Hello, and welcome to chapter 7 of Digimon Frontier watching Spirited Away.
This isn't going to be a long chapter, but it's still a chapter. I don't want to hear any complaints about how short the chapter is, I'm doing the best that I can, and I am finally breaking free from my little depression and enjoying life around me.
Chapter 7
[Procession of the Spirits]
Woman and Chihiro walk through the storage room.
Woman: We have to go all the way to the top floor, that's where Yubaba lives.
Kouji "Figures. The boss's room would always be at the very top."
The lady looks around to see if the close is clear before signaling Chihiro to follow her.
Chihiro looks up to see gears turning and chains pulling up all the elevators in the bathhouse.
Everyone was at a loss for words.
The sheer size of the bathhouse was huge, but seeing it from the inside was way bigger than they expected it to be.
J.P. "This is bigger than any bathhouse I've ever been to."
Takuya "Just how many floors are there?"
Woman (Off-Screen): Get over here!
Chihiro quickly obeys and runs to the woman to the elevator as the Woman pulls the lever for them to go up she nods to Chihiro putting her face way too close to the walls.
Woman: You wanna lose your nose?
Chihiro promptly jumped away from the edge. Not wanting her nose to be scraped off.
Tommy flinches a little while covering his nose with his hands in fear that he might lose it.
When the elevator stopped, the woman and Chihiro got off and quickly and quietly ran to find another that would take them higher up. Passing all the employees making food for their guests and delivering it to them.
J.P. "Again with the food!"
Zoe "Let it go, J.P."
As luck would have it, an elevator stops at their floor and another woman gets off of it. Not wanting to waste any time, the woman and Chihiro ran into the lift, got on, and headed up.
Lin: We're halfway there, just say close.
Chihiro: 'Kay.
Chihiro then notices some gaps in the outer wall and looks out to see steam and silhouettes of spirits in bathtubs.
Kouji "Looks like they made it to the baths level."
Woman: Here we go.
Snapping out of her gaze, Chihiro looks over the lady's side to be ready to leave. But as the elevator stops they are greeted to see a large strange creature with squinty eyes, a soup bowl as a hat, a red loincloth, pale skin, and face and body looking like a vegetable.
Woman: The Radish Spirit!
Everyone "A radish spirit?"
Jane "Why not? There are spirits for everything, right?"
Kouji "Yeah, that's true I guess."
Takuya "Can't argue with that."
The large Radish Spirit let out some moans and groans as he pointed his little finger-like roots up to the air. Asking if he can take this lift.
Woman: Sorry sir, this elevator doesn't go any higher. You'll have to take another one. Thank you.
In the background, you can see two Kasuga-Sama in a room while one of them is fanning themselves, and on the left is a small group of Ōtori-Samas having a fun time while having a meal.
Tommy "So this isn't just a bathhouse, but an inn too?"
J.P. "Yubaba might be a witch, but she does know how to make a business."
As Lin and Chihiro get off the elevator and head to find another one, the Radish Spirit follows them. Chihiro couldn't help but look back at the spirit following them across a narrow bridge that went over the bathtubs down below.
The camera pans down to show multiple baths, all being occupied by spirits. One was relaxing as the workers scrubbed his hands and feet.
The camera cuts to many Ōtori-Samas gathered in one bath chamber all piled in all the bathtubs, and another scrubbing soap onto itself, and one of them lets out a squeak bleep sound.
Zoe "I don't know why, but those yellow chicks sounded cute."
Takuya "They got to be Ōtori-Samas."
Neemon "What are they?"
Kouji "They're spirits resembling giant chickens or ducks."
Jane "Fun fact: They were spirits of deceased baby chickens that eventually became gods and served a greeter deity named Ōtori."
Bokomon "My word, the spirits of the human world are truly fascinating."
J.P. "Yeah, until you angered one. Then you're doomed."
Cut back to the Woman and Chihiro making it across the bridge, while the Radish Spirit still follows.
