Chapter 5: Letter by Phoenix
Thousand Sunny: Bow
Harry could not believe his eyes, an actual phoenix perching on the bow of the ship before his very eyes. A legendary bird which is considered a legend told by in stories and folklore. The only time Harry saw one technically is when the Whitebeard pirates' current captain Marco showed him his Zoan form, which is what got him the moniker Marco the Phoenix. But unlike Marco whose Phoenix is a glowing cyan colour with a blonde plume, this phoenix has all the beautiful shades of red and orange, as if it is made of fire, according to the legends.
Nervous when the thought of touching this majestic creature, Harry slowly reaches out his hand and hoped that the bird doesn't burn him. But to his surprise, the phoenix happily trilled and lowered it's head down a bit, giving Harry permission to pet him. Harry gently stroked the phoenix's plume and heard it trill again. Harry could not believe it, he is petting a phoenix, Brook's jaw dropped off in shock by this, literally as there is nothing to hold his bony jaw in place. The Old skeleton could not believe it himself, that a bird of legend, a phoenix flew by and perched down on the bow of the ship.
Such a rare sight, and seeing Harry light up for seeing this beautiful creature also put a smile on Brook's face...if he had any. The phoenix trilled happily as Harry gently strokes his feathers in the right way, normally he doesn't allow anyone the privilege of touching him for he would burn them if they get close, but he doesn't for he as a reason. The Phoenix raised it's leg up to Harry where a letter is tied up to, Harry noticed this and removed the letter off the phoenix's leg and takes good look at it.
He widens his eyes as he read the heading on the envelope, written on green ink it reads:
HARRY POTTER
THOUSAND SUNNY
EAST BLUE
Harry froze in place as he looks at his name written on his unopened letter and then looks at the Phoenix who gave him a melodious chirp while moving it's head at him as if he wanted him to open the letter. Harry is about to open the letter when Brook stops him by grabbing his wrist.
"Wait, Harry" said Brook "It's unwise to open strange letters, especially when they are addressed to you. Allow me to open it in case it's bobby trapped."
"I don't think it is, not when it is delivered by a phoenix which are considered benevolent creatures in legend." Said Harry "And besides, isn't seeing one also good luck?"
"Well, the legends do say that, but we still don't know what is contained in that envelope apart from a letter for you. So, allow me to open it if it is bobby trapped."
Harry is hesitant, but considering that he is the most wanted kid pirate, there is a possibility that this letter may be a tricky to do him harm. He sighed and gave Brook the letter.
"Thank you, Harry. I promise you won't regret it." Said Brook as he opens the letter with reluctance, before he does, he noticed the wax seal with the print of the coat of arms bearing 4 animals on them, a lion, a badger, an eagle and a snake. Brook is curious about this but he breaks the seal and opens up the envelope and...nothing happened. "Huh, it appears safe. here you go, Harry"
"Jeez, all that fuss for nothing" said Harry reclaiming his letter while rolling his eyes and pulls it out of the envelope. It contains two sheets of paper but Harry reads the first one first.

Harry is once more shocked by this, he is been attended to go to a school for witches and wizards...but why? Sure, he hung around with some wizards at Weatheria and his moms are occasionally called witches due to their skills and abilities, but Harry never once see himself more than a pirate.
"This is rather peculiar, Harry" said Brook as he read the letter for himself, even at the second letter which reads.

"What's more interesting is how are we about to get all that stuff?" said Harry
"Now hold up, Harry" said Brook "I think it's best that we discuss this with everyone in the morning, now off to bed with ya and keep hold of these".
"Alright, night Brook" said Harry as he runs off to the children's quarters. Brook watches Harry leave before turning his attention to the letters in his hand.
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry...could this be from where Harry's old place, before he appeared on board the Sunny while in the midst of the Florian Triangle? Brook thought before neatly putting the letters in his pocket and resumed his guarding duty. As he does, he mutters in tune. "Gather up all the crew, it's time to ship Bink's Brew..."
Morning
When daybreak comes, Brook is relieved of his post by Usopp who was the first to wake and took over so that Brook can get some rest. But before he does, the old skeleton makes his way to the front of Captain's door and knocks on it.
