CHAPTER 3
They had just arrived at Eurotunnel. It was 5:45am. Everyone had just been woken up so they could go through passport control.
Now they had been through passport control and had checked in they had pulled into the car park and had 15 minutes before their letter was called. Everyone got off the bus and went in the direction of the toilets and duty free. However, duty free was closed much to the disappointment of a lot of the girls because they wanted to buy makeup. It didn't open till half 6, so they were a little bit early.
Cesca and Jonah were last off the bus as all the others had all quickly gone for breakfast. Cesca couldn't touch food till after 10 which was a nightmare when you've been up all night because she was starving.
They were just walking to meet everyone else inside when Cesca suddenly ran off to the bin to be sick.
Jonah quickly went after her and held her hair.
Chris went outside to see where they'd got to. The sight in front of Chris worried him and he ran over to Cesca and Jonah.
Jonah was holding Cesca's hair and was rubbing her back … To Chris this looked a little strange to see a pupil helping a teacher like this but to them this had become the normal.
Cesca had finished being sick and had cleaned herself up a little with the tissues that she kept in her bag.
"Are you sure you're alright Cesca"
"Yeah as I said I get really bad travel sickness and my new tablets are obviously not working"
Before Chris had a chance to reply to Cesca, Jonah cut in.
"Do I have time to go the toilet Sir"
"Yeah as long as you're quick … The first call for our train is in 5 minutes"
"Yeah … Chris I'm just gonna quickly clean myself up and get some water"
"Okay Cesca see you both back at the bus"
Cesca and Jonah began to walk inside just as everyone was coming out.
"How are you feeling?" Jonah said softly
"Not great … I still feel really sick"
"I'm sorry baby I really wish there was something I could do"
"It's okay … We're going to have a beautiful baby at the end of it" Cesca said smiling at Jonah
"I just want to kiss you right now"
"Yeah me too"
"I wish we didn't have to sneak around like this"
"I know … At least Adanna or Tom isn't here we wouldn't of been able to spend any time together"
"Yeah that is very true"
"Jonah could you go get me a bottle of water when you come back from the toilet please just you'll probably be quicker than me"
"Yeah sure"
With that they both went their separate ways into the toilets.
Jonah had gotten Cesca a couple of bottles of water and got himself an iced smoothie while he was at Starbucks. Cesca came out of the toilets just as Jonah was paying for the drinks.
They made it back to the bus with good timing because just as they were getting on the bus their letter for the train was called.
Once back on the bus the bus pulled round to the waiting area and it wasn't long before they were on the shuttle. They were the first bus in the queue so it meant that they were at the front.
The safety announcements had been made and the train was on its way to France.
"How are you feeling, Ces?"
"Actually a lot better I think I'm gonna try and eat something I'm absolutely starving … Oh and here's the money for the water you got me before"
"Don't worry about I just paid for it"
Jonah insisted.
"Thanks Jonah that's really kind of you"
"Ey least there is only 2 and a half hours left of the journey when we get off"
"Yeah … Have you been to Disneyland Paris before?"
"Yeah dad took me and Ruth about 3 years ago … What about you?"
"Well I moved over to Manchester from Seville in Spain for uni then when it came to do my year abroad they were trying out something new and they gave me the option of doing an extra year so I could do two years abroad so I moved back home for one year then I came and lived in Marne La Vallée for the second year and worked at Disneyland and got the job as Princess Jasmine"
"Oh wow Ces that sounds amazing"
"Yeah it was great. My best friend still works there and I still have quite a few friends who work at Disney so I'm gonna try and meet up with a couple of them"
"That'll be really nice for you"
"I would like you to come with me if you can"
"I'm sure that can be arranged"
"Plus I still get a discount so if you want to buy anything let me know … And please don't tell anyone I used to work there because no one knows and I would quite like to keep that a secret"
"Thanks … I won't, don't worry … I'll probably not even speak to Ronan and Vicky they're very loved up at the moment"
"Much like me and you then" Cesca winked
The 35 minute journey to France went really quickly. With the time difference it was now almost half 8 and they were finally on the last leg of the journey.
Lucky for Cesca her sickness seemed to have passed for now, so she could enjoy the journey, but she had some sick bags just in case.
As they were sitting on their own near the back of the bus with no one around them they could start to make plans for their baby and their life together.
"Ces I've been thinking … I think I'm going to put Manchester as my firm and Durham as my assurance choice"
"But Jonah you loved Durham"
"Yes but I liked Manchester just as much but, you and our baby are the most important thing in my life"
"I can't be the reason you change your plans"
"You're not, I want to do this … I think Manchester will be better for us as a family"
"What do you mean?"
"Well I rang Manchester on friday and explained that I had applied to do Spanish and that my circumstances had changed. I told them that I was expecting a baby with my girlfriend who was Spanish and that I was worried about my year abroad.
"What did they say?"
"They gave me an alternative… As I'll only have lectures 2 to 3 times a week I can do 2 or 3 days a week in a school helping in Spanish classes. Furthermore, they said I could do my year abroad over the 5 years so I would have to spend at least 210 days in Spain. Also the year that would be my year abroad they said that I could just do a full year helping out in a school. By doing it this way it means I get a degree and my PGCE"
"That sounds really good actually … Would we be able to visit my parents a couple of times?"
"That's what I wanted to talk to you about"
Cesca looked at him quizzically
"I was thinking that during all the school holidays we can go visit your parents. That way you get to see your family and they get to see their daughter and grandchild and it will count towards my 210 days in Spain because I've worked out I've got to approximately be in Spain for 42 days each year"
"Jonah, that sounds perfect" Cesca said with a big smile on her face
"It's even better because they are going to fund us as well because we are in quite a unique situation and also because we will have a baby we get extra support"
"Oh wow really … I understand why you're going to choose Manchester now because it is definitely going to be best for the family"
"I might even be able to get a job at Waterloo Road"
"Then we could work together"
Cesca was feeling quite content now as she had been worried about what was going to happen when Jonah went to University.
She was so scared he would just leave her and she would have to bring up the baby all on her own.
