A/N: Rosalee and Juliette take Lorelei out for the day.
"This is so cute." Juliette said, holding out a dress to Lorelei.
"Oooh, nice. I like the feel of it."
Saturday saw Lorelei hitting Nordstrom's with Juliette and Rosalee. They figured they could look at clothes, maternity and other, and baby stuff in one go. So far, they had found a few things for Lorelei including shorts and other pants, some tops and dresses, including a more formal one. Lorelei wasn't interested in getting a whole lot right now. Maybe when the weather started to cool down, she might get some more stuff for the fall.
"Hey, check this out." Rosalee said, holding something up. "It's a belly band, seems like it will be useful later in the pregnancy. It offers ergonomic support."
Lorelei checked it out. "I might wait until later on to get one, when I have an idea of how big I'll be." She told Rosalee who nodded.
After grabbing a body pillow in addition to the clothes, they headed over to the baby section. "Wow, there is so much stuff." Juliette commented.
"I know. I think I might just focus on some clothes and some smaller stuff for now." Lorelei told them, as they gushed over the baby clothes.
Rosalee held up a little dress. "Look how tiny it is. So cute." She cooed.
As they continued looking through the baby stuff, Lorelei became aware of a woman watching them. A couple of times she glanced the woman's way, only for her to look away quickly. Eventually, the woman seemed to have found the confidence to say something. "You should be ashamed of yourself, having a baby so young." The woman said to Lorelei. "Do you even know who the father is? You young girls are so promiscuous nowadays."
Lorelei was quite surprised that this older woman seemed so bothered by a stranger's pregnancy. "I…I…" She stuttered; her arms wrapped almost protectively around her belly. She felt tears well up, and she bit her lip to keep from crying.
"Hey, back off lady." Rosalee said, looking at the woman in anger. For a moment, Lorelei saw her woge.
"Yeah, where do you get off making assumptions like that?" Juliette added, looking as pissed off as Rosalee.
The woman sputtered for a moment, clearly not expecting someone to call her out like that. She gave Lorelei one last judgemental look before stalking off. Rosalee and Juliette turned to Lorelei. "Hey, don't cry. That bitch has no idea what she's talking about." Rosalee said, gathering Lorelei into her arms.
"Yeah, she needs to send that attitude back to the fifties, where it belongs." Juliette said, joining in on the hug.
"Damn hormones, I usually have a thicker skin than this." Lorelei said, laughing slightly, wiping away the tears that had fallen.
The other two women laughed as well. "Come on. I think you've been on your feet long enough Mama. Let's go have lunch." Rosalee suggested, brushing a strand of hair out of Lorelei's face.
"But we haven't even looked at stuff for you guys." Lorelei told them.
"Eh, let's be honest. We are here for you." Juliette said. "And let's go. I am starving. Putting bitches in their place is hunger inducing."
The woman had lunch at a nearby restaurant. After they had ordered Juliette asked Lorelei how things had been going with Sean and what living with him was like.
"Things are going really well. He is so supportive. And excited about the baby." Lorelei told them, as the waitress stopped by the deliver their drinks. "I've found him reading my pregnancy books on more than one occasion. I do miss him though."
"You haven't heard from him?"
Lorelei shook her head. "No, but I expected that."
"And he didn't tell you where he was going or what he was doing?"
"No. But at least he was somewhat honest with me."
Their food soon arrived, and the topic shifted to Lorelei's pregnancy and baby names. "I'll have to discuss it with Sean, but I really like Marielle as a middle name. My top four choices for the first name are Olivia, Charlotte, Liliana, and Davina."
"They are all beautiful names." Rosalee commented, after swallowing a mouthful of food. She exchanged a look with Juliette. "There is something we need to start planning, and that is your baby shower."
Lorelei looked at them in surprise. "Oh. I hadn't even thought about that. You guys don't have to do that."
"It is tradition for a pregnant woman's friends to plan and host the baby shower." Juliette told her. "We just need a list of people to invite. You can leave the rest up to us."
"And we should probably decide on a date." Rosalee said. "I was thinking maybe in mid-September."
Lorelei was touched her friends wanted to do this for her. And she had a feeling there was no point in arguing with them about. However, Lorelei was also mindful that her pregnancy was currently considered high risk. She had no idea what was going to happen. Perhaps the baby shower should happen a little sooner. "Maybe a little bit sooner." Lorelei admitted, her hand coming to rest on her belly. "Just in case I have any complications, or I have to go on bed rest, or the baby comes sooner than expected."
Rosalee looked at her in concern. "You're still having issues with your blood pressure?"
Lorelei nodded. "Yeah, it still hasn't gone down. Even with the aspirin. I mean, maybe it will now that I don't have to worry about school, but…I don't know. I try not to think about it too much, but I am worried. Hearing about the potential complications from hypertension does have me a little scared." She sighed. "I have an appointment next Friday. I think if my blood pressure still hasn't changed, I might need to consider starting maternity leave from work, early."
Juliette rubbed her back soothingly. "Starting maternity leave early might be a good idea. And if there is anything more, we can do for you, let us know."
Rosalee smiled warmly at her. "Whatever you need. We're here for you."
Lorelei felt tears well up, feeling emotional at the love she felt for her friends. "Thanks guys."
Juliette handed her a napkin. "More tears."
Lorelei laughed. "These ones are happy, I promise."
A/N: Just a short little chapter. I wanted one with some bonding between the three main ladies.
