A brave girl's justice.

[ACMI: Into Darkness]

The team had to hide from some patrolling robots now that they were out on the ground level.

"How are we going to get past the wall?" Saten whispered as one of them passed by.

"None of us have the ability to hack it open right now." GV noted "Besides, that would attract too much attention."

Joule wrote a note and held it up "What about going over the wall?"

"It's a sheer wall, none of us would be able to climb it. I might be able to if my ability worked but you two wouldn't be able to follow me." GV explained.

Saten looked up at the detention building.

"Hey, the building's close to the wall and the same sort of height, think we could jump?"

GV and Joule looked up and GV shrugged "Maybe, but that would require getting to the roof. There are guards in the way and they'd raise an alarm."

"If we could get past the first floor we'd be fine." Saten disagreed, pointing at some open windows "Look, we could navigate from window to window to avoid patrols."

Joule nodded slightly and GV sighed "Let me lead, I've had to do stealth missions before so I can guide you."

They made their way around the outside of the detention block, pausing now and again to avoid the patrolling robots before finding an emergency exit.

GV put his hand up to the door for a moment but shook his head "My powers still work to help my senses. This door is alarmed. Let's keep going."

They eventually found a window that wasn't alarmed and GV managed to hit it in a way that the lock was damaged before pulling it open.

Inside was what looked like a storage room. GV helped the other two in before peaking out the door.

"My phone!" Saten noted behind him. They had coincidentally ended up in the room their confiscated electronics were in. The three grabbed their things before GV peaked out into the corridor again.

"I'll scout for a bit." GV noted, both of you, stay here."

Getting a nod from both of them, he slipped out and began heading around. His feet padded lightly. The metal in the soles of his boots being muffled by some cloth he'd grabbed from the store room.

He noted security cameras, guard patrols and the location of the stairs before heading back to the others and leading them up to the second floor and another storeroom. From there they ducked out another window.

There was a thin railing that ran along the building that they could walk on. GV didn't know why it was there but it made it easier for them.

Heading into another room, they found a room full of junk, destroyed robots from the test. There were also some of those weird faced robots which managed to spook Saten again. Since these were junk though, Saten was able to search around and find one that she'd dropped her climbing gloves in earlier.

From there they kept going until they came to the roof where they discovered something bad.

The distance between the roof of the detention block and the wall was further than they had guessed from the ground. No normal jump could take them to the top of the wall.

Joule pulled out a new note and wrote on it "Can you prevade across GV?"

GV shook his head "No, I wouldn't be able to move myself that far while in my electron cloud right now without damaging myself badly."

"Then what about this?" Saten asked "I once used an indian poker card that taught olympic long jumping, maybe I could make it? Just barely…"

The record for a middle school girl's long jump was apparently just over six meters. However that was while wearing proper shoes (Saten had sneakers), a flat jumping point (instead of the step up that was on the lip of the roof) and with a well trained body (Not to say Saten's wasn't but she was no olympian).

"Hey…" Saten asked "Are we sure Uiharu is even here?"

Panic was clear in her voice. She was second guessing it now that she'd said it.

"Hey, GV, could you make the jump?" She asked.

GV looked at the wall and hesitated "If I had my powers? Easily. Now though…"

Something seemed to cross Saten's mind and her shaking slowed.

Joule pointed to her climbing gloves expressionlessly and Saten got her meaning and nodded.

GV quickly fetched a rope which they tied around her and allowed to go slack.

Saten then smiled, still with a bit of fear in her eyes and headed to the far side of the roof, slipping the climbing gloves on as she did so.

Saten began running.

It didn't matter if she could, she just knew she would.

Each step brought her closer to the edge.

She didn't know exactly what justice was.

Closer and closer.

But she knew the justice her friends believed in. Kuroko's determination in Judgement and Misaka's willingness to help no matter what.

As she ran, she stepped up onto the lip of the building.

And she understood Uiharu. She worked so hard and even got hurt in seeking her justice. And if someone wanted to use her for evil-

Saten kicked off and hung in the air, carried by her momentum.

Then she'd stop them and pull Uiharu out of their clutches.

She fell too fast to reach the other wall but she slammed her climbing gloves against the wall and they held fast. The sudden shift in momentum hurt her arms but her hands were secured in place firmly.

"Are you okay?" GV asked in a loud whisper.

Saten nodded, not able to turn his way. She breathed in and released one of the gloves from the wall, using all her strength she was able to lift the heavy glove over her head and above the next.

A sheer wall? Who cares about that.

After the glove secured a good grip, she changed to the next, slowly pulling herself up the wall.

Finally she reached the top and attached the rope tightly to the top of the wall using the gloves as an anchor. GV helped Joule across first, anchoring the rope on his end. Once she was safely over with Saten, they both used their weight to anchor the rope as he leaped and climbed the wall.

Now they were all across.

"That was painful." Saten remarked as she rubbed her stomach, or rather her abdominal muscles.

Joule wished she could smile at her friend.

"How do we get in from here?" GV asked, looking over at the cell block in the distance.

Joule made a note and held it up for the both of them.

"How about disguises?"

It feels like events are starting to drag(on) but I wanted to give Saten her cool moment. Luckily a good part of the next few chapters are either from Uiharu's PoV or the villain's flashback so those can be skipped easily enough.
