B&B OF LOVE AND FUN-38

Hello everyone. Good to be back with you again...This is a late update and only one this week, but recently my life is five minutes late...Once again, I would like to thank Manygreentrees for giving me another wonderful idea for the chapter. I have a will to write, but currently out of ideas, so any help is appreciated. We are coming back from Scotland, to our favorite B&B, to face a little problem, which Elsie (who, else?) will find a solution for...Hope you will like it.

They came back to B&B with mixed emotions. Beryl and Bill were certainly disappointed, that the vacation has ended. Everything about it met their approval. Especially food and dancing part.

Elsie was a little nostalgic when they were going away, she thought, that it was maybe the last time they visited her home country, but as soon as Charles noticed her sadness, he immediately asked about the cause and finding out what was wrong, he solemnly swore, that they will come back to Scotland again, but this time, only the two of them (as he whispered to Elsie's ear).

Charles was happy about the holidays, he liked Scotland, to his own surprise and he felt like he discovered something, that he actually already knew- that Elsie is a perfect woman, in every sense of this word. But he already missed the B&B, their home and their everyday work. He simply couldn't wait to start it all over again...

"Home again at last...I feel like I've been away for months..."-Charles said, when he and Elsie reached their room in the B&B..

"Why do I have a feeling, that I already heard it before coming from you?"

"Oh yes, it's possible that I said it, when we came back from the honeymoon and you my darling were not very pleased about it..."

"How could I be?"

"You know why I said it...Only to hide the fact, that our honeymoon was the most beautiful time of my life..."

"What about now Charles? Did you like Scotland?"

"I did...We will go back there, but this time without Beryl and Bill...We also need to avoid Joe Burns.."

"Why particularly?"

"So my beautiful wife wouldn't have a chance to run away from me..."

"Mmmm..You think that she is planning to do that?"

"You never know my love...You never know.."

Elsie smiled warmly at their little word game...This was the Charles that she loved the most...Funny, relaxed, joking...To bad, that she can't keep him longer...

"All right my love...Back to reality...We need to unpack..."

"Yes my lady...Back to work from tomorrow..."

The next day...

Elsie was just chatting with Katie in the living room, making sure, that everything was slowly coming back to the order...Katie was very happy about her family visit, she was also relaxed, well rested and ready to go back to work...They already had guests scheduled for the next two days...

Bill went out for a moment, to check something on the farm and Charles was in the kitchen with Beryl, where he wanted to discuss some food innovations, that he thought would be good for their B&B...

Everything seemed so quiet and calm, when out of the sudden...

Elsie and Katie heard a wild screams coming from the kitchen...It was Beryl's voice, but Elsie could swear, that she heard Charles screaming too, but she wasn't sure...Their screams were followed by pan noises falling on the floor...

Elsie began to think, that maybe Charles and Beryl had some major argument, or that they are trying to kill themselves...She hurried into the kitchen, followed by Katie...

When she entered there, she saw pretty unusual sight- Beryl was standing on the kitchen stool, while Charles was just climbing on the nearest chair, to also stand on it...Unfortunately, the chair has not been that durable as the stool and it collapsed, causing Charles to hit on the floor...

"Did it run away? Did you hit it? Where is it?"-Beryl was completely terrified...

"Charles, oh my God, have you hurt yourself? Is everything all right?"

"I'm fine...It's just that...Where is she? Did I hit her?"

"Charles, what are you talking about? Where is who?"

"The mouse...We have a mouse here...She was just in the kitchen..."-Charles was pale as a ghost...

"A mouse? Really? All this confusion is because of a mouse?"-Elsie was trying to be serious, but she simply couldn't stop herself from laughing...She sat on the nearest chair, laughing so loudly, that she had to hold her stomach...

Katie was also giggling, standing at the door...Beryl and Charles were looking at them clearly insulted.. They couldn't understand the absurdity of the situation...

Later, at dinner time...

