Chapter 18: Cream
Sesshoumaru landed just outside the border of the forest that Bokusenou called home, always choosing to enter the sanctuary on foot out of respect for his father's venerable ally. One did not just waltz into Bokusenou's home without reverence; his roots ran deep, and consequences were often far reaching.
The forest wherein Bokusenou resided was nearly as old as the hounokiyoukai himself. The canopy was tall but dense, casting dark shadows as lord and retainer journeyed ever deeper through the woods into the heart of it.
Strolling at his signature measured pace, Sesshoumaru allowed his mind to wander. What would he ask of Bokusenou? What advice could the elderly youkai possibly provide in his circumstance? He knew that he wished to spend more time with the miko, but to what end? Clearly, he had been curious about her since her first appearance at his brother's side; but was there more to it than that? Did he wish for more than just her occasional companionship? And if he did, what would he do with regards to his brother and his obvious claim to the female?
Recalling his last visit to Edo village, he knew that Inuyasha was already suspicious of his intentions towards his betrothed. Why they hadn't mated yet, Sesshoumaru could only speculate. It had been nearly two years since her reappearance, yet they still had not consummated anything. It was not as though either of them were too young. He, himself, could smell the miko's fertility whenever he was near.
An image suddenly flashed across Sesshoumaru's mind's eye–the miko splayed across dark silk, creamy skin bared, dewy-eyed and pleading–causing the great and terrible Killing Perfection to uncharacteristically stumble into a tree.
—
hounokiyoukai - magnolia tree youkai (I don't know if this is an actual Japanese word, but I combined youkai with hounoki for magnolia, since Bokusenou is a magnolia tree).
Props to anyone who caught the LotR meme reference!
