Night fall, Hicca's and Toothless's nest
Once Hicca finishes her tale both Gobber and Gothi go from happy, to angry, to pity, and finally sadness. "Now we are at war with the Red Death. Stoick has Valka somewhere in that nest." Hicca explains finishing her long tale to the pair. She looks at them and asks, "How did you guys get here? Just how?" Gobber and Gothi look at each other then back at Hicca. Gobber says, "We were not the only ones who escaped lass. A few others did too." Gothi then says, "But they did not come with us. They took different paths. But we began our journey to get here in the hope we would find you." Hicca nods and Toothless says, "You heard our story. Perhaps it is time we heard your story." Gothi nods as does Gobber so Gobber the storyteller he begins. "We started our escape plan after the fight with Stoick."
4 years ago, Gothi's Hut
Gothi sits still while Gobber applies a paste to her shredded wings. After Ash struck Gothi down he was about to kill her. However, Gobber was able to stop Ash from killing Gothi. Gobber was able to defeat Ash but not without his remaining wing being broken. Gobber looks to Gothi who is severely injured and barely able to stay up right. The pair were able to get back to their shared home with some help from other older owls. Once back Gobber started to treat Gothi's wounds then his own wounds.
Once Gobber is done applying the paste he puts the bowl away with difficulty. Gothi asks, "Gobber, do you think Hicca, and the others are safe now?" Gobber puts the bowl down then hobbles back saying, "I am sure Hicca is safe and right as rain." He pauses then says, "I do wonder how she is. And how the others are doing as well."
He sits down across from her then says, "You know our time is short." Gothi nods then says, "I know." She looks up at him then says, "We will either die here or out there." Gobber nods then look out to the arena to see a crowd forming. He shakes his head then says, "We are too old to leave." Gothi nods then says, "I know. But maybe Hicca is on to something. We should try to leave. If Hicca and her friends made it then so can we." Gobber hesitates a moment then says, "We have no one. Plus we have others who want us dead."
Gothi agrees then she says, "We may have a way." Gobber looks at her then says, "If you are referring to Valka's escape, that won't work." Gothi shakes her head. Gobber thinks for a few moments then his eyes go wide, "You can't be serious." Gobber looks at Gothi in shock then he continues, "Gothi, that is risky. That plan is more dangerous than faking one's death or even escaping in broad daylight."
Gothi agrees and says, "It is our only chance, Gobber." Gobber closes his eyes then begins to pace back and forth for a while. After he finishes a few laps he stops, looks at Gothi then says, "Alright. We can try it. But we only get one chance at this." Gothi nods and says, "I know. Even if this is the only chance we get then we make it count." Gobber nods his head, "Then before we try we both need to rest and heal." Gobber says with Gothi nodding her head in agreement then a loud cheer is heard and a chant of a name is heard, "ASH!" Both Gobber and Gothi look at each other then Gobber says with concern, "Ash won. Should he win his next fight." Gothi agrees then says, "He will make things impossible for us. We must be extra careful."
The pair spent the next week planning and healing. During this time their meals have become less and less and that is because of Ash. Who as revenge for allowing his target to escape has made sure they get less than everyone. Despite the fact that both Gobber and Gothi have a high rank. However, many older owls see what is going on and don't agree to the treatment.
Ash has a following as do Gobber and Gothi who now are going to try to escape. Gobber and Gothi now walk along waiting for an opportunity and they get it when Ash lands in front of them. His battle talons ready he looks to the pair angrily, "I see you both are still alive." He sneers at the pair.
The trio are now attracting a crowd around them. Soon the whole flock is watching from all places. Gobber takes a step forward, "I have been around for years, Ash. I will not die to a youngster like you." Ash growls then stomp his talons. Behind him his followers rally all has battle talons on. Gobber looks at the followers then Gothi steps forward, "Ash. You don't want to do this." Ash, not hearing Gothi says, "I will do as I please. I am the new Chief Champion. I am in charge. And you both are a throne I need to get rid of." Ash and his followers step forward and behind Gobber and Gothi the older owls step forward. One of the older owls yells, "Stop this!" Another says, "We fight with honor! You have no honor!"
Ash grows angrier than he screeches. His followers behind him get ready to fight as do the older owls. Gobber and Gothi look at each other then back at Ash. Gothi once more says, "Stop this. Walk away Ash. This is a fig-" Ash cuts her off, "ENOUGH! GET THEM!" He charges with his followers behind. Gothi steps back as the older owls lunge forward. Both Gobber and Gothi duck down as both sides fight. They both manage to get away from the center of the fighting. The moment they go away the humans that keep them come running.
The humans open the door but in that moment, Ash charges, scaring the humans and causing the door to break. Many escape but now they fight out of the cage they lived in. The humans duck down themselves as more owls come out. Gobber yells, "It's now or never!" Gothi nods and together they make their way out. As they walk, owls drop dead from both sides of the battle. When they get to the door Gobber helps Gothi climb up and out with Gobber close behind her. Just as quickly as the battle started it ended. Ash and his surviving followers leave in a hurry while the others leave too but don't follow Ash.
Both Gobber and Gothi hide from everyone and after some time has passed, they come out of hiding. They manage to get into a small tree to rest and when they look out, they see the sun set for the first time. Gothi says, "We are free. I thought I would never see the day." Gobber nods then looks up to see the first stars coming out. He says, "We have a long journey. If Haven is true then we will find Hicca."
Gobber pauses then looks down, "I would be willing to bet she has been looking for us every day." He says quietly, Gothi nods in agreement then says, "We can't fly. So that makes this even more dangerous. I pray for safe travel and calm winds." Gobber chuckles then say, "We survived worse Gothi. Besides, we can take on anything!" Gothi nods her head then settles for sleep Gobber settles next to her and the pair fall asleep. Now they have a new goal, and that goal is to get back to Hicca.
Auther's Notes: Hello everyone I do hope everyone is doing pretty good. Another chapter done and ready. As a heads up for everyone next Friday I will not post a chapter as I will not be able to do so. Then next chapter that will be posted will be on the 27th then after that posting will continue on Fridays like normal. I apologize for that so when I do post chapter 14, I will add a sneak peek to the next fanfiction. I know last time I will do that when this fanfiction is coming to an end. But since I won't be posting next Friday, I wanted to bring the sneak peek sooner then I planned. I promise this tale has more chapters to come so don't worry.
