Hello again! It's only been a few hours, but I've already got the second chapter finished! Btw, Did y'all guess who the guy with the blue beret was? If you guessed Georgie, you'd be correct! You might be asking, why a blue beret and not a hat? Well, let's take the skin of Officer Doggy and Poley. They wear hats, right? Police hats, but hats. Zizzy? She has a hat. Mr P? Hat. The design of Georgie's was TOTALLY different. It's not a beanie either! Pony and the infected crew of chapter 8 book 2 proves it! So, it's a beret. Also, I've added a new category of communication, just because it's convenient.
Anyway, I'm on a rant, so let's just begin.
Liara was Intrigued. The creature infront of her couldn't be older than a few centuries old, maybe8 or 10, if based on the lifespan of an Asari. In other words, an infant. Reason being: it's size compared to the building style. If Liara had to go by the assumption that this specie builds their structure based on the general size of their adults, then it wouldn't make sense that this one is so small.
'Fascinating!' Mordin said, his omni-tool's light illuminating his face in the obscure room. The atmosphere had been scanned only a few moments after the landing, and so he wasn't wearing a breathing apparatus, or more commonly known as an oxygen-mask. He was currently examining the child, which had been put on what was immediately recognized by the crew as an table. It's skin color was pink, it had four fingers and wore blue clothes. If she had to guess, the blue piece of clothing they found next to him was meant to be worn on it's head. It even has two holes which would match perfectly with it's hearing organs, for lack of a better term. It obviously heard them arriving, and it wouldn't make sense for this specie to make the clothing they found next to him if it wasn't for hearing.
Liara, at his voice, was dragged out of her thoughts. She looked at Mordin, raising a brow. 'Found something, Mordin?' she asked, her voice inquisitive.
'YesIsuredid! Thiskid'sinjuriesarehealingincrediblyfast! Itcouldmeanit'sspeciehas-!' Mordin started, talking as fast as ever.
'Slowly, please? Some of us don't speak Salarian speed.' Garrus walked in, his gun held low.
'And I would like not to have a headache today, please' that was Tali, who was busy in the other side of the room, making sure the generator they brought worked properly before activating it.
Modin took a second, grumbled something inaudible, then spoke with evident effort to make his speech slower, with obvious frustration'I was saying that this child-' Liara sighed internally, happy that the scientist of the group came to the same conclusion as her toward the being's young age '-healed from the injury Garrus inflicted upon it-' at that, Liara noticed that Tali spared an frustrated glance toward him, likely due to the fact that when she had noticed the being, she understood quickly that it was scared. She tried appeasing it. Then Garrus knocked it unconscious, likely thinking that it was taking too much time. '-incredibly quickly-' that got everyone to focus back on the topic at hand '-for it's age. On the basis that it is a child, then it could mean one oftwo things. -' now they were really intrigued '-One, that this specie heals Incredibly fast, similar to an Krogan-' collective shudders from the other members of the group '-or two, this specimen-' Liara and Tali both emitted frustrated grumbles at Mordin obsession to calling it a specimen '-is affected by something. Be it a disease, a mutation, or Eezo, it's too soon to tell.' Mordin then stopped reading on his omni-tool and looked at Garrus. 'You're lucky it's still alive. If it's craniumwas less developed, it could've theoretically died from the force of the punch. I would've lost a great specimen.'
Tali grumbled something, but let it go with a sigh before turning to Garrus.'Anything out there? Because with this infant right there-' she points to the kid '- there might be a whole group in the area.'
'No, absolutely nothing.' Garrus replied 'the security team have a perimeter already up and running. It wasn't difficult, there was only one road to worry about, and they set up barricades for the alleyways.'
'Kind of surprised this place isn't falling apart! Have you seen the state of the infrastructure? Whoever created this place certainly knew what they were doing!' Tali chipped in.
'And that's not all! Apparently, the security team inspected what was supposedly a ground vehicule's battery. They said that-' Garrus was interrupted by a faint noise, barely a whisper. Everyone turned their gazes to the being on the table. They watched as the child started to sit up, taking it's hand to it's head as if to numb the pain it was experiencing. It took everyone by surprise when it opened it's eyes.
'Mordin, are their eyes supposed to glow?' Liara whispered. Unfortunately, it wasn't low enough, as the kid's eyes darted toward her. He started trembling, even though it was subtle.
Liara started forward, slowly, so as not to scare even more the child infront of her. The kid's focus wasn't fully on her as she walked towards him, as if he couldn't she was only two feets from it, she spoke gently 'hello, little one.' This caused the child's eye to immediately stop glowing and fully focus on her, as if he was woken up from a trance. Liara took notice of it, but didn't care so much as of yet, unlike the others, specifically Mordin, who found it very interesting.
'Mordin, is it's head fully healed?' Liara asked, the others not immediately catching on to her intentions.
'Yes, it should be.' Mordin said, not forgetting to speak slowly for the others.
'Good.' was the only word Liara said before she grabbed the kid's head to start a meld.
Liara, strangely, was brought to a place with multiple purple circles flying around. The kid was in the middle of the dome formed of purple circle, with glowing orange eyes with black pupils, clearly panicking. She heard a voice that confirmed her suspicions that the being was young.
'No no no! Not here again!'
Hearing those words were... concerning, for Liara. The words she heard would mean that not only did he know what was happening, but that it had happened before.
'Hello?' Liara temptatively said, causing the child to jump.
'Huh?! Who're you? What do you want?!' This response made her consider her choice of words. She sighed,
'My name is Liara. You are?' she said simply, trying to calm him down.
It kind of worked, because his fear was reduced by a growing confusion, which was mirrored by his response. '... M-my name is Georgie'
Liara smiled.
After half an hour in his mind, Liara managed to get Georgie to open up to her, allowing her to learn of the language and the culture of this planet's species. Interestingly enough, it seemed as if there was more than one intelligent race on this planet. She didn't probe him, but she did make a note to ask later. Finally, after she learned everything she needed, she stopped the melding.
Again, I'm keeping it short. There's also no real need to explain the melding to a kid, sooooooo... anyway, to the next one!
