Chapter 10: The Devil Fruit Drive
Thousand Sunny: next day
Things on board the Thousand Sunny is normal as always, the famed pirate ship is sailing across the calm waters with clear skies at the Grand Line. The crew on board are on duty, Kaya and Chopper is treating Yassop's sea sickness after from yesterday's storm, Sanji and Pudding are down in the kitchens preparing a meal for tonight, Jimbei is at the helm steering the ship to the right course, and Zoro is up on the crow's nest...sleeping when he's suppose to be on watch for any threats on the horizon.
Robin is at the library reading a book while Nami works at her surveying desk charting up a course on one of the sea charts while checking her log pose on her wrist to see which direction the ship is on. Luffy sitting on the Sunny's figure head as he usually does and gaze upon the horizon, with a bottle of rum in his hand while humming "Bink's Brew". Brook is at the stern with his Grandson Mick, both practicing with their instruments which their duet is heard on the upper decks.
On the main deck, Harry is showing everyone his new owl which he named Hedwig, a name which he got from a witch in one of the history books he read in Flourish and Blotts. He let the Owl out so she can fly around above the deck a few times before perching on one of the railings at stretching her wings. The other kids carefully approach the owl so not scare her and each were hesitant to stroke her, only to find her quite friendly and acceptable with their gentle strokes.
"She's beautiful" said Banchina as she nervously stokes Hedwig with her two fingers. "And you say that witches and wizards use them to deliver their post?"
"That's right, just like News Coos" said Harry as he reaches out his hand which a large leather glove is worn, it was included when Hedwig is bought, along with a book about Owl handling and care. Harry read the book and is still in progress in caring for the owl which he'll eventually use her for postal. Hedwig saw Harry's gloved arm reaching out and starts to fly toward him, she perches on his arm, the glove protected from her sharp talons gripping on to steady her perching. "I'm not sure how they know where they going, but it's quite interesting regardless.
"Have you tried her out yet?" said Tom
"No, this world is foreign to her and I don't want to risk her losing her way" said Harry as Hedwig hooted with appreciation for her master to fly off in this strange world. "I'll use her once I go to Hogwarts, where it's home to her."
Suddenly a faint explosion boomed from below the deck beneath the children, it even spooked Hedwig and flies off and soars to the top of the masts.
"What are they doing down there?" said Harry
"I don't know" said Yassop with the same curiosity when looking down at the lawn covered decking. "Dad never let us down at the workshop as it's too dangerous, but I am so curious on what he and Franky are doing."
"I hop they don't blow up the ship" said Harry
"Dad wouldn't let that happen" said Tom "The Sunny is his pride and joy, and he'll fight for nail and board to keep her afloat."
"Hmm" said Harry when suddenly another faint explosion boomed, only for Usopp to yell out and rush out through the hatch, partially on fire and running for his life.
"Fire! Fire! I'm on fire!" exclaimed Usopp in a panic as he runs like a madman.
"Damn it, Ussop" exclaimed Franky as he rushes out with a bucket of water in hand "Stop running around or you'll end up burning the ship!"
"Then put me out then!" exclaimed Usopp before Frank threw water at him, dousing the flames off his person. The long-nosed gunner spits out the water that got in his mouth and looks back at the cyborg. "thanks"
"I think we should call it a day" said Frank "It's like last time"
"No way, I spent 5 years to get it working and I am not gonna stop until it does." Said Usopp until leans close to Frank to whisper in his ear. "This needs to work so that Harry can go to Hogwarts."
Franky sighs at this while fixing his shades.
"You're right, this is important" said Franky as he heads for the open hatch and jumps down. "Come on, lets get to work."
"Right!" Usopp said with enthusiasm as he joins Franky below deck. He close the hatch over once he enters through, leaving the kids to be more curious about what the 2 men are doing.
