Chapter- 2
It didn't feel right to bring Teddy to Grimmauld place.. the stench of past lingering in the air. Harry made a mental note to get on with their house hunt as soon as he was free. As they entered, Harry took Teddy in his arms and he quieted down instantly. His breathing was still ragged and his eyes, now green, where shining. But the unrelenting flow of tears had ceased. His hair turned jet black to match Harry's. It was rather cute and Ginny was impressed by how easily Harry had pacified him. She knew better than to feel jealous, afterall Harry had held him before at Andromeda's and she was a complete stranger to Ted.
In all his years at hogwarts he had learnt a lot, except for how to take care of a baby. It was beyond fulfilling to just hold Teddy and give him everything he (Harry) never had. He told himself he would figure it out. He loved his godson deeply, infact Ted was as good as a son for him. He wondered how his life would have been like if Sirius was never sent to Azkaban. He was determined to be the godfather that Sirius never got the chance to be. He still couldn't comprehend the fact that he was a father now. Sweet Merlin!
Teddy was a rebellious baby. Harry and Ginny had to give him a wand show to get him to eat crushed fruit. He squealed in delight everytime their wand produced rainbow sparks. His hair changed so fast, to the naked eye all those colors blended into one another that it looked like a rainbow too. Harry thought his Teddy was the smartest kid on the face of earth.
After getting him to eat enough, Ginny took him upstairs for a bath. They had bought some stuffed animals for him, and Ted liked wolfie the best (Harry and Ginny exchanged a sad look at that). Ted took his wolf into the bathtub. Ginny tried to pry it out of his tiny hands so it wouldn't get wet, but it was a lost cause. He giggled as he burst the soapy bubbles with his index finger. Ginny scrubbed him all over which was a task made difficult by the fact that Ted was adamant to move his limbs as much as possible for a baby. Harry watched in amusement leaning against the bathroom door frame with his arms crossed. Ginny expressed that atleast Ted was excited to bathe.. many kids have to be dragged to the bathtub.
As soon as he was pulled out of the water and wrapped in a soft comfy towel, he took off pitter-pattering with his small feet, leaving footprints in his wake. Harry made to chase him and caught up after a few steps. Harry easily scooped him up and started tickling his tummy. The laughter that proceeded it was heavenly to Harry's ears. He fell in love all over again with his godson.
After getting him dressed in a soft comfortable onesie, patterned with hippogriffs, he didn't have to be told twice to go to bed, which Harry noted was probably because he was exhausted. Harry himself yawned.. it had been a long day. As they tucked him in bed, Teddy spoke for the first time during that day, "Stowy! Want stowy!" The glimmer in his eyes was priceless.. it reeked of innocence and childish happiness. Both of their hearts melted at that. Prepared for this occasion, they had bought some childrens' books along with baby clothes and a crib (in which he was sleeping right now). Ginny showed him all the books to let him pick his choice. Teddy pointed to the one with an orange cover and his hair changed to orange at once, "This one!". Harry and Ginny sat on either side of him and enacted as two characters in the book. Teddy was particularly interested in the pictures.. his eyes went wide everytime something major happened, he was fully engrossed in it. By the end, he was semi-conscious and then completely drifted off as if flying through the realms of mind. "Sweet dreams Tedster", Harry whispered and kissed his head. They placed the baby monitor (Ginny was amused by what these muggles came up with.. amused and impressed to be precise) and left the room after switching off the lights.
Every morning Harry would drop Teddy off at the Burrow. Molly and Arthur would take care of him until Harry and Ginny came back from work and took him home again. Teddy seemed to love playing with his god-grandparents. Arthur brought him a toy model of the firebolt, and it soon became Teddy's favorite toy apart from wolfie. It hovered a few feet above the ground and he would zoom around the house on it, knocking things off. He had certainly inherited Dora's clumsiness, and it reminded Molly strongly of how she used to be exasperated with Tonks.
"Gwandma whev is my woofie?". Molly and Teddy were in the Wizarding park nearest to the Burrow. After the war, as a tribute to a new beginning, the ministry had built government parks all over Europe. There were all sorts of magical play-things that kept the kids entertained and also made a nice relaxing place for their parents. Currently though, Teddy was not particularly happy. He had left his stuffed wolf somewhere and Molly was growing anxious as she sensed a tantrum on its way. Teddy was really sweet and cute most of the time, but losing his best toy wasn't going to sit well with him and Molly couldn't blame him. Suddenly Molly realised she was a witch, "Accio wolfie". It zoomed straight into Ted's outstretched arm as they reunited once more. "I am sowy woofi. I wiv never weave you again. I wove you", and he hugged the toy tightly. Molly had a sudden mental image of Remus hugging Teddy and telling him he would always love him. It brought tears to her eyes and she buried her face in a handkerchief. Molly had been really close with Andromeda too so her death had come as a blow to her chest on top of losing so many other people.
