Chapter 8: A Virus of Silence (2):

Mayako's POV:

I was on my way to Hiroshi's house.

Hiroshi's POV:

Everyone refused to go until I explained, so I took the van and drove off on my own, except, Chisuzu got in the van. "I want to go with you," says Chisuzu.

I really didn't have time to argue, so I just drove off...

Mayako's POV:

I arrived at Hiroshi's house. I managed to get in and now I have to find that tape.

Hiroshi's POV:

I was still on my way to stop Mayako.

Mayako's POV:

I was looking for the tape. I then found it!

Hiroshi's POV:

We were still on our way.

Mayako's POV:

I put it in the VCR, but... "Listen, you'll die if you watch that tape!" I was going to change my mind, but I played the tape...

Hiroshi's POV:

We arrived. "Wait in the van," I said.

"Okay," says Chisuzu.

I then got in the house.

...

"Mayako..." I was too late! She was watching the tape!

"This is just Nao Matsuzaki's music video," says Mayako.

"Why did you watch it," I asked, "I told you the person who watches it will die!"

"What are you talking about," asks Mayako.

"Our dead classmates," I said, "they died 13 days after watching that tape! Takashi Yamamura... He watched the tape too!"

"But... Do you really believe it? That everyone who watches it will die?"

"5 people have died after watching the tape," I said. Mayako then continues watching it. "Turn it off!"

"Let me watch it," says Mayako, "I'm not so easily convinced. It's just impossible."

I then turned around and saw Chisuzu was there, watching! "Chisuzu," I said. I then turned it off. "You didn't see what was on the screen, did you?" She didn't say anything. "You didn't see it, right?"

"The girl who's singing is scary," says Chisuzu. I was horrified.

"Could it really be true," asks Mayako.

"She saw it," I said, "my worst fear has come true!" Then the phone was ringing. I was hugging Chisuzu. Mayako gets up and answers.

"Who is this," asks Mayako, "who is this?" She then started getting frustrated. "Who are you?"

"Let it be," I said.

...

"I'll tell you on one condition, I hope you can bail me out." I had no other choice!

...

I called Det. Harashima. "5 high school students took drugs 3 years ago," I said, "you know the case. You probably can never forget it. The case was not really looked into. I know a reporter and had him look into it. I can see the headlines, 'Secret Criminal Records of Police Family'. What do you think?"

"What are your terms?"

...

Ryūji is now let out. The news was hounding him.

...

As soon as he entered his room, I punched him. "Why did you reveal it," I asked, "why tell her about the tape? Mayako has watched it and so has my sister! It's all your fault. Both of them may die. Do you understand how I feel? A person who doesn't love anyone will never understand how I feel."

"Is that all you have to say," asks Ryūji.

"What did you say," I asked.

"Let me read it," says Ryūji, "isn't that the reason you bailed me out? I'll keep my promise. I'll tell you who possesses that special ability. What's the matter with you? Don't you wish to save your sister?" I then grabbed him by the shirt.

...

Ryūji takes a look. "That's the one," says Ryūji.

I then took a look. "Sadako Yamamura," I asked.

"30 years ago, she was killed and thrown into a well so she wouldn't mentally torment others! In life, she had psychic abilities! Now, comes the problem... the fact that she's dead!"

"Yamamura," I said.

"The man you found dead is her uncle," says Ryūji.

"Why didn't you tell me," I asked.

"You know the rules of the game," says Ryūji, "if you think you'll fail, you will. That's what you are now."

...

Now I know what I'm dealing with! She must've been the girl I kept seeing! If I could find a way to make contact with her, I could put a stop to all of this! I then found Mayako watching that tape on the computer. "Where did you go," asks Mayako.

"What are you doing," I asked.

"Checking what else is there I should know," says Mayako.

"Don't touch my things," I said.

"First, you break up with me, then you hide something from me," says Mayako, "I don't feel like death is near!" She looks at the hill. "I've seen it before."

"I want to show you something," I said.

...

"You may understand after watching it," I said. I showed her a thing about telekinetic-writing. It mentions Sadako Yamamura's mother and also mentions a rumor that she had her child with Poseidon, the God of the Seas.

"Did this Sadako make that tape," asks Mayako.

"According to Ryūji," I said, "but there is one thing, she's dead!"

"What's wrong with you," asks Mayako, "why must you believe him? There's no way a dead girl who be doing anything!"

"Her spirit haunts whoever sees that tape," I said, "if I could find a way to talk to her, I could end all of this! I know that she fell into a well when she died! Maybe I just need to find that well!"

"And where would you find it," asks Mayako.

I then thought about it. "The Inn! The Inn where all the trouble began! The well has to be around that inn!"

"You're going back there," asks Mayako.

"Yes," I said, "if I set off now, I could arrive tomorrow morning."

"Just because of what someone said," asks Mayako, "have you lost it?"

"I'm going to spend 3 days to find a way to stop this," I said, "do you want to come along?"

"There is no telekinetic-writing," says Mayako, "I'll search for other reasons!" She then left.

Dr. Domyoji's POV:

"Dr. Domyoji.

"Yes," I asked.

"The body has been brought here."

"Give me a few minutes," I said, "take it to the autopsy room." I then took a look.

Hiroshi's POV:

I tried to call Dr. Domyoji, but she wouldn't pick up. I then called Mom. "Hiroshi, where are you," asks Mom.

"Mom, there's something I have to take care of," I said, "I love you all!" I then hung up.

Dr. Domyoji's POV:

"We'll begin the autopsy," I said, "this is the body under examination. Cause of death is myocardial infraction. We have not found other causes yet. I'll explain how myocardial infraction occurred. Take note of even the minutest detail."

"Yes, Ma'am."

"All right, let's begin." We then took a look at the body.

Ryūji's POV:

Mai was listening to her music box again. I closed it.

Hiroshi's POV:

I saw Mayako running after me. "I decided to come with you," says Mayako, "but I still think you've lost your mind!" I was about to kiss her, but she stopped me. "And this does not mean I'm taking you back!"

"You will die in 13 days," I said.

"Well, we'll find out, won't we," says Mayako.

Dr. Domyoji's POV:

"This is strange.

Ryūji's POV:

I had a vision... "The trap is here," says Mai, "tie it with a rope."
