Naomi made a sharp turn near the front doors and dove back into the kitchen, putting chocolate syrup with milk in a glass with the coffee from the cold cup, crushing some ice and put it in a glass with the sugary concoction. She took a sip and noticed Lola, Copen and Mytyl standing in the doorway. With Copen being the only one to show any anger while Lola and Mytyl were trying their hardest not to snicker.
"So, you think it's funny to toy with people?"Copen snarled.
"Well where else am I supposed to get my kicks from?" Naomi teased.
"You're terrible." Copen sighed as he went back downstairs to the basement.
Lola, Mytyl and Naomi all began laughing as Nori could only roll her eyes.
"You're going to torture him to death, you do realize that?" Nori stated.
"Eh, better him than me." Naomi cackled.
"Speaking of, don't you have to fake your heartbeat now that you're dead?" Lola wondered.
"Oh yeah, it's fine though, my body still works." Naomi assured.
"How do you even do that anyway?" Mytyl queried.
"My Metallon can control the flow of blood. My Psychokinesis can alter the physical state of matter so it helps my body digest food and turn it into different nutrients. As for my Azure Striker, it creates an EMP in place of my heart. So if someone needs to check my heart or pulse for say, a doctor's appointment, then I can easily deceive them by having the EMP be emitted from my heart. But I can't really control where it goes otherwise. Sometimes I feel it in my stomach, knees, even my feet as weird as that sounds." Naomi explained.
"Is it hard to walk when it does that?" Lola asked.
"Not one bit, but it does get a bit aggravating when you get a pokey plant in your foot and the whole of it is throbbing." Naomi complained.
"I didn't know you could use your Septima's to fool people." Mytyl remarked.
"That's the majority of the reason I use them." Naomi answered.
"And for pulling pranks on the Sumeragi." Nori commented.
"Well pardon me for being such a pain. But if I were to be complient with them then all of the Adept population would be in moderate to severe danger. Besides, I've gotta make sure these pranks of mine work somehow." Naomi growled.
"You can be complient? Since when did this happen? I wonder what it looks like." Lola mused.
Naomi rolled her eyes and bit her lip to stop herself from laughing.
"Are you still technically employed by them though? You didn't give a formal resignation, a two weeks notice or anything right?" Lola pondered.
Naomi grew enraged, gaining the same look her brother had when he encountered Gunvolt at Firmament. In short, Naomi had a hatred fueled glare on her face, not that it was aimed at anyone. If it was, the whole of Sumeragi could feel her wrath.
"Now you're both starting to scare me." Lola shuddered.
"Huh? Who else is scaring you?" Naomi questioned.
"Boo." Copen spoke.
Naomi stiffened. She never made any noise when someone frightened her unless it was louder, she could see it, or completely unexpected.
"Not, you." Naomi seethed through gritted teeth once she turned around and looked at Copen.
"You're lucky she's already dead. There's been some cases of people dying from being scared but they're incredibly rare." Nori reminded.
"How's your back?" Copen worried.
"What? You, just now, tried to scare, the heckin' daylights outta me! And now, you ask how my back is? Wait, what is it that you did to me that I don't know about yet!?" Naomi yelled.
"And that's our cue to go." Lola supposed as her and Mytyl removed themselves from the vicinity.
"You've left to go to work and came back practically right after. Either you annoyed somebody or somebody annoyed you. I take it the first answer is most correct." Copen theorized.
"It's the second one actually. My boss got ahold of some sketchy intel and now I can't even trust myself. I know this sounds crazy what I'm about to say. But, if you catch me walking out of bed again, can you stop me?" Naomi begged.
This was the weirdest thing Copen ever heard his sister say.
"You want me to what now?" Copen remarked.
"I need you to make sure I don't leave. Asimov somehow figured out that I'm working for the Sumeragi at night." Naomi explained.
"I'll do what I can." Copen confirmed.
"Thanks, I don't know if I should go back to work again or not." Naomi muttered.
"It would probably be best so you could apologize and inform your boss of your decision." Nori advised.
Naomi nodded and left to tell Asimov what she planned to do. When she got to work, Naomi went right to Asimov.
"I've got an idea, but it's a risky one. I plan on having Copen try to stop me from leaving." Naomi informed.
"That sounds like a good idea. Just make sure he doesn't go too far." Asimov cautioned.
"I won't, can I look through the footage again and see if it matches up with anything in our files?" Naomi queried.
"Take your time." Asimov agreed.
Naomi finished searching at 7:47 PM, causing her to miss dinner. Naomi went to check with Moniqa to see if the time was right.
"Moniqa, is the time on that clock right?" Naomi panicked as she pointed to the white clock with black numbers and hands.
"Definitely, at this rate I'll get home at 8:02." Moniqa guaranteed.
"And I'm way too late to get home and eat dinner." Naomi pouted.
"Can you eat a snack and wait thirty five, maybe forty five minutes if I get you a pretzel?" Moniqa inqueried.
