And now, we have a story from the 2017 DuckTales series.

Takes place 1 week before The Trickening!.

Enjoy!

McDuck Manor:

Sora stood outside McDuck manor before facing the audience.

"Ah Duckburg. Life is like a hurricane around here. And this is where Donald Duck and his family stay when they're away from the royal life of Disney Castle. There's always something crazy going on around here. Curses, hauntings, villains attacking Scrooge McDuck for just about anything, you name it. And it's no stranger to the supernatural. Scrooge does have a ghost butler after all. But one day, the kids would find themselves seeing what the ghost life was like."

The adults were packing up the Cloudslayer for a trip.

"Make haste everyone, I want us up in the air before the storm clouds roll in!" Scrooge said.

"Almost done, Uncle Scrooge!" Della called.

"Just putting in the self-defense weapons in." Beakley said, hauling in some large containers.

"Won't those magic weapons be enough?" asked Launchpad.

"Even mages and Keyblade wielders get tired sometimes." said Donald.

"Donald's right." said Daisy, setting in a suitcase. "Better to use your power and energy carefully than recklessly."

At that moment, Huey, Dewey, Louie, Webby, Lena, and Violet entered the hangar.

"There you all are!" said Dewey.

"So where are you all going?" asked Louie.

"Us grown ups are taking a little trip to New York." said Donald.

"You're going on an adventure to New York?!" Webby asked excitedly.

"It's more of a business trip." Scrooge clarified. "No adventure. It just has to be done."

"You don't sound either excited or bored about it, Uncle Scrooge." Violet commented.

"Well as much as I love adventure, I do have to think of the well-being of McDuck Enterprises." Scrooge replied.

"We're tagging along to see the sights and get out of Duckburg for a while!" Daisy added.

"Can we come with you?!" Dewey asked, pleadingly.

"Sorry kids, but this is a business trip and we won't have as much time to do the stuff you wanna do." said Della.

"Especially since there have been a lot of road construction too." added Donald.

"But just in case anyone does decide to give us a hard time or we run into something odd, we'll be ready." said Beakley.

The kids were displeased. Except for Louie and Lena.

"Well, I could use another break from adventuring for a while." said Louie.

"Me too." said Lena.

"I guess we should make the most out of it." said Huey.

"Is someone gonna watch us or am I gonna have to babysit?" asked Lena.

"Duckworth will be keeping an eye on you lads and lasses while we're gone." said Scrooge. "Including you when you visit us, Violet."

"Be on your best behavior for Duckworth while we're gone, okay?" asked Della.

"You got it!" promised Huey.

Later the plane sailed away to the skies as the kids made their way back inside the mansion.

"Well we officially have the whole mansion all to ourselves!" grinned Dewey.

"Dewey, Duckworth is looking after us." Huey reminded his first younger brother.

"Yeah, but we're the only alive ones!" Dewey countered.

"So will it really be the six of us for the next few days?" asked Violet.

"Yeah. April, May, and June are out adventuring with Xandra." said Huey, showing a photo of the trio and Goddess of Adventure with King Vomit and his fellow goblins.

"We can still have fun together!" said Webby.

At that moment, Duckworth phased through the ceiling, making everyone yelp.

"Good afternoon young ones." the ghost butler greeted.

"Hey Duckworth! How's our favorite ghost butler doing?" Dewey asked.

"Doing very well, thank you Master Dewford." Duckworth replied. "Now then, I understand you all got your homework done and have picked up your rooms?"

Everyone nodded.

"Very good. You may play about as long as you don't do anything rash, reckless, or irresponsible." Duckworth said firmly but fairly.

"Meh. Sounds good to us. Same old, same old." said Louie.

"If you need me, I will be cleaning." said Duckworth, levitating various cleaning tools; a broom, a dustpan and brush, a feather duster, a mop, and a rag. He grabbed the feather duster and got to work dusting as he sent the others to do some cleaning with his ghost powers.

"Wow… so cool…" Dewey said in awe.

Later, the hexad were hanging out in Webby's room. Louie, Webby, Lena, and Violet were playing poker, Dewey was playing Sky Whale on his phone, and Huey was organizing his books.

"You guys think it's cool that we have a ghost for a babysitter?" asked Webby. "I swear, it's an experience not everyone can say they have."

"Big deal, Duckworth is our ghost butler first and then our babysitter when every fleshling adult in this mansion is out and about." said Louie, shuffling his cards. "How much you ladies putting in?" he asked as Lena dropped some chips.

"I bet being a ghost is a cool experience." said Dewey.

"You're talking about being dead, Bluey." Lena deadpanned. "I raise 2."

"Well maybe not as a dead person, but having ghost abilities." Dewey corrected. "Flying, levitating, phasing through solid anything, glowing an ominous bluish white color, and looking…"

"Transparent?" Huey offered.

"Something like that." the middle triplet replied.

"Well if I were a ghost, I would use my abilities to help people." Webby chirped.

"Well if I were a ghost, I'd scare the living daylights out of my enemies." smirked Louie. "Three of a kind!"

"Bother." Violet hissed, shuffling. "But in retrospect, what enemies are you referring to, Llewellyn?"

"You know, like the Beagle Family, Doofus Drake, Glomgold." Louie replied as Webby set down a Flush. "Dang it." Louie hissed.

"After all the problems they've caused us, I can see why you'd wanna do that." said Huey, putting up the books The Troll Twins of Underbridge Academy on the shelf.

"Hey Lena, you think you got the mind of magic to pull that off?" asked Dewey.

"Unfortunately, no." said Lena, counting some chips. "Magica taught me some basic magic, but nothing like that." She snorted. "Not like I'd ever let that old she-devil teach me anything ever again."

Webby pondered something as she shuffled her deck. "Maybe you don't have that kind of magic Lena… but I think I know something that does." she said with a grin.

"Oh I know that grin." said Louie. "Whatever you're thinking Webby, I hope it won't end up killing us." He then set down his deck. "Boom! Straight Flush!"