"I'm gonna peep," said Harry
"No, we are not suppose to be down there" said Banchina frowning at Harry, but Harry didn't listen and vanished via his Blink-Blink Fruit powers. The girls palmed at this and groaned at Harry, Yassop and Tom couldn't help but chuckle at this, causing the girls to mutter out "Boys" and walks off .
Workshop
The workshop is one of the most restricted parts of the Thousand Sunny as it is where Ussop and Frank work on with either weapons or new inventions that would benefit the Straw Hats. Not even Luffy is allowed as there was one incident where the Pirate King accidently caused one of the unfinished inventions to go out of control and caused so much damage on the Sunny that Franky had to beach her for repairs. Only Usopp and Franky are allowed in this section of the ship that they have their own keys to gain entry. Harry quietly appeared behind something huge right in the corner, only to reveal to be an incoming upgrade of the Brachio-Tank V.
He quietly passes the tank and heads to where Franky and Usopp are working on, the two doesn't seem to notice the boy as they are working on something rather mysterious as it is completely covered with cloth so not to reveal its true form. But Harry can tell it's mechanical as Franky is holding a metal plate while Usopp is welding it. Harry wanted to look further, but the blinding sparks from the weld is preventing him as they force Harry to shield his eyes.
"There, that should do it" said Usopp "With the extra reinforcement, it won't blow up again"
"Good, when do you think it's time to test it?" said Franky
Usopp sighs at this while pulling off the welding mask from his face to display his hesitant expression.
"We need a volunteer, out from the 3 Paramecia-types before he use on Harry" said Usopp. "But who would be willing, though."
"Well...Luffy would be eager to volunteer" said Frank
"Yeah, but what if it doesn't work and kill him? I don't want to be the one as the pirate who murdered the Pirate King" said Usopp "And I don't know what Brook's powers can do as it only revived him from the dead...can ships die."
"Well...Merry died" said Frank, causing Usopp to weep tears.
"Aye, don't remind me" said Usopp as he cried in a ugly way. "I still bawl when I think of her."
Franky palmed his face for what he did, the mention of the Going Merry and most of the crew would go emotional.
"How about Robin?" said Franky
"If she's up to it" said Usopp shrugging his shoulders. "Knowing how risky this can be...unless she can create a clone with her Flower-Flower Fruit powers, it could be possible."
"Let's just go up to her and ask" said Franky "As long as we explain this to her, she'll be willing to assist us."
"Alright, let's go" said Usopp as he and Franky starts to leave the workshop so they can speak to Robin. Harry waits for the gunner and shipwright to leave before he can come out of hiding so he can have a look at this mysterious invention the two men at working on. He grabs the cloth and pulls it down so he can have a good look at it. He has no idea what he is looking at, but he knows it's mechanical its made of metal, as a large window on the door which means it's accessible. Basically shaped like a dome, with many dials and switches on the sides as well as pipes jutting out on the top.
Harry tilts his head out of curiosity by this bizzare machine and reaches out for the door to open it. He opens the door which gives out a pressurized hiss, stating that tie interior is airtightand by opening it, the air is released. He looks inside and sees a comfortable chair, a chair? Confused by this, Harry enters in to investigate the chair, but after he enters, the door starts to close behind him and lock him inside. He doesn't notice for he is focusing on this strange chair and starts to looking around it, he then notices something strange beneath the chair, various wiring is hooked under the seat of the chair and the arms has a control panel with a selection of buttons on top. He sits down on the chair and noticed how comfortable the chair is, no doubt Franky's carpentry work as he didn't just build a ship, but refurbished her as well.
He looks down at the control panel on the chair's arm and starts to push one of the buttons on it, causing the lighting to go off, causing some panic for Harry as he immediately jumps off the chair and opens the door, except that it was locked from the outside and he is trapped.
"No, no, no no!" Harry as he bangs his hand on the door, only to realise that he can use his devil fruit powers to get out instead. He close his eyes and focuses himself blinking out from the machine and appearing back on deck. However, as he use his powers, he never notice that he never vanished from the workshop and instead the machine starts to turn on and glow in a mystical jade glow which starts to spread all across the room.
