Chapter 27; Rupert's Drop

Kirishima nodded, "Then what do we do?!" The male Red Riding Hood asked through grit teeth, still on the defense as Kaminari kept raining attacks on his classmate, "They are attacking us, we can't just do nothing! Then we'll die!" Bakugo smashed the two faceless puppets together and threw them, "Plus I don't think Bakubro cares-"

"I-" Izuku pushed Dark Shadow away and touched a newfound gash on his arm, "I don't know! We can't treat them the same way we dealt with Silver, they are too deep in whatever trance they are in. Tokoyami should be unconscious right now, but he isn't," Silver pushed himself off the wall as Koda tried to punch him in the gut, "There is something else behind this. Perhaps the doll?" Izuku just barely dodged another hit and he breathed a shaken exhale, "That doesn't feel right, I don't think the doll is doing this itself."

Bakugo growled and his hands lit with explosions, "Well it's doing SOMETHING! All these freaking mindless shells are protecting it!" Uraraka stepped out of the shadows before launching herself at Bakugou, "Dang it, they just keep coming! DIE!"

"NO! DON'T DIE!" Izuku quickly yelled in panic, "We need a solution that doesn't involve murder!"

Silver ran forward again, dodging the hands reaching for him. Tails Doll was using these puppets as a shield, most likely to wear the heroes down. The closer he got to the haunted doll, the darker it got. The candles could only light up so much. Silver was launched again as he was grabbed by the hands of another hidden person. The costumed psychic yelped again as he collided with the wall, just narrowly missing Koda. He gripped his torso and slowly got up, Iida growing increasingly worried with Silver's attempts to do whatever he planned.

"Silver!" The class president yelled, "You can't run straight at them, that isn't working! You're the weakest of all of us, you shouldn't even be fighting at all!" He struggled as Shoji jumped on top of Iida, "We need-" Iida grunted and kicked Shoji off him, "A plan!"

"Just give me a minute!" Silver yelled, frustrated and panicked with the stress of the situation. Despite Iida's warning, the psychic again ran towards the circle of mindless beings.

This time, Silver crossed his arms as he approached. Once one of the faceless puppets reached out, the freshman flung his hands out with a much-exaggerated stomp. Bright cyan rushed forward, lifting the possessed zombies into the air and giving Silver a straight clean shot to Tails Doll. The pain simultaneously flared, what a headache! He didn't have time to worry about that though, Silver ran forward and reached for Tails Doll. Despite the effort, the untouched puppets quickly filled the hole as if they were water. His fingers brushed against the angler fish-like gem, the glowing gem swayed softly from the touch but Silver was once again flung backwards. Izuku groaned seeing Silver mercilessly being tossed back into the wall.

"What are you trying to accomplish with that?!" Izuku shouted with his voice full of exasperation and worry, "You're not even supposed to use your quirk! You're too injured!" Izuku yelped in surprise as another faceless puppet jumped on him from behind.

The costumed psychic rose again, wiping the blood from his mouth, "I need to try!" Silver's face scrunched up in a fierce look of determination, "I have an idea, I just need to get to Tai-'' He bit his tongue, that was a close slip up, "...That doll, I need to try!" Silver swallowed harshly as Todoroki launched at Ashido, their classmates were mindless missiles at this point.

With a leap of hope, he tried to get through the sea of possessed innocent people once again. Mimicking his earlier actions, he mentally lifted a handful of people, just enough for a clear reach at Tails Doll. Silver reached forwards, so…close! His cape fluttered as the inner circle around Tails Doll lit up, Bakugo having launched a large explosion into the sea of mindless people. The explosive wear-pomeranian rolled his eyes with a gruff huff, having saved Silver from being launched back.

"Stupid Pigtails," Bakugo mumbled as he grabbed a masked person and Aoyama by their faces, "This better work!" The angry hero smashed the two mindless puppets in the head.

Silver completely ignored Bakugou's shouts, he had an opening that was what he needed. The ivory-haired psychic reached forward and grabbed Tails Doll, the haunted doll biting Silver's hand upon impact. Silver pinned the Doll down, how did it even have teeth-?! His brain ran and ran, what now?! What NOW?! He hadn't thought this far! His honey eyes landed on that red gem again as it swung around while Tails Doll squirmed. Silver hissed, he hated this doll and its stupid gem. So, out of spite, the time traveler grabbed the doll's gem dangling from its head. The psychic ripped it off, then threw it on the floor and stomped on it dramatically. Silver wanted Tails Doll to understand the pain it was causing, he wanted the doll to just freaking be normal. Silver stomped on it, bringing his metal heel down upon the crimson gem multiple times. It cracked, cracked, and shattered. The glow died out from the gem and Silver continued to stomp on the gem, just to put salt in the wound. He turned back to the haunted doll in his hand yet Tails Doll was lifeless.

