Over the next few weeks, many things changed. Col. Davis was promoted to Commander Davis and placed in command of Altera, allowing Commander Landry to focus more on the soldiers and teams. Col. Sheppard was promoted to Commander Sheppard and given command of Pacifica. All weapons research was moved to Pacifica and placed under his command. Dr. Beckett remained the Chief Medical Officer, with Dr. Keller, and Dr. Lam Assistant Chief Medical Officers. Much to everyone's surprise, Dr. McKay was pleased with his sister Dr. Miller being named Chief Science Officer. Once she realized the amount of paperwork that was involved she understood why her brother was pleased.

Teal'c and Ronon were given the ranks of Training Commanders and continued training new recruits. Larin was promoted to Flight Training Commander.

O'Neill and Armstrong were visiting the Destiny and crew to see how things were progressing. Along with bringing them new supplies.

"So I'm no longer in the Air Force?" asked Mitchell.

"No your in the Alliance Guard now with the rank of Ship Commander," replied O'Neill.

"Payraise?" asked Mitchell.

"Slight," replied O'Neill.

"Any word on the Hades?" asked Mitchell.

"None, but we haven't given up hope. Carter didn't find any debris that would indicate an attack or crash," replied O'Neill

"That is at least good news," replied Mitchell.

"How is the crew handling things here?" asked Armstrong.

"Dr. Zalenka and Captain Hailey are having a grand time, studying how the Asgard Core and Destiny AI are merging. I'd tell you more but I don't understand anything they tell me about it. Narim is still in awe and playing catch up on all of the technologies. Tomin has the security details trained on every inch of this ship. Thrud, Carson, and Oma are spending all of their time studying this signal. Which they have nothing still at this point," spoke Mitchell.

"How is Vala?" asked O'Neill.

"She is finally coming out of her quarters on most days. Any idea what she saw in that building that affected her so much?" asked Mitchell.

"Nothing, Thor made sure it was destroyed entirely. I think he sent Asgard through to destroy it even further," replied O'Neill.

Just then Daniel Jackson walked into the conference room, "Jack it's good to see you!"

"Good to see you, Major Jackson," replied O'Neill.

"Huh? Major?" asked Jackson.

"You're a Major in the Alliance Guard now. It's your official rank. You would have been Colonel, but since you didn't want to be in charge of the antiquities, you got major," replied O'Neill.

"Yeah sure," replied Jackson.

"First thing, is how is Vala?" asked O'Neill.

"She is doing better than at first. She won't talk to me about it but stays close around to where I am at. I think she will get past this, but it's going to take more time. Did this affect Thor in any way?" asked Jackson.

"I have noticed a change in Thor, but not like Vala. I wish I could give you more, but there isn't," replied O'Neill.

"I know it has something to do with these blue water aliens. They are out here, so I don't understand why she wants to be here, instead of back in Altera," replied Jackson.

"That is something we may never understand," replied Armstrong.

"The obelisk, have you made any progress?" asked O'Neill.

"No, I have no reference to this language. It is different from anything on Earth, it does not match anything the Asgard has encountered. It is not similar to the Furling language we have discovered. What I can tell you, an extremely powerful race of people came through here. They built a planet and star with multi-cellular plant life in less than one hundred years," replied Jackson.

"Could it be these blue water aliens?" asked Armstrong.

"I do not know," replied Jackson.

"Keep up what you're doing. How much longer till you reach your next destination?" asked O'Neill.

"We are just under four months from the next galaxy. We have limited information on that galaxy, and no clue on why we are going there," replied Mitchell.

"Keep us informed if you figure anything out. We are all hoping you may find a solution to our little problem," replied O'Neill.

"So they haven't attacked?" asked Mitchell.

"No, they are prepared but are refraining from attacking. We think our little battle on Alcatraz gave them some second thoughts," replied O'Neill.

"Another word they didn't think we could hit back," replied Mitchell.

"Exactly," replied O'Neill.

Later that day O'Neill and Armstrong returned to Altera. Hammond had taken command of the Nemesis as Carter was placed on restricted duty. Dr. Lam and Dr. Keller both insisted. Carter was working in her lab, something she had not done in a long time. O'Neill surprised and took her for dinner.