Meanwhile at the Library
"You want me to do what?" Robin said when Usopp and Franky came for her at the ship's library so they can ask her for a favour. She was curiously reading through Hogwarts, A History (which Harry shoplifted in Flourish and Blotts...because he's a pirate) along with the other books from the bookshop from Diagon Alley when the Gunner and Shipwright rushed in.
"We need your help to test our project down at the workshop" said Usopp "Look I know we made it clear that it's restricted but this is very important as it requires your devil fruit powers to make it work."
"Is it that same project you've been working on for the past 5 years?" said Robin "One of Vegapunk's scrapped inventions?"
"The original plans were flawed, but we made various modifications on the designs and we believe it to be...operational."
"You hesitated, Usopp" said Nami at the surveying desk. "Now are you sure it's not gonna blow up?"
"Look, this will be the first test on the device, alright?" Usopp exclaimed. "We had to fortify the structures and regulate the pressure to keep it stable. The machine itself is safe and ready for use, all it needs is a Paramecia Type to get it running.
"And out of the 5 of us, you chose me?" said Robin
"Look, Luffy might be eager to volunteer but after the incident with him almost sinking the Sunny, I can't risk it." Said Usopp "With no disrespect, Pudding's Devil Fruit is useless for the test, not use about Brook's in the meantime, so all that's left is you, Robin"
"What about Harry?"
"All the reason to ask you for the test, Robin" said Usopp "We need to know if it works before we can use it on Harry. Plus, Nami will tear me a new one if I tested it on Harry and it somehow doesn't work."
"Damn right I will" said Nami while working on the sea charts. "To hell I'll let any of you use Harry as some guinea pig for your science experiment."
"that's right, I wouldn't do that to Harry, but you Robin" said Usopp "You have that Cuerpo Fleur technique which could be perfect to us. A duplicate would work as it's made by your powers and temporally power the machine."
"Hmm, perhaps...why not?" said Robin as she put the book down and stands up. "I'll help you"
"seriously!?" said Usopp and Nami, although their reactions differ from another, Usopp is happy that Robin, Nami however is in disbelief at Robin cooperation.
"Thank you, thank, you, Robin" said Usopp as he pulled the archaeologist in a deep hug, which shocked her at first but smiled and gave him a pat on the back.
"After seriously going through this?" Nami said to Robin
"I know Usopp has good intentions for this, and the jist on why he wanted this tested first before Harry could use it." Said Robin "I doubt he would bring the whole ship to Hogwarts all on his own, she's too big."
"I guess so" said Nami as Robin has a point. There so much Harry's Blink-Blink Fruit can do, but it also has its limitations, such as the size and quantity of items which he can teleport with him. The biggest he can do is about the size of a car at best and the limit of objects depends on their individual size. She then turns to Usopp and gives him a very warning frown. "If something happens to her, I swear to Oda."
"I promise, we have extra precautions on the machine if things go wrong" said Usopp "We haven't spend 5 years on it for nothing."
"Usopp is right, Nami" said Franky, reassuring her with a thumbs up. "Robin will be fine"
Suddenly a rumbling caught everyone's attention and then a sudden jolt caused everyone to lose balance and collapse onto the floor, even Nami as the jolt launched her off her chair and slid over the desk.
"What just happened?" said Nami when suddenly the door bursts open and Luffy rushed in with an expression of shook and confusion is seen on his face.
"Guys, you need to see this!" said Luffy
Main Deck
The whole crew gathered at the deck and what they see is the entire ship shrouded in a jade-coloured glow. They were at all at this but suddenly the glow brightens and the ship vanished from for a second, and then appeared just by 5 metres. This also cause everyone to lose their balance and collapse on the desk.
"What's going on?!" said Zoro as he push Sanji off him when the second jot caused them to fall into each other. "Is this some form of attack!"
"I don't know, I don't see any ships on the horizon" said Luffy "It was nothing but smooth sailing until this happened."
