getting to his feet and brings his forearm down onto his back, but Bladewolf shrugs it off and stands upright before Vader clobbers him in the face. Vader goes on the attack with rights and lefts, driving the Bladewolf back into the corner with the Demon Wolf shrugging off Vader's attacks like he doesn't feel it, just letting Vader hit him out of some sadistic enjoyment that it had no effect at the moment.
Bladewolf then retaliates with a big uppercut that rocks Vader, making him stumble back a step, then Bladewolf knocks him down with a big clothesline.
"Boom! What a clothesline!" JR said.
Bladewolf flips his hair back, then looks to where Kane, Paul Bearer and Mankind were, locking eyes with his brother and there was a staredown between them for a couople of seconds before Bladewolf turned and booted Vader in the side of the head to knock him back down.
"A brief staredown by Kane and the Bladewolf there." JR noted the interaction.
"Look! Cahoots!" Jerry pointed.
JR rolled his eyes. "That doesn't confirm anything."
"Yes, it does!" Jerry nodded.
Bladewolf watches Vader for a moment, watching him stumble to his feet and he turns around... INTO A GOOZLE!
"Oh no!" Jerry exclaimed.
"Oh hahah!" Shawn laughed.
"Vader may be going for a ride! That's 400 lbs!" JR reminded.
Bladewolf manages to lift Vader off his feet... AND PLANTS HIM WITH A CHOKESLAM!
"And he does it! Bladewolf chokeslamming the 400 lbs Vader!" JR said.
Bladewolf stares down at Vader before he flips his hair back and does the throatslit gesture to cheers from the fans before he grabs Vader and pulls him to his feet.
"He's not really going to..." Jerry trailed off as Bladewolf scoops Vader up onto his right shoulder. "Oh my God!"
"Bladewolf with Vader on his shoulder!" JR shouted.
Bladewolf held Vader... AND HITS THE TOMBSTONE PILEDRIVER!
"The Tombstone! Tombstone Piledriver!" JR exclaimed.
Bladewolf held Vader's arms down and glared ahead as the referee counted.
"One!"
"Two!"
"Three! Ring the bell!" The referee called.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
As Bladewolf's theme started to play, Mankind slid into the ring with a steel chair in hand. "Mankind's got a steel chair!" JR shouted.
As Mankind reared the chair back to hit Bladewolf, Kane snatched the chair from the deranged alter ego of Mick Foley just as Bladewolf turned and noticed what was happening
"Mankind was going to nail the Bladewolf, and Kane took the chair from him." JR said.
"I told ya I was right! I told you!" Jerry shouted.
Bladewolf rolled out of the ring and picked up a steel chair. However, Kane reared the chair back... AND STRIKES VADER WITH IT!
"Kane nails Vader!" JR said.
"What?!" Jerry blinked.
"I'm completely lost." Shawn said.
"Was Kane saving his brother or did he want to do the honours?" JR questioned.
"Don't be an idiot, JR. Kane, the Undertaker and the Bladewolf are thick as thieves. It's obvious to me." Jerry said.
Kane's theme played as he, Paul Bearer and Mankind left with Bladewolf watching them go.
The Rock and Owen Hart were taking on Triple H and X-Pac.
Rock cuts off X-Pac with a Samoan Drop and tags in Owen for a flying elbow drop for two. Ross asks Michaels what his relationship is with DX – he's just cool doing commentary right now. Owen whips X-Pac hard into the corner and delivers a Belly to Belly Suplex for two. X-Pac tries a crossbody out of the corner, but Owen ducks and X-Pac crashes. Rock tags in and pounds away in the corner. X-Pac comes back with a spinning heel kick, but Rock floors him with a clothesline. Time for the People's Elbow for 1-2-NO!
Sick of what's going down, Triple H and Chyna stick their noses into the match allowing Rock to punch X-Pac in the dick. Rock goes over to yell at Chyna, Owen heads down the apron to yell at Chyna thus distracting the ref, and Triple H wallops the Rock in the face with the European title. X-Pac rolls over onto the Rock for 1-2-NO! The Rock knocks Triple H off the apron, but turns around into the X-FACTOR as X-Pac picks up the upset win.
As DX leaves and the Rock and Owen recover. the crowd cheers when the Bladewolf comes out from underneath the ring an slides into the ring!
"It's The Bladewolf!" JR shouted.
"Where did he come from?!" Jerry screamed.
"Oh hoho! Look out, Rock!" Shawn laughed with a smile.
The Rock turned... INTO A GOOZLE! Bladewolf lifts the Rock up... AND PLANTS HIM WITH A CHOKESLAM!