Landry was meeting with the new Colonels from the ground forces. Each Colonel would be in charge of a brigade. These brigades would be specialized into specific tasks. Everything from engineering, medical, search and rescue, and combat. Engineering had changed drastically, gone were the days of needing heavy equipment. Portable Asgard cores were used to convert raw materials into finished designs. Medical teams would be learning traditional first aid techniques, as the medical bays were not available on the combat field.

Harriman had made changes in the protocols for the gateroom. Adjusting when they would be activated. Training new teams, on the protocols, and new equipment. Even a small time dilation field was installed, that could be activated in the room to buy time if needed. Harriman had his chance to gate off-world, visiting Remoc. Bra'tac was excited to show him around. Remoc would be the first site they would be upgrading the Stargate to be placed in a new gateroom, that was being designed by Harriman.

Sheppard was overseeing the new pier being installed on Pacifica, that had been destroyed during the Mimic attack. He was keeping a number of scientists busy with his ideas for weapons. He had dedicated one entire level of Pacifica for Larrin to have to train pilots. He really needed to remember to thank O'Neill for moving the pilot training to Pacifica.

Dr. McKay was working on a modification to new engine design. He was hoping to increase the energy to thrust conversion to 99.999% which would give the puddle jumper and F-71's a significant speed boost. When Carter walked in.

"Samantha, how can I help you?" asked McKay.

"I had an idea I wanted to bounce off of you," replied Carter.

"Let's hear your new idea?" smirked McKay.

"Upgrading the Milky Way stargates to the Pegasus Galaxy design," replied Carter.

"That would take forever and use materials we do not nearly have enough to do it," replied McKay.

"What if we used your nanites to convert existing stargates to the new design?" asked Carter.

"Hmm, now that is an idea," replied McKay, "but that stargate would be down until the conversion was complete."

"We can trigger a signal through the stargate so we know which stargate is down, and again when it's back up. Then the nannites could activate the gate and move on to another world," replied Carter.

"You're assuming we have enough materials in a stargate to convert to the new design," replied McKay.

"Well I ran a simulation, we have a margin of error of 5%," replied Carter.

"Hmm that could work, let's see what all we would need," replied McKay.

The two spent the next six hours working on the programming needed and had a test ready to go.

O'Neill had a meeting with Thor later that day.

"Thor buddy you said I should visit Othalla. How about I take you up on that invitation?" asked O'Neill.

"I would like that very much, O'Neill. When would you like to visit?" asked Thor.

"How about next week?" replied O'Neill.

"I will give you the tour myself," replied Thor.

The following week Colson with his new title Commander of Technology Disbursement met with the Atlantis Council.

"We are nearing the completion of the transport system upgrades around Earth. Also we have transitioned a number of Aerospace companies into construction for building F-71's, these are being built for Atmospheric combat, while the Alliance will continue to construct ones for space combat. In addition, several companies are moving toward space tourism. They are working toward vessels for touring the Solar system," explained Colson.

"Given our situation with the Old Ones do we really want civilians spread out around the solar system?" asked Woosley.

"Flights will be limited no large portion of the population will be out at one time," replied Colson, "We have a large number interests in taking facilities off of Earth. A number of restaurant chains have contacted me about opening restaurants on Remoc, Othalla, and Corlan."

"No, not going to happen!" replied O'Neill.

"We are working with a number of technology companies who will be creating the next generation of computers based on our technology. The technology sectors around the world are struggling to keep up" spoke Colson.

Teyla asked, "How about bringing this technology to the off-world locations?"

"That is where we are starting to look now. The Nox and Asgard have integrated most if not all of our new technologies. The Tok'ra and Jaffa are slowly increasing their level. That leaves the people of Corlan, and the Ori Galaxy who are behind. We are establishing a training center we hope they will take advantage to learn these technologies," explained Colson.

"Next item is the new stations," replied Landry.

"The new station Celestis had been completed. Once a crew is established we will be ready to place it in orbit around the planet Celestis," replied Thor, "Lantea for the Pegasus galaxy will be complete in a week, and we have already placed Orilla in the Othalla galaxy. Commander Fin has taken command of the station."

"Now that is excellent news," replied Caldwell.