"So what caused the jolting? Did we hit a reef?"
"No, it's all open water around us" said Jimbei "Plus this glow on the ship, I never seen this before."
The Sunny starts to jolt again when it vanished and appeared 5 metres ahead. Everyone lost their balance once more and they got back on their feet.
"We need to find out what's causing this!" said Nami when she realised something. "The children, where are the children?"
"Where fine!"
The crew turns to see Mick bringing the children around, the young musician rushed by to check on them when the first jump occurred. They all look frightened, Yassop and Tom are trying to look calm, as well as Hinagiku but it's clear they are frightened and thought they're under attack. The ones who got it bad where Sora and Banchina as they rush off for their mothers for comfort. Belle however looks down, feeling ashamed which Nami starts to notice. But that isn't the only thing the noticed, for she doesn't see Harry among the group of scared children.
The Navigator rushes to Belle and drops to her knees when she near her daughter and looks at her with worry.
"Belle, where is Harry?" said Nami
Belle looked up at her mother and then threw herself in her arms, which Nami hugs her knowing that she's scared too.
"I'm sorry, I told him not to go down there" Belle said in a muffle as her face is pressed on her mother's shoulder. "He didn't listen"
"Hold on, what do you mean?" said Nami as she push her daughter slightly so she can speak directly to her. "Where did Harry go?"
"At the workshop, he at the workshop."
"OH SHIT! THE MACHINE!" Usopp exclaimed in a panic when he heard Belle and starts to head for the hatch so he can climb down to the workshop.
"Shit?" Franky who realised too and rushes to assist Usopp.
Confused by this but worried for Harry, Nami also rushes off for the hatch leading to the workshop as she is worried something has happened to Harry down there, even Luffy joins her as he is also worried for his son.
Workshop
When Nami and Luffy descend to the workshop, they notice that the machine Usopp and Franky worked on for the past 5 years has been activated, not only that, but Harry is seen inside the machine, head down, eyes closed and with a looks of struggle and discomfort on his face. He is trying to get out the machine, but instead he is powering it unintentionally which explains the ship's frequent 5 metre jumps.
"Harry!" Nami immediately rushed towards the machine and starts banging o the window to get her son's attention. But no matter how loud and hard she bangs, Harry doesn't seem to hear her as he is deep in focus on getting out of the machine, unaware of powering it instead.
"Throw the kill switch!" Franky exclaimed to Usopp while turning the pipe valves so to cut off the power.
"Already on it!" exclaimed Usopp as he heads for the power box and throws the switch, causing the machine to power down. Usopp drops to his knees and lower his head in exhaustion and relief, same for Franky as he can feel the machine calm down as the power is cut. He heads for the door and opens it so that Harry can get out.
But as they open the door, Harry vanished and then appeared behind Franky, Luffy and Nami. However, from the many attempts to escape caused Harry to suffer from fatigue and collapses onto his knees and sighed in the same relief as Usopp. He is unaware that his parents are here as he is still exhausted from trying to escape the machine. Then he can feel himself blackout and keels back and collapses to the floor. Fortunately, Luffy caught him before he could hit the floor.
"Harry?" Luffy called as the boy is barely conscious in his arms. "Harry, are you alright?"
Harry groaned, then leaned over and starts puking his guts out, Luffy winced in disgust by this but still holds him and kept him still. Harry leans back after this and looks back at his dad.
"Sorry, did I get some on you?"
Luffy only chuckled and carries Harry in his arms, Nami immediately rushes to them so that she can check up on Harry.
"Harry, are you alright?" said Nami
"Yeah, just a bit woozy, but I'm ok?" said Harry
"Oh good" said Nami before she gives Harry a whack to the head.
"Ow, Mom!" Harry cried as he held his head after Nami hit.
"What on earth were you doing down here?!" Nami starting to yell at Harry "You know well to never come down here, it's dangerous. Usopp and Frank explicitly told us not to enter the workshop."
Harry couldn't help but pout and looks away after what Nami just said, she is right but curiosity got the better of him and made a bad decision.