"I trust Webbigail. I'm sure whatever she has in mind, it will all be fine." said Violet. A devious smirk then curled on her beak. "Also, Royal Flush." she said boldly, setting down her cards.

"And Violet wins!" announced Lena.

"Ah, dadgum it." grumbled Louie, tossing his cards… into Huey's face.

Downstairs:

Duckworth was polishing the picture frames when the kids came walking by.

"Hey Duckworth. Heading out." Louie said as they tried to walk past the ghost.

"Hold it!" the spirit said.

The kids froze in place.

"And where praytell are you all… heading out to?" Duckworth questioned.

"Uh… just the town?" Dewey said with a nervous grin.

"You know, getting outside to stretch our legs." added Lena.

"And get some much needed Vitamin D from the sunlight!" added Huey.

"Nothing odd and bad if that's what you're thinking!" Webby quickly said.

Louie facepalmed.

"Hmm." Duckworth hummed. "Very well then. Keep your phones off vibrate and be back by nightfall. If you can't get back in time, stay at the Sabrewing House and call me to let me know so I don't have to do a solo search party."

"We will Duckworth!" promised Huey.

"And can I just say Duckworth, even as a ghost you haven't lost any touch of your wisdom, sincerity, and caringness." Louie said with pointed finger guns. "Honestly, you should get out more from all you do around here, and I mean on the town and not just back to the afterlife.."

"Your comments, while odd, are kind at the same time." said Duckworth, pausing in his dusting. "However, being a ghost isn't always as it's cracked up to be."

"How so?" asked Violet.

"People fear the unknown. From the simplest wandering spirit to the deadliest demon." Duckworth replied. "Not even the people in Duckburg are used to it as much and often dislike it. That's why I rarely go out, at least as a visible ghost."

"Sheesh, sorry to hear that." said Webby, feeling sorry for the ghost.

"Much appreciated, Webbigail." said Duckworth. "Now then, carry on."

"Of course!" said Huey as the six kids rushed out the door.

Park:

The six kids made their way into the park. Lots of people were outside either walking, talking, jogging, having a picnic, etc.

"Lots of people out and about today." commented Lena.

"It's a nice day, why wouldn't they be?" replied Huey.

"I still remember what Duckworth said." said Violet. "So if we do this, we should do it hidden."

The kids snuck behind a large bush and sat in the freshly cut grass.

"Ah, I love the smell of fresh, cut grass." Huey said fondly.

"Focus, Hue." Dewey said. "Ok Webby… it's time!"

And what Webby brought out from her toon space… was a certain book.

The Grimoire du Merlock.

"So are you sure this will work?" asked Huey.

"It's a book that belonged to Merlock." said Webby "It has to now."

"Merlock was a bad guy, Webby." said Louie.

"Yeah, but we're just using this as a harmless little prank against everyone who keeps causing Uncle Scrooge a whole lot of trouble." countered Webby.

"Besides, it's not gonna be forever." said Dewey. "Think of it as our own small adventure."

"It would be cool scaring the crap out of those villains." mused Lena. "Alright Pink, make us poltergeists!"

Webby grinned as she opened up the book. Dewey and Lena looked on eagerly, Huey and Violet looked on in wonder, and Louie braced himself for the worst.

Webby began to read. "Balance of life, scales now tripped. Our souls be altered, not infected or ripped. Spirits of the afterlife we now become. Ghosts, spirits, phantoms on the run!"

The book suddenly began to glow white. And then white flashes of light struck all six kids, making them yell in shock as they were engulfed.

When the flash ended, the kids were now coated in a light blue aura, transparent, and were floating.

"Whoa…" they said in shock.

"Violet, you're a ghost!" gasped Huey.

"You are a spirit as well, Hubert." said Violet.

"We're all ghosts!" Webby said excitedly.

"This is so cool!" Dewey grinned as he flew around in loops.

"So does this mean we're… dead?" asked Louie, looking himself over.

"Not really." Webby said, looking over the book. "Our souls have just been altered by magic. We're pretty much still alive… kinda."

"This is… not like when I was stuck as Webby's shadow." said Lena, looking herself over. "This is somehow better… well, somewhat."

"Think we got the spooky effects down?" asked Dewey.

"As any Woodchuck would know, we oughta test it first." said Huey.

Huey then spotted a squirrel scurry up from the other side of the bush.

"BOOOOOOO!" Huey suddenly hollered, his head becoming bigger and his eyes becoming more menacing.

The squirrel screamed and chittered in fright before it scurried away.

"Hey it worked!" said Dewey. "You scared the daylights outta that squirrel!"

"I feel bad for the little guy." said Webby, frowning.

"He'll be ok!" assured Lena. "It's not like anything else terrifying has stumbled around Duckburg."

"Come on my fellow Feathered Phantoms!" said Louie. "Let's scare our family enemies!"

"Should we split up to cover more ground?" asked Huey.

"Where's the fun in that?! It's more fun doing it together!" said Webby.

"Then it's settled." said Violet. "Friends? Let us spook some villains."

And the ghosts flew off into the sky, their laughs echoing in an eerie manner.

Glomgold Industries:

Flintheart Glomgold was typing on his laptop.

"And place in an order for shark-themed missiles, a giant gold statue of me, and a swimming pool full of something even shinier than gold: DIAMONDS!" Glomgold cackled.

Suddenly, the lights began to flicker.

"Huh? Who's messing with the power?!" Glomgold demanded.

Then, doors leading to the hall, bathroom, and closet suddenly slammed shut.

"What the?!" Glomgold shouted. "Who's there?!"

"Glomgold…" came an eerie voice.

Glomgold turned around. "Who said my name?!" he demanded.

"Flintheart Glomgold…" came another eerie voice.

"This isn't funny!" Glomgold yelled as he grabbed his cane.

"Duke Baloney…" came an eerie voice mixed with a taunting sound.

Glomgold deadpanned. "Alright, who's the wise guy trying to pull a fast one on old, Flintheart Glomgold?!" he demanded. "You can't scare me!"