"Chokeslam to the Rock!" JR exclaimed. "Bladewolf chokeslamming one of the two men he will face in a Triple Threat match at Fully Loaded, with the Intercontinental title on the line!"
Owen rushes at Bladewolf, who ducks and Owen turns only to be lifted up into a fireman's carry... AND HIT WITH THE FURY OF THE WOLF!
"Oh!" Shawn exclaimed.
"The Bladewolf just laying out the Rock and Owen Hart!" JR said.
Bladewolf gets to his feet and stares down at the two men before he leaves the ring under his music.
After the Marc Mero vs. Steve Blackman match, the next one was The New Age Outlaws vs. Kane & Mankind for the WWF Tag Team Championship.
Before the match began, the Bladewolf came out to ringside and stood there to watch. No one knows why he's out here but are too afraid for their lives to go ask him.
When the match begins, Mankind starts out biting away on Road Dogg, but the NAO quickly fight back and start working on Mankind's shoulder. Gunn drills Mankind with an armbreaker DDT and then instructs him to "suck it". Mankind rolls out and takes a belt shot to the shoulder by Chyna. Bladewolf sees it happening, but does nothing about it. Back inside, Mankind misses a corner charge and runs his shoulder into the post.
Gunn tries a double sledge from the middle rope, but flies down into the MANDIBLE CLAW. Road Dogg punches Mankind in the face to stop that. Tag to Kane, Road Dogg prevents Gunn from taking a Chokeslam, but Gunn still gets nailed with a clothesline by Mankind.
To the floor, Mankind whips Billy knees first into the steps. Meanwhile, the Rock and Owen Hart waltz down the aisle. Gunn and Mankind collide to set up the HOT TAG TO ROAD DOGG!
JR hypes Austin and Undertaker meeting Kane and Mankind at Fully Loaded. HBK – "Worlds colliding! Worlds colliding!" Shake Rattle and Roll to Kane stuns him, but doesn't knock him down. Gunn grabs Mankind for a nice piledriver. Together, the NAO punch Kane until he's doubled over for the FAMOUSER.
Triple H and X-Pac head out to beat up Owen and Rock. As Mark Henry comes down to help out, Gunn goes out to even the score and help his DX buddies because he's not in the ring to see D'Lo Brown come out of nowhere to give Road Dogg a Frog Splash while wearing his dreaded chest protector! While D'Lo makes a run for it, Kane delivers the TOMBSTONE to Road Dogg and picks up the win and the tag titles.
Bladewolf looks on for a moment longer before he takes his leave.
After the Too Much & TAKA Michinoku vs. Kaientai match had passed, Vince McMahon comes out to the ring to a negative reaction from the crowd.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the owner of the World Wrestling Federation... MR. MCMAHON!" Tony Chimel announced.
Vince walks up the steel steps and enters the ring, taking the offered microphone from Tony Chimel who then leaves the ring as the fans continue to boo Vince.
"Thank you very much for that warm tri-state reception." Vince started. "Right now, or in a few moments, I will address whether or not we will have the WWF Tag Team title rematch in this ring."
"What?" Jerry blinked.
"However, at this moment, I would like to introduce to you the most demonic, twisted soul in the history of the WWF along with its younger, equally destructive and dark brother. The Undertaker and the Bladewolf!" Vince pointed to the stage.
The Undertaker's theme plays and he makes his way to the ring alongside the Bladewolf, who had his Intercontinental Championship around his waist. The brothers enter the ring an Undertaker's theme dies down as they stand across from Vince.
"Well, aren't we proud of ourselves as of late?" Vince asked, looking at Undertaker who didn't so much as look at Vince. "My goodness, what won't you do to become the WWF Champion? Let's just revisit Hell in a Cell if we may. Look what you did to Mankind. The only hell was experienced by Mankind, not you. You were making a statement. Nothing or nobody will get in your way of becoming the WWF Champion. And then, not withstanding, you and your brother, chokeslamming every WWF Superstar on the roster into oblivion. Of course, then you had to go and pull that stunt of last week. I must say, that was a bit of genius. You fooled everybody, including me, and I'm not easy to fool."
"Right." Jerry nodded.
"Well..." Shawn trailed off.
"However, the question is whether or not you're doing this on whether or not, last week, you had some help from your brother, Kane." Vince continued, making Undertaker look at him. "And now, the question on everybody's mind concerning you also concerns your youngest brother, Bladewolf. After all, he takes orders from nobody except you. You may have told him to do whatever he wants in order to not be suspicious. Now you've refused to answer, your brother, Bladewolf, has refused to answer, the question put to you. You both won't refuse Vince McMahon. So now, the question is, Undertaker and Bladewolf, are you in cahoots with your brother, Kane?"
Undertaker and Bladewolf just stared at Vince.