"I just wanted to see what Usopp and Franky is working on" said Harry looking away, afraid knowing that he is in big trouble, trouble which he will not get away from.
"They would've told you eventually, nothing is kept secret long" said Nami crossing her arms and kept her frown on her face. "But that's no excuse for you be down here."
"Sorry, mum" said Harry
"As for you two!" said Nami not turning her attention to Franky and Usopp, the men flinched when it's their turn to be scolded and yelled at by Nami. "You're damn bloody lucky that Harry didn't get himself killed by that thing you've been working on. So I'm let this incident slide, for now."
"H-How generous" said Usopp with a very nervous smile.
"Y-Yeah, thanks" said Franky who is equally nervous as Usopp.
Luffy didn't say anything as he take Luffy away from this place, and Nami does the same. But the Navigator stops to turn to the Shipwright and Gunner again, causing them to flinch once more.
"Captain's Quarters, tonight" said Nami "You're going to explain all of this to everyone."
"Aye" Franky and Usopp nervously said as their Queen leaves with Luffy. They remained still for a moment while the machine they worked on for 5 years starts to leak out steam from the pipes and spark.
"We should clean up" said Usopp
"yeeeah" Franky said in an awkward agreement.
Evening: Captain's Quarters
With things back to normal, the crew went back to their position after tidying up the mess caused by the numerous jolts and jumps caused by Harry's accident in the workshop. Harry is sent to the infirmary and is now bedridden while Chopper and Kaya check up on him, making sure if the machine hasn't done any internal damage on the boy.
It wasn't until Evening that the crew are once again gathered but this time the captain's quarters, Luffy is at his desk with Nami and Hancock by his side while the others are making themsleves comfortable, well almost was Chopper and Kaya just entered the quaters and waved at everyone.
"Good for you to join us, doctors" said Luffy with a smile "How is Harry."
"All signs looking good, he's just suffering from nausea and motion sickness" said Chopper "So I have some medicine and sleeping in the infirmary. He'll be back on his feet first thing in the morning."
"Good! Please take a seat" said Luffy to the ship doctors. "We're about to start this evening's meeting. Usopp, if you may"
"R-Right" the gunner said with a nervous tone as he knows what exactly that this meeting is about. He stands up from his seat and heads for the front of the desk so that he can confront the rest of the crew. "Now then, you're all wondering that just happened this afternoon. Well... there's a reasonable explanation for all of that."
"Just spit it out already, Usopp" said Zoro, he is leaning on the wall with his arms crossed, he is not happy with being here as it disrupted his daily exercises up on the crow's nest.
"I was getting to it, Zoro!" exclaimed Usopp at the Swordsman and starts giving snidely remarks "I'm so sorry for keep you from your daily naps, drinking and weight lifting, you impatient brute."
"Care to repeat that?" said Zoro as he slightly unsheathes his Wado Ichimonji.
"Will you shut up and let Usopp talk, Mosshead" said Sanji gritting tightly on his lit cigarette with his teeth as he is getting impatient himself, but not at Usopp but at Zoro. "Go on, Usopp."
"Thanks, as I was saying." Said Usopp as he leans back on the desk and sat on it. "The strange jolts and jumps the Sunny just done was caused by an unintentional result of a project Franky and I've been working on for 5 years."
"What project?" said Jimbei raising his thick white brow at the Gunner.
"It's called the Devil Fruit Drive, or the DFD for short" said Usopp "It was originally a project designed by the renowned Professor Vegapunk, commissioned by the World Government to be an upgrade for the Marine Battleships, but it was scraped long ago."
"Why did the World Government scrap the project?" said Robin
"When a prototype was built, it was tested on and became a bust when a marine officer, who's name was redacted to avoid a scandal, was killed on the first test, and the ship which the protoype was installed on blew up."
"AND YOU BUILT IT ON OUR SHIP!" exclaimed Nami in pure anger and terror.
