SilverPsychic; HAHAHA NO SUCKERS! THIS HAS NOOOOOT BEEN DISCONTINED!…I have so much to say. And a lot of apoliges! The manga has finished, though I haven't read it, it was bittersweet to learn that it ended while I was still in the fandom. I…I want to say congratulations to Horikoshi for finishing MHA. After a decade of work, I'm so happy to watch it grow and end. Thank you for bringing Izuku and all the rest of the cast into the world Horikoshi. 3
Silver; That is nice and all…but it doesn't explain why you've been gone for months.
SilverPsychic; Oh, yeah. Uh…. that's because Grammerly has sucked. And my internet was being a bugger.
Izuku; Now that MHA has ended, does that mean you have an ending for MHedgieA?
SilverPsychic; …Well…noooo? Not exactly.. Anyway- GUESS WHO DOESN'T OWN MHA OR SONIC! SONIC BELONGS TO SEGA AND MHA BELONGS TO HORIKOSHI!
Chapter 35; Wild Wild Who Now-?
Silver opened the doors to Heights Alliance, a familiar sight once again playing before his eyes. The class was talking amongst themselves, and Silver happily walked up to Sato and showed off the shopping bag he was holding. Sato grinned, a festival of taffies awaited. Eri had been allowed to stay in the teacher's dorms now, she was officially a child adopted -sort of- by the teachers. The class only got a little time to greet Eri to her new home, due to Aizawa being snippy and urging them back to their dorms. They were supposed to have visitors later. Silver and Sato had planned to make sweets today, but Silver chose to get extra ingredients so the visitors could have some too. Kaminari tried to sneak a peek at the ingredients but Silver rushed to the kitchen with Sato.
Sato grabbed the bowls and pots needed, Silver laid out the ingredients and put on an apron. He pulled his hair up, Silver pulled out his hair band and brushed his hair into a ponytail. He didn't exactly want to get hair in the taffies. After a wash of the hands (Silver kept his gloves on) they got to work. They melted and boiled the sugar and cornstarch, following the recipe. Once it was at temperature, they added the other ingredients such as corn syrup, water, butter, and salt. Once that was at its needed temperature they added the soft orange coloring and flavor then laid it out on a few sheets. Once it was time to knead it, Silver found it was fairly sticky and he hesitated. Sato began working on the flavor and color, unknowing of Silver's hesitation.
"Hmm?" Sato turned around once he heard the water running, his eyes widening as Silver slipped off his gloves, "Oh? What's going on?"
Silver lowered his hands and washed them quickly, "The taffy is too sticky for me to work with my gloves on." Silver murmured and shifted to dry off his hands.
He hated being without his gloves, he slid them in his pocket and shuffled over to the table where the taffy was. (A\N; Why do you think that is? Why does Silver hate being without his gloves? The answer is pretty interesting. I'll leave it up to theories for now though!) Silver grabbed the warm taffy and quickly began working at the sticky candy, hoping and failing to work fast enough so Sato wouldn't question his odd behavior.
"Oh," Sato paused, staring directly at Silver's bare hands as they worked at the taffy, "I guess that's true," Silver's ears went back, he hated that stare…it was like Sato had never seen hands before.
"What?"
The baker flinched a little, Silver himself flinched at the harshness of his tone, "Oh I just," He paused, glancing from the bare hands to amber eyes, "I never thought- I've never- I didn't think you were gonna take off your gloves. You're always wearing them." Sato smiled awkwardly as Silver pulled one of his hands away from the sticky candy, "But your hands look normal, like g-good normal."