"Answer me." Vince demanded.
Undertaker narrowed his eyes. "You want an answer?" He snatched the microphone close and glared into Vince's eyes. "You can go to hell."
"What?" Jerry's eyes widened.
Vince backed up a little. "Who do you-Who do you think you are?"
"He's the Undertaker." JR answered.
Undertaker and Bladewolf approached Vince menacingly, backing him into the corner, when Stone Cold Steve Austin's theme hits to a loud reaction from the fans and the WWF Champion makes his way to the ring. Bladewolf, Undertaker and Vince turn to look at Austin, who enters the ring and goes to the four corners to do his arm raising pose with the title before he stops to grab a microphone as his theme dies down.
"The Undertaker just told you to go to hell, so spin around, I'll kick you in the ass and give you a little headstart." Austin told Vince before turning his attention to the brothers. "As far as the Undertaker goes, we are on the highway to hell right to SummerSlam for the WWF Title. And I will say, at least you had the decency to challenge me man-to-man, face to face, and I can respect that. But there is a little problem, because on the way to SummerSlam, there is a little roadblock. It's me and you as partners against Kane and Mankind. So I don't know what the hell's going on with you and your brothers, but what I want to know right now... is it gonna be you and me against two opponents or is it gonna be Stone Cold Steve Austin against three or four opponents. All i want to know is where you're coming from?"
"Now we're gonna find out." Jerry said.
Undertaker took the microphone. "You go to hell with him."
"What?" Jerry blinked.
"Woah." Shawn whistled.
DX's theme then hit and the group makes their way to the ring. Bladewolf shifts a little as he stares right at Triple H, watching the man get into the ring and take the microphone from Vince.
"You know, it seems that everybody here in the WWF wants answers." Triple H started. "But with all due respect to probably the three toughest SOBs in this business today, DX would like some answers from you, Mr. McMahon."
"What's the question?" Jerry asked.
"But before I ask the question whether the Outlaws get a rematch vs Kane and Mankind tonight, I'm gonna tell you the answer. The answer is yes." Triple H said firmly. "The Outlaws are going to get their rematch tonight. The Outlaws vs Kane and Mankind. And what you're gonna get? You're gonna get to find out whether the Undertaker and his brothers are in cahoots."
"How's that?" Jerry asked.
"What you're going to do is give us four referees." Triple H said, making Vince confused. "One on the inside, and three special enforcers on the outside. The Undertaker, the Bladewolf and Stone Cold Steve Austin."
"What?" Jerry's eyes widened.
"Wow. Now that's an idea." JR approved.
"You got it! You got it!" Vince smiled at the idea.
"So what you're saying is we get our match?" Triple H asked, getting a nod from Vince. "Then we've only got two words for you, McMahon. SUCK IT!"
DX's theme plays as they leave the ring. Triple H staring at Bladewolf and motioning to the Intercontinental title before RAW went to commercial break.
When the main event of Kane & Mankind vs. The New Age Outlaws for the WWF Tag Team Championship came about, with the Undertaker, Bladewolf and Stone Cold Steve Austin as the special enforcers, the Outlaws hot to trot to start.
Gunn picks up half the stairs and hits Mankind in the face. With Mankind down, Gunn and Road Dogg tear down Kane at the knees. Now they go after Mankind for a double suplex on the ramp, but Kane knocks them over with a double clothesline before the damage is done. Back in, Kane and Mankind abuse Road Dogg on their side of town. Kane hits a Side Slam and the Flying Clothesline for two.
Mankind delivers a swinging neckbreaker for another nearfall. More corner abuse on Road Dogg. Billy Gunn comes into the ring and simply takes over while Road Dogg goes to the apron.
The ref takes a Stinger Splash from Gunn and now he's done. Kane and Road Dogg take center stage. Kane headbutts Road Dogg, but Road Dogg low blows him and puts Kane in an inside cradle! Austin slides into the ring to count the pinfall, but UNDERTAKER PULLS HIM OUT OF THE RING! Now they go nose to nose. Kane gives Road Dogg a Chokeslam. Now Bladewolf slides into the ring to count the pinfall, but Austin pulls him out to the floor to stop the count. As they go nose to nose again, Kane blindsides Austin and chokes him down into the corner.
Taker punches Mankind into another corner for a preview of Fully Loaded. And Bladewolf goes after Triple H. Here comes the Nation to beat up on the New Age Outlaws. The rest of D-Generation X comes out to join the party. Austin fights back and gives Kane a STONE COLD STUNNER! It's BONZO GONZO.
RAW went off the air with everyone fighting as Bladewolf gives Triple H a Chokeslam.
And that's it for this one. Sorry for the rushed ending.
