Chapter 2: Alliances

Clarke and Buffy's group ran.

One of the boys went ahead and tripped over something. Clarke's group called him: Monty. They all looked at what he had tripped over with fear. It was a pile of human bones. Buffy stopped her group and Clarke stopped as well. Clarke held up a skull and examined it. It looked different from a normal human skull. She was instantly worried. Buffy shook her head and stated,

"That doesn't look human."

"What are they?" Clarke asked.

"We are so screwed," Octavia said.

They heard screams from Jasper and whirled around. Clarke dropped the skull and said, "Jasper, he's alive."

Clarke ran in the direction of Jasper's screams. The boy named Finn instantly ran after Clarke. Buffy motioned for her group to follow them. They all ran back to where Jasper was. Once they got there, they noticed that his body had been moved. Finn crouched down next to Clarke. Buffy stayed with Clarke as well. Monty got closer and asked,

"Where is he?"

"They took him," Clarke said.

Both groups went back to the dropship. Chaos erupted amongst the rest of the teenagers and they were shouting. Clarke followed the shouts and pushed past the teenagers. Buffy followed her and saw that two young men were in the center of the crowd. The teenagers chanted while the other two fought. Clarke shook her head and stepped forward.

"Wells! Stop!" Clarke said. "Let him go!" One of the boys named Wells let the other guy go.

He charged after Wells and there seemed to be one boy in charge. The boy in charge grabbed him and yelled, "Murphy, stop!"

Murphy dropped the issue and put his knife away. Clarke looked at the boy in charge and asked, "Bellamy, what is this?"

He turned around to face her and then saw that Octavia was injured. Monty handed Octavia to Bellamy and Buffy looked at all of them. Kennedy, Willow, Dawn, and the two Potentials remained quiet. Buffy walked over to Clarke and put her hand on her shoulder,

"We need to get back to our people."

"Who are they?" Bellamy asked.

"These are friends," Clarke explained and looked at the rest of the group. "We found them following us."

"What the hell happened out there?" Bellamy demanded.

"We never made it to Mt. Weather," Finn replied and sat down.

"It's true," Clarke said. "What we thought about the earth is wrong. There are survivors. The good news is that means we can survive, the radiation won't kill us."

"Radiation?" Buffy repeated and Clarke turned to her.

"You have no idea where you are, do you?" Clarke asked and Buffy shook her head. "There was a nuclear apocalypse," She explained. "It killed everyone on earth. Or so we thought. It's been ninety-seven years since then. Where the hell did you come from?"

"Sunnydale." Dawn blurted out and Buffy whirled around.

Buffy shook her head at Dawn. If they knew that they came from a portal, there would be consequences. Buffy was surprised at the radiation part. Why wasn't her group affected by it? Then she thought of the portal. All that energy, lightning, and thunder must have made it possible for them to survive the radiation. Kennedy rolled her eyes at Buffy.

"Ah hell, they aren't going to trust us if they don't know where we're from," Kennedy said and walked up to Clarke. "We came through a portal."

"Portal?" Clarke asked.

"A magical portal," Willow replied.

"Guys," Buffy spat and turned to the space group. "Yes, it's true."

"Why haven't you guys died from radiation?" Bellamy asked. "You're not like us."

"Because magic operates differently," Willow explained. "The magic from the portal must have prepared us for this earth. That's all we know."

"We came here a few hours ago when we saw your dropship," Buffy told them. "We thought it had supplies, but we were mistaken."

"No, the supplies are in Mt. Weather, which is where we need to go," Clarke said.

"Hey, where's the kid with the goggles?" Wells asked.

"Jasper was hit," Clarke said. "They took him."

"They?" Bellamy asked.

"The grounders," Finn replied.

"Where's your wristband?" Clarke asked Wells.

Buffy walked up to Clarke. "I saw those when we first found you guys. What are wristbands for?"

"The wristbands tell the Ark that we are alive. The Ark is dying and they need to know that the ground is survivable." Clarke explained. "If you take off the wristbands, they won't come down."

"Down?" Buffy asked.

"We were born in space," Clarke replied. "There's a space station up there known as the Ark. That's where we're from."

Dawn walked up to Buffy. "We need to get back to the others. It'll be dark soon."

"Others?" Bellamy asked.

"Yes, there are others of us," Buffy replied. "We can all pull our resources together and help each other."

"You're not the one in charge here," Bellamy said. "For all we know, you may be lying to us."

"But we're not," Kennedy said and stepped before Bellamy. "You think you're in charge here?"

