(A/N: You know, at the rate Bowser's going, he may never tell Jr. about Clawdia, and Kamek knows it. How are they going to get him to open up and tell the boy about his late mother? Let's get this show on the road and find out!)
When Bowser and Jr.'s next attempts to get Princess Peach away from Mario with help from the Koopalings (who only did it because Bowser offered to triple their allowance for 4 months), Kamek decided that enough was enough. It was time for the old Magikoopa to do something about this, but he needed the cooperation of the Koopalings if he was going to do it.
That night, during supper, Kamek went into the group text session with the Koopalings on his phone and sent a text that they received right away. Upon receiving the message, they felt their phones vibrate (they always turned the sound off during supper). Without Bowser seeing, they looked down at their laps to read the message on their phones. It said, "See me in the entertainment room after supper."
The Koopalings slowly turned their heads to look over at Kamek, who gave them a slight nod that neither Bowser nor Jr. noticed. They returned the nod, but as they ate, they wondered what the Magikoopa had to say to them after the meal. Was it good, or was it bad? Did he need their help with something?
After supper, the Koopalings obediently followed Kamek to the entertainment room while Bowser talked with Jr. about what went wrong in their most recent plan to get Princess Peach.
"All right, Kamek. We know you want to talk with us, so start talking." said Roy as he and his siblings sat down before the Magikoopa.
"I don't know if you kids have realized this or not, but do you remember when your father said that he told Jr. the truth about Peach? That she never was his mom?" Kamek asked.
"Yeah, we remember, but you know what? I don't think Jr. actually believes it. Why else was he making plans to kidnap her? Why was he all for King Dad's latest plans to capture her? He wants her as his mother, and he doesn't care that we don't want her here!" said Larry.
"I'm aware of that, but that's not what I meant. What I'm trying to say is that your dad didn't tell him the whole truth. He told him that Peach wasn't his mother, but he has yet to tell Jr. who his real mother is: your adoptive mother." Kamek finished.
"Wait a minute! King Dad still hasn't told Jr. the whole truth?!" Wendy asked.
"That's exactly what I'm saying, Wendy. Your little brother only knows that Peach isn't his mother. He never did find out who his mommy is... yet. And that's why he still thinks of her as such." said Kamek.
"Okay, this can't go on any longer. We've got to find some way to help Jr. learn the full truth. And screw what King Dad says about not telling him. If he's not gonna tell him, then we're going to have to tell him. It's as simple as that." Ludwig said.
"Yeah, because if we don't do it sooner or later, he's never going to realize the main reason why King Dad even wants Princess Peach around here, and it's not just so he'll have a mom. He'll never realize that Peach never wanted King Dad to begin with. So we need to start looking for a way to prove that she was never his mother, and never wanted to be." said Morton.
"That's just what I was going to say. Are you with me?!" Kamek asked.
"YES!" the Koopalings shouted in unison.
"Great! Tomorrow, we're going to start searching Bowser's bedroom for something, anything that can help Jr. learn that his father was never once romantically involved with Princess Peach." Kamek replied, happy to have earned himself the cooperation of the Koopalings.
The next morning, after breakfast, everyone in Bowser's Castle had something to do. Bowser was in the meeting room, having a meeting with his army, Jr. was in his room, painting a picture, and the Koopalings were searching Bowser's room with Kamek. They were looking around for some small detail that Bowser might have missed when he lied to Jr. about his real mom. So far, they weren't having much luck.
Suddenly, Lemmy found a box in the back of Bowser's closet. He slowly opened the box, then used his flashlight to look inside. The box contained a lot of DVDs, which really surprised him. He took one out, looked at the name of it, and gasped. He looked at the other DVDs, then peeked his head out of the closet, yelling, "Guys, come here and take a look at this!"
The other Koopalings came running when they heard their brother yell.
"What have you found, Lemmy?" Iggy asked, seeing the box.
"A box that I don't recall seeing in here before. I opened it up, and... you're never gonna believe what I found inside it!" Lemmy said.
"Is it Mom's old jewelry?" Wendy asked. She wouldn't mind having some of it.
"No, I think I found all the proof we need! Take a look." Lemmy said, stepping aside so his siblings could see what was inside of it.
By that time, Kamek appeared, asking, "What's going on in here?"
"Lemmy found something." said Roy as he and his siblings looked in the box to see all the DVDs, but they weren't any DVDs like the Koopalings had ever seen before. They looked like the kind you get at the store, to copy movies and the like onto.
Larry took one out and found that it was labeled "Bowser's Wedding Day", and he said, "Hey, you guys gotta look at the name of this one!"
"What have you got there?" asked Ludwig, before seeing the title of the DVD and yelling, "Whoa, baby!"
Kamek saw what Larry was holding and said, "Oh, wait a minute! I know what these are!"
"You do? Then maybe you can explain them to us?" asked Morton.
"Certainly. Do you kids remember the year your father lied to Jr.?" Kamek began.
"Who could forget?" Iggy asked, still annoyed by that thought.
"Well, at the end of the year before that, I had decided that my resolution for the new year would be to turn all of your dad's old video tapes into DVDs (since it would hurt him to lose them if they went bad), so I spent the first month of the new year doing just that. All of them had been converted by the start of February." Kamek finished.
