This is kind of an updated version of a one shot I posted and took down. What can I say, trying to get back into things. As before, I wish i could find the author who introduced me to the pairing, but I cannot, so shout out to you mysterious writer! This takes place towards the end of Forever Red, and mentions The Letter. I own nothing but the plot and Enjoy!
"It is my business." Leo said, pacing back and forth as he talked on his phone. There was a pause.
"Becaue I'm the leader of the team, that's why!" He said, getting louder, oblivious to the others in the room watching him get riled up.
"Kendrix! Do not hang up on me! Kendrix!" Leo growled as he took the phone away from his ear to glare at it. He looked to the audience watching his show.
"Problems at home?" Jason asked, chin propped up on his hand, watching with a smirk. Leo sighed gravely.
"Kendrix has a boyfriend." He said. There was a pause.
"So?" TJ said. Leo started waving his arms around.
"So?! So, I don't know anything about this guy. Kai and Damon won't say anything. Hell, even Maya knows who he is, and she isn't saying anything, so it's big." Leo said.
"Why do you have to know?" Tommy asked. "Because I need to put this guy through the wringer. When Andros found out I was dating Karone, he put me through Hell. But I made it to the other side, and now, I can fool around with his sister whenever I want." Andros turned to level a glare at Leo.
"Excuse me?" Leo realized what he said.
"I mean, treat his sister like a lovely lady because I'm a perfect gentleman." Leo said. Andros nodded and slowly turned back. Leo shook his head to get back on track.
"I'm going to find out who this guy is. I have to make a few calls." Leo left the room and when the door closed, Wes looked at everyone.
"Alright. Bets. Who is he?" Wes said.
"Has to be someone on Earth. If he was with the colony, Leo would've found out." Eric had taken out a notepad and pen and began jotting down notes.
"If the whole teams knows who he is, he has to be a Ranger. A civilian would be outside the inner circle. Made things easier when we had to disappear." Jason said. The whole table looked at each other.
"Maybe we are overthinking this. It could be Kai or Damon." TJ said. Andros shook his head.
"Damon would be bragging to everyone with ears. And Kai would be very, very smug about it." Eric looked up from his list.
"So the Galactic team is out. Anybody on your teams been secretive? Going out of town alot?" Eric asked. They all looked at him, and he rolled his eyes.
"It's not me. And Wes has an extreme long distance thing going on." Wes coughed on his water, glaring at Eric. Andros looked at TJ.
"You and Cassie still going strong?"
"Yep. And Carlos hasn't been cagey or anything, so it's probably not him. I assume you and Ashley are still an item." Andros nodded. They turned to Tommy.
"Don't look at me, I'm still in a relationship. Jason? Wouldn't be the first time you were in a secret relationship." There was a bit of an edge to his voice. Jason sighed.
"Bro, please. Just kick my ass and get over it. I'm tired of the passive aggressive Christmas Cards. Kim thinks they are funny, but I hate them." Tommy put his feet up on the table and his hands behind his head.
"Nah, I'm still waiting for the right moment." Everyone looked at Jason.
"Come on, even you admitted you upgraded from Valley Girl to The Australian Amazon." They looked at Tommy.
"You could've told me. And not have Kim send a very vague letter. Which, I'm still convinced you helped write." The room looked at Jason, but Eric tapped the notepad.
"Before you two come to blows, we still need to figure out who Kendrix is seeing. And I've come to the conclusion, he is in this room." They all looked at Cole, the newest member, who was quick to throw up his hands.
"Don't look at me, I don't even know who she is." There was silence, before Tommy turned to Carter.
"Mr. Grayson, you have been very quiet. Anything you want to share with the class?" Carter was tight lipped, tapping his thumbs together, avoiding eye contact.
"I may know who it is." He said. TJ looked at him and it clicked.
"Dude! You are sitting in front of Leo and you aren't telling him!" Carter was quick to the defense.
"I know! But, Kendrix made me promise not to tell anyone. In fact, when she found out I was going to be working with him on this mission, she said she would tell him when he got back." He said.
"Why Kendrix?" Cole asked, head tilted to one side. Carter smiled softly while looking down at the table.
"She is pretty, and smart, and I love it when she perches her glasses on the end of her nose when she is studying something."
"So what does she see in you?" Eric asked bluntly.
"She thinks I'm cute, and funny. And she likes the whole big and strong firefighter image." Carter said with a shrug. Everyone laughed.
"Seriously though, Leo is going to kill you." TJ said.
"Who am I going to kill?" Leo said, coming back into the room. There was a brief silence.
"Carter is dating Kendrix!" TJ said, pointing at Carter, whose jaw was on the table.
"Dude!" He said, before having to leap out of his chair as Leo came over the table.
"She made me promise!" Carter yelled as he ran out of the room, Leo in hot pursuit. Andros winced as there was a crash heard.
"Come on guys. This is an expensive ship."