KNOCK
KNOCK
"Captain, Captain, are you up?"
On the other side of the door, Luffy is still asleep and between his two beautiful wives, he stirs and groans with the knocking on his door is head. He opened his left eye slightly and stares annoyingly at the door.
"W-What, who is it?" said Luffy while Nami and Hancock stirs also as they try to get comfortable in Luffy's arms.
"Sorry Captain, but last night we are a...unexpected visitor with a letter for Harry" said Brook "I have the letter and...
CHIRP
Our guest is still here" said Brook as he looks up to see Phoenix named Fawkes perching up on the upper railings.
"Aye, aye, just give us a moment to get up so we can greet him later, in the meantime, tell Sanji to get breakfast ready, will ya."
"Aye, aye, Captain" said Brook "And the letter?"
"leave slip it under the door, I'll read it later" said Luffy
"Of course" said Brook as he slides the letter under the crack of the cabin door. He then turns away and makes his way to the kitchens. As he does, he heard Ussop exclaim in shock and surprise, he suddenly noticed Fawkes perching on the railing.
"Whoa, is that a Phoenix!?"
"Phoenix?"
Suddenly Luffy woke up and burst out of bed, unaware that he was sleeping in the buff all this time, his caused Usopp and Brook cover their eyes.
"Luffy! Put on some pants, for Oda's sake!" Usopp with his face pulled in disgust while covering his eyes.
"My eyes, my poor eyes!" Brook cried as he still covers his weeping eye sockets.
"Brook, you don't have any eyes!" said Usopp
"Now that's insensitive for you to say, Usopp" said Brook as he remove his skeletal hands away from his eye sockets and frowned at Usopp. "I know I'm old but that doesn't mean you can joke about my poor eyesight."
"For Oda's sake, Brook, you're a skeleton and our captain is out and about in the nude." Usopp snaps angily at Brook that he slightly forgot that Luffy is still on view...and still naked. "Damn it, this is not what I wanted to see first thing in the morning."
"Huh? What's this?" said Luffy as he felt something on his feet and looked down to see a letter on the floor. He picks it up and turns to Brook and ask him. "Brook where did this come from?"
"From Fawkes the Phoenix" said Brook pointing at the perched Phoenix perching above Luffy
Luffy looks up to see the phoenix and gazes in awe while it chirps it's melodious song.
"Whoa, a phoenix, an actual phoenix!"
"Luffy why are you up this ear...Luffy, please but on some pants" said Nami calling out from inside the Captain's Quarters.
"Oh don't be a prude, Nami" said Hancock as she smiles as she enjoys the view of Luffy naked body. "I don't mind seeing my darling like this"
"scoff* of course you would say that" said Nami rolling her eyes at Hancock.
Luffy pays no mind as he then starts reading the letter, he frowns slightly after reading it and turns to Nami. Nami noticed this and starts to get worried.
"Luffy, what is it?"
"Brook, tell Sanji to hold up on breakfast and call everyone here" said Luffy as he then close the door, ignoring Usopp's screams of relief with a "THANK ODA IT'S OVER!" and heads for his desk to that he can put the letter down.
"Luffy, what's wrong?" said Nami
"You still remember how Harry came to be, and how he became our son?" said Luffy
"Of course I do, what kind of mother would I be if I don't" said Nami as she felt a bit offended by that question, but due to Luffy's expression, there is a reason for asking that question. "Why?"
"The letter, it's a school acceptance letter addressed to Harry" said Luffy "Albus Dumbledore, the one who sent this letter..."
"do you think..." said Nami
"could be, this Albus Dumbledore is someone from Harry's past, before he appeared on the Sunny during her maiden voyage." Said Luffy "This could be the chance to answer that mystery we were looking for Nami."
"I'm not giving him away, Luffy!" said Nami as she, by maternal instinct, yelled at Luffy.
"I was not suggesting that, Nami!" Luffy angrily exclaimed as he felt offended by what Nami said. "I wanted to know what happened to Harry's parents and how he came to be with us. I know Harry would want to know also. Ever since..."