"Really? Did you ever tell King Dad about them?" asked Wendy.
"No, I did this to surprise him. I put them in that box and left it in the closet for him to find. But I don't think he ever saw the box because he surely would have mentioned it to me if he had." Kamek replied.
"And if he didn't see the box, then he didn't know about them. And if he didn't realize they were there, then he couldn't have asked you to tamper with them." said Ludwig.
"That's right! He didn't do that! If he didn't notice them, I didn't have to ruin them!" Kamek realized.
"Do they even work?" asked Roy.
"Oh, I'm pretty sure they do, if Bowser never watched them. Let's go and test one out." said Kamek.
So they eagerly took the whole box to the castle's entertainment room, turned on the T.V., popped the wedding DVD into the DVD player in the room, and waited for it to start.
Sure enough, when the video began, everyone saw Bowser standing at the altar in a chapel of some sort, dressed in a fancy white tux that didn't look as bad as the one we see him wearing in "Super Mario Odyssey" (that adventure had yet to happen). He also seemed a little nervous as he fidgeted with his bow tie.
"Wow, look at King Dad!" Wendy said.
"He cleans up pretty good for his wedding day." said Iggy.
And then they all heard the familiar intro of "Here Comes The Bride". Bowser turned his head, and the camera moved as well, so the viewers could see that a female Koopa had just entered the room. Even though it had been years since the Koopalings and Kamek had seen her, they recognized her in an instant.
"It's Queen Mom!" Lemmy gasped.
Yes, the bride was none other than Clawdia Koopa, Bowser's first (and late) wife. And she looked rather pretty for a Koopa. Her face and her shell were light green (like Jr.'s), and her large eyes were a bright, sparkling blue, fringed with long lashes. Her hair was short and strawberry-blonde, and her yellow body didn't look as scaly as Bowser's, due to the fact that she lotioned herself on a regular basis, to keep it smooth. She was also slightly smaller than Bowser.
The soon-to-be Koopa Queen looked radiant on her wedding day, even though she wasn't wearing a wedding dress. She wore a long wedding veil adorned with glittering swirls of silver, with a small silver and diamond tiara keeping it in place. In her hands she carried a big bouquet of Piranha Plants, tied together with a gold silken ribbon. She also wore a few pieces of silver jewelry, and judging by the huge smile on her pretty face, she looked very happy to be getting married.
"Wow, all that silver really made Queen Mom shine." said Larry, admiring the sight of their adoptive mother in her wedding day splendor.
Then the camera moved back to Bowser, who looked positively joyful at the sight of his bride. You'd think he had just laid his eyes on a goddess. In fact, he looked happier with her than he ever did with Peach, and it wasn't just because he knew Peach hated him.
"SUCCESS! WE'VE GOT PROOF!" the Koopalings yelled in excitement as they high-fived each other and Kamek. It was time for them to get Jr. and show him what they knew!
"I'll stay here and keep an eye out for your father, just in case his meeting ended early. You kids go and fetch your little brother." Kamek told the children as he backed up the movie.
So the Koopalings went to look for Jr., who was still in his room, but he'd finished his painting and was now admiring his handiwork. The finished painting showed Princess Peach looking at Bowser with stars in her eyes, and Jr. and the Koopalings were all standing behind her, looking happy as they held up Mario, who appeared to be dead, since there was an 'X' where one of his eyes would be.
"Ha! Take that, Mario!" Jr. said to himself with a smile of satisfaction.
At that moment, Jr. heard what sounded like a bunch of people coming. When he heard the knock at his door (which he had closed so he could work in peace), he put the painting under his bed and asked, "Who is it?"
"It's us! Your big brothers and sister! And we've got something really important to tell you, so if you're smart, you'll let us in there." Morton said.
"Oh. The door isn't locked, you know. Come in." Jr. replied.
The door opened, and Iggy said, "Well, Jr., we were looking around King Dad's room not too long ago, and we found something in there that you might find very interesting. If you come with us, we'll show you what it is."
Jr.'s eyes lit up at that thought, and he had a smile on his face as he said, "Okay!" He eagerly followed his older siblings as they walked to the castle's entertainment room.
Kamek was standing at the door, keeping a sharp eye out for any sign of Bowser or the kids. He looked happy when he saw the Koopalings returning to the room with the one person who really needed to see the movie they were going to watch.
"Hello, Jr." Kamek replied.
"Hey, Kamek. What's up?" Jr. asked.
"I'll let your siblings explain it to you." Kamek replied.
"We found a box of movies in King Dad's room. And they happen to be movies that we think you're really going to like." said Lemmy.
"So let's sit on down and see what we'll see." suggested Larry.
"Are they going to be dirty?" Jr. asked as he and his siblings got themselves situated.
"No, none of these are dirty movies. And a child your age shouldn't be watching anything X-rated anyway." said Kamek as he played the movie so Jr. could see what was going on.
"Is that... Papa?" Jr. asked when he saw the Koopa in the white tuxedo.
"Yeah, Jr. That's King Dad." said Ludwig.