"Oh but we can…" came a voice as a swirl of white flew past Glomgold.

The billionaire began to shake nervously. "What was that?!" he asked.

"Don't you know what we are…?" came another voice as more swirls of white flew around him again.

Glomgold backed up towards his office door. "I don't know what you are! Stay back!" he yelled, swaying his cane left and right.

But it was fruitless as six white swirls came up in front of him, beginning to laugh.

"What are you?!" glomgold yelled.

"Simple, Flinty…" came a spooky version of Louie's voice.

And then all six swirls became spookified versions of the Duckburg Six' faces, sharp teeth, glowing eyes, and jagged heads.

"WE'RE GHOSTS!" they shouted, their voices eerie and screeching.

Glomgold screamed in fight as he bolted out of his office and made a beeline for the fire exit.

"GHOSTS IN MY OFFICE!" he shouted as he burst through the door.

Everyone that worked for Glomgold ran out of the building in terror.

"CURSE YOU SCARY GHOST INTRUDERS!" Glomgold yelled as he ran for the hills.

The kids laughed at their prank.

"Oh man that was great!" laughed Lena.

"We got him good!" laughed Dewey.

"That was quite exhilarating!" giggled Violet.

"Come on! To the junkyard!" said Huey.

And the ghost kids flew off.

Junkyard:

The Beagle Boys were messing around with various pieces of junk.

"Hey, who wants to play Catch the Tire Iron?!" Bouncer called.

"No way, you always cheat!" Burger scowled.

"I got a better game!" said Big Time. "It's called Metal Sheet Sledding!"

"That does sound fun!" said Bouncer, tossing away the tire iron.

But then, the tire iron suddenly floated back towards Bouncer, glowing white. It then whacked him across the head.

"What the?! Hey, who whacked me?!" demanded Bouncer.

"Wasn't me!" said Big Time, holding his hands up.

And then, a white-glowing metal sheet slid under Burger's feet, making him slip and fall over.

"Hey I wasn't ready for sledding!" he yelled.

Suddenly, some glowing tires began to roll towards them. The trio yelped as they jumped out of the way.

"Who pushed those tires?!" yelled Big Time. "They almost squashed us!"

"This is getting freaky!" cried Bouncer.

"I'm scared!" whimpered Burger.

And it wasn't just those three getting odd encounters. The rest of their family was also having a weird time with glowing objects.

An old car chased the Glam Yankees.

A broken lamppost knocked the Déjà Vus off their feet.

Broken pieces of fencing struck the ground near the 6th Avenue Meanies.

Old cable wired tied up the 6th Avenue Friendlies.

Chairs flew up behind the Déjà Vus, forcing them to sit in the old pieces of furniture.

The boards of the Longboard Taquitos flew out from under their feet and were knocked into their heads.

The Tumblebaums had to dodge falling couches.

The Ugly Failures ducked from flying, rusted silverware.

Black Arts Beagle and Bully Beagle were wrapped up in an old rug.

And the Déjà Vus were bowled over by a water heater.

"What's going on?!" cried Bully Beagle.

"This is scary!" cried a Longboard Taquito.

"This is dark magic at play!" said Black Arts.

"The junkyard is haunted!" cried a Glam Yankee.

The Tumblebaums whistled in fright.

Ma Beagle kicked the door to her home open and she walked out in annoyance.

"Alright, what are you all shouting about?!" she demanded.

"Ma! Ma! Ma! The junkyard is haunted!" cried Big Time.

"We gotta run!" shouted an Ugly Failure.

"Don't be ridiculous!" Ma scoffed. "There's no ghost around here!"

"But what about Scrooge's butler!?" asked Black Arts.

"Duckworth's not the kind of ghost to haunt us on our home turf!" Ma replied.

"But we're not Duckworth…" came a spooky voice.

Ma looked around. "Who said that?" she asked.

A piece of machinery flew over Ma's head.

"Wha-Hey who did that?!" she demanded.

"We're those who don't take no guff from no villains…" came a snarky, spooky voice.

Ma spun her purse. "Don't think you can scare me!" she yelled.

Suddenly, her own car turned on and the headlights glowed brightly.

"Who's in my car?!" Ma demanded. "Show yourself!"

"As you wish Ma Beagle…" came another spooky voice.

The car drove forward towards Ma, making her jump out of the way.

"Hey, watch where you're going!" she yelled.

"You're not in charge around here…" came another scary voice as a white figure floated down and behind Ma Beagle. "We are…"

Suddenly, a bunch of pieces of junk glowed white, floated up, and surrounded the entire Beagle family.

And then, five more white figures flew in and, alongside the first one, morphed into spookier versions of the kids, eyes blackened, feathers and hair ruffled, and their voices echoing and menacing.

"You reap what you sow, Beagles…!" Violet said spookily.

"And now you face OUR WRATH!" Huey said as he pointed at them.

The Beagle family screamed in terror.

"The junkyard is haunted!" Ma cried as ghost Louie quickly tied her up in an old garden hose. "Run for your dern lives, boys!" she shouted.

Screaming in terror, the Beagle Boys burst through the fence, followed by Ma Beagle as they ran for safety.

The ghost kids morphed back into their regular selves and dropped all the junk.

"That was fun!" laughed Webby.

"That was even better than Glomgold!" laughed Dewey.

"And I thought Ma Beagle would be the hardest to scare, but we pulled it off!" cackled Lena.

"And nice job restraining so we wouldn't hurt them to the point of going to the hospital." praised Huey.

"Yeah, thanks for that idea, Captain Buzzkill." Louie huffed, only for Webby to elbow him.

"Come on, let's see who's next on our Pranking Radar!" said Dewey.

And the ghost kids flew off.

Waddle:

Mark Beaks rode around on his hoverboard across his company.

"Mr. Beaks, what's your opinion on the next Waddle Tablet?" asked a female peacock.

"Make it bigger!" Beaks replied without looking at her.