"I see...I am sorry Luffy" said Nami looking down with shame on her face.
KNOCK
KNOCK
"Captain, everyone is here" said Brook
Luffy is about to call out when Nami beat him to it.
"Just wait a moment, Brook" said Nami before turning to Luffy. "Get dressed Luffy, you can't start the meeting in the nude"
"Oh, right" said Luffy as he then realised that he was naked all this time. He immediately puts on a frsh pair of pants and shirt put let it open as usual so that his burn mark on his chest is visible. Hancock is disappointed taht Luffy is now dressed, but understands as she and Nami do the same so that he can begin the crew meeting, which only occurs when something serious happens. And this is one of those times.
Later
With the King dressed along with his Queens, he called his crew to come in while he sits on his desk, even Harry is brought in as this is about him too. Everyone wonders why they are called up here and they are about to get their answer. Luffy presents them the letter of acceptance to the crew, and during that Fawke the Phoenix flies in and perches on the desk, greeting everyone with his melodious call.
"Hello everyone, I am Fawkes" Chopper translates for the Phoenix "I have travels all across the world looking the Harry an could find him anywhere in the world I am from, so I travelled through the borders of reality which only Phoenixes and other creatures of legend can traverse to, and to my surprise to see Harry on board a Pirate Ship. And it seems that he is being treated fairly for all these years, as we thought he perished just like his parents."
"What do you mean perished?" said Luffy turning to the phoenix. "What happened?"
"I don't know the full details as it is up to my master Dumbledore to answer that question, Pirate Captain..."
"That's pirate KING, bird"said Luffy giving Fawkes a warning leer.
"And I am a phoenix to you, a bird which I can turn this ship to cinders with ease if I wanted if you don't show me some respect." Fawkes said while leering back at Luffy before turning to Harry "Short story short, the tragedy that befell on that night, Harry here was no where to be seen and was presumed dead...until 2 years later when he appears randomly all around Britain, and again at Hogwarts."
"Why am I not surprised?" Nami said with a weary sigh as she now knows where Harry was when he ate the Blink Blink Fruit back in Weatheria during the Straw Hat's Separation. She then gives Harry a slight yank on his ear out of annoyance at her son's habit of vanishing. "You did give me a scare back them"
"Ow, Mum!" Harry exclaimed as Nami tugged on his ear.
"Wait, you said that Harry came to Hogwarts, do that means that the power of the Blink Blink Fruit can possible take to that world."
"But I don't know where Hogwarts is" said Harry while rubbing his ear. "I was only a baby when that happened, right. And I have no recollection of actually being there."
"Makes sense" said Chopper "The brain of a baby is still on stage of development and past memories are easily forgotten. That is until Fawks starts chirping in response.
"That won't be a problem, I can take Harry to Hogwarts so that he can learn to get there."said Fawkes as he then flies up to Harry and land on his shoulder, then he noticed Medusa poking her head out on his shirt and freaks out flying. "By Godric's glorious beard! Where did that snake come from?"
"And who's the giant chicken?" said Medusa as she hissed at Fawkes
"C-Chicken, how dare you, I am a majestic Phoenix, a creature of legend that is awed and feared by all." Fawkes said while ruffling his crimson feathers and starts glowing warmly with embers flying slightly in the air.
"You still look like a chicken to me." Hissed Medusa in a deadpan expression.
"Watch, I eat snakes you know"
"Guys, can you stop arguing please!" exclaimed Chopper as he sick and tired of hearing them while all the other crew can hears is nothing but hisses and chirps from the animals.
"Sorry"both said Fawkes and Medusa as they look away.
"Back to the subject, I can carry Harry and take him to Hogwarts, where Dumbledore can give him a tour around the castle", said Fawkes
"Now hold on" said Luffy as he stands up from his desk "He still needs permission from us first, for we are his parents."
"That's right, and we need would like to have a little chat with this Headmaster of this magic school of his, and why is he applied there."
