Life continued to be great for Max, Roxanne and Jimmy since they got free from the awful Jake. They got rid of the stuff that the Mortons owned and the judge gave to them during the trial. They gave the business empire Morton Enterprises to Scrooge McDuck to take over and sort out, they gave all the dwellings the Mortons owned in Dallas to real estate agent Peg to sort out, who was also Max's mother figure ever since they first met when he was eleven and a half years old, and they gave all the lands that Mortons owned but did nothing with them to the wildlife charity Wildlife World, which one of the patrons was the high school friend Lisa. The people they gave the stuff to were the right people because not only was it good for their business, but also it helped a lot of people and wildlife. This made Max, Roxanne and Jimmy felt even prouder about what they did than they ever thought they would be.

Once all that stuff was taken care of, Max, Roxanne and Jimmy moved out of Max's old apartment and into a new house in Forksville, again with help from Peg. The house was nice and big enough for the three of them and had a nice front garden and a nice back garden, which was what both Max and Roxanne wanted and Jimmy liked it as well. None of them wanted the stress of looking after a mansion in the middle of a large park. And neither Roxanne nor Jimmy missed Jake's penthouse in Dallas. Despite its very beautiful interior designs and expensive tastes in everything in it, if they continued to live in the penthouse even without Jake, they would have nothing but nightmares, mental scars and triggers from the past.

Another thing good about the house was that it was very close to Forksville Elementary School, which Max and Roxanne managed to successfully get Jimmy into it. It was only ten minutes away so Jimmy could walk to it and back home in ten minutes, as long as he was with either Roxanne or Max or one of his friends. Jimmy still wasn't the biggest school fan in the world, but, thanks to the right encouragement from both Max and Roxanne, he always put his best efforts into his schoolwork and his grades improved more than the ones he had while he attended the private elementary school when he lived in Dallas. And even though he still wasn't an A student, the teachers were still impressed with his hard-working efforts and his very good conduct.

As well as improving his grades, Jimmy had more friends in Forksville than he ever did in Dallas. In Dallas, he tried his very hardest to make friends, but the other kids he had to associate with were rich, entitled, spoiled brats and they were the kids of Jake's friends. Roxanne always believed that if Jimmy continued to be associated with those kids and lived with Jake, he would have completely lost himself and become just like them. For the last year and a half, Jimmy was allowed to be himself and live with people who loved him and he had friends who liked him exactly the way he was, especially his very best friend Lucy from Forksville Orphanage. Whenever he could, Jimmy would go and visit her at the orphanage to either play with her or help her when she needed it.

Roxanne did take Jimmy to Forksville Prison so he could visit his real dad on visiting days, but every time they went to visit him, Jake never bothered to come out of his cell to see his son. After trying a few times, neither Roxanne nor Jimmy thought this was worth keep trying if Jake wasn't going to make the effort to see his own son. This only showed to them that this was how very little Jake cared about Jimmy. And as time went on, Jimmy didn't seem to even think about his father, let alone miss him. And Jimmy was very young when his own grandfather Gary died in his plane crash, so he never remembered him at all.

Roxanne was very grateful that Max bonded with Jimmy on their owns terms. Despite their differences, with Max being sporty and Jimmy being arty among them, they got on well and helped each other the best they both could, just as much as both of them helped Roxanne as best as they could. Even though he wasn't technically Jimmy's stepfather, Max was a great father figure to him and he was certainly a lot better than Jake ever was.

Despite not being interested in sports, Jimmy was fit and healthy in his own way. When he needed to go anywhere, he would either walk or ride on his bike and he would only eat what Roxanne would give him to eat, which was mostly a lot of healthy food. And he did have PE at school and he did try a lot of sports, but he never got into them. He always preferred to draw them.

As for Max, after being an admin volunteer at the head office of Children For The Future for two years, he got his first paying job in his whole life of being a cleaner at the Forksville Gym. And only in the last year and a half, he kept getting promoted quite a lot. After being a cleaner, he got promoted to a gym instructor and then he got promoted to the head gym instructor. He would help people and motivate them to try the weight and aerobic machines and keep up their fitness. He was the most popular gym instructor with all the gym customers, especially with all the female customers, from teenagers to elderly women, which made Roxanne secretly jealous and a bit of worried if any one of them were going to steal him away from her.