"Mr. Beaks, the coffee machine is on the fritz." said a male bulldog.

"Call a guy to repair it and pay him with the latest phone." Beaks replied.

"Mr. Beaks, you're tending!" said a male tiger.

Beaks scoffed. "Tell me something I don't know."

"Uh, your lawyer is telling you to cut back on helicopters and missiles." replied a female iguana.

"Tell 'em to take a chill pill, a few days in Tahiti, and get back to me on that request." Beaks said as he used an app to open the elevator. He rode inside and pressed the button to his office floor.

In his office, Beaks laid back on his chair as he live-streamed on his phone. "Wazzup my followers? Your rich pal Mark Beaks here! And I'm promoting the up and coming Waddle Car!"

He gestured to a picture on his computer.

"After the last incident with the self-driving car, this one is state of the art modern, has tires that grip the road and can be winterized on and off with the push of a button, and it's headlights can be adjusted from dull and dim to bright and blinding!" he said. "And if you look to my left-"

Beaks was cut off when his office lights flickered. He groaned as he cut his lifestream and pressed a button on his intercom.

"Bailey, my office is flickering!" he said. "Send Burke and Blair up with new bulbs!" (1)

"This isn't Bailey, Beaks…" came a spooky voice.

Beaks blinked. "Uh… who is this?" he asked.

Suddenly, his phone began to flicker. And on the screen stood a distorted Ghost Lena, smirking evilly at him.

"You're worst nightmare, Marcus Beaks…" she hissed.

The African Grey Parrot dropped his phone in alarm. "Gah! What the heck?! Was that a virus?!" he cried.

Suddenly his computer flickered. Distorted versions of the ghost triplets appeared, smirking at him wickedly.

"Oh no Beak-Boy…" Dewey chuckled darkly. "We're your worst nightmare…"

"We're haunting you!" Louie said spookily.

Beaks tried to turn off and unplug his computer. But the ghosts remained on screen. Beaks was now sacred.

"L-Listen, I-I don't know what's going on here, b-b-but no one dares to haunt moi, Mark Beaks!" Beaks shouted, trying to sound defiant. But his shaking legs begged to differ.

Suddenly, a white, ghostly blur possessed his hoverboard and it rolled towards him. Beaks ended up stumbling onto it, and he began to roll around his office at a fast rate.

"Whoa-w-whoa-whoa-hey what are you doing?!" Beaks yelled in terror.

The hoverboard rode around so fast and crashed into Beaks' desk and he flew into the wall.

"Gah, my beautiful, trending face!" Beaks cried as he got up.

Various electronic devices began to glow and move around on their own. Beaks screamed in fright.

"Get outta my kingdom of paradise ghosts!" Beaks yelled.

But the electronic devices began to come towards Beaks and backed him against the wall.

"Never!" Webby's voice came from a robotic hand.

"You reap what you so, Marcus!" Louie's voice came from the hoverboard.

"And these are the faces you screwed over!" Huey's voice came from a floating tablet.

The ghosts suddenly emerged from the electronics and faced Beaks, morphing their faces to look more scary and creepy.

"BOOOOOO!" they bellowed spookily.

Beaks screamed in terror as he shoved through the electronics and ran out the door.

Main Hall:

Beak ran through the hall, catching the attention of his workers… while he livestreamed.

"GHOSTS IN THE OFFICE! GHOSTS IN THE OFFICE!" Beaks wailed. "WADDLE IS HAUNTED! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES WHILE LETTING ME GO FIRST!"

Every Waddle employee just watched him bolt out the doors in confusion.

The six ghosts phased through the roof and howled with laughter.

"That was even better than I planned!" Louie laughed.

"Everyone's gonna be questioning that livestream!" Dewey giggled.

"This ghost-pranking idea was one of the best ideas ever!" said Huey.

"Who's next?!" asked Louie.

"Why don't we take a break from scaring and fly around for a while?" suggested Violet.

"Meh. I could use the wind in my phantom face." shrugged Lena.

"Then let's fly!" said Webby.

And the ghosts flew around the skies above Duckburg. They phased through buildings and did loops around flagpoles and traffic poles.

Webby levitated fruit at a produce stand and juggled them before she set them back down.

Huey phased through lampposts, causing them to glow bright blueish-white.

Louie phased through various TV's at an electronics store, causing them to show static, much to the customers' and passerbys' bewilderment.

Dewey flew alongside some non-anthropomorphic birds and laughed at their shocked and befuddled expressions.

Violet flew down towards a lake and spread her fingers across the water, causing ripples to spread across it.

Lena phased through various walls of a building, startling people in every room, although they didn't see her face.

They soon flew together through Funzo's, which was closed for renovation.

The ghost kids flew through the areas with the ballpit, kitchen, arcade, and janitor's closet.

"Wow! Funzo's is pretty creepy after dark!" commented Dewey.

"It's not open after dark that much?" asked Violet.

"Nah, they don't do any parties after dark… much." said Louie.

The group flew through Funzo's floor… and down into some familiar hallways Dewey felt like he recognized.

"Hey, they have a nifty basement!" said Dewey.

"Ood, I don't remember Funzo's having a basement." said Violet.

"Well, the town doesn't get tornadoes." said Huey. "Perhaps they use it for storage."

They flew around for a little bit before they flew out of the play place and back into town.

"Man being a ghost is fun!" said Dewey.

"And nothing's gonna ruin that fun!" beamed Webby.

F.O.W.L. HQ:

A little while later in the briefing room, F.O.W.L. agents were sitting around the table watching the ghost kids have fun.

On the left were Black Heron, Steelbeak, and Phantom Blot. On the right were Pepper, Falcon Graves, and Tarus Bulba. In the center was the old, frail John D. Rockerduck, who Franken-Jeeves had in a baby carrier since he was unable to walk well at his age.

"Those kids really nailed the ghost-theme pretty well!" commented Pepper.

"Don't compliment them, they're the enemy!" scowled Steelbeak.