Silver froze, still having his hands wrapped around the doll in a chokehold. What…just happened? His ears tilted in confusion, was this a prank…? A clunk behind Silver made the boy freeze, then there was another and another, and then multiple. The hedgie boy turned around and his eyes widened seeing his once mindless classmates groaning in confusion. His eyes widened, the masked dudes were gone, only their masks remained…and his class had broken out of the trance…how did he do this-?! Silver looked at the limp doll, it was truly just a normal plushie now. Had…Had the gem been the key this whole time?! It was so obvious! How did he not realize it before?! (A\N; That would be my fault, I didn't know how to defeat Tails Doll-) Silver stared in shock before looking at the crushed gem under his boot, so…it was the gem? Tails Doll was invincible like…like a Prince Rupert's Drop…but his gem was the equivalent to a Rupert's Drop tail…? Huh…so that meant Tails Doll…was just a normal doll now?

"Whoa…that was trippy…"

"What happened?"

"Are you ok?! You have a big cut on your arm-!"

"Oh…hi…?"

Hearing the confusion from his classmates, Silver stared at the plush still in his hands. It… did look like Tails…maybe a little creepier, but since Silver had broken the gem, the doll didn't look half as creepy. Just a little ragged and some details were off. Silver gently pulled at the limp string hanging off Tails Doll's head…he frowned. The hedgie boy felt a lot of sadness seep into him as he stared at the doll that mimicked his friend's appearance. He also felt a little sick if he was gonna be honest, but that could have been from anything. Bakugo frowned as he silently watched Silver, he didn't understand why the psychic alien hedgehog-boy wasn't just throwing the doll away. Or burning it. But instead just staring at it with a sad and distant look.

Izuku came up towards Bakugo but the explosive teen shoved Deku back without a glance. The emerald-haired freshman huffed a little when Bakugo shoved him away. Deku raised an eyebrow in quiet confusion seeing his childhood friend stuck on something else, he slowly turned to watch Silver. Izuku made a soft 'oh' sound and frowned a little. Izuku wasn't sure how to feel about watching while Bakugo struggled to understand what Silver was doing. The hedgie-boy softly brushed the string out of the doll's eyes, with a little tune-up, Tails Doll would be a beautiful comforting mimic of Tails. Silver wasn't especially close to Tails, but they were friends. And Silver missed him…a lot…he missed his home…the psychic took a breath and put Tails Doll into his pocket. If the doll was possessed anymore…Silver needed the comfort and the reminder of his home. He quickly brushed off that sentimental moment he had with the doll that was earlier trying to eat Aoyama's face. At least that's something they both had in common.

Silver turned around, still, Izuku was right. Tails Doll being the- Silver jumped upon seeing both Bakugou and Izuku had been watching. For how long? Silver didn't know. Did they watch him shove the doll into his pocket? The ivory psychic grimaced, by the looks on their faces…yes. Izuku had a look of empathy and concern while Bakugo was looking disgusted. Silver quickly waved his hands in defense.

"I-It's not like that!" Silver mumbled in panic as he began to sweat, he wasn't exactly sure what it looked like honestly, but it probably looked bad, "I-I-" Silver stuttered to find the correct words for a quick and quiet explanation before the rest of his class heard when Aoyama came prancing up. Silver quickly yeeted Aoyama into a wall with a half-hearted thought, "I'll explain later…" Silver mumbled under his breath as Kirishima shouted in alarm, seeing Aoyama fly into the wall like a ragdoll.

Izuku turned around and stared at Aoyama in horror and panic while Bakugou rolled his eyes, "Whatever…You better…" Bakugou at least seemed to get the hint that this was a 'Silver having an alien hedgehog moment' kinda deal.

Silver pulled at the collar of his shirt and cape with a bit of sweat. He sighed though as he looked around, was that it? Was that the whole end of the fight? Just smash a small gem and it's over? That seemed…much easier than Silver expected…The class began gathering together, the talk of finally getting out of this cursed place bubbling in the conversation. Silver, Bakugo, and Izuku all walked up to the class and the psychic glanced around. The pain of his injury began to seep back into his system as he sighed. This was an exhausting night, but it wasn't over till they were tucked safely under their covers in Heights Alliance. They began to talk about theories and ideas to escape but Silver was zoned out, staring at the candle again. He wasn't lost in memories, just sleepily staring with little thought crossing his mind.

