CHAPTER 2
"Nik! Get out here and tell me what you have done with our brother, you narcissistic, back-stabbing wanker!"
Klaus opened a pair of doors and entered the room.
"Enough with all the shouting, Little sister. What do you want?"
"Elijah doesn't welch on deals. What did you do to him?"
"Perhaps he's on holiday... or taking a long autumn nap upstairs. Well, go on. Take a look around. If you find him, let me know."
Klaus was about to leave, when Rebekah asked, "What about your little obsession, Caroline Forbes? Elijah told me that witches held her captive along with the wolf-girl. Did you already sent her back to Mystic Falls?"
Klaus eyes narrow at Rebekah and for a moment he considered telling Rebekah the truth, but then opted for vague, "Well, she's not here, is she?"
Then Klaus left with saying final words to Rebekah at the door, smirking, "Oh, and welcome home, little sister."
Rebekah just rolled her eyes.
"I don't know about Elijah, but I can't tell you where Caroline is?" Hayley asked, standing up from sitting on the stairs.
"Where?" Rebekah asked intrigued.
"The witches are keeping her at the Lafayette Cemetery until Klaus takes out Marcel."
Rebekah scoffed, "Huh? So baby isn't Klaus real motivator here? It's still her, Caroline Forbes."
While Sophie and Rebekah walked to the Lafayette cemetery, they talked about why witches of New Orleans can't do magic and why can't run away either.
"So, you are stuck here. Living under Marcel' thumb." Rebekah concluded as they arrived at the gate. Caroline was already waiting at the other side of the gate.
"Leave us." Rebekah told Sophie.
Sophie went inside the cemetery and walked off, but not before saying sarcastically, "Yes, Your Highness."
Caroline and Rebekah stared at each other for a while and then Rebekah said, "Quite the predicament you found yourself in. Tell me, do you have a plan to get out or are you relying on Klaus to save you like always."
"Well, it was always good times back at Mystic Falls." Caroline retorted and Rebekah decided to let this on go. "Rebekah, how are Klaus and Elijah? I'm worried that Klaus will do something stupid now?"
Rebekah considered this and then replied, "I'm afraid Nik has already done something stupid as I can't find Elijah. He completely MIA."
"You think Klaus daggered Elijah?"
"His casket was missing from the house so I'm pretty sure he's taken Elijah out of the playing field."
Caroline started worrying about both Elijah and Klaus. She was worried that Klaus would do something Klaus-like just because he was threatened. She didn't think it had much to do with the fact that it was her who had been taken, more like Klaus didn't like feeling pressured and cornered.
"And this one – I'm gonna drain him of vervain, compel him to believe his mates found religion and moved to Utah, so that he can explain to Marcel why he lost three more vampires tonight." Klaus dragged a vampire inside the house. "And last but not least. Elijah, you are so worried about, is with Marcel right now."
"What are you talking about?" Rebekah asked in confusion.
"Marcel was nervous about another Original arriving to town so me and Elijah, we formed a plan. I would deliver Elijah in a casket, make Marcel trust me and then I could finally find out about how Marcel controls the witches, what's his secret."
Klaus looked at Rebekah finally getting it.
"You see, I left the dagger a slightly out of Elijah, which allows Elijah's mind to run free while his body is incapacitated. He'll gather as much information about Marcel as possible, so when I get him free, we actually have something concrete."
Rebekah is taken aback. "Wow, that's actually a really good plan."
"Good, does anyone have any more questions? No? Good, because I have a question. Hayley, what were you doing in the bloody French Quarter in the first place?" Klaus asked her and when she didn't reply, he shouted, "ANSWER ME!"
"Leave her be." Rebekah told her brother.
"You wanna know what I was doing? I was buying poison, so I could put your little baby out of its misery." Hayley defied him openly.
Klaus ran at her with vampire speed and pinned her to the door by the neck. She gasped for air.
"Nik! NIK!" Rebekah yelled.
Rebekah flashed to Klaus, pushed him off of Hayley and grabbed him by the shoulders.
"Keep your hands off her! She is pregnant, for God's sake! All of this bluster about not wanting the child, and then the second she tells you she's ready to get rid of it, you want to beat her to pulp?"
Klaus calmed down.
"Fine. I am executing our plan the only way I know how. If you don't like it, there's the door. See if I care." He told Rebekah and left her alone with Hayley.
But Rebekah followed Klaus to his study and said, "Let me help?"
Klaus was waiting for Caroline at the gate. He had come and yelled for the witches to get Caroline because he needed to talk to her. Now she walked toward the gate and when he reached it, Klaus finally got to see her up front.
She was a mess. But even though she needed a shower and change of clothes, she was still the most beautiful creature he had ever seen.
"Hello, love." He said and looked worried to Caroline.
"Hi, Klaus."
"Are you okay? How are they treating you here?"
"Well, most of the time I spend in the that big mausoleum at the heart of the Cemetery, chained to the wall. I don't get out much."
Seeing Klaus' eyes narrow in rage, she quickly did some damage control, "It's not as bad as it sounds. I get plenty of blood and food and at least I can't put myself in any more danger than I already am."
"You getting kidnapped by these witches, that should never had happened to you and they will be punished."
"Don't kill anyone for me," She smiled sheepishly.
"Oh, I'll kill several somebodies, everyone who had any part in taking you and Hayley."
"Still no word from Elijah?"
Klaus zoned in on Caroline, his facial expression showing that he was surprised that Caroline would already know about it.
"Elijah has his work cut out for him."
Caroline started to say something, but Klaus stopped her, "Don't worry, love, I have everything under control."
"Okay, I won't worry about Elijah if you promise not to worry about me." But Caroline knew he couldn't help it.
"Caroline."
"Klaus. Please don't do anything reckless for me."
"I'm executing a well laid out plan, I don't plan on getting reckless." Klaus was amused.
"Good." He smiled and he smiled a little back.
Rebekah came back to the house and told Klaus what she found out.
"You were right. The girl, Cami – she's the key. Marcel likes her, and because of that I got to see the secret weapon of his that you've been going on about."
"Well, don't stand on ceremony. What is it?" Klaus demanded that Rebekah went straight to the point.
"It's not a 'what', it's a 'who'. A girl, Davina. She can't be more than sixteen, and I have never felt power like that."
"A witch." He muttered.
"She's not just any witch, she's something I've never seen before, something beyond powerful. And now thanks to your scheming, she has Elijah and god knows what she could do to him."
"Elijah will be fine. He's still unkillable, no matter how powerful this witch is." Klaus tried to play it cool. Not show that he was worried for his brother.
But Rebekah saw that it was just an act.
"I am going to find Elijah and get him back home. Are you going to help me?"
"Whatever it takes." He promised solemnly.
