Ch 20 Asking Forgiveness
"Mom!" Kiara cried out, her amber eyes wide. "Daddy! Come quick!" Within seconds Simba and Nala dashed out of the cave with Kion and Kopa.
"Kiara, my goodness, what's wrong?" Nala cried out.
"Yes Kiara why did you..." Simba began. But his amber eyes went wide when he saw Kovu and Vitani standing there. "What the Hell are you two doing here?!" Simba growled, baring his teeth at the eight month old cubs, who gulped in fear.
"Please King Simba have mercy on them," Kike pleaded. "They're here because they need to get away from Zira."
"Yeah she's crazy!" Kovu cried out. "And she won't leave us alone! If she's not beating up 'Tani then she forcing me to train and kill until I almost pass out! I can't take it anymore! I'll die if I go back!"
"Yeah please let us stay Sir!" Vitani cried out. "Mother will kill us if we go back to her!" Simba glared at Vitani, who gulped and backed up a step.
"Or worse!" Kovu chimed in. "She'll let Scar have at us! I get if you don't want us to stay here with you and your Pride but can we at least stay in the Pride Lands with our brother Nuka?" Simba stared at the young lion cub, impressed on how brave he was. After thinking for a few minutes Simba opened his mouth to speak but just then Tama and Tojo came onto the scene with Nuka and Asha right behind them. Nuka and Asha were both a year old now and Nuka had the beginnings of a jet black mane coming in. When Nuka saw Kovu and Vitani there his red eyes went wide with shock.
"What the heck are you guys doing here?" the brown coated young lion cried out, running over and embracing his younger siblings.
"We had to get away from Mother," Kovu explained. "She's completely lost it! And now that Scar's back she's like a million times crazier! And Scar is even worse than Mother is!"
"Yeah," Vitani chimed in. "We're really lucky that Scar hasn't killed us! The scary part is I'm pretty sure Mother would have let him do it if he wanted to."
"Oh I have no doubt she would have," Nuka said with a scowl.
"But Kike helped us even though she knows that if Mother finds out she betrayed her she'd kill her," Vitani informed her older brother.
"Yeah," Kovu cried out. "She's a hero!"
"Is she now?" Simba asked eyeing Kike suspiciously. The beige coated lioness gulped and silently hoped that Simba and his Pride weren't on to what she had been planning with her sister. The King opened his mouth to speak but before he could Kion .
"Don't believe them Dad!" the youngest Prince cried out, causing his family to look over at him in surprise.
"Kion what..." Simba began, his amber eyes wide as his golden coated son dashed in front of everyone and glared at Kike.
"Kike and her sister have been working with Zira all this time!" Kion informed his father. Simba's eyes went wide with surprise at hearing his son's words.
"Kion", the King began. "Are you certain about this. That is a pretty serious accusation to make."
"Yes Dad I'm a million percent sure", Kion said, still glaring at Kike.
"That doesn't make any sense," Nala said, shaking her head. "Why would Kike bring Vitani and Kovu here if she was working with Zira?"
"She wouldn't," Sarabi piped up suddenly, causing everyone to look over at her.
"Mom," Simba began, giving Sarabi a look. "Don't..."
"Oh Simba I'm just speaking the truth," Sarabi said with a slight smile. "As I've said before I've know Kike and Sasha ever since they were cubs. There is no way they'd ever betray you or this Pride.
"Well, it's true Grandma," Kion said, his voice getting softer. "I should know. They were the ones that helped me free Scar from that cave. Heck, they were the ones that convinced me to do it."
"Is this true Kike?" Simba asked, looking over at the beige coated lioness. Kike opened her mouth to respond but before she could suddenly Sasha came onto the scene and she instantly ran up to her younger sister.
"Of course, it's not true King Simba," Sasha piped up. "We would never betray you like that."
"Puh, that's a good one," Nuka scoffed. "You two have been plotting against King Simba for months now. I heard it with my own ears."
"Yes and young Vitani just said that Kike betrayed Zira by getting her and Kovu away from her and Scar," Sarafina chimed in, glaring at the two sisters.
"Yeah, besides why would Kion lie?" Kiara chimed in.
"Yes, why would my son lie about this?" Simba asked, looking at Kike and Sasha.
"Oh Simba for King's Sake isn't it obvious?' Sarabi said, rolling her amber eyes. Simba glared at his mother, but said nothing so Sarabi continued. "Nuka arranged this entire thing."
"That's not true!" Nuka cried out, his ruby eyes wide. "I would never..."
"Of course you wouldn't admit it," Sarabi scoffed, glaring at the young lion. "You probably have been threatening Kion into going along with your plan!"
"Grandma that's not true," Kion began. "I..." But the young Prince was cut off by his paternal grandmother.
"It's alright Kion," Sarabi said. "You don't have to be afraid of him anymore. You can tell us the truth."
"I have been," Kion began. But once again he was cut off by Sarabi.
"He won't hurt you dear one," Sarabi said. "Not while I'm here!" Sarabi was continuing to glare at Nuka the entire time she was speaking. Nuka was getting more and more angry and he was about to say something. But someone else beat him to it.
"Sarabi that's enough!" Tama roared, jumping between Sarabi and Nuka her teeth bared as she glared at the former Queen. Tojo was right beside his mate as he too glared at Sarabi. Sarabi backed up a step, her amber eyes wide with surprise.
"Tama," Sarabi began, her voice coming out softer than she intended.
"I warned you what would happen if you didn't back off my boy," Tama snarled. "Now you leave me no choice but to defend my son!" With that Tama raised her paw to strike Sarabi.
"No stop!" Kion cried out jumping between Tama and his grandmother. Tama had to jump back to prevent herself from hitting Kion. "This has gotten way out of hand!" Kion went on. Then he turned towards Sarabi and said, "Grandma Nuka had nothing to do with this. He hates Scar and Zira. I did this all on my own. Nuka isn't to blame. Sasha and Kike are. Please believe me." Kion looked at his grandmother with pleading amber eyes when he spoke. Sarabi's expression softened and she nuzzled her grandson, who gladly returned the nuzzle. Then Sarabi turned to Kike and Sasha, who were staring with wide eyes. "Is what my grandson said true?" Sarabi demanded, glaring at the sisters
Sasha went to speak but Kike beat her sister to the punch.
"I'm so sorry, King Simba!" Kike cried out. "I told Sasha this was a bad idea, but she wouldn't listen to me! I knew Scar and Zira were crazy but I had no idea just how crazy they were until now! That's why I had to get Kovu and Vitani away from her before something really bad happened to them! I just wish I could have saved Cala and Shida's cubs, too! Please forgive me!"
"I... I can't believe what I just heard," Sarabi said, sitting on the ground in shock.
"I've been trying to tell you this for weeks now," Nuka said with irritance. "But you didn't want to believe me."
"I...I'm sorry Nuka," Sarabi said softy. "I've been such a fool. This is just so unbelievable. I still can't wrap my head around this."
"Neither can I," Nala said softly. Then the Queen looked over at her mate, who was being oddly quiet. "Simba? What are you thinking?" Simba looked at his mate then he looked back at Kike and Sasha, who were stating wide eyed at the golden King. Then Simba opened his mouth to respond.