Silver himself paused, taking a moment to calm the feelings inside him and staring at his bare hand. It was such an abnormal sight for him, not too abnormal because he knew what his hands looked like but still. Silver frowned, his hands tattered with scars and burns, memories of when blades got past his gloves or fire melted his gloves to his hands. He cringed at the thought of having to repeal scolding fabric from mangled skin. The psychic knew most heroes had scars, heck, Izuku had scars on his hands…but Silver's hands were covered in them. As if he put his hand through a dicer and then over boiling water. Silver was thankful his hands were not worse, mangled, or disfigured. Instead, they were just…painted with painful mistakes. Yet his psychic marks, the same rings that were imprinted on his gloves, pulsed softly to his heart. It felt so…raw…seeing his hands without gloves, better yet feeling things without them on. He sighed and shook his head from his thoughts, taking a more light-hearted approach.
"What did you expect? Claws like a werewolf?" Silver laughed despite his uncomfortableness of the situation, he went back to kneading the taffy.
The psychic hadn't had an especially close relationship with Sato before, but he hoped to get to know his classmate more, and being around him without his gloves on was sure doing that, "Er, well I don't know." Sato turned back to kneading his bit of taffy as he admitted, "I never really thought about it, but I guess so? I kinda just assumed you were insecure about something. Maybe an effect of your quirk. Or that it was part of something to help you keep your quirk under control?" Silver found the taffy was like quicksand and would swallow his hand up if he let it.
"Oh," He glanced at Sato as he worked, "Uh…yeah…I guess something like that…" They fell into an awkward silence.
They finished kneading the taffies and began rolling them up. Silver, feeling too awkward, left Sato to re-spark the conversation. Which he did. The more Silver spent time baking with Sato, the more he learned the baker was just a nice chill dude. Like Ojiro but maybe a little more emotional and responsive. It was fairly easy to get along with Sato which allowed their friendship to spark into a stronger bond. Once they finished wrapping the taffy, they loaded the cutely wrapped candies into two large bowls and grinned happily. With a high five, they took in the result of their hard work. Then came the cleaning up part. They worked together to wash up all the dishes and clean up the kitchen, washed their hands and Kirishima announced the visitors were here.
"I got some taffy in my inhibitor rings," Silver groaned, waving to Sato, "You can take your bowl out for now, I gotta get this cleaned out before it gets all gunky." Sato hesitated, watching Silver pull off his inhibitor rings.
"How do you clean them?"
Silver turned and glanced at his baking partner, then demonstrated how he cleaned his limiters. He held the gold cuff in his hand, the cyan glow now a dull dark blue, he pulled the top and bottom apart only enough for him to have room to put a finger between the top and bottom where the cyan ring normally was. Then he twisted the top to the right and pulled it up all the way, showing the two sides split from one another. The cyan ring was completely gone now, with absolutely no trace that it ever existed. Silver grinned a little seeing Sato grow impressed. The psychic turned on the warm water and began washing out the insides of his inhibitor rings with soft bubbles. Once both sides were clean, Silver dried them off thoroughly. Once dry came the simple reassemble. Rewinding the earlier steps, Silver put the top side on the right of the bottom, twisted left, and pushed down. This time though, both sides met and left no room for the cyan ring that was supposed to abide in the middle. They came together and looked like a whole gold bracelet. Seeing Sato's confusion, Silver slid the limiter on like a bracelet and made sure it was set correctly on his wrist. Once it was, the ring popped open like a spring and the cyan crevice began glowing again.
"See?" Silver twisted his wrist to show off that it was completely back to normal, "Easy."
"Whoa, that's awesome." Silver smiled at Sato's awe, then began at the task at hand once more.
Sato picked up a bowl and left the kitchen to greet the guests. Meanwhile, Silver took off his other three cuffs and repeated the process of taking off and apart his cuffs then cleaning them. He quickly realized taking off his boot cuffs was kinda stupid, due to no taffy being stuck in them, but he chose to clean them anyways. He hadn't had them clean since…Powerloader gave them back. They were due for a good scrub. Drying off the final cuff, Silver put it down. He took off his already clean one to put on his gloves, once they were on, he jumped hearing Kirishima re-enter the kitchen.