"Sounds fair, I'm sure Dumbledore is reasonable to explain" said Fawkes as he calmly chirped. Carrying three of you at once is no problem, Phoenixes are strong as well as magical"
"Splendid, so when do we leave?" said Luffy
"Whenever you're ready" said Fawkes
"Good, then we'll go after breakfast" said Luffy, this caused everyone to sweatdrop and some laugh at this. Same old Luffy, always thinking about food after dealing with serious issues, perhaps it does work up an appetite. "So Fawkes, would you like join us?"
"I suppose, do you happen to have some whiskey on board, it helps keep the fire in me burning" said Fawkes.
"I'll see if we have some around, knowing Zoro who likes to drink."
This caused everyone to laugh except for Zoro who is very amused at that statement.
Later
After Breakfast, Luffy and Nami got themselves ready by wearing appropriate clothing in their wardrobe as to make a good first impression when they arrive at Hogwarts. Nami is dressed in one of her lovely dresses that would rival Hancock's, while Luffy has to button up his shirt, wear trousers and a pair of boots which he finds uncomfortable. His hat remains for he would feel naked without it, but his messy hair is brushed and neat thanks to Hancock. Hancock wanted to come, but Luffy and Nami is not sure if bigamy is allowed where Harry was originated from, so she has to stay until that fact is known.
Harry is also dressed neatly, but in his casual clothes taht he finds comfortable, he is not to bring his staff or Medusa along so they are left behind. Hinagiku offered to take care of Medusa until he is back. Once they are ready, Luffy, Nami and Harry are ready to take off and wait for Fawkes who is perching on Luffy's arm to take off.
Fawkes chirps at Luffy, which Chopper translated for them "Ready?"
"Aye, take us away, Fawkes" said Luffy as he hoist his arm high so that Fawkes has some room to spread his wings.
"Onward, to Hogwarts!" Fawks chirps before flapping his wings and took the 3 passengers up into the air. Nami held tightly on Luffy while holding onto Harry as she not yet comfortable flying this way, she's more comfortable on Zeus while she's on the air, but being carried by a Phoenix is exactly on her mind for air travel.
Luckily Nami gathered her courage as she is safe in Luffy's arms looks down to see the Sunny shirinking from the distance, with the crew waving goodbye to them. Luffy and Harry are having the time of their live, especially when they are off to a new adventure. To a new world which Harry is born in before being sent the one he grew up in. As Fawkes fly off at high speed, he starts to engulf everyone in flames but does not burn them and the vanish in a flash. No longer is the Pirate King in the Grand Line, no longer are they among in this world.
Scotland, above Hogsmeade
A flash of crimson fire bursts out in the morning sky and Fawkes emerges out from them, everyone underneath the phoenix looks down to see taht below them is not the sea, but land. Vast stretches of land with networks of ancient roads between old stone fences which leads to a small town beneath them. The people look up to see the phoenix flying by with awe while the children out and about all cheer and wave at the passing bird if they know him and they be right when they shout out "Welcome back, Fawkes"
Fawkes happily chirps a hello to the townsfolk below as he flies by and continues on with the journey. Then at the distance, they see an old castle ruins near a huge lake and by a vast forest, at first the King and Queen of Pirates are confused by this but Harry doesn't see it as ruins but a castle that's still standing with all of it's towers standing tall and proud with their green bronze spires.
"Wow, it's amazing" said Harry
"Really? All I see is a pile of rubble" said Luffy, getting a nod from Nami "Are you sure this is the right place?"
Fawkes chirps in response and continues on to the suppose castle ruins, then as they got close, the view of the ruins shifts before Luffy and Nami's eyes as they become a standing functioning castle.
"Whoa, it's a mystery castle" said Luffy in awe.
"Dad, you're too old to say that, I say it." Said Harry
"Hey, I'm only 27" said Luffy leering down at Harry would pouting like a child as he doesn't like to be called old.
"Don't mind him, dear" said Nami as she gave Luffy a kiss on the cheek, causing Harry to roll his eyes.
"Look, we're about to land" said Harry as he noticed Fawkes heading down for the Castle courtyard.
Hogwarts Castle: Courtyard
Fawkes descends to the courtyard, slowly and steady so that his passengers can get off with ease. Luffy drops down with Nami in his arms while Harry lands gently thanks to Fawkes keeping his talons hold on him.