Chihiro: He's following us.
Woman: Just don't look at him.
They made it to the elevator, with the Radish Spirit standing close to them as they waited for the elevator.
Hearing the elevator approaching, the two glance at the doors. When the elevator doors open, three Ushioni step out as another frog spirit worker guides them.
Frog Spirit Worker: Step out to the right, gentlemen.
Chihiro let out a silent gasp as the Woman shielded her away from her coworker's line of sight.
Frog Spirit Worker: Your rooms are right this way.
The Frog Spirit Worker stops to smell something in the air, he turns around back to the elevator.
Frog Spirit Worker: Hmm, Lin?
Everyone cried, "Don't find Chihiro!"
The woman, Lin, turns while pushing Chihiro onto the elevator. Just in time, as the Radish Spirit got on before the Frog could see her.
Lin: Whaaat?
Everyone let out a sigh of relief.
Frog Spirit Worker: What's that smell?
The Frog Spirit Worker sniffs the air again.
Frog Spirit Worker: It's human! You smell just like a human!
Lin: Oh really?
Everyone suck in a breath, realizing that Chihiro is not out of the woods just yet.
Everyone, 'Let's hope Chihiro can escape without getting caught, or Lin selling her out.'
The Radish Spirit walks around the lift to face the door, while keeping Chihiro out of sight.
Frog Spirit Worker (Off-screen): Where's it coming from, Lin? Come on.
Frog Spirit Worker: You're hiding something, aren't you?
The Frog Spirit Worker sniffs the air again.
Frog Spirit Worker: Show it to me.
Lin then pulls out the roasted newt she got from Kamaji in front of the employee's face.
Lin: Is this what you smell?
The camera cuts to the Spirit Fog's face staring at the roasted newt in Lin's hand as sweat drips down from his body.
Frog Spirit Worker: Roasted… NEWT!
Quick on her reflex, Lin holds up the roasted newt above the frog worker's head. Out of reach.
Lin: No way, frog. I'm saving every last bite for myself.
Frog Spirit Worker: Please, just a little bit, just give me a leg.
Everyone let out a sigh of relief once again, but let out a small laugh at the frog spirit literally hopping for the roasted newt.
Takuya "Man, who would have thought that a roasted newt would be such a treat for the spirits."
While Lin has the frog spirit distracted, she calls out to the Radish Spirit and Chihiro.
Lin: If you wanna go up. Pull the lever on your right!
The Radish Spirit let out a grumble as he nodded his head in understanding.
Frog Spirit Worker (Off-screen): Gimme, gimme, gimme, how could you be so cruel? Can't you share?
Chihiro squeezes herself out from behind the spirit's body and manages to pull down the lever. Causing the doors to close and head up.
Frog Spirit Worker (Off-screen): Let me suck on the tail, please! Let me just…
Hearing the lift being activated, Lin shoves the roasted newt into her mouth and eats it in front of the now-devastated frog with a smile.
Everyone made grim, disgusted expressions.
J.P. "I can't believe she ate it."
Tommy "I think I'm going to be sick."
Takuya "Just what kind of spirit is she anyway?"
Jane "Lin is a fox spirit."
Kouji "That kind of explains it."
Zoe "She does give off the description of fox spirit in human form from her appearance."
Bokomon "Well aside from the spirits, I must admit that the bathhouse is stunning. Makes me wish for one just like this in the digital world."
Neemon "A good swim with a rubber ducky!"
J.P. "Just thinking about soaking in a hot warm bath sounds good right about now."
Tommy "Yeah."
Zoe "Same here."
Takuya "No complaints here."
Kouji "Agree."
That's it for chapter 7, the next one will be a longer one and a somewhat scary one too. I mean, you get to meet Yubaba.
How do you guys think the Digidestin will react to seeing Yubaba? Scared? Frighten? Wishing they were somewhere else? Or all the above?
Only time will tell.
Until then, see ya later.