"Relax, we managed waht went wrong and fully understood how this machine works now" said Ussop, taken back from Nami's outrageous outburst, causing him to flinch and held is hands out so to reassure her, fat lot of good that did for the poor Sniper as the Queen's fury is almost par to the Conqueror King's Haki...surprisingly. "Don't forget, Franky and I worked on the project for 5 years, we took extra precautions and made sure to spot any flaws which Vegapunk left out."
"So, waht was the problem?" said Robin
"According to the records, the prototype was structurally unsound, and the battleship wasn't reinforced for the drive to function properly. Plus, the marine who volunteered to test the fruit ate the Nitro-Nitro Fruit, a paramecia fruit which grants the user to produce nitro-glycerine, an unstable explosive compound."
"I see" Robin said as she is starting to get the full picture on why the drive failed it's first test. "during the test, the marine secreted Nitro from their body, and it reacted to the instability of the ships infrastructure when it rattled and..."
"Blew up, yeah" said Ussop with a nervous expression and gulped like the first time he read about the incident from the reports. "The government saw this as a failure and not risking more ships they scrapped the project completely and due to Vegapunk's ego he shelved the plans rather then destroy them."
"But how did you get your hands on the plans?" said Chopper
"It was during the Separation" said Franky as he spoke up. "We all know that Kuma sent to various island throughout the world. Well when I went to Baldimore at Karakuri Island, I found the plans within the archive at Vegapunk's old laboratories... until I blew it up, of course."
"However, Franky salvaged many potential projects which could benefit us during our adventures, a few which you saw previously." Said Usopp "Black Rhino, the BrachioTank, the Shogun Franky, all previous inventions of Vegapunk that were scrapped from their first failed tests."
"But thanks to the wonders of Wapol-Metal, it's now possible to build these masterpieces" said Frank as he stands up and does his SUPER pose. "OH YEAH!"
"I think we get the idea" said Nami holding her hand to cut Usopp and Franky off. "But what does this Devil Fruit Drive do."
"Well, do you remember seeing some vehicles that were powered by Logia-Type Devil Fruits, such as Smoker's Motorbike, Kuzan's bike, Ace's Dinghy and Enel's Ark Maxim?"
Nami felt a sudden chill running down her spine when Enel's name was mentioned, Luffy noticed this and hold her hand to comfort her, reminding her that the self-proclaimed god is no more.
"Well, the Devil Fruit Drive was meant to be a ship upgrade use against us pirate" said Usopp "It's purpose is to give ships the ability of paramecia-type devil fruits, depending on the fruit. For example, if Luffy is placed in the drive, the ship will become rubber which would be perfect for defence against cannon fire, or Robin with her Flower-Flower Fruit, she could give the ship...oh I know, maybe extra cannons for more firepower..."
"Or more masts and sails for speed" said Robin
"Exactly!" said Ussop point out Robin.
"So what you are saying is that with this drive, our ship will have any devil fruit powers if any of the devil fruit user is in this "Drive" of yours" said Zoro
"Well, I wouldn't say any Devil Fruit powers" said Franky rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. "There are some Paramecia that can't do anything, such as Brook's Revive-Revive Fruit and Pudding's Memo-Memo Fruit, for instance."
"Let's hope he don't come across the Nitro-Nitro Fruit" said Ussop in a nervous but joking matter.
"Makes sense, Pudding's Devil Fruit is of no use" said Zoro, which earned himself an angry glare from Sanji.
"What did you say, Moss-head" said Sanji
"I said your wife's fruit is useless to the drive" said Zoro "Are you deaf, dartboard brow?"
"Oh that is it!" exclaimed Sanji as he about to give Zoro a piece of his mind, but Ussop and Pudding stops him before a fight between the cook and the swordsman could start.
"That's not what I mean, what I mean it's unlikely for a ship to "come back from the dead" or "extract memories" said Usopp trying to calm Sanji down "I just don't how it could work on the Sunny."