"Come on man! You gotta come out and meet them!" Silver turned around and Kirishima grabbed Silver's arm, "Let's go!"
Panic bubbled in him, "Ack, no no no! My inhibitor rings!" Silver scrambled to grab them, making Kirishima immediately let go. Silver slipped them on and Kirishima stared confused, "They had taffy in them." Silver sheepishly explained.
"Oh." Red Riot laughed a little, "Come on now!" Silver nodded, he reached and grabbed the bowl of taffy and followed his classmate out of the kitchen.
He found the class all gathered around a small group by the door, Uraraka, Mina, and Hagakure jumping up and down around a small box. Silver smiled seeing their happiness, he turned to see Sato offer some taffy to the group. It took him a moment to realize what was going on. There was a kid scowling and looking away from Deku, who was laughing. A girl with blonde hair happily took some taffy as well as a girl with long green hair already munching on the orange candy they had made. A guy who seemed vaguely familiar stood next to a girl with reddish-black hair as they spoke about something. Yet it all seemed to fall away, and the world froze for a moment. As if some higher being had put a pause on the universe for a moment. Silver's brain went blank and his muscles slacked.
"This is the Wild Wild Pussycats!" Kirishima had said, pulling Silver forward to meet the group, "That's Ragdoll, Maylay, Tiger, and Pixiebob!" Silver's eyes were locked and he grew stiff, "They have a new recruit for now, I uh…didn't catch your name. What was it?"
She turned, looking at Kirishima and Silver with a monotonous expression. Her warm honey eyes, her ears, and tail, her stiff posture. Silver's heart faltered and his stomach did a flip as butterflies formed. His heart dropped at first, his emotions running rampant. How was he supposed to react? His chest tightened at the hand of emotion, his mouth ran as dry as his empty thoughts. Silver's ears pinned against his head as his mind burst to life. Processing the figure before him was such an utter shock, he was genuinely surprised he wasn't dead from the overdrive he was going into. Was this real? He didn't know, and warmth spread through him. It must have been her, right? The ears, the tail, the hair, the clothes, everything was her! Right? Was he overreacting? Was it another Nezu situation? Silver didn't know what to say or do.
Once she spoke, it all became clear. Her voice was the same, and after everything, her stiff and stern 'getting stuff done' voice sounded like a heavenly melody, "My name is-" Everything overwhelmed him instantly, the moment her voice spoke, her words danced off her tongue.
It all boiled over, everything seemed like too much. The world fell away, and sounds and people alike grew distant or simply nonexistent. Nothing else mattered. The shock, pure joy, and seldom pain all just fed into a hot mess of adrenaline. The bowl fell from his hands, crashing to the ground and shattering. Not even that was noticed by him. Silver jumped forward without a second thought, without really any thought, and his vision blurred. His eyes stung, his body on fire, and his heart and stomach refused to help. He felt like he was going to puke, but he didn't care. His hands were outstretched as he leaped for her, praying she wouldn't fade away.
" BLAZE! "
Silver crashed into her, sending them both to the ground. She was human, just like him, but he knew it was her. He had no doubts, not even a doppelganger or Toga could be so spot on. Upon contact, Silver grew even more overjoyed. She was real. Blaze was hissing and lighting herself on fire, but she was real. He didn't care if she killed him at this moment because she didn't recognize him, Silver wasn't going to let go. His arms wrapped around her and he burrowed his head into her shoulder, clinging to her like the burning princess was his last hope for a few breaths underwater. Tears stung his eyes and flooded his face, clutching her tighter and shaking now. The heat didn't bother him, her claws didn't bother him, and her hisses and the others' shouts didn't bother him. The psychic wasn't letting go, he wouldn't let go of her again. Every time they departed, the reunion had always been bittersweet. This time, Silver couldn't contain anything. He had been without any type of familiarity for so long. He had feared he could never see Blaze again.
