B&B OF LOVE AND FUN-42

Hi everyone. After a break I decided to go back to our favorite B , which is now a really long story, but I hope you don't mind. This is going to be one of those joyful, not very eventful chapters. Just full of love and good emotions. I decided that such chapter is perfect to end the glorious summer that we had. Hope you will like it ;-)

Elsie, Beryl and Katie were having a day of hard work in the kitchen. Using a rare break between the guests, they decided to make jams for winter, from the fruits, that their men were so willingly picking up in the forest, usually when they were coming back from their fishing trips.

Beryl and Katie were skilled in this area, but Elsie was still learning how to be more useful in the kitchen.

To take a little break from their work, they were playing with Oliver, using a piece of string, to which they've attached a toy mouse, bought at the store. Beryl once found it among toy section at Mr Bakewell's grocery store and now it was used daily to entertain the cat.

Oliver was still a favorite among the B ladies, while the gents were barely tolerating him and only accepting him, because of the good work that he was doing, to keep the mice away from the house and the kitchen.

Charles and Bill noticed how the ladies adored Oliver and they were a tad jealous and often making jokes between themselves regarding the cat.

"Only five jars? Are you sure that this will be enough for the winter? I remember that wild berry jam was very popular among our guests last winter. Maybe we should pick up some more of it?"-Elsie frowned her nose, as always, when she was displeased about something.

"You are right Elsie. We definitely need more. Do you think that can persuade our gents to get some more this afternoon?"

"I don't think that they are going fishing today, Bill mentioned something about helping Andy with the pigs, remember?"

"I totally forgot Elsie..."

"That's ok Beryl. I will take a walk this afternoon and pick some more, so we can finish it tomorrow. Thank you for showing me your secret, of how to make jam."

"You are very welcome Elsie. I have to say, that you are really making progress in the kitchen. Few more months and you won't need me here anymore."

"We will always need you Beryl. You are essential to us"

"Nice to know that. Katie, what are you doing with Oli?"

"I'm checking how far he can jump. Just look at him...He wants to catch that mouse and he is jumping so high"

"He is so smart, our little Oli...Yesteday, when I brought the meat from Mr Bakewell's shop, he was by my side all the time, looking at me with this green eyes of his...I simply could not resist it and had to give him some meat..."-Beryl said, looking at the cat with a warm smile...

"Who could resist our sweet, little Oliver? He is the most handsome man in this house..."-Elsie petted his little had, while Oli was purring with satisfaction...

"Ehmmmm..."-loud voice of Charles made Beryl and Elsie turn their heads to the door, where Charles was standing in the doorway-"I can see that you are spoiling Oliver again..."

"Of course we are...He is doing such a great job, he deserves to be spoiled. You have to admit, that he is the sweetest cat in the world Charles?"

"He is doing a good job and that's all I can say...I'm not a great fan of cats..."

"How can you not be? How is that even possible?"

"Well if you ask Elsie, I prefer dogs...They are more my type- well behaved, listening to orders. Cats are too independent...I prefer creatures who are more obedient..."-Charles expressed his views, feeling, that it won't be received well with the audience he had...

"In that case Charles, how is it possible that you are married to Elsie?"-Beryl joked"-she is as far from obedient as anyone can be"

"That's simple Beryl...I'm married to Elsie, because she is the best wife in the world..."-Charles's face lighten up with a smile...

"Finally Charlie, you are making some sense with your comments...If I'm the best wife in the world, then perhaps you would like to accompany me to the forest this afternoon, to pick some more wild berries? We don't have enough jars of jams for winter..."

"I will be more than glad to do it...Bill is busy with pigs, so we are not going fishing today..."

"Then it's settled...You two will go to the forest and I will have some nice, afternoon nap"-Beryl seemed to be pleased about her afternoon plans...

"And everyone will be happy"-Elsie smiled to her friend...

Later, in the afternoon...

"I love this path leading to the forest...It's so peaceful and quiet..."-Elsie was clearly enjoying their walk...What are you thinking about so intensly Charlie?"

"I was wondering, how will we manage next week with all those guests that we are expecting... Things will be pretty hectic..."

"Don't think about that now Charlie...Let's just enjoy this afternoon together...Are you ok with that my handsome husband?"-Elsie climbed to her toes, to give Charles a sweet kiss...

"I'm more than ok with that my love...It's just now I know, that I'm no longer the most handsome man in our B "

"What do you mean?"

"Well, I heard you and Beryl saying, that Oliver is the most handsome one in our house..."

"We were just kidding...Oliver is the most handsome cat, but in human terms, nobody equals to you Charlie..."

"That's better Elsie...Now let's get some wild berries, we need to fill that basket..."

This part of the forest was exceptionally rich, when it came to the wild berries and the basket was being filled pretty quickly...When they were almost finishing, suddenly Elsie heard some noise in the bushes, to her and Charles's amazement, they saw a little, cute puppy, coming their way, waggling a tail...He seemed to be very lost and rather hungry...

"Look Charlie, a puppy...He is lost...And probably hungry...Oh, we need to take him home and feed him..."

"Elsie, we can't take him home...What if he belongs to someone...?"

"I don't think so...Maybe he was lost, or worst-he was abandoned by someone? He looks like he hasn't eaten for a long time...We need to take care of him..."

"But if someone is looking for him?"

"We will get an advertisment, looking for his owners, but for now, we need to take him home...We can't leave him alone in the forest..."

"I wonder how will Oliver feel about it?"-Charles joked

"He will have to get use to it..Besides Charles, you mentioned that you wanted a dog? Well now is your chance to have one...Come on boy...Come on"-Elsie said to a puppy, who wasn't going to let them go, he was more than willing to follow them...Elsie was petting his head from time to time and the puppy was looking at her with adoration in his eyes...

Charles's heart melted too, seeing how the puppy reacted to their presence and he slowly started to get used to the thought, that they will have a new companion...

That's all for this one. As I told you, nothing complicated, just a nice adventure of our favorites. Since they already have Oli, I thought a dog would be a nice addition...Anyway, I hope you liked it a bit, because I had a good time writing it. Thanks for reading and have a great week!
