Michael Knight is lying in bed tapping on a new tablet that KITT gifted him on his 60th birthday. Michael was surprised that the AI would give such a gift since the computer inside a Trans AM would express displeasure at the slightest hint of using another computer device.
Cell phone? KITT threatened Michael by lighting the EJECT LEFT indicator when the man brought up the topic during an afternoon drive.
Lap top? KITT wouldn't speak with Michael for two days... Two WHOLE days.
Michael is busily tapping and swiping on the tablet while using the camera and an app he downloaded, enabling the user to change their look. He looks at a reflection of himself off the glass of the tablet. His once brown curly hair is grey and much shorter. There are various wrinkles on his face and traces of scars near his ears from his plastic surgery all those years ago. At least the eyes are the same - brilliant blue, although now hooded with drooping eyelids. Age has caught up to the once handsome man.
Thirty minutes later, Michael is finished using the app and looks at the end product. Looking rather pleased with himself, he decides to pay his loved one, KITT, a visit, who is recharging inside the garage of the small cottage they now call home. With the tablet in hand, Michael enters the garage and stops to admire the beauty of the Trans AM.
KITT is still a black Trans AM, but the chassis is a newer version - a 2000 version, modified with the original Anamorphic Equalizer, and the interior is black leather instead of the old tan. KITT's controls are also newer. There are no more buttons. Everything is under the control of Michael's voice or KITT on AUTO.
KITT was recharging when one of the security sensors inside the chassis detected Michael and alerted his central processing unit.
The instrument panel inside the cabin activates, the Anamorphic Equalizer turns on, flashing brightly, and KITT wakes with a figurative yawn. "Michael? What are you doing here? It's the middle of the night."
"Couldn't sleep, Pal," Michael explained. He enters the car and moves the tablet to the nearest camera inside the cabin. "Take a look, KITT. What do you think?"
"What am I supposed to look at, Michael?" KITT asked, bemused. "You couldn't wait until the morning?"
"My new look," Michael said excitedly.
"Your WHAT?" Michael, I don't understand. You're fine the way you are," KITT said, annoyed that his soulmate chose this time to show him a visual on a tablet. "Go back to bed, Michael."
"Come on. Buddy. Humor me." Michael swipes the tablet to show KITT his new look. "What do you think?"
"Alright, Michael. If you insist..." KITT's alpha circuit almost overloads as his optics stare at the images. "MICHAEL KNIGHT! DON'T YOU DARE GROW THAT- THAT- BEARD!" He yells, shocked.
"I would look good with a beard, KITT. What's with your reaction?" Michael said, confused.
"YOU WOULD LOOK LIKE- LIKE- GARTHE!" KITT sputtered.
"Really?" Michael swipes at the images and sees that KITT has a point. He deletes the photos. "So much for my new look."
"Michael, I meant what I said earlier. You don't need to change your look. I love you, for you - Grey hair, wrinkles, scars, everything about you," KITT said softly. "Please go back to bed."
"Mind if I sleep with you?"
"You're always welcome to sleep inside my cabin, Michael."
Minutes later, Michael is sound asleep, and KITT returns to recharge with the knowledge (and also happiness) that some things will never change about his soulmate.
