Naomi tilted her head to the side in confusion.
"Yeah, why so specific? What's going on?" Naomi pondered.
"You can come eat with me." Moniqa offered.
Naomi's face lit up brighter than a firework filled sky.
"If you don't mind, I promise to pay you back." Naomi assured.
"I don't want you to pay me back. Just promise you'll enjoy yourself." Moniqa answered.
"I'll be on my best behavior." Naomi beamed as she gave a mock salute.
Moniqa giggled at Naomi's antics, being slightly reminded of Zeno's goofiness.
"So, what exactly is going on when you work for the Sumeragi at night? Anything in particular?" Moniqa pondered.
Naomi shook her head.
"I don't know what's going on, other than what I saw on the film. I tried looking through the records and everything at work. But nothing helped, not even my file had any information." Naomi complained.
"Don't you have one at home you can look at?" Moniqa reminded.
"That's the thing. I nearly got caught trying to open the filing cabinet. I accidentally used my Psychokinesis and turned the key into air. Now I can't open it, wait, I've got an idea! I can use my Wormhole Septima, put my hand inside the wormhole and grab the file inside the cabinet without a key! Uh, do you think I should do it now or later though?" Naomi droned.
"Let's get you a snack first, there's a pretzel stand near here." Moniqa recommended.
Sure enough, after walking 10 more feet, there was a pretzel stand. Moniqa got Naomi some cinnamon sugar dusted pretzel bites and a glass of blackberry lemonade. Naomi made sure Moniqa ate one as her way of saying thanks.
"You do realize you're my favorite QUILL member right? I don't like sharing my snacks with anyone I don't like." Naomi remarked.
"R-really?" Moniqa squeaked.
"The boss likes you way way waaay more than I do though. And in a completely different way. I'm so glad he's not here to hear this, I'm such a rebel." Naomi added, snickering at the last sentence.
Moniqa laughed as well, grateful it wasn't as awkward as the time she came across Joule at the local shrine.
"I still can't believe Zeno, of all people, went to get a marriage tie charm, of all things. As if he could get married to a 2D girl. And what's crazier is the Glaives. What happens when the blood sample dies inside the Glaive? How does it still work?" Naomi snickered.
Moniqa stopped walking and Naomi turned to the side.
"Uh, Moniqa, you good back there? I know you're only eight inches behind me but still..." Naomi mumbled.
"N-no, it's alright, I'm just curious." Moniqa assured as she continued walking alongside her younger coworker.
"About the Glaives? Me too. I recently heard only Sumeragi Adepts that have a Glaive get a high rank and cushy life. That probably explains why I don't have a rank.
Though I have the most Septimas out of anyone else there. The Glaives are supposed to be based on these things called Binding Brands. I heard there's four of them all within Japan. You have to put in a request to use a Glaive.
And if you don't get a green light but still use it, that gets you suspended. And if you use it without permission, you get a big sit down and a suspension. Talk about a major buzzkill. Not to mention the fact that even if you get a green light to use your Glaive, you've gotta write a report about it.
When you used it, how you used it, why you used it, where you used it. And even who used it! Though they know very darn good and well who did! The thing is though, Glaives were supposed to be Sumeragi's chokehold on Adepts.
But there's some Adepts within the company, that even with Glaives, they can still use their Septimas. Nova's the only one I know. Man, just mentioning his name is making me nauseous." Naomi explained as she was cut off by the stomach acid entering her throat.
She sighed, ate another cinnamon pretzel bite and continued talking. Moniqa knew the tension between those two was beyond bitter. From what she heard, it was worse than Copen's hatred towards Gunvolt. Which made the human woman question if disdain ran in Naomi's family.
"I'm still confused, I can transform and I don't even have a Glaive. I could transform even before that. Maybe it has something to do with the chip implanted into my collarbone." Naomi rambled.
"We're still looking into the Grimoires the Eden seven use to transform. They're supposedly based on Glaives but use a different source to transform." Moniqa notified.
"They used the Muse Septima. It enhances the Septimal capabilites of Adepts. It took forever to steal back. Now Lola's got all of it." Naomi elucidated.
"Finally, home sweet home." Moniqa smiled as she opened the door to a dark green painted house with a dark oak single step. The door was dark oak as well and had faux gold hinges and a knob. The roof was made of what seemed like gray stone that was sanded down.
"This literally looks like a Minecraft house and I'm all here for it. It looks really comfy. Dark colors are my favorite." Naomi commented.
At first Moniqa was confused but then she remembered seeing Zeno play a weird game the other day. It was nothing but blocks all around. It looked like he was in a forest fighting zombies with a wooden children's sword. He was fighting someone and saying "If I had a netherite sword you would be finished off quicker than an Enderman in water."