"Yes, I do," Bellamy said. "Whatever the hell we want."

"Hm, nice slogan," Kennedy said. "But I can take you in a fight."

"Kennedy, no," Buffy said. "We aren't here to fight you. We're here to help you." She paused and looked at Kennedy. "Stand down."

Kennedy sighed heavily but backed off. Bellamy noticed that Buffy was in charge. He walked over to her and asked, "How many of you are there?"

"Enough of us, but not as many as you," Buffy replied. "We can work together. We can help each other. Like it or not, you need us."

"We can only trust each other," Bellamy argued.

"Yeah!" Some of the teenagers agreed.

"We have skills and weapons that you do not have against these people," Buffy announced and looked at all of them. "Are you going to turn down our help?"

Clarke walked over to her. "We could use all the help we can get," she said. "Take me to your people."

"What about Jasper?" Monty asked.

"We will help him. Maybe they can help us." Clarke said and he nodded.

Bellamy rolled his eyes and walked over to Octavia. He turned to one of the boys and said,

"No one touches her. I'm going with them."

Buffy led Clarke, Bellamy, and Finn over to her people on the bus. Giles stepped out of the bus. "Who are they?" Giles demanded.

"Helpers," Buffy replied and turned to them. "They were on the dropship. We were wrong. The dropship didn't have supplies, but a hundred kids."

"Two of us are already dead," Clarke said. "But the rest of us can help. Maybe we can help each other."

"Buffy, are you sure this is a good idea?" Giles asked and Buffy nodded.

"We can trust them. At least, we can trust Clarke." Buffy said.

"And me," Finn said and held out his hand. Bellamy remained silent.

Giles looked at it and hesitated, but he shook it. "Welcome," he said. "These are our people."

"Quite a few of you," Bellamy stated.

Clarke looked at the bus. "Is anyone hurt?"

"Yes," Buffy said. "This is what is left of us as well."

"Left?" Clarke repeated and Buffy nodded.

"We were in the middle of a fight," Buffy explained. "The final battle."

Faith stepped out of the bus. "Who the hell are they?" She asked with attitude.

Clarke rolled her eyes. "We aren't doing this again," she said and pushed passed Fatih. "Finn, come on."

Faith stepped outside the bus and watched Bellamy. She didn't like him. Finn stepped onto the bus. He had never been inside a vehicle before. He was in awe when he noticed all the injured people on the bus. They were mostly girls. There were three men. A blonde, a brunette, and a bald guy were the only guys there other than Giles. The blonde walked over to the two teenagers and said,

"State your names and your business."

"I'm Finn and this is Clarke," Finn introduced them. "We are here to help."

"Oh," the blonde said. "I'm Andrew. Nice to meet you."

Clarke rolled her eyes and attended to the wounded. She introduced herself to a few of the Potentials and Finn helped her out with some first aid. Then, once they were done, they reported to Buffy and Giles.

"I helped everyone that I could," Clarke said. "But now we have to find Jasper before it gets dark. He's still alive."

"Agreed," Buffy said. "Faith and I can go with you."

Faith kept a close eye on Bellamy and noticed his gun. "What's that for?" She asked.

"What do you think?" Bellamy snapped and crossed his arms.

Faith looked at her and shook her head. Buffy nodded, demanding her help. Clarke rolled her eyes and looked at Finn. "Let's go after Jasper."

Finn, Faith, Buffy, Bellamy, and Clarke went after Jasper. They found a waterfall and some blood. Clarke and Buffy thought it was Jasper's blood. It made sense. They also found his goggles. Finn turned to them and said,

"We're close."

They continued to hike until they found more blood. They came across a large tree where Jasper was tied to it. It appeared his wound had been fixed. Clarke took a step forward and almost fell into a pit with sharp stakes. Bellamy caught her and pulled her up with Faith and Buffy's help. Finn helped as well. He didn't trust Bellamy either. They pulled her up and they all looked at Jasper.

"Why would they string him up like that?" Faith asked.

"I don't know," Buffy said. "But we need to get him down."

Finn and Faith pulled Jasper down from the tree when a large black animal came chasing after them. Bellamy pulled out his weapon and shot at the animal. The animal was dead. Bellamy and Finn carried the animal back to camp. Clarke and Buffy carried Jasper. Faith went to the bus and told a few of the Potentials to come back and help. They all went to the dropship. Bellamy put the animal down on the ground and asked,

"Who's hungry?"

"Yeah!" The crowd shouted.