Yet…perhaps birthday wishes do come true.
"Get off me before I burn you so bad your skeleton will be ashes!" Blaze hissed and kicked Silver, who just kept shaking and crying and clinging to her, "I don't even know you!"
"It's me," Silver simply kept repeating under his breath, "It's me, it's me, it's me." He lifted his head from her shoulder, locking eyes with her, "I thought I'd never see you again, I thought- I missed you so much," The tears were too much, the water in his eyes made the world swirl into a mix of colors and he closed his eyes, "I thought you were gone, I thought I'd never get to say goodbye, I thought I'd never see you again…" Blaze hesitated, her hissing falling short and her eyes widening.
She slowly studied his face, he seemed familiar. Who was he? Those eyes…that voice…that hair…it clicked, "Silver?" Blaze whispered hesitantly, snuffing her flames and watching Silver nod softly and hug her tighter, "Holy Sol…you're…alive…" She hugged him back, her tail wrapping around the two and leaving the room quiet.
Silver gripped onto her coat so tightly he could feel his carpals straining. All he knew in that moment…was that she was real. This isn't another dream, he wouldn't look up and see her fading away. He could hear her heartbeat, he could feel her heartbeat. It was so soothing. All the weight, all the pain, all the fear and nausea he had been hiding…it all just melted away for a moment. The smokey scent of toasted lavender filled his nose as he kept her close. Blaze in return wrapped her arms around his shoulders. A moment of much-needed tranquility filled both of them. Despite the fact, tears still streamed down Silver's face, not that he cared. For a solid 30 seconds, nothing mattered. It was as if it were a normal day, a moment to fool his mind into thinking there were no problems. Just him and Blaze. Hugging after a long separation…that's all it was…his eyes closed as the psychic's breathing and heart calmed. (A/N; When I originally wrote this, I was dying of cringe. Re-reading it, I'm pretty happy to say 'AWWWW'.)
But of course, the moment couldn't last long. A room full of 20 confused students 4 worried adults and a sour child, they were lucky to get 30 seconds of peace. That was before the young and rude child stomped on Silver's leg and grabbed a handful of his ivory hair.
"OW!" Silver screeched, jumped, and scrambled away from Blaze in a futile attempt to ease his scalp as the child continued to yank Silver's hair and pull him backward.
Izuku immediately began freaking out, waving his hands around in an unsure panic, "Oh gosh! Don't pull his hair!" Blaze blinked in visible confusion as Silver continued to yelp being pulled away from her. The child only pulled harder.
The child was surprisingly growly for such a small kid, "Don't touch her, perv. Learn some decency, don't just throw yourself at a 'pretty girl' to get a date." Silver's hedgehog ears perked up. Ohhhh that reunion probably looked weird out of context…especially since no one else could hear their whispers.
Thankfully, as always, Blaze snapped into action. A much more helpful action than Izuku, "Kota! You let him go right NOW, got it?!" The fiery cat-girl slapped the young child's hand away from Silver's hair, "Silver isn't a pervert either, Apologize. Right. Now ." Silver's mind was still reeling to try and process what happened.
Wait, pervert-?! PRETTY GI-
Silver's ears turned a bright red and his eyes widened. Blaze grabbed his hand, pulling him up in one swift movement. And following it up by sliding her arm under his knees and making him fall into her arms. Silver blushed slightly more realizing Blaze was now holding him like a mother would cradle their child. The lilac princess seemed to be even more agile and swift than the last time he had seen her. The trainee looked up at his childhood best friend, finding she was giving her coldest death glare to the little child. The room fell into an awkward silence, everyone taken aback by the suddenness of the movements and chill in Blaze's voice as she demanded Kota to give Silver an apology. The hedgie boy's amber eyes glanced between Blaze and Kota. The princess' grip around him was slightly tensing further, a telltale sign Blaze was serious about the apology and losing her patience waiting for a response. While Kota looked quite scared, probably never having seen Blaze's death glare before. And Midoriya had his hands up in a surrendering motion, gawking in concern and fear.