As for Roxanne, only after a few weeks of being a volunteer cook, she became promoted as head chef at the hospital owned by Children For The Future because her cooking was the one the sick children liked the most out of all the cooks. She enjoyed cooking meals and helping the other volunteer cooks with their meals for the sick children. But sadly, after being head chef for one year, the children's charity was forced to sell the hospital to a different hospital administrator and he brought his own hospital staff.

But thanks to their volunteer experience which helped them look good on their resumes, the previous hospital staff managed to move on and get paid jobs, including Roxanne. She managed to get a part time job as a waitress at a small cafe. And even though she got paid very little, whether she got paid by the hour or by the customer tips she earned, she was very grateful for it and it helped her to get out of the house and provide for Max and Jimmy in her own way.

Max and Roxanne still helped Children For The Future at fundraising events, like at marathons or dance nights among them, because they were very grateful for the charity to help them prove their worth and help them look good on their resumes to get the paid jobs they had and they both wanted to give back to the charity and help it continue its mission to help all the disadvantaged children in the USA.

At first, despite being delighted that both were back in each other's lives, Max and Roxanne were unsure about starting a new relationship between them, like the one they had in high school, because Roxanne still wasn't over her terrible experiences with that horrible Jake and Max still wasn't over what his last girlfriend Mona did to him. But as time went on and the more they live together and got to know each other, they finally decided to try a new relationship between each other and they were very glad they did.

Max, Roxanne and Jimmy went on many wonderful vacations. In 2003, after they moved into their new house and sorted it out and got their paid jobs, they went on a road trip where they saw Max's dad Goofy and his partner Sylvia Marpole, whom Roxanne and Jimmy met for the first time and had got on very well since then. On the same road trip, that was when Jimmy met the friends of Max and Roxanne for the first time, including PJ, Bobby, Stacey and Lucy, PJ's beret girlfriend from college, in Los Angeles. It was also the first time since Roxanne met Stacey, PJ and Bobby since high school and they were delighted to see each other again and she made a new friend out of Lucy as well. Their friends told them about their lives and their successful careers, with PJ being a head chef at a restaurant, Lucy being a successful poet, Bobby now being the manager of the stadium he worked at and Stacey being a successful psychologist. And their friends took an immediate shine to Jimmy and Jimmy took the same shine to them, even calling them 'Uncle PJ', 'Uncle Bobby', 'Auntie Stacey' and 'Auntie Lucy'. They all told Max and Roxanne that how friendly and polite Jimmy was and how well they raised him to be.

In 2004, they went on vacation to New York City and they had a great one. They stayed at a lovely hotel and they enjoyed visiting the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Times Square and doing a lot of shopping and eating at lot of the city's best restaurants.

Also, in 2004, Goofy and Sylvia got married. It was an amazing day and Max was Goofy's best man and Roxanne was very honored that Sylvia asked her to be a bridesmaid. Their Duckberg friends were among those invited to the wedding and so Jimmy was with Scrooge and his friends Huey, Dewey, Louie Duck and Webby Vanderquack, while Max and Roxanne had their own jobs to do.

However, life for Max, Roxanne and Jimmy wasn't perfect or free of problems, as life never was for anyone. For Roxanne, she kept feeling that she wasn't doing her bit enough for herself, for her son and for Max. She was still delighted that Max was back in her life but in early 2005, he didn't spend much time with her as he used to. He was still nowhere as bad as Jake. He wasn't horrible to her, he did talk to her every day and ask how her day was and he remembered to buy her presents for birthday and Christmas and support her the best way he could and she was still grateful for all of that, but she felt he was trying to distant a bit from her and she didn't know why and he didn't tell her about his feelings. She kept thinking if it was because when they tried to have their own baby in early 2005, but through many medical reasons, she couldn't. She was depressed enough not being able to have her own children, but because Max was being a bit distant from her and not talking to her about it, she felt that she let him down. He never said she did, but that was how she felt. And she felt that she couldn't tell him how she felt about it because he was always keeping himself busy.

For Jimmy, he was sad because his best friend Lucy had to move to another orphanage as the one she was at had to be closed down and she was the only orphan left in it. He was upset because he might never see her again. He was even worried if they couldn't even be pen pals.
