Sarah- 13

It was October, summer was over, and fall was in full effect, with cooler air. October was also the month of the most popular holiday, Halloween, which was one of Sarah's favorite days of the year.

When she was younger she had Dean dress up with her and he'd take her out, now since traveling if he had a show he'd buy a bunch of candy for them to share and binge some classic Halloween-themed movies. If he didn't have a show he would take her out in whatever town they were in.

Now that Sarah was getting older she wanted to explore more, as the spooky holiday approached a lot of horror and thriller movies were being aired everywhere on TV. The last time she watched a horror movie, she didn't sleep for nearly a month but she also became her brothers' shadow for the same amount of time and forbade her from watching them.

This year Dean and Seth had off and they went home to Vegas, they found a bigger apartment for them. It was a 3-bedroom apartment until they found a house. As much as Sarah loved being on the road and traveling, it was nice to be home. It gave her some stability in her life.

Late one night after her brothers had gone to bed she snuck out to the living room quietly turned the TV on and kept the volume down. She found a channel airing an all-horror movie marathon. The young teen considered it but didn't wanna chance it and get busted by her brothers. She saw it was after 2 in the morning and this could be her chance.

The teen figured it couldn't hurt to watch some of the movie while her brothers slept as long as she kept it down she didn't think anything of it. Changing it to the channel, the movie was an old movie called Poltergeist. In the middle of the movie, Sarah grabbed a snack from the kitchen and sat in front of the TV watching the movie.

As the movie went on, she hid behind the couch and occasionally peeked her head out, her food forgotten. When the clown doll in the movie attacked, she dropped back to the floor. She soon heard something that sounded close, so she pulled herself back to the corner as far as she could, curling into a ball.

The creaks in the apartment sounded as if they were getting closer. Her heart raced in her chest, Sarah wouldn't admit out loud that her brothers were right and some movies were too intense for her age. The young teen had figured that it was the people in the upstairs apartment moving around. What caught her attention was the sound going out on the TV and the TV shutting off by itself. Sarah pulled herself up and saw the once-lit television set was completely off.

Her eyes had gone wide seeing even the cable box off, the soft glow that showed the time was off. She ran to turn the light switch on and it remained dark, she kept messing with the switch as if she were trying to get the lights to turn on but they wouldn't.

"Come on, come on. Work. Please work, work" She whispered urgently.

With her brothers asleep, Sarah was left alone to face her fears. She knew her brothers hardly got scared of anything, she didn't know if they even had any fears other than anything happening to her. Suddenly the tv had turned back on and a different movie had been playing. This one was another old classic, A Nightmare on Elm Street.

One scene of the movie had started playing the creepy rhyme.

"1, 2, Freddy's coming for you.

3, 4, better lock you're door

5, 6, grab your crucifix

7, 8, better stay up late

9, 10…. Never sleep again"

Her eyes were wide as the movie skipped as she spoke softly. "Dean.. Seth" She knew her brothers wouldn't be able to hear her soft pleas for help but hoped they'd wake up.

As a scene in the movie played, her eyes grew wider. In the movie, a boy, Glen is fast asleep in his bed with headphones on his head and a tv on his lap, and suddenly two hands, one a razored hand started sucking him completely into his bed and blood started flying out covering the ceiling a bright crimson red color.

Then suddenly Sarah heard what sounded like scratching noises, she hadn't been able to take it and ran to her brother's room, she ended up in Seth's room jumping and pouncing on his bed. She thought she had woken him up but the bed was empty which scared her more. Where had her brother gone? Why wasn't he in his room? Just as she was about to move back to the door she saw a large dark figure at the door and she let out a high-pitched scream.

The figure had also screamed, the figure was none other than Seth, he turned on his light he saw his sister in his bed trembling from fright. Dean came running in from his room, his hair was messy and he was tripping over his feet.

"What's going on?" Dean asked.

"I thought you were the demon or Freddy Kruger from the movies!" Sarah exclaimed.

"Sarah, what are you talking about? What movies?" Seth asked going to sit next to her.

Sarah moved next to Seth as Dean got closer as well. She took her brother's arm and held it. "I know you guys forbade me from watching horror movies. I watched one tonight, half of it at least"

"What did you watch?" Dean asked.

"Poltergeist"

"Sarah that is way too intense for a kid your age, what were you thinking?" Seth asked her.

"It didn't seem scary until that evil clown doll came to life and the skeletons came to life. Then suddenly the power went and when it came back on a different movie was on it had this creepy rhyme, 1, 2, Freddy's coming for you 3, 4, better lock you're door" She explained.

"That would be Nightmare on Elm Street" Seth rubbed his eyes, then smoothed his hair back.

"Does that mean the person from the movie, Freddy is going to come and get me?" Sarah's eyes widened in fear clinging to her brother looking between them.

"Sweetheart, those movies aren't real. Nothing about them is real, they're all fake. It's just someone's very disturbed imagination. That's why they aren't meant for kids. I don't like those movies and I'm older than you" Dean spoke up.

"Then why did I hear creaking and scratching noises and Seth wasn't in his room?"

"I went to the bathroom the creaking noises were me. The scratching you heard, it was the tree branches hitting the windows," Seth says softly. "We'd never let anyone hurt or get you"

"But the power went out and wouldn't come back on right away"

"It was a power surge, it takes a while for the power to come back on," Dean told her, brushing some hair behind her ear. "If anyone were to ever get you, they'd have to go through me and Seth first"

"Dean's right, anyone who thinks they're brave enough would have to go through us to get anywhere near you" Seth agreed with his brother, moving hair from in front of her face.

"Besides we're the only ones who can scare you" Dean teased playfully.

Sarah chuckled as Seth gave him a playful mock glare. "You scare her she stays with you"

"I've had years of practice, what's your point?"

"Then tonight she's yours" Seth passed her over to him.

"Wait what?" Dean took her in his arms.

"You had years of practice, right? So tonight she can stay with you"

"But she came to you're room first"

Sarah had moved from Dean's hold and laid on Seth's bed and slowly fell asleep as they debated about who'd she stay with, soon they heard soft snores and looked to see their sister fast asleep. They chuckled shaking their head.

"Well it looks like she made her choice," Seth said with a chuckle.

Dean smiled and tossed the blanket on her as his brother straightened it out. "She'll be fine"

The two-toned man smiled brushing her hair back. "She'll always be fine. She has us watching over her"

"Damn straight"

Dean went back to his room and grabbed his pillow and blankets setting up a spot on the floor then shut the light off, Seth looked at his brother getting comfortable.

"Good night bro"

"Night" Dean gently patted Sarah's ankle. "Sleep tight, sweetheart"

Seth laid next to Sarah and gently brushed her hair back. "Sweet dreams honey"