"Besides, they came much too close to our headquarters," said Black Heron. "Even closer than when Scrooge himself was here."

"Bradford did kind of overreact there since they were just having fun." Pepper pointed out.

"Regardless, had they explored around further, they would've found our base and put the pieces together." said Phantom Blot.

"F.O.W.L. can't fall yet! I won't allow it!" Rockerduck shouted.

"Easy old guy, you ain't 100 years younger yet." said Steelbeak. "So… what should we do?"

"Well…" Heron smirked. "The kids are vulnerable as ghosts."

"And what praytell makes you think that?" asked Graves.

"When you have the valuable resources like us, Graves, you have a lot of opportunities." smirked Bulba.

"So who wants to be the one to capture them and get them out of our way this time?" asked Steelbeak.

"Gandra would be my first choice, but she's out at a science convention with Dr. Crackshell-Cabrera." said Pepper.

"And I'm swamped with my own work." grunted Bulba.

"This calls for a magic-related attack." said Heron. "Blot?"

"Not yet. I'm still working on the modifications to my device." Phantom Blot replied.

"Very well then." muttered Heron as she stood up. "Get back to work. I'll find someone to help us."

And Heron left the briefing room.

"So… now what?" asked Steelbeak.

"How about Chinese?" suggested Pepper. "Tummy's grumbling for it!"
"I could eat." shrugged Bulba.

Hallway:

Heron walked down the hall, glancing at pictures of late F.O.W.L. agents whose caption's read Deceased. They had died during before or during the last attack before the remaining agents were forced into hiding.

Pictures among them were of Major Synapse, Odduck, Red Feather, Dr. Nogood, Bruno von Beak, President Shinra (Rufus Shinra' father), and of course, the original High Command (albeit their silhouettes).

"Such fine agents, gone too soon." Heron said with actual sympathy.

She then looked across the hall to pictures of other F.O.W.L. agents labeled Incarcerated. Pictures included members like Hotshot, Flygirl, Ammonia Pine, and Ample Grime.

"One day…" she murmured. "We'll get you back..."

And then she stumbled upon a corner with two pictures. One was covered with a sheet. The other was of Feathers Galore. They were labeled Defected.

Heron scowled at them. "Traitors…" she hissed.

The cyborg then made her way towards a training room. There, she saw Magica De Spell, reading a spell book while brushing her white feathers.

"De Spell?" Heron asked.

Magica looked up from her book. "Ah, Heron! What brings you to my new study quarters?" she asked.

"I got a little assignment for you… involving six meddling kids." Heron said with a sadistic smirk.

That caught Magica's interest. "I'm listening." she grinned.

Some time later, the ghost kids had gotten tired from flying and were floating above the bin.

"Well, I gotta say, I'm tired from all the haunting and flying…" said Louie.

"Me too. Who knew being a ghost could be exhausting." said Lena.

"I don't know how Duckworth does it." said Dewey.

"Probably because he has been deceased for years." Violet deadpanned. "But I do agree, we should probably reverse this spell and head back to the manor."

"Yeah, we have been out on the town for hours." said Webby. "Duckworth may be wondering where we are."

"Let's fly down and use that creepy, old book to turn back." said Dewey.

The ghosts flew down towards the ground and maneuvered their way into a small forest.

"Alright Webby, make with the Merlock magic!" said Dewey.

But just as Webby brought out the Grimoire du Merlock, they were suddenly caught in a lightning cage.

"What the heck?!" shouted Louie.

"Is this lightning?!" shouted Dewey.

"Newton's apple, where is all of this coming from?!" cried Violet.

"From me!"

The friends gasped when they saw Magica emerge from behind a tree.

"MAGICA?!" they shouted.

Magica cackled. "That's right! I got word that you lot were flying around, masquerading as ghosts." she said. "So I took to some of my old spell books Poe and I used to look at back in the day and managed to concoct a little spell that can trap ghosts."

"Wait, who's Poe-" Violet began when Magica cut her off.

"Any attempt you make to escape, alive or spirit, you will be in a world of pain!" she sadistically grinned.

"Oh nice try! You lost your powers, I bet you don't even have the mind to-" Dewey began to mock when his hand came in contact with the lightning and he was electrocuted. "OUCH!" he yelped.

"Told you!" Magica giggled. "Yes I may have lost my magic… but I always have a trick up my sleeve!"

Magica then pulled out her spellbook and began to thumb through the pages.

"W-What are you gonna do to us?!" asked Huey, worried.

"Let's just say you meddling nuisances were too close to a certain area and some friends of mine are unhappy." she replied without looking up. "And I'm gonna keep you away from them… permanently." she added with a grin.

"What friends? The creatures of the forest?" Louie snarked.

Magica responded by throwing a rock into the lightning cage. It went through the lighting and right through Louie's ghostly form, electrocuting him.

"GAH! OW THAT STINGS!" Louie cried.

"Maybe don't try to mock our current jailer?" Violet deadpanned.

"You're not gonna get away with this!" Lena sneered at her creator. "Once Uncle Scrooge, Uncle Donald, and basically everyone else finds out what you did to us-"

"Then they will be in for quite the shocking surprise." Magica chuckled darkly. "Let's just say your family's says are numbered." She stopped on a page. "Ah, here we go! A spell that can destroy ghosts… never been used. Until now…"

The six friends went pale as they began to panic.

"No no no!" cried Webby.

"This can't be happening!" cried Dewey.

"Magica don't!" yelled Huey.

"Keep that spell away from us!" cried Louie.

"THis is beyond bad!" Violet shrieked.

"Magica stop! Stop this right now!" Lena begged.

Magica laughed. "Sorry kiddies, but I'm afraid you're not going to stop me! And no one is coming to rescue you!"

"DE SPELL!"

"Huh? Who said my-"

Magica was cut off when a large claw smacked into her and knocked her into the forest.

"What the devil…?!" she shouted as she slid across the grass.

At that moment, Demonworth floated down to the ground and transformed into Duckworth.