"We need to set mouse trap and that's that...I see no other solution..."-Bill was decisive about the situation...

"But it will kill the mouse?"-Katie suddenly became pale...

"Of course...That's precisely the point of it..."-Beryl was annoyed..."We can't have mouse in our kitchen...You know what people would say?"

"Well Beryl, we are not going to announce it in the local paper and calm down you two..."-Elsie addressed Beryl and Charles..."It's pointless to have a heart attack, because of the mouse..."

"I wish I was there to see it..."-Bill grinned in Elsie's direction...

"You definitely should...It was worth to see...But no, the trap is not the solution...I will deal with this problem, leave it to me..."

"How? What are you going to do Elsie?"-Beryl was curious...

"You will see..."

"Whatever you will do, better do it quick please..."-Charles was still shaken...

"It will be all solved tomorrow...I promise..."

Later, in the bedroom...

"That's not funny Elsie...Please stop..."-Charles was red in the face because all evening long, whenever Elsie was looking at him, she was bursting with laughter...

"I'm sorry Charles...But it was funny...A big, strong man like you, being afraid of a little mouse...Ha, ha, ha! Last time, I promise..."

But Charles had enough...He closed his book loudly and turned on the other side of the bed, showing Elsie his back...

Elsie felt, that she really hurt his male pride...She nestled into his back, embracing him around his tummy and placed few sweet kisses in his hair...

"I'm sorry Charlie...Didn't mean to upset you..."

"But you did Elsie...It's not nice to know, that your wife thinks of you as a wimp"

"You know that I do not...I know that you are a real man...My big, strong man...You proved it more than once to me...In different situations..."

Charles turned again, facing Elsie...

"Did I indeed? Well...Maybe it's time for another proof..."

"Maybe it is..."-Elsie looked at him seductively...

"Els...Just promise please, that you will find a solution for that..."

"Cross my heart...I already know a solution..."

"What's that?"

"Let me have some mystery from time to time Mr Carson...Now, where were we? I believe, that you were trying to show me, that you are my big, strong man?"

"Oh yes...Come here sweetie..."

The next day...

Charles, Bill, Beryl and even Katie, were standing in the kitchen, looking like the pillars of salt, from the very moment, when Elsie came back from the village, with a basket and she opened it, to show them it's content...

The content of the basket was ginger, four legged, furry and fluffy little kitten...

"Everyone please meet Oliver...He is our new roommate. His job will be to keep us away from the mouse...What do you think?"

After a moment of silence, there was an avalanche of questions, doubts and other things, that Elsie was patiently answering, for the next hour...She finally managed to convince the whole crew, that Oliver was a good idea and that they should give him a chance...

A little while later...

"Elsie, you have brilliant ideas...Always...But a cat? Where did it come from?"-Charles was inquisitive...

"Well, for starters, cats are proven very effective when it comes to mice...Plus I always loved cats...I wanted one, ever since I was a little girl, but there was never a good moment, so now it was time to combine pleasure with utility..."

"You and your Scottish pragmatism..."

"You love it, admit it Charlie..."

"Well, I do...But I certainly don't love cats..."

"But you are going to love this one...It's our cat...Our Oliver..."

"Yeah, about that...Why Oliver?"

"Oh Charlie, it's sort of a prank...Don't you remember?"

"Remember what?"

"When we had our famous conversation about marital duties in our future marriage...Remember? I told you, that if you want me, you can have me, to quote Oliver Cromwell, warts and all..."

"Oh yes..I do now...Els...You really have a brilliant mind..."

"Flatterer! You already said it once...Now think Charlie, how lovely it will be...We will call our kitty Oliver, knowing what special meaning it has for both of us, but only for us, nobody else will know..."

"Yes...I love it...Welcome home Oliver!"

That's all for this chapter my dear people...Hope you liked it...I love cats, so I think that Oliver will be an important part of the B&B from now on. Once again thanks for the idea and have a wonderful week.
