Day 2 - Paparazzi
"And you're sure these outfits will keep us disguised?" Serena attempted to confirm.
She and Ash were getting ready to go on a date, but since she is the Kalos Queen and Ash was the Pokemon Monarch, the press was taking every opportunity they could get to ask them a ton of questions. Including questions about their relationship. And today they just wanted to enjoy a date without anyone getting in the way of them being in each other's company.
So they reached out to some friends who knew a thing or two about fashion in hopes of getting some outfits that would make it so that you couldn't tell who the two lovers were.
"No need to worry. May and I designed them ourselves. Nobody will know it's you two." Dawn assured.
"Yup. You'll be able to enjoy your date without so much as a single interviewer pestering you." May added on.
"I don't mean to make it sound like we don't trust you, but it is a little odd that these outfits have to be worn as a layer over our regular outfits." Ash pointed out.
"Oh! That's just part of how these disguises work so well. It's needed for the…..structural integrity!" Dawn attempted to reassure, but she sounded a little nervous.
"I've never heard of anything like that before, but if you say so." Serena said.
"Trust us, they'll work out great. Besides, where else are you going to get disguises on such short notice?" May stated her case.
"Yeah, you have a point there. In any case, shall we get going Serena?" Ash asked his girlfriend with a smile.
"Yes. We shall. Thanks for helping us out with this you two." Serena voiced her gratitude as she and Ash began to head out.
"No problem. You two have fun on your date." Dawn exclaimed as she and May waved off to the couple.
Once Ash and Serena were out of sight, the waving was replaced by nervous sweat drops.
"Was it a mistake to let Max and Bonnie use some of Clemont's technology to make those outfits?" Dawn asked her fellow coordinator.
"Oh absolutely. But we lost the bet." May sighed.
Dawn replied with a sigh of her own "Yeah. Lesson learned on that one. Don't bet against kids. They're way too sneaky."
"Yup. You'd think it would be easy to outsmart them since they're younger. But apparently not." May said with a hint of frustration.
"I just hope Ash and Serena aren't too upset with us if something goes wrong. Though in our defense, Clemont really should keep his inventing gear more secure from Bonnie." Dawn exclaimed.
"Right?!" May concurred.
As Ash and Serena were walking through town, they were starting to feel more relieved. No one had noticed it was them so far which led to them feeling a little more confident on their disguises.
"Oh. Honey, let's check out that store." Serena addressed Ash by his "codename" as she pointed out a store that sold items meant for Pokemon.
Ash joined Serena in heading into the store as they looked for things their Pokemon might like. Serena noticed two pairs of shades that she thought her Pancham might like, but she couldn't decide which one to get.
"Hey Honey, which of these shades do you think Pancham might like?" Serena asked.
Taking a look at the two pairs of shades, one of which was green and the other of which was light blue, Ash voiced his opinion. "I think I'd go with the blue one. It's a nice, icy shade of blue that reminds me of Pancham's Ice Punch."
Serena took another look at the blue shades and reached the same conclusion. "Yeah. I think you're right. These do look like what Pancham would prefer." So she set the green shades back on the shelf and put the blue ones in her shopping basket.
Ash and Serena continued to shop through the store, finding a few more gifts for their Pokemon, and in the last section of the store Ash found a really good one.
"Hey sweetheart, check this out." Ash addressed Serena by her own "codename".
Serena walked over to Ash to see that he had found a book of some kind. "What kind of book is that honey?"
"It's a cookbook. It's all about using berries that Pokemon eat to make desserts like pies and cobblers for Pokemon." Ash responded.
"Wow! That sounds great! We should definitely get that." Serena exclaimed.
"I agree. With your baking skills I'm sure our Pokemon would love those treats." Ash stated happily.
"Thank you honey." Serena smiled at his compliment. "But I think it would be even better if we baked those treats together." Serena said in a flirty tone as she moved her face closer to Ash's.
Blushing a bit at the proximity, Ash questioned "A-are you sure? I'm not exactly the star baker that you are."
"That's ok. I can show you the ropes. Besides, I think it'd be a great way to spend some quality time together." Serena finished that last sentence under breath as she pecked Ash on the cheek.
"Yeah. You're right." Ash smiled as he pecked Serena on the lips. The couple made their purchases and left the store to continue on with their date.
Elsewhere, two very uneasy coordinators returned to the abode the group was currently staying at, and noticed the mischievous little Impidimps that were Max and Bonnie watching TV.
"Maybe if we're quiet we can sneak past them." May whispered to Dawn. The Sinnoh coordinator nodded in agreement, and the two of them tried to tiptoe past the causes of their unease.
"We can see you." Max exclaimed which startled May and Dawn. The two coordinators looked over to see themselves being displayed via camera on a monitor that they didn't notice before.
"If you two are here, that must mean Ash and Serena are already on their date right?" Bonnie asked mischievously while holding a remote with a single button on it.
Knowing that Bonnie and Max already knew the answer, May responded honestly "Yeah, they are. What's that remote for?"
"Oh it's just the reason why we insisted that you have those two wear the disguises we made with Clemonts technology over their regular outfits." Max replied.
"Ah come on. You don't have to press that button do you?" Dawn attempted to salvage the situation. But Bonnie pressed the button, and Dawn and May hung their heads and sighed.
Back with Ash and Serena, the lovely couple had just finished eating some Ice Cream they had bought when they heard voices coming from…their disguises?
"Prank sequence initiated. Commencing hilarious protocol." The voices said. And before Ash and Serena could finish saying "Wait what?" their disguise flew off of them in pieces faster than a Supersonic Skystrike. Good thing they had listened when May and Dawn told them to wear their regular clothes underneath.
Suffice to say, Ash and Serena were a little freaked out. And given the out of the ordinary circumstances that had just occurred it didn't take long for people to notice them.
"Hey everyone. Look! It's Ash and Serena. The Pokemon Monarch and the Kalos Queen!" A random bystander had pointed out.
Ash and Serena were then swarmed by a much larger than they liked group of people. Most of which were fans wanting autographs and interviewers bombarding them with questions.
Serena very quickly decided she couldn't take it anymore and called out her Sylveon from her Pokeball. "Sylveon! Use Dazzling Gleam!" The performer practically begged.
The fairy type Pokemon did as instructed and gave off a brilliant light that caused the crowd to have to shield their eyes. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Serena withdrew Sylveon into its Pokeball as she and Ash made their escape.
Once the light had died down, the crowd noticed that Ash and Serena had disappeared. "Wait! Come back! The people have a right to know!" One of the news reporters shouted.
Ash and Serena made it out of town without any more trouble. Once they were able to catch their breath a bit, Serena recalled what the news reporter had shouted and said "The people have a right to know? More like they have a right to mind their own business!"
"Couldn't have said it better myself." Ash agreed while panting.
Once they had recovered from their sprint, Serena lamented a bit over what had just happened. "Not my favorite way for a date to end." She stated with a pout.
"Yeah. But the ending aside" Ash hugged his girlfriend "I'd say it was a date worth keeping in the memory banks."
Serena felt her frustration fading away as she responded "Yeah. It was a good one all in all." Serena and Ash shared a kiss as they wrapped their arms tighter around each other. They shared the blissful moment until they needed to come up for air.
After gazing into each other's eyes a bit, Ash spoke up "I should probably pick up Pikachu from Prof. Oak's lab. And let him know what happened so that he'll be ready to unleash a few shocks. I've got a bone to pick with May and Dawn."
"You and me both." Serena exclaimed. So they headed off Pallet Town to retrieve Pikachu. They would find out eventually that they'd have a bone to pick with Max and Bonnie as well.
