I did not like what the show did to Lucas Bouchard's character in seasons 10 and 11. So I decided to write a true hero's arc for him. I gave him a backstory that is what I think his past might have been like. I basically followed what the show gave us but changed it to fit my narrative of a hero's arc for our guy Lucas. This is my first attempt at fanfiction.

While the attraction is instantaneous, they know now is not the right time for them; they are both about to graduate and head out on their first assignment, not knowing where that could take them. Elizabeth follows Charles back to Hamilton after he proposes to her in the schoolhouse. Charles and Jack think she has accepted Charles' proposal of marriage. Is this all a misunderstanding? Can Jack and Elizabeth find their way back to each other after her indecisiveness? This story is set in the time frame of the show. However, the storyline differs from it.

A modern day twist to When Calls the Heart/Hope Valley. Elizabeth Thornton is returning home to Hope Valley after three years away. She's newly single and finally past grieving her late husband. This story mainly picks up after S10 of the show but, in this reimagining, Elizabeth left Hope Valley not long after breaking Nathan's heart and choosing Lucas.

Elizabeth is 30 years old and has it all except for a husband and family

This is the story of how Nathan rescued Little Jack and his visit to Fort Clay. He had to move on from Elizabeth and other new characters came into his life. They all avert catastrophe and they are forced to test how they feel now that we venture into season 9 and beyond. It's not going to be easy. I, along with the program's aim, try to arrive at a positive outcome for all of us.