"Thank you, Fawkes" said Harry when Fawkes took off so that he can return to his master. But not without a friendly chirp at Harry before he leaves.
Luffy looks around to admire the sight of the castle, he noticed that no one is around and wonders if the castle is occupied.
"So this is Hogwarts, huh?" Said Luffy
"Indeed, but where can we find this Dumbledore person?" said Nami
"Well I'm sure if we go in and ask around, we may find hi..."
Suddenly, a voice shouts out at them.
"WHO THE DEVIL ARE YOU?!"
Luffy, Nami and Harry turns to see someone approaching him, a grumpy looking middle-aged man with long greasy grey hair, a skinny build, hunched shoulders and a mean looking face with pale leering eyes. He is dressed in a brown coat, brown waist jacket under his white shirt and a pair of black trousers with boots. With him is a tabby cat with red eyes, leering at the intruders and roawing aggresively at them.
"Hello, I am looking for..."
"You are trespassing on school property, you damn kids?"
Kids? Thought Luffy and Nami tilting their heads with confusion.
"I had it with people showing such disrespect, no better than those damn griffindors and those good for nothing weasleys twin...but enough is enough, I am going to call the authorities and..."
"That won't be necessary, Argus"
The man suddenly turns to see an old woman dressed in beautiful emerald robes, half-moon glasses and a black witches hat walking out of the grand doors of the castle.
"Oh...professor, I was just..."
"Clearly they are with a child, meaning that they are either curious or concerned parents who want to see the facilities before deciding to sent their child here to learn the arts of wizardry." Said the woman who walk pass by the grumpy looking man so that she can greet the King and Queen of pirates. "Am I correct?"
"Wow, I just got here and you know about that." Said Luffy with an impressed look on his face. He offers his hand to the woman and gives him his famous smile. "Monkey D Luffy, Captain of the Thousand Sunny and King of the Pirates."
"And I am his wife, Monkey D Nami, Navigator of the Thousand Sunny and Queen of the Pirates"
"Ah, you use your family name first, much like the families from Asia style but my the looks of you you're not Asian. Brazilian and Swedish maybe, but not Asian" Said the woman.
"I...have no idea what you are talking about" said Luffy tilting his head in confusion at what this woman said. "What's Asia?"
"Forgive my husband, we're...not from here, globally mind you" said Nami "The Phoenix took us here from another world and brought us here. May we have your name please?"
"Oh, of course excuse my manners, I am Minerva McGonagall, Professor of Transfigurations and Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts."
McGonagall shook Luffy's hand to welcome him and well as Nami. She then turns to look at Harry, who she is happy to see but kept herself composed as she needs to remain professional as any Deputy Headmistress should.
"And Harry Potter, it is nice to meet you...you still go by Harry Potter, correct?"
"Aye, Mum and Dad didn't want to change it as it's my name" said Harry as he offered his hand to McGonagall "Nice to meet you, Ma'am."
"I'm glad you taught him manners" said McGonagall to Luffy and Nami as she shook Harry's hand. "I was worried that something bad would happen to him."
"I was never easy, raising a child while being a pirate" said Nami "I'll explain how he came to us later, first we need to have a talk with the Headmaster."
"Of course, I'll take you to him" said McGonagall before turning to the grumpy man. "That'll be all, Mr. Filch"
"A-Are you sure, Professor?" said the man named Filch before leering at Luffy "Considering what they are."
"Considering what, Mr. Filch, that they're muggles or pirates"
"Ah...well I"
"That will do for now, Mr. Filch" said McGonagall with a sterner tone, forcing the man to leave and go back to whatever he was doing, and his pet cat follows him on the way. "I apologise for our caretaker's behaviour, he's not the kind to tolerate muggles to set foot on Hogwart grounds."
"What's a muggle?" said Luffy
"Muggle is a term we use to call people without magic in their blood. I am a half-blood witch, meaning my mother was a witch and a muggle father, much like Harry here. But that can be explained later, please follow me."
The 3 Straw Hats follows the Deputy Headmistress inside the castle so that she can take them to the main office of the Headmaster of Hogwarts, Albus Dumbledore.