"Usopp is right, Sanji" said Pudding to her husband, although it's sweet of him to defend her, it's not really necessary as she doesn't care what the Shitty Swordsman says about her. "Even I don't see any sense for me to use the drive."
Sanji took a while to calm down when he is now being hugged from behind by his wife, allowing her arms to wrap around him and sits down while taking another cigarette from his pack to smoke on.
Usopp nods at the chocolatier in thanks for calming the cook and turns back to Luffy and Nami.
"I want to say that I am sincerely sorry for that happened before." Said Usopp "Considering how secure we made the workshop, we never thought that Harry would use his devil fruit to sneak in."
"You are very damn lucky that Harry is fine." Said Nami with a dangerous tone at Usopp as she leers at him dangerously. "I hope you're about to take responsibility for this."
"I am" said Usopp as he drops on his knees in penance. "Lucky or not, I should be punished as the last thing I want is to put Harry in any harm."
Kaya looks at Ussop sadly at this and feels concerned for him.
"Ussop"
"Usopp, it's fine" said Luffy standing up from his chair and walks around the desk to approach the penitent gunner. He lifts his friend up and pats him on the shoulder. "Don't beat yourself over this, it's Harry's fault as he knows he shouldn't be down there and he'll take responsibility."
This shocked Usopp when Luffy said that Harry is the one to blame, not him.
"Luffy, surely you..."
"I've made up my mind, so does Nami" said Luffy, Nami nods at Usopp to confirm her husband. Harry is grounded for the rest of summer and will assist you all on their duties. Nami"
"Right, I already came prepared for situations like this." said Nami as she walks towards the rest of the crew and pulls out sheets of paper which she gave each of them a copy. "This is the timetable scheduling Harry's appointed duty with all. He'll be starting first thing tomorrow morning once Chopper dismisses him. And that conclude things, meeting is now adjourned."
The crew is dismissed and heads out to resume their duties until night time, Usopp is hesitant for he partially disagrees for Harry to be punished...but Luffy and Nami are right, Harry broke the rules when he sneaked in the workshop and must be punished. The Gunner is the last to leave the captain's quarters and heads back to the workshop to give the Devil Fruit Drive a complete overhaul.
"That was...interesting" said Hancock
"Interesting? Harry did something completely stupid which Ussop failed to notice" said Nami to the former Empress with a look of disbelief. "If it were up to me, I punish both of them."
"Ussop is willing to take that responsibility, Nami" said Luffy "The poor guy feels guilty enough to accept any punishment, but I think that's enough for him."
"I can't believe you talked me into this" said Nami crossing her arms.
"The drive is his top priority now, Nami" said Luffy "We can't have guilt get in his way on making sure the machine works properly. And once it does, then Harry can use it, safely."
"You want Harry back in that thing?"
"If we want take the Sunny to Hogwarts" said Luffy as he pulls Nami close to him in his arms, Nami sits on his lap so to get herself comfortable while resting her head on her King's chest. Hancock scoffs at this and mutters under breath in contained jealousy. "I know you're not happy with this, not after before. But sometimes we need to take risks to get to where we want to go. Remember reverse mountain? The Knock Up Stream? The Aqua Laguna?"
"How can I forget?" said Nami in a grimace as she remembers those moments on their journey in the Grand Line. "I have a complete idiot for a Captain."
"and husband" Luffy with a cheeky grin
"Aye" Nami said while chuckling which cheered her up, especially when Luffy kissed her forehead and again on the lips.
Hancock pouts like a child when watching her husband kiss Nami, couldn't help but get jealous for Nami receiving Luffy's attention instead of her. But it didn't last for Luffy coils his outstretched arm around the pirate empress and reels her in. Accepting this, Hancock lets Luffy pull her towards him until she is now in his shared embrace and kissed her next, which she eagerly accepts when returning it with passion.
"It's rather late and he had quite enough excitement for they" said Luffy "How about we call it a night?"
"Now that...has to be one of your best ideas yet" said Nami with a relieved sigh.