Silver blinked at the awkward situation before squirming himself out of Blaze's hold, which she didn't seem to mind, "B-Blaze, it's ok. He thought I was hurting you, it was a simple misunderstanding." She glared further at the young child, which caused Silver to frown and gently nudge her shoulder, "Blaze, it's fine, drop it. He is a kid, he meant no harm. I am fine." Silver huffed a bit more seriously, getting Blaze's attention to glance at him before relenting.
She sighed and relaxed, her ears poking into view again, and crossing her arms, "...Fine." Silver smiled seeing her stop glaring at the child, "Do not do that again Kota. You and I both very well know I can handle my own. But I appreciate the heart of the action." Blaze said in her usual calm and monotonous voice, silky as fresh sweet honey.
"So…" Ragdoll peeked out from behind Blaze, making Silver jump in surprise, "This is your missing friend? Kamino Boy?" Blaze kept rather calm, nodding slightly, and Ragdoll 'oh'ed, "We would have found him much faster if you described him better…" Ragdoll noted rather flatly, "He has a rather…iconic look."
Blaze kept stiff, but gently patted Silver's head, "I didn't know why he went missing, so I therefore didn't know if he changed his look to hide from danger." Silver smiled, reading her words as a roundabout way of saying 'I didn't know if he was human or not. And I didn't know what Human Silver looked like.' but he simply nodded.
"Wait, you two know each other?!"
Silver turned, looking at Kaminari who seemed slow to catch on, "...yeah, Blaze has been my best friend since childhood." Izuku's eyes widened as Silver tried to keep calm as he connected the dots. Or seemingly connected the dots.
The whole class fell silent, staring at Blaze with wide admiring eyes. Her long purple tail flicked and Silver stepped closer to her, noticing her unease at the amount of eyes. She shifted in her place, bringing a hand to her chin as she thought. "The term 'best friend' is ill-fitting. We are rather…close partners or close companions." Blaze said calmly, her ear flicking as she thought.
"W-Well," Silver turned as Izuku spoke, stepping forward and bowing, "It's nice to meet another close friend of Silver." Blaze stared at him for a moment before returning the gentle bow, Silver beaming seeing two of his closest friends getting along rather well.
Ashido glanced between Silver and Blaze, growing a large evil smirk as she stepped forward, "Partners? Are you two dating…?" Silver stiffened, his face turning red and eyes widening. A light tint of pink hazed onto Blaze's face and her fists clenched.
Silver rapidly shook his head, sputtering some nonsense and waving his hands around in a panic. Thankfully, as always, Blaze cut in. She stepped forward, slapping a hand over Silver's mouth to shut him up and lightly glaring at Ashido, "There always has to be an Amy everywhere we go, doesn't there?" With a twitch of her tail and a huff of annoyance, Blaze kept her composure and took her hand away from Silver's mouth, "No, we are not dating. Partner doesn't always mean in a romantic sense. In this sense, it simply means a tight-nit bond." Blaze kept her posture stiff, her hands on her hips as she informed Ashido calmly what she meant.
Silver simply nodded with embarrassment. The room went quiet again and Mina rolled her eyes, nodding and backing up slightly. Everything was silent for a bit longer than he hoped, leading Silver to look at the broken bowl and now glass-sharded taffy. Ears dipping and brows furrowing, Silver frowned and rubbed his arm a bit. Maylay cleared her throat, grabbing the attention back to her.
"Well…Blaze, I'm glad we finally found your friend. But we did come here to inform Class 1-A of the news…so, sorry we kinda have to shift the focus back to that." Maylay smiled softly at Blaze, who in turn nodded understandingly. News? Oh yeah…the WWPC came here to originally talk to the class…oops.
