Thank You for This

Sorry for the delay. My computer wasn't working last week.

Season Three of Boy Meets World. Missing Scene from "I Never Sang for My Legal Gaurdian."

Cory's heart raced along with the taxicab as they drove closer to where Chet Hunter was.

He had to convince his best friend's father to come back, as Shawn's attitude when he realized Chet was giving up on him broke Cory's heart. Mr. Turner was good to Shawn, but he wasn't his father. Why didn't Chet understand that?

"Have you thought about what you're going to say to Mr. Hunter, Cory?" Topanga said, sitting next to him in the backseat of the cab.

Cory sighed. "Somehow, I'll have to explain how much Shawn needs him. I don't want to think of what my life would be like without Dad. And I refuse to let that happen to Shawn, either."

Topanga nodded. "I'm certain you can do it."

Cory smiled at her, relieved that if this must be done, at least she was with him. "Thank you for this." He pointed to her and then gestured around the cab, his meaning clear. It was so wonderful for her to take time out of her evening to come with him, especially as it took time away from her studies.

But Topanga was a wonderful girl.

She shrugged. "This isn't a trip you should have to make alone, Cory. Especially as you wouldn't be able to afford the trip back with just your allowance. And I'm worried about Shawn, too."

Topanga's beauty seemed to explode from her insides at those words, and Cory's own heart almost exploded, too.

His hand itched to feel her long hair beneath his fingers or hold her hand, or even kiss her cheek. But he couldn't because they'd made a mutual agreement to just be friends. Doing so was harder than he'd ever thought it would be, especially as every time he saw Topanga, he only discovered more things wonderful about her.

Like agreeing to come with him tonight right away.

Cory sighed. Next weekend he'd have to find another girl from John Adams High to go out with as he continued his quest to find someone else as great as Topanga.

But tonight, Cory would talk some sense into Chet Hunter. His heart raced again as the taxicab grew closer to their destination.