"Wow. He looks really good. But why?" asked Jr.
"Because he's getting married in this movie." Roy explained.
"Oh." Jr. said. He didn't ask who he was marrying, 'cause he was sure he already knew who the bride was going to be.
That was when he heard "Here Comes The Bride", and he saw the camera and Bowser turn to see... not Princess Peach, but a female Koopa walking into the room. Someone Jr. did not recognize.
"Huh? Who is that?!" Jr. asked as he looked at the unidentified woman who was approaching his father.
"Care to guess?" asked Kamek.
Jr. didn't really know. He couldn't figure out who that woman was. He watched as she reached the altar and smiled brightly at Bowser, who gave her an equally happy smile as he took her hand in his.
"Could that be...?" Jr. asked himself as he saw the way his father looked at the woman next to him.
Then Kamek's voice in the movie confirmed his suspicion. He said, "We have gathered here today to witness the union of King Bowser and Miss Clawdia."
"Wait a minute! Is she my...?" Jr. asked.
"Yes, Jr. That woman with King Dad is your real mom." Wendy whispered.
"My real..." Jr. gasped. His head swam as he listened to Kamek in the movie asking Bowser, "Do you, King Bowser, take Clawdia to be your queen? Do you promise to love her, comfort her, honor and keep her in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others, keep thee only unto her, 'til your games be over?"
Jr. listened as Bowser said, "I do." Then he listened as Kamek asked the same question to the Koopa woman identified as 'Clawdia', and she also said, "I do."
Then Jr. watched quietly as Bowser and Clawdia exchanged their wedding rings and hand-written vows, promising that they would never stop loving each other for anyone or anything, and that any arguments they might have in their married life wouldn't last more than 24 hours.
Jr. didn't understand. If this Clawdia woman was his mom, then how come his papa never told him about her? Why did he tell him that Peach was his mother?
"If anyone here objects to this union, speak now, or forever hold your peace." Kamek said in the movie.
The only sound heard in the room was the familiar sound of a cricket chirping. Bowser looked down, then stepped on something, and the chirping stopped. Apparently, there had been a cricket in the room, and it was chirping right at his and Clawdia's feet, which was a very dangerous place for it to be.
"Very well, then. By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife!" Kamek announced. Everyone cheered as Kamek turned to look at Bowser and said, "You may kiss the bride!"
As Jr. watched Bowser and Clawdia kiss, he covered his eyes and said, "Ew! Gross! Adults making out!"
"Behave yourself, Jr.! That's Queen Mom kissing with King Dad, you know!" said Lemmy.
"IT BURNS!" Jr. yelled in a most immature fashion.
"Maybe he was too young to watch this. And he probably would've handled it better if he'd seen them do that before." Kamek said.
"Yeah. The sight of them kissing like that was always a good thing for us. It meant that they were very much in love, that they weren't planning on annulling their marriage." Ludwig said.
"And that's mostly because if your mother chose to renounce their marriage, then she would lose everything that came with it." Kamek explained.
"So you're saying my mama wasn't always a queen?" Jr. asked, watching as Kamek in the movie used his wand to replace Clawdia's wedding tiara with a fancy gold crown, and he said in a loud voice, "Allow me to present King Bowser and Queen Clawdia of the Koopas!" This caused the audience to cheer wildly.
"That's right, Jr. Your mother wasn't born into royalty like your father was. He was already the king, but he knew that he wanted a queen, so when he found the woman he knew he wanted to marry, he started to prepare her for royal life long before their wedding day arrived. He told me that he wanted her to be his queen, even though I'm sure that she was really supposed to be his consort. But since he was the king, he could have his way." Kamek explained.
When the crowd stopped cheering, Bowser said, "All right, now it's time for the reception back at my castle. So let's get going and have some real fun!" Then the newlyweds joined hands as they made their way out of the chapel, with Clawdia casually tossing the Piranha Plant bouquet into the crowd behind her as they walked out.
"What happened next?" Jr. asked.
"The wedding reception, of course, but it shows your parents kissing a lot, and you've already made it clear to us that you really don't want to see that." Kamek told him as he pushed the 'stop' button.
They put the DVD back in its case before eagerly digging into the box to see what else there was. Morton found a DVD entitled "The Honeymoon". Iggy found some called "Home Movies", which had been made after the Koopalings had been adopted, and then Larry found a DVD entitled "Welcome Bowser Jr.".
"Guys! Check this out!" Larry said, holding up the DVD.
"Oh yes! That's going to be a good one!" Wendy said as she read the name of the DVD.
"If Jr. needs real proof that Queen Mom is who we say she is, then he'll have no choice but to believe us after he sees this one!" said Larry as he showed it to Kamek. Kamek read the name of the DVD and smiled with approval.
"You're going to show me another movie with my mom in it?" Jr. asked.
"Yes, Jr., and this is for your own good." said Roy.
"So let's watch it!" said Kamek, popping the next DVD in.
Sorry to spoil everything, but they're going to watch the DVD in the next chapter. What is Jr. going make of it? And what is Bowser going to think if he walks in and sees what they're watching? I'll tell you... to stay tuned if you wish to receive the answer to those questions!