Hogwarts Castle: West Tower
McGonagall lead her guests through the castle corridors and offered them a brief history about the school, the castle has was build just around 1000 years ago by the 4 founders whose names are that of the 4 school houses which the first years will choose during the Sorting at their orientation. The after the sorting they will be at that chosen House for the remainder of 7 years stay at the castle for their education.
"Of course, they can leave for Christmas to spend with the family, and each term ends at the end of July and another begins at the beginning of September, so you will have time to prepare and do some shopping which Dumbledore will provide you the ideal spot to get what you need. All the details getting here will be presented later." McGonagall. "The lessons be arranged on their weekly timetable, they'll get weekend breaks but there is a strict curfew which starts a between 8:30-9:00 pm.
The lessons for the first years include Charms, Transfiguration, Potions, Herbology, Astronomy, History of Magic, Muggle Studies and Defence against the Dark Arts. Lessons for Later years will be introduced soon. Plus there are school clubs that Mr. Potter can chose to join for extra-curriculum, including a popular sport of out known as Quidditch...but First Years are not to join the house team until they are skilled enough to ride a broom.
"Riding a Broom, as in...FLYING?" said Harry as the thought of flying in the air got him hyper excited.
"That's right, you will be learning how to fly a broom with the rest of the first years" said McGonagall as she found Harry's excitement for flying amusing. "Now, nearing the end of the terms, students will have to take their O. , school exams that will evaluate their education while the the Final Years will take their N.E. , which are harder so I expect you to study hard for them."
"Don't worry, we had the best teacher on board our ship, and she's our archaeologist" said Luffy as he ruffled his son's hair. Even Nami here one since he caught him some cartography."
Nami chuckled at Luffy's flattery, this however made McGonagall happy to hear that Harry was given good education. To hear that Harry's...Ship-School teacher is an archaeologist means that this person very responsible.
It's a mirable that Harry ended up in their capable hands, thought McGonagall Pirate or no, they raised Harry well and proper, even though I suspect trouble as pirates are well known for.
"Ah, here we are" said McGonagall as she reached the hidden doorway to Dumbledore's office which is located by the statue of a Gargoyle. She spread out her arms and yells out "Butterscotch!"
The Gargoyle reacted to this and starts to spin upwards to reveal a spiral staircase, she turns to the Pirate King and Queen offers them access.
"Here, Professor Dumbledore awaits" said McGonagall
"I'm sorry...Butterscotch?" said Nami
"Aye..." said Mcgonagall with a sweatdrop. "Dumbledore...can be a bit eccentric and he has a sweet tooth. But I assure you, he's completely sane and of fair mind. Just up the stairs and you'll find him behind his desk."
"Thank you for allowing us to meet" said Luffy
"Not at all, it's natural for parents to come and see what kind of school we're running" said McGonagall. "Now if you excuse me, I've got work to do."
"Goodbye and thank you" said Harry by waving the now leaving witch.
Luffy looks at the stairway and then at Nami, he noticed the nervous expression on her face and he gives her hand a gentle squeeze, which she squeezed in return.
"are you ready?" said Luffy
"No...but let's get this over with" said Nami as she heads up the stairs first, with Luffy and Harry to follow.
Dumbledore's Office
The office door opens for Nami to enter through a tall circular room of the headmaster's office. Rows of bookshelves and other items of display show that this is a place of work, and has rows of portraits of old witches and wizards napping on their chairs, and they appear to be snoring. Harry and Luffy joins in and are amazed by the sight, even at awe at the sleeping portraits on the wall.
"Ah, welcome!"
Nami and Luffy turns to the desk where an old man with long white hair and beard, a crooked nose which holds his half-moon spectacles behing his blue eyes which twinkle when he gazes upon the 2 pirates, then he noticed Harry who is looking around and rushes to where Fawkes is now perching and greets him again.
"When I found Fawkes perching, that only means that you have finally come back to us, Harry Potter." Said the old man with a kind grandfather-like smile to the boy. "And I believe they are the ones who took care of you. Greetings, I am Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry."