"Falsely imprisoning six innocent children, De Spell? You really haven't learned since Lena, have you." Duckworth sneered.

"DUCKWORTH!" the kids said in relief.

"You saved us!" Webby cheered.

"I always look out for the people in Scrooge's mansion." Duckworth simply replied.

"Wait, how did you find us?" asked Huey.

Duckworth said nothing as he pulled out a phone showing their location on a map app.

"Oh! Tracker!" the six realized in unison.

"Wait, you have a phone?" Louie asked.

Magica got up and faced Duckworth. "You made a big mistake trying to attack me, Duckworth." she sneered.

"You made the mistake first by holding these children prisoner and threatening to kill them." Duckworth growled. "Now you will release them at once!"

Magica laughed as she pulled out some curses. "Over my dead body Duckworth! Don't you remember what happened when you were left in charge of Louie?"

Magica tossed her curses at Duckworth and they exploded. But Duckworth flew around them with ease.

"Yes I do." he replied. "I regret not being strong enough to protect him that day… but now I am!"

Duckworth levitated several rocks off the ground and threw them at Magica. The powerless-sorceress yelped and ducked from the attacks as she reached for more curses. She tossed them at Duckworth and they exploded into steam in an attempt to blind him. But Duckworth flew out above and transformed into Demonworth once more. Demonworth charged down at Magica and tried to thrash her with his claws. Magica ducked from the attack and shoved more curses to explode against him in fire. Demonworth roared in pain and charged back, only for firework curses to explode against him, sparks flying everywhere.

"Come on Duckworth, you can do it!" urged Webby.

"Fight that witch!" cheered Dewey.

"Magica doesn't stand a chance!" Lena grinned.

"You sure about that, you lousy creation?!" Magica snapped as she jammed a bigger sack of magic into Demonworth's face.

There was a fiery explosion that sent Demowerth flying into the lightning cage, electrocuting him so much that he transformed back into Demonworth.

"Duckworth!" the kids cried as he fell on top of the grass.

"Come on Duckworth, get up!" encouraged Huey.

"You can still fight her!" said Dewey.

Duckworth rubbed his head. "I never thought it was possible for a ghost to feel more pain… and yet here we are…" he groaned.

"Do what classic ghosts do!" said Louie.

"And what do classic ghosts do?" Duckworth grunted.

"You did the regular stuff already!" said Webby. "Levitating and morphing!"

"And you know what else ghosts do? HAUNT!" said Lena.

"Now get up and haunt that witch!" said Violet.

Duckworth slowly rose up as Magica came up to him.

"You're still going? Honestly, it's embarrassing what you're doing." she huffed. "These kids are doomed. And you're dommed a second time, Butler!"

Duckworth smirked. "You forget Magica… everything that's a part of the supernatural always has a trick up their sleeves… not just you!"

Duckworth phased through the ground.

Magica scoffed. "Diving down to the underworld won't help you!" she scoffed.

Then, a bright glow came from from the trees in the forest, followed by a ghostly wail. Magica rolled her eyes.

"Trying to create a haunted forest, Duckworth?" she snorted. "I'm not scared of you, y'know!"

Magica readied some curses as she ventured in looking for Duckworth.

"But you should be… you may have been around for a long time like Scrooge… but I've had more experience as a ghost…" came Duckworth's spooky voice.

A glowing blur emerged from a tree right past Magica, creating a chilly breeze.

"You're so cliché, you know that?!" Magica scoffed.

"Better cliché than evil…" he replied as he possessed another tree behind Magica. The tree branch then suddenly moved and knocked into Magica, making her yelp.

"Stop that!" she snapped. "You can't defeat me!"

A bunch of rocks suddenly levitated and struck her multiple times.

"Maybe not, but that won't stop me from trying!"

Duckworth then used hsi demon claws to scrape the tree bark. Magica looked around trying to find him, but he moved straight behind her and caused another chill. He possessed another tree that began to fire acorns at her. Magica yelped as she tried to throw a curse at the tree, but Duckworth flew out just as the curse exploded in fire, burning the tree. Magica was suddenly lifted up by her cape and then thrown into a bush.

"Agh! Hey! Stop that!" Magica yelped.

But Duckworth didn't respond. Magica tried to get up and look for him.

"Show yourself! Show yourself you wretched poltergeist!" she demanded, losing her cool.

But a low growl was all she heard. Magica looked around frantically, losing more of her cool. The air grew colder, the wind rushed around her, various pieces of the forest glowed around her.

"Stop it, stop it, STOP IT!" Magica yelled.

Magica then backed up against a tall oak tree. She turned around to see what she was up against… when Demonworth burst out of it!

"RAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWR!" he roared.

Magica screamed in fight as she threw her curses back while falling over.

The curses struck the lighting cage, destroying it and freeing the kids.

"Alright, we're free!" Dewey cheered as he flew in circles.

"Finally! It was getting cramped in there!" said Louie, dusting himself off.

"Ah, sweet fresh air and the smell of nature." smiled Huey.

"Yes Hubert, it is quite wonderful." said Violet.

Duckworth flew over to them.

"Duckworth, you did it!" cheered Webby.

"You saved us!" cheered Dewey.

"Thank you so much!" Lena said thankfully.

"It was nothing really." Duckworth said with a small smile. "I did have you six to thank for helping me."

Suddenly, Magica ran up with a roar.

"NO ONE MAKES A FOOL OUT OF ME!" she yelled, aiming another curse at Duckworth.

"Oh no you don't!" Lena snarled as she flew forward and into Magica's head. Her eyes glowed and Magica suddenly grinned. "Ha ha! Look at that! I'm in control!" Lena's voice sounded out from Magica's body. "How does it feel being possessed now, Magica De Spell?!"

The kids laughed and Duckworth managed a chuckle.

"Quite the karma." Duckworth mused.

"I think Magica could use a little more of a lesson for what she did to us!" suggested Louie.

"And to make sure she doesn't come back for us!" added Huey.

