Damon and Bonnie went about their typical morning: coffee and pancakes. The only exception was Kai, who was now at the table, chatting up a storm and being what they both assumed was his usual annoying and intrusive self.
Everything was as natural as it could be because they had planned it that way. However, as they ate and entertained, Bonnie and Damon silently debated, passing quick, meaningful glances and sending hints through the crossword.
They had discovered the truth about Kai—Damon from the morning paper, Bonnie through Grams' grimoire—and were now silently devising a plan to kill him.