Silver yelped and stumbled forward, knocking into his best friend as a strong unknown force pushed him forward. Too strong to be a breeze and too precise. The psychic grumbled as the unknown force pushed him again, beating on his already sore back like an upset child. Izuku stumbled back as Silver kept leaning into him unintentionally, the emerald trainee looked confused at the ivory hedgie-boy.

"Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch," Silver grimaced with each invisible punch, "Hagakure, is that you?! Stop, dang it! I'm already hurt!" The hedgie-boy whined and tried to push the attacker away.

"...Im…over here…" Hagakure's voice sounded by Uraraka and Ashido, laced with fear and concern. Silver screamed in alarm that his invisible attacker wasn't his classmate, quickly turning around and waving his arms around in the arm.

Yet his hands never collided with anything. That terrified him more. Rogue ghost beating up his back! Silver panted and brought himself to a calming stop when he didn't feel any more attacks. His class looked concerned as he mumbled a shaken explanation. The ivory psychic gave up his explanation as it only came out as sputtered panic, which wasn't helping anyone. Silver frowned, what…just happened? Was that a ghost-? Mineta screamed as he was launched forwards with a reason, Momo cried out as nothingness began pulling at her hair and Tokoyami grunted holding his knee. Well…that was a ghost…it was probably mad they were still here. Silver fiddled with his inhibitor rings, he didn't have enough energy in this state to try and reach out for the ghost. With a soft ping, Silver took off one of his rings. This was a risk, he couldn't control his power very well with his rings off, but they needed to get out. Quickly. Silver didn't want anyone to get possessed anymore, so off go the rings.

"Hold these…" Silver murmured to Izuku, handing his friend the priceless limiters, "I'll deal with this last freaking ghost…" Izuku fumbled with the four golden rings and raised an eyebrow but nodded, trusting Silver's judgment.

Silver let the smallest amount of power he could manage to flood through his system. The struggle to contain his power was immediate, but due to the UA training, it was a little easier to manage. His amber orbs glossed over with a soft cyan hint. The psychic had to blend using his mind's power to see and his own eyes, which was difficult but with just a little power it was easier. Silver jumped backwards seeing a fairly angry ghost far too close to his face. Unlike the earlier ghost, Silver could see this one. Still only in multiple shades of teal though. But this ghost had a face, albeit a very clearly mad one, but it was still a face. Silver glanced around and felt his heart drop, those…masked people from before…they were all ghosts. Some were crying and others were confused. There were so many ghosts, hundreds if not thousands. Those masks must have been some sort of seal to make them visible and interactive with the living world-? Yet…there were only like 70, maybe 90, of those masked guys. There were so many other ghosts in this room alone. All different sizes, ages, and quirks. It caused Silver's heartbreak and his stomach churn.

"Uh… you're so pale it could brighten this room." Kaminari noted and poked Silver's cheek, the hedgie-boy locked on the thousands of ghosts in the towering room, "What are you looking at?"

Silver could only stare in dread and sorrow, so many…so many innocent souls…Their whispers and cries were unheard by anyone for years. He wanted to run away and yet…he also wanted to hug them all…except the mad one. Silver snapped out of his thoughts when the mad ghost slapped him in the face.

"Hey!"

The ghost hissed, "You! You ruined this! You ruined my plan!" The ghost's voice was wispy and somewhat distant, signifying the difference in realms, "You freaking jerk! Stupid cat! Feel pain!" He hissed and kicked Silver in the leg, like a child throwing a tantrum.

"Hedgehog! I'm a hedgehog! Not a cat!" Silver growled back to the ghost, making the ghost freeze in shock, "At least get your insults right! Geez, and stop kicking me!" Being petty, Silver kicked the ghost back. The mad ghost yelped and his eyes widened, Silver heard him…and kicked him?!

The ghost was shocked that anyone could interact with him, for a long moment he just stared with his eyes wide and his jaw dropped. Silver rubbed his leg, sure he looked a little schizophrenic towards his class, but he was just too aggravated to care. Silver was exhausted, hungry, in pain, and just over this stupidly long and annoying night. His first Halloween was impressionable. The psychic had little patience left to deal with an undead adult who acted like a 3-year-old. The ghost snapped out of his shock and glowered at Silver.

"So you can hear me? See me? Kick me?!" The ghost questioned and Silver's amber orbs pierced darkly at the ghost, "...well then, HEDGEHOG, I. Hate. You. YOU HEAR ME?! I HATE YOU!" Silver rolled his eyes and stuck out his tongue, "DON'T MOCK ME!"