"Each station will hold a complement of ten thousand, with three DN-1103's stationed at each. Thor how goes the progress on the DN-1105's?" asked O'Neill.

Thor responded, "The DN-1105 is nearly completed in the design phase. It will have a new hull layout, allowing for one hundred additional weapon platforms, an additional 200 crew members, while remaining operable with a minimum crew of fifty. The Wormhole drive will be capable of a two billion light year jump, sub-light engines remain the same 99.99% the speed of light."

"Now that is going to pack a punch. How soon till we are able to produce one?" asked Caldwell.

"I expect one month. If the need arises we can accelerate that to 1 day," replied Thor.

"Currently if the Old Ones do attack, they will be in for a surprise. With our enhancements thanks to Primus we will see them coming," replied O'Neill.

"One question we are building so much how are resources holding out?" asked McKay.

"From Othalla we are carrying out a number of mining operations. Using the mining drones we are collecting significant quantities of Trinium, Neutronium, Naqaudria, and Naquadah. Our current stockpile would allow accelerated construction of up to ten DN-1105's. However we trying to maintain a healthy supply available to cover any needs required," replied Thor.

Later that night Caldwell was reviewing his asset resource report:

Caldwell was shaking his head, O'Neill was finally getting what he wanted, the Enterprise. He had managed to keep himself distracted the past few weeks to think less on Jenny, but she never left his mind. He missed her, and prayed every night she was safe someplace working to get back to him. Life had changed drastically for him over the years, little did he ever think he would be in command of a fleet of ships over five galaxies.

Lya had choosen to remain in Altera that night, something she had done very rarely. Normally choosing to return to her home planet after council sessions. For some reason tonight she felt she was needed here. She stood on her balcony looking at the stars. How these stars look vastly different knowing what waited out there. While the Nox were aware of ascension is was something they never aspired too. Preferring to become one with nature, now those beings she held in high regard were a threat. She knew war would have to come, her heart longed for peace. She could sense the fear and doubt in Commander O'Neill, however, he would never let it show. He was the only reason the Nox supported this alliance at war. Knowing the leader would choose a peaceful solution if one was available.

Lya wasn't the only council member looking at the stars that night. Bra'tac had chosen to stay in Altera for the night as well. His people finally had found a home, and much of the distrust with the Tau'ri had been removed. His people were advancing in ways they had never done before. Science, mathematics and medicine were being learned, this knowledge was being freely shared. No longer the slaves to evil masters the Jaffa found they had control of their destiny.

It was a little after 2 AM when Harriman showed up for a surprise inspection of the gateroom. Something he had become known for doing since being placed in charge of the gateroom. Everything was checking out, just how he liked it. When an emergency communication came in from the Nox homeworld, it read:

Under Attack. Help.

Harriman had installed an emegency alert button, that would signal O'Neill, Landry and Caldwell in cases like this, he didn't waste a second pressing it.

O'Neill was woken by Avidan standing at his bed, speaking "Commander O'Neill an emergency has been declared, your presence is required immediately in the gateroom. Please state when ready to be beamed directly there."

O'Neill quickly pulling on his fatigues, "Now!"

O'Neill found himself being joined by Caldwell and Landry within seconds.

"Commanders, we have received an emergency communication from the Nox homeworld. They are under attack and requested immediate help," spoke Harriman.

"Who would attack the Nox?" asked Landry.

"Signal the crews of all the ships to standby," ordered Caldwell.

"Already done, sir!" replied Harriman, "Commander O'Neill, Lya of the Nox, did not return home, she stayed here last night."

"Thank you, get her here now," ordered O'Neill.

"I am already here," replied Lya as she walked in.

"I'll join Hammond on the Nemesis," spoke O'Neill.

"We will take the Nemesis, Athena, and Poseidon," ordered Caldwell, he beamed off immediately.

"I will join you Commander O'Neill," spoke Lya.

"Commander Landry, prepare the Puddle Jumpers with troops to come through on our signal. Chief contact Thor on Othalla, I want him there with the Vainir," ordered O'Neill, who beamed away with Lya.

"Wake up the city Chief. I want everyone awake and at primary duty. I need to see the Second and Third Brigade commanders immediately," ordered Landry.

The Nemesis, Athena, and Poseidon coordinated there jumps so they would arrive together at the Nox homeworld.