Duckworth watched in surprise as the five ghosts joined Lena inside Magica's head.

"Whoa! More cramped than normal!" came Dewey's voice.

"Well duh! There's too many minds in here!" came Huey's voice.

"Then let's do this quickly!" came Violet's voice.

Duckworth watched as the ghost kids forced Magica's body to crash into several trees. Time and time again they made her bash her head. With one quick effort, they slammed her into the oak tree and Magica fell over with a dizzy expression on her face.

The ghosts flew free from Magica's body, unpossessing her.

"Now that's more pain than I ever felt with you in control than you deserve…" sneered Lena.

Duckworth flew up to them. "Quite the idea you all had." he commented. "But I think it's time to get you all home and back to normal."

"Much agreed, Duckworth." nodded Violet.

McDuck Manor:

Webby used the Grimoire du Merlock book once more and soon she and her friends were back to their normal selves.

"Ah finally. Back in the flesh and feathers." Huey said happily.

"I really did miss my regular body." Louie mused.

"Glad that nightmare's over." said Lena.

"Yes, you should be." nodded Duckworth before growing stern. "Especially after the stunts I know you pulled on Mr. McDuck's enemies."

The kids' eyes widened.

"How did you know about that?!" asked Dewey.

Duckworth levitated over Louie's laptop and pressed play on a broadcast.

"This is Roxanne Feathery reporting such odd stories from billionaires Flintheart Glomgold and Mark Beaks claiming that six ghosts were haunting their companies." Roxanne reported. "A similar story was reported from the Beagle Family from the junkyard."

The kids winced as Duckworth paused the video.

"The number of ghosts, you lot acting odd, a missing book from Webby's bookshelf, and the people who reported being 'haunted' gave me a good idea of what you all did." he said.

The kids sighed.

"Okay fine, we did it." sighed Lena.

"We just wanted to see what it was like being a ghost like you!" said Dewey. "You know, without being dead."

"And we only haunted them because of all the trouble they've been causing Uncle Scrooge and all of us for years!" Louie quickly chimed in.

"But we weren't gonna hurt people! Honest!" said Webby. "At least no one that was innocent!"

Duckworth sighed. "I thought I made it clear before that being a ghost isn't all it is cracked up to be." he said. "And you put yourselves in danger in those forms. You haven't mastered such ghostly power like I have. And that was after I died."

"We know." sighed Huey. "We're sorry we weren't honest before we left."

"And for getting captured by Magica." added Violet.

"We are thankful that you saved us." Lena said with a small smile.

Duckworth could tell that they were sorry. "As am I, Lena." he said. "And I will agree with you, Scrooge's enemies can be quite irritating as they were back when I was alive compared to now. Perhaps they needed to be taken down several pegs. And you did help me stop Magica. And I honestly can't disagree with how you finished off her attack after all she's put this entire family through, especially you Lena."

"So… are we not in trouble?" asked Louie, hopeful.

"How about a compromise?" Duckworth suggested. "I do not tell the adults what happened, you help me clean up this mansion from top to bottom throughout the weekend."

"Oh what?! More chores?!" groaned Louie.

"Louie! We owe it to Duckworth!" Violet hissed.

Louie sighed. "Okay fine." he said, giving in.

"Very good." Duckworth nodded.

A couple of days later, the kids and Duckworth were finishing up dusting, moping, and sweeping the mansion clean just as the adults came back in through the front door.

"Scrooge, are you sure you don't wanna know more about this ghost thing in town?" Donald asked.

"Those enemies of mine probably had it coming after all the stunts they've pulled." Scrooge said dismissively. "Move on from it Donald."

Donald shrugged as the adults looked around.

"Wow! This place looks shiny!" commented Daisy.

"Duckworth, you've been quite busy!" commented Della.

"Actually, they have all helped me." Duckworth replied, gesturing to the kids.

"Cleaning is fun!" said Webby as she mopped.

"And the sneezing fits from dusting are only temporary!" added Dewey.

"Well I must say, you all have done a smashing job!" said Beakley, impressed.

"Thanks Mrs. B!" said Huey as he swept. "So, how was your trip?"

"Boring." the Duck Twins said in unison.

"The meeting was a success though." said Scrooge.

"And I only crashed twice!" Launchpad added.

"Sounds fun." quipped Louie.

"So did anything happen while we were gone?" asked Daisy.

"Not much. The kids were rambunctious as usual, but nothing you need to worry about." Duckworth replied. "Everything was under control."

"Fine with me!" said Scrooge. "Come along family, let's rest after all those hours on that plane."

And the adults left the front hall.

"All's well that ends well." Duckworth said before he found himself being hugged by the six kids.

"Thanks again for helping us…" smiled Webby.

"You were so brave." said Huey.

"We're lucky we have you in our lives, ghost or not." said Dewey.

"We can always count on you." said Lena.

"Best. Ghost butler. Ever." Louie said genuinely.

"You're more than a butler. You're our friend, Duckworth." said Violet with a smile.

Duckworth was genuinely touched as he returned the hug. "Much appreciated, my young friends." he said with a warm smile.

"I'm glad the worst is behind us." said Dewey as they eventually broke the hug and went back to cleaning.

F.O.W.L. HQ:

Bradford, Bentley, and Buford Buzzard angrily stood in front of Black Heron and Magica, the latter having bandages around her face and holding an ice pack to it.

"I cannot believe this." scowled Bradford. "My brothers and I go to the Lost Library for one weekend and you attempt to murder the Duck/McDuck family kids?!"

"They almost discovered our hideout!" Heron argued, folding her arms.

"So you thought going after them and trying to kill them was the best solution?!" asked Bentley.

"Well we are going to do that!" Magica retorted, moving her ice pack around. "Thought I'd start early before they discovered F.O.W.L. being back…"

"And by doing so, you almost painted a massive target on our backs!" snapped Buford. "We aren't ready to strike back yet."