"Oh yeah…"
Tiger took this as an opportunity to step forward and announce the news, "We will be getting back to hero work!" With the rightful attention turned back to the WWPC, Silver tilted his head.
The hedgehog didn't know the heroes, but it genuinely surprised him they had been off work at all. The rest of 1-A though burst into a loud mix of excitement, confusion, and congratulations. Momo quickly took over and calmed the class down so they wouldn't overwhelm their guests. Silver tried to listen, but honestly, he didn't care about a random hero agency reopening. The psychic knew that was rude though, so he kept quiet. Blaze's tail flicked slightly as she listened to Maylay, or maybe it was Kirishima, talking. She was so attentive and cared more than Silver did. The Hedgie-boy couldn't be blamed though, he had missed and longed for familiar faces. It felt like a dream seeing Blaze stand next to him while Izuku walked around in his peripheral vision.
Silver just felt so…awestruck.
For once, it felt like the world tipped in his favor. For once, it gave him something he had wished for.
He wished to see Blaze again, that's what he wished for on his birthday. And here she was.
So soon after the birthday too. It surprised him, but in a way that made his eyes soften and lips curve upward. It felt so unreal. And human Blaze was beautiful…Silver honestly liked Mobain Blaze better, but he couldn't deny he was captivated by her somehow new-old face. Her eyes were the same as ever. Stern, solid, and direct. They weren't as big as her Mobain eyes, but they were still big to him. She looked…even more like a Queen now. And her hair was beautiful. How two parts had broken away from the hair band and framed her face nicely. Silver felt his heart melt. He didn't want to talk about school, the laws, or anything serious. He wanted to take her hands and show her around. To hug her endlessly.
Every time she left, a part of his soul followed her. A part of his soul that couldn't let her go. Silver sighed softly, examining her new face and comparing how familiar it looked despite the new form. Her cat ears seemed bigger and fluffier in her human form, or perhaps it was because he hadn't seen her in so long. The lilac fur glistened in the fluorescent lights above. Silver's ears flicked as he studied hers. The conversation seemed like background noise to simply fill the silence. As if it held little meaning. Blaze's eyes shifted from person to person, occasionally adding her input into the conversation. Her voice was such a sweet melody the homesick Hedgieboy had missed.
She nudged him.
Silver blinked into reality, finding the conversation clear and no longer fuzzy. Hearing how everything had fallen silent apart from a few snickers. Without noticing, Silver pulled himself into another hug with Blaze. The interdimensional princess eyed her companion softly. Worry flicked across her features. Silver hadn't noticed he had been hugging her and staring at her with tears in his eyes. Ear drooping and face slowly growing some heat. Silver mumbled some type of apology, internally cursing himself for having done something so stupid. Blaze gently took his hands and looked him in the eye.
"…Let's go to your dorm, ok?"
SilverPsychic; AHHHHHHHH yeeee finally finished! Thanks, Grammerly for working. Ok, so WE HAVE BLAAAAAAAAAZE! I don't know who is into Silvaze, so I'll keep it pretty dialed back. The most for Silvaze, at least that I am currently planning, was in this chapter. Because our hedgehog was homesick.
Silver; But Blaze will stick around, right?!
SilverPsychic; Of course! I just don't plan on making you guys kiss. Yes, I do ship Silvaze. But I don't want to make some of your reading uncomfortable if you don't ship. So I'll keep it subtle fluff.
Izuku; Huh…who knew Psy was a shipper?
Silver; ..Me. A lot of her favorite stories are Silvaze.
SilverPsychic; ….anyways yes, subtle fluff unless you all want more. NEXT TIME! (It's not at all written out) Will our hedgehog finally learn why he has trouble thinking about his home? Where will Blaze go after this? Will she take Silver home? Are others here? Let's find out in the next chapter; Homesick!
(Additionally; Lola Lemon, thank you so much for the support! I literally cant express how happy it makes me to see my fanfic is making you! Please have an amazing day!)