Hammond spoke across the communication channel, "We have approximately fifty Old ones attacking the planet."

All three ships were bringing up their inter-dimensional targeting sensors developed from Primus. They could see instantly the fifty were scattered around the planet and sending energy blast after energy blast at the planet.

"Fire at will!" came the command from Caldwell.

The sky over the Nox world was brightly lit as plasma fire began to rain down on the Old ones. Quickly several turned their attention to the arriving ships. Their energy blasts now directed at the ships.

"Hold on folks, we are about to find out how good these shields are!" shouted O'Neill.

The Nemesis shook violently, having never taken blast at that level before.

Chuck reported, "Primary Shield down to 19%, secondary shield holding!"

Hammond ordered "Evasive maneuvers!"

Multiple blasts came toward the Nemesis next.

Sparks flew across the bridge as the Nemesis shook violently again.

Chuck shouted, "Primary and Secondary shields are down. The final shield is at 42%. We can not take another hit like that!"

Nemesis was able to destroy two of the Old Ones targeting them before the next volley of plasma fire. Another volley of two energy blasts was incoming for the Nemesis when suddenly a wormhole opened up and the Vanir swooped in front of the blast taking the hit. O'Neill and Lya could see wormholes opening up all around the planet. As more than two hundred DN-1103a's were arriving.

"All ships target the old ones and fire at will," ordered Thor across the communication channels.

Quickly the battle turned Old ones were being targeted and wiped out, a few tried to flee, but to no avail. Until a few determined they could flee to the planet.

"We can not target them on the planet surface. They are using the survivors as shields," spoke Hammond.

Caldwell over the communication, "Commander O'Neill, may I recommend ground forces?"

O'Neill replied, "All ready calling Landry now."

"Commander Landry we need ground forces now for a search and destroy around the planet. Plus we need medics to tend the wounded on the planet," ordered O'Neill.

"Ships are on their way to clear out the gate area, and then troop carriers will be dropping off teams," replied Landry.

"Put the gate on the screen!" ordered O'Neill.

They could see the ships pouring through the stargate from Altera. Within moments dozens were already through. Then came the puddle jumpers. Scanners were directing them to specific areas where they remaining Old Ones had taken to hiding.

"Thor buddy, that was excellent timing on your part! I think you have some explaining to do, on these ships," replied O'Neill.

"Yes, O'Neill it is fortunate I arrived when I did. This is a portion of the Asgard Fleet. We came as fast as we could. I sent additional contingents to Remoc, Corlan, Earth, and Tok'ra homeworld for protection," replied Thor.

"Yeah you have been busy," replied Caldwell.

"My people have been decimated. We once had over two hundred cities, now only one remain," spoke Lya for the first time.

"I'm sorry Lya. Our people are down there giving Aid as fast as they can to all who survived," spoke O'Neill.

"The Nox have never gone to war, we will now," replied Lya.

Everyone who heard her statement had the same thought, a sleeping giant had been woken.

Over the next few hours, the remaining Old Ones in hiding were hunted down and destroyed. Portable shield generators saved a number of lives of troops. In the end, over a thousand troops had perished in the pursuit. They had not gone down easily and portable shield generators could only do so much.

All other sites were reporting back that things were peaceful. According to Lya, their population was little over two million. One city of ten thousand remained. The casualty count was growing every possible minute. Survivors were being taken aboard the DN-1103's as fast they could be found. Placed in suspended animation to deal with their burns. Over the next few days, the final search and rescue was concluded and turned to recovery. Twenty-two thousand three hundred seventy-two Nox survived the attack. Another one thousand one hundred seven troops gave their lives to defeat the attackers. This was a sobering moment for the Alliance at what they were up against.

An emergency council session was called.

"We need a way to protect our worlds, like the Tau'ri, have done," spoke Bra'tac.

"Master Bra'tac, by end of the day, will have a planetary shield system built and ready to install for the Nox, Remoc, Corlan, Celestis and the Tok'ra homeworld of Kesmet," spoke Thor.

"We have never heard any chatter from the Old Ones on any pending attack on the Nox, or any others of this alliance. We now know they will target the others," replied Hammond.

"We should have been better prepared," replied O'Neill.