"We're slowly building up our forces to be ready for when we do take the fight, not just to Clan McDuck, but all the Guardians of Light and their allies across the worlds!" added Bradford, gesturing to his agents, who were all sitting around the briefing table once more.

"Yeah, and this is only a chunk of us!" added Steelbeak. "...Right?"

"Of course it is!" said Phantom Blot. "Once we gain more help, we will be bigger and badder than the first incarnation of F.O.W.L.!"

"Especially since you have the right allies for the job now." added Negaduck with a sinister grin.

"I honestly thought Phantom Blot would hate Magica after she destroyed his old village." Pepper said to Gandra.

"She's been helping him build up his magic-stealing weapons." Gandra replied. "It helped that no one really died. She just wrecked it for kicks while Poe held her back from manslaughter."

"And I thought you would've learned your lesson after last time." Bradford scowled.

"Oh go easy on them Bradford." came a voice from the head of the table closest to the large monitor. The chair turned around to reveal Xigbar sitting in it, smirking. "After all, you were the one that wanted Steelbeak and Heron to get rid of the family after they came into Funzo's a while back. You know, that whole Intelligence Ray fiasco."

"He does have a point." Bentley conceded.

Bradford sighed. "I know! And I learned my lesson from that. And I thought they would follow my example. Clearly, I was wrong." he said.

"Yes, and they almost would've outed our Organization before we were ready to strike." added Buford.

"So what happens now?" asked Graves.

"Magica, you go back to recovering." Bradford said.

Magica nodded as she walked off.

"The rest of you, back to recon work outside this place." he said to the rest of his agents.

"Sure. Can do, Director Buzzard." Gandra shrugged.

"Better find my fellow Fearsome Five allies…" Negaduck muttered.

"Kinda hard for me!" Rockerduck pointed out.

Bradford sighed. "Jeeves, get back in his cryo freezer for the night."

Jeeves just groaned as carried his boss down the hall.

The other agents began to take their leave.

"Bentley, Buford, help Xigbar look out for the master. I have something to attend to." Bradford said to his brothers.

"Don't stray away too long!" Xigbar called with a smirk.

Bradford just rolled his eyes as he walked off.

Bradford went down to the gym where all the eggheads were stood in line formations like regular soldiers.

"Welcome Director Buzzard!" they all said in unison.

"At ease, Eggheads." said Bradford. He turned to their current instructor. "I trust everything is in order around here?" he questioned.

And who came out of the shadows? Someone who had been rescued from space.

"All going very well, Director Buzzard." General Lunaris smiled. "And can I say that I am deeply honored to be F.O.W.L.'s egghead soldier trainer. While it may seem like a downgrade from my position, it's nice being out of that ship and to be a part of a world-dominating organization."

"As long as you don't try to be a traitor again like you were to Della and your fellow Moonlander kind, I know this will all work out." Bradford replied.

"I won't be making that mistake." Lunaris said as he faced the eggheads. "Eggheads salute!"

They saluted.

"Blasters at the ready!"

They readied their blasters.

"Very good! Now hit the gym on the double!" Lunaris ordered.

"Sir, yes sir!" the eggheads said as they ran off.

"More competent than I remember." Bradford hummed. "Very good. Our little setup is getting better and better by the day."

"How long until we unleash F.O.W.L.'s wrath onto the world?" asked Lunaris.

"Patience, General." Bradford said as he pulled out a photograph. "Our plans are coming into fruition, bit by bit. And soon, it will all come together in the end."

He turned the photo around to reveal it as the McDuck family and their allies after the Moonvasion. Lunaris took out his blaster and fired, burning it. Bradford smirked at the burned picture.

"And our enemies will meet their ends too…" Bradford added with a sinister smirk.

Bradford and Lunaris chuckled darkly as they took their leave from the gym and back down the hall.

"Out of curiosity Bradford, has anyone betrayed F.O.W.L. before and lived to tell the tale?" asked Lunaris.

Bradford crumpled up the burnt picture. "Only Feathers Galore. And that was before F.O.W.L. fell the first time. After that, we took no more chances with traitors…" he said as he tossed the picture away.

The trashed up picture is the covered picture next to Feathers Galore's painting, making the cover fall off.

And on it, was a picture of another late F.O.W.L. agent who was marked as a traitor to them.

Victoria Red. Goofy's late wife/Max's late mother.

McDuck Manor:

While the family sat down to eat, Sora stood in the hallway, turning to the audience as he began to walk through the halls.

"Being a piece of the supernatural isn't always as it's cracked up to be. Experience is key. Duckworth has been a ghost for a long time. Huey, Dewey, Louie, Webby, Lena, and Violet did get the knack down. But they had no idea about Magica's little stunt to try and get them for revenge. Sometimes it's just good sticking to the life you got. And while it is nice to spruce things up every now and then, you oughta be careful. You never know when you may end up vulnerable to your enemies... or rather your rick uncle's greatest enemies."

Didn't expect that twist at the end, did you?! Now you know that Goofy's wife/Max's mom's death as described in Rescue of the Wielders wasn't an accident.

Anyways, rate and review and I'll see you in the next spooky story!

(1) Tugs - Burke and Blair are the same names as two boats.

Also, in case you didn't know about some mentioned F.O.W.L. characters:

Major Synapse, Hotshot, Flygirl, Ammonia Pine, Ample Grime, and the original High Command were members of F.O.W.L. in the 1987 series and Darkwing Duck.

Dr. NoGood was F.O.W.L.'s former leader in the 1987 series before the High Command took over, with Bruno VonBeak and Feathers Galore being agents as well, Galore turning to the good side.

I decided to make the 2017 version of Odduck, as well as Red Feather from the VR game be based off of actual late people from F.O.W.L., just to make things more interesting.

Just thought I'd add those in there.

Also, Magica and Phantom Blot's history is different here in this universe. Just my of making sure they're all on the same side for the bigger threat coming.

And Sora - narrator wise from the prologue - does not know about FOWL here. It's just presented outside the story he's telling. It's like we're seeing/reading bonus scenes from the story.