The ivory psychic stood and leaned towards the ghost, "I'm gathering quite the hateful fan club, aren't I?" He squinted with an unimpressed annoyance and the ghost looked confused, "Listen, ghost dude, stop throwing a fit. You How many years old and acting like a toddler?" The ghost gawked and growled while Silver sighed, "I'm sleepy and in pain, so you stop being a pain and we'll get up and out of your haunted house, ok? Deal?"

The ghost shook with anger about Silver's nonchalant behavior, the psychic's current attitude was totally out of character, but he was just very freak'n tiring, "NO! NO DEAL! First time in years someone can see or hear me and I get a bratty KID?! Who do you think you are?!" The ghost got nice and close to Silver's face, "You came stomping into MY home, just like THEY did! You come in here and take EVERYTHING I worked so hard on, JUST LIKE THEM! Why can't I just get what I want and exist in peace?! Why do people have to destroy everything?! What did I do to you?!" Silver frowned as he felt the ghost's cold hands on his shoulders. He wasn't sure if the undead man was talking about the thousands of ghosts or if he was talking about someone in his living life… "What did IIIII DOOOOOO?!" Silver's ears bent back upon hearing the ghost whine loudly like a child.

Izuku looked concerned, watching this conversation one-sided was…concerning. "First, get off me. Second, I don't know. Third, who is 'they'?" The psychic pushed the ghost off him, trying to keep up with the conversation he was having with the ghost as well as keep control over his power, which was frustrating to do without his rings…but it was also the only way to see the ghost.

"THEEEEEY is who came onto my land and destroyed my home! Some stupid government agents or mafia dudes, I don't know or care, came into my home and destroyed my life. They mistook me for some stupid villain! Some heroes they are! They killed me without hesitation, and I WAS INNOCENT!" …dang, ok, that was rough. Silver had to give the ghost that much, he had a reason to be upset by those standards, "When they realized their mistake, they demolished my home and erased my existence to hide their mistake! They made it some freaking…mental hospital! My quirk is a curse, I'm stuck as a freaking ghost forever! So I became the villain they thought I was." Silver's face fell, aaaaand there goes all the respect, "Taking everyone down with me, all these souls are part of my army. For justice."

Silver shook his head, dismayed with how this poor man's life and afterlife turned out, "Ok…that sucks. But becoming a villain doesn't solve anything. Even if you were to get that 'justice', would you be satisfied? Or would you want more? Look at how many innocent people you are involved in this." Silver waved his arms around him, hoping to persuade the ghost to calm down and find closure for this poor guy, "Why drag the innocent into your mess at all? You're no better than them at that point, and making them your…your puppet? That's not ok…" The ghost launched forward and dug his cold fingers into Silver's cape.

"Not ok?! You know what's not ok?! The fact they killed me! They took my family! I don't care how many innocent lives I take, I'll take them all if that means justice!" Silver's ears perked in alarm, that was the OPPOSITE direction! How frick does Sonic just talk the pained out of villainy?! Perhaps this man had been harboring this rage and pan for too long, maybe Silver couldn't convince him.

"... that's…" Silver sighed, trying to figure out what to do. He didn't have the way with words Sonic or Amy did, he was sure if either of them were here they could de-escalate this poor man's rage. Heck, even Shadow could if he cared enough. Silver…just didn't know how. He could relate to the ghost, having his life destroyed despite being innocent… "Listen, what they did wasn't ok. I never said it was. But what you did, that wasn't ok either. Or justified. These innocent souls need to rest, not be some army you make out of anger." Iida raised an eyebrow while Kamiarni was trying to help Mineta up.

The ghost hissed, he wasn't going to give up his train of thought. Silver didn't have the energy to fight this ghost and their messed up idea of justice. He didn't have the words to calm down the undead man. The ghost raised a hand to slap Silver again when a hand stopped the ghost. It was another undead person, she quickly tried to calm the man down. Silver stepped away from the livid ghost and looked at his class.

"I suck at calming down spirits…" Silver mumbled sourly, "I think I made him more mad, we gotta go." Izuku's eyes widened as Bakugo threw one of Silver's rings at his head. Silver yelped and threw it back at Bakugo who caught it, "Don't hit me! I tried! Ok?!" Silver glanced back at the seething ghost who was biting the air like a rabid dog as a few more unresting spirits ran over to the crazy mad guy. Silver glanced around for an exit, he couldn't exactly see one…but he did spot the ghost that had possessed him. The masked ghost gestured for Silver to follow and the psychic frowned…this was a risk, but he was willing to take it. "Come on, follow me." Silver began walking towards the only masked ghost. Now that he could see it, the mask it had on was much different than the ones the other ghosts had been wearing.

Class 1-A blindly followed Silver, the ghost Silver was following moved a panel away from the wall which led back to the main room they had entered. Silver was surprised and followed the ghost's lead. Everyone was quiet as they walked, coming out from under the grand towering staircase they had seen in the first room they entered. Silver frowned, so…were they in the basement just now? Or was this place just a maze with no logical sense? The ghost turned around and took off its mask, proving to be a small little girl. The long robe she wore kept her mostly hidden except for her face. Silver's heart broke, children had also been hurt by this?

"I apologize for him…and I apologize for possessing you earlier…" She whispered and Silver blinked as his class exited from under the broken staircase, "I panicked feeling your existence, I thought it was him. I was trying to counter Ikari, the man you met just a few moments ago." The girl bowed softly, "That's not an excuse though. I'm very sorry for my behavior." HOW WAS THIS LITTLE GIRL MORE MATURE THAN THE MAN?! Silver stared in shock as Izuku poked him.

"Silver, are you ok…? Can we leave…?" Izuku whispered and Silver glanced towards his friend, then back to the girl.

"You may call me Amai. I will deal with Ikari the best I can." She murmured and looked at her mask with a distant frown, "I can only do so much, the only way this place can rest is for proper care. Ikari needs a proper funeral to rest, even if there is nobody, just honor in his name." Silver's eyes widened a little, he didn't even know this man, and his information was buried…Silver nodded. If this is what that mad ghost needed to rest peacefully, then he could do that, "I'm sorry to ask such a big favor upon you, but everyone else who entered here has died and become his puppet." She looked directly at Silver, "You don't have to, but that's how most of the innocent here will rest." Amai pointed towards the door, "There isn't a moment to spare, leave this place quickly."

Silver hesitated before nodding, "Everything's fine, let's go." Silver grabbed his rings back and waved a quick goodbye to Amai before snapping his rings back on and she disappeared from his sight.

Silver was fairly sure they were going to have to fight Ikari, but safely getting out without a fight was much preferred. Kirishima burst the doors open and the trapped students bottlenecked to get out as fast as possible. Once they were out, the door slammed behind them. Izuku grabbed Silver's hand and ran. They all ran back to UA, sweaty, bloody, and shaken. They were met with worried teachers and Aizawa's scarves. All Might hugged the students tight with panic and Aizawa sighed, he had been worrying as well. Silver laughed awkwardly as the teachers all responded with various strong reactions, all steaming from worry. Sure, all of 1-A got detention. But at least they were safe. Aizawa berated them with questions about where they were and what happened. All Might cried happily; they were safe. Recovery Girl had to heal them all with worried and relieved kisses. Midnight scolded them motherly and Nezu got all the teachers off the student's back.

"They had a long night, let them rest. But tomorrow, we need answers, ok kids?" Nezu came to a good compromise between the two sides and both teacher and student alike agreed. Silver was so happy to snuggle up under his covers, he hated the detention idea but at least he wasn't possessed anymore. Detention over possessed. He smiled at the warmth surrounding him, Recovery Girl's quirk and Silver's exhaustion making him fall asleep in a matter of seconds.

SilverPsychic; *Dies*

Izuku; …WHAT THE HECK?!

SilverPsychic; *Sits up* I'm so sorry this took forever. But now we can get back on track my friends! Also for the dude hoping to see Black Whip and Smoke Screen, they are coming, I promise! *Cries* Thank you all for your feedback, and thank you for bearing with me while I died slowly writing a much too-long Halloween skit.

Silver; It's OVERRRRR! Finally! But now what? Since you kinda messed up the timeline- *frowned and cleared throat while Psy laughed nervously* …You left a big hole for November where the School Festival was supposed to go. You COULD turn around and fix that mess, or just fill November with something else.

SilverPsychic; …Yeah…it's hard because they don't specify what happened in what month so…oops. The context for that flew right over my head. Good question though…I think I'm probably gonna leave it how it is and fill November with some of the things I left unanswered from earlier chapters. I mean, you have been at UA for like 3 months now, and you're STILL not an official student-

Silver; True. U.A. has been lacking in that.

SilverPsychic; Well, since November is now free, I can fix that! All right, my Chaos Born Heroes! Time for the preview! NEXT TIME! Principal's Office! We get a little peek at Silver's Cafe Job, our psychic gets a worried text and Nezu gets a little more screen time! As well as some funny contact names. See you around for Chapter 28! Have a wonderful day/night!
