Dante ran into the elevator. Her plans had failed and her world was crumbling. She needed to do something, she was losing. She panted. Time was running out.
At that point, she saw Gluttony come through the open doors, hissing like a mad beast.
Dante stepped back," Gluttony, it's your master, listen to your masterdear, don't" She clapped her hands quickly as Gluttony lunged at her. She placed her hands on her body-
Everything was white except for a single door in front of her. Without giving a second thought, Dante turned and ran into the void,"Can't believe that worked." She looked behind her, the Portal getting further and further away,"Can't believe this is working!" She chuckled,"Of course, I'm running into nothingness, but it's surely better than whatever that thing had planned for me."
She seemed to be running forever and ever. The white void stretched far and wide. Dante thought for a moment. She could be running forever, right? This was probably worse than getting eaten: being stuck forever in a void. Perhaps this was a mistake.
That is until she saw something in the distance. She came closer, noticing that there was a large gold gate, similar to the Portal. She stopped, looking it over.
"You shouldn't be here." A voice said.
She turned to the voice, seeing a blank figure in the shape of a woman,"You... I know you... but how?"
"I suggest you turn back, Dante. It's not a good idea to open that gate."
Dante turned to the gate," Why, what's behind it? Hell?"
"Let's just say that it opens a path to failure for you." The being said.
"Hmph," Dante headed towards the gate," Well, this is the first thing I've seen in a long time, I'll take my chances." She put a hand on it.
"Suit yourself." The being laughed as the door opened. Several black hands grabbed Dante, pulling her in.
Dante found herself within a small town filled with several people milling about. She looked on the street she was in before looking around,"Is this Amestris?" She walked backward and then bumped into someone.
"Whoa, you should watch where you're going, miss." A familiar voice entered her ears.
Dante snarled,"Hohenheim..." She whispered before turning to the man behind her. Sure enough, it was a blond man with a pair of small spectacles and a scruffy beard.
Hohenheim raised an eyebrow,"Do I know you?"
Dante smirked,"Oh you don't recognize me, do you?"
Hohenheim blinked,"Should I?"
Dante beckoned him towards an alley,"Let's talk somewhere private."
Hohenheim looked at his watch before sighing,"Alright, lady." He seemed more annoyed than anything else. It irked Dante. He should at least pretend to be perturbed.
He followed her into the alley where Dante smiled,"Perhaps you'd recognize my name, Dante?"
"... the old flower lady in Risembool?" Hohenheim asked.
Dante stared at him for a few seconds,"... You really don't know who I am, do you?"
"No." Hohenheim sighed,"Can I go now?"
"Take off your shirt." Dante demanded.
Hohenheim stared at her,"Very well." He took off his jacket, and then his shirt, revealing a sculpted, almost perfect chest,"Like what you see?" He joked.
Dante's eyes lingered over his chest for a few seconds before sighing,"I apologize, I mistook you for someone else."
This made Hohenheim's eyes widen a little," Wait, you mistook me for someone? Where?"
Dante turned,"It's not important. Even if I told you, there's nothing you could do about it."
Hohenheim's eyes softened," Alright." he turned and walked away.
Dante crossed her arms,"So, I'm in an alternate world. Does alchemy still work?"She clapped her hands and placed them on the ground. She created a small horse statue,"It does, but..." She frowned,"My alchemy is using tectonic plate energy. Something else though... it feels like it's being stunted, as if someone's keeping alchemy controlled. It's not something the people who lived here all of their lives would notice, but since I've just arrived..." She smiled,"That's brilliant! If I had that power..." She sighed,"It would not be a good idea for me to interact with any homunculus or whoever is leading this country. I need a place to think, to plan..."
Dante had found a mine in some out-of-the-way town. Perfect for her secret operations. She pretended to be one of the miners, an easy task for her, as she had just so happened to look exactly like the miner leader's secretary, Lyra.
At this point, she noticed that inside the mine was something more. A city, an underground city like the one she'd been to before. Perfect. She set up(Read: Transmuted) a small generator and proceeded to get to work on figuring out her situation.
As she began her writings in an abandoned foyer, she noticed footsteps. With a spin she saw,"Envy?"
The green-haired homunculus stared at her for a few minutes before laughing,"Am I famous or something?" they walked towards her.
Dante stammered,"I, er, saw a battle between you and the Fullmetal Alchemist..."
"You can cut it out." Envy said with a smile as they stopped in front of her,"You're clearly not from around here."
This made Dante frown,"..."
"Don't worry, we don't plan on killin' ya. Father merely wants to know how you got here and if you can share your research with him." Envy tapped their foot.
"..." Dante looked down, So the one controlling them is named Father... "On one condition." Dante said,"Give me a philosopher's stone."
Envy's eyes widened,"All right. I'm certain Father will oblige."
Dante smiled,Too easy...
At least it would be if a few days later a certain alchemist hadn't found his way to her.
Dante landed on a strange street. She noticed several lamps and people in strange clothing walking around her,"Where..." She looked around, walking towards a small bridge over a river,"This isn't Amestris..." She gasped before keeling over in pain,"Damn, my body's giving out! Got... to... do something..." The pain burned throughout her body before she collapsed onto the floor.
When she awoke next, she found that she was perfectly fine. She got up and looked down her dress. She pulled it open a bit, taking note of decay slowly being regenerated over her breast. She looked over the edge of the bridge to look at her reflection, noting the slitted eyes and pale complexion. She looked at her hand, noting the elongated nails,"Am I a vampire? Do those exist in this world?" She hummed, before getting up and walking into a forest nearby,"I should look for shelter and figure out my new powers. So far, I have regeneration," She entered the woods, noticing that her vision began to shift into a more greenish color," Night vision, makes sense. I'm nocturnal. Do I die or am I just weakened by sunlight?"
"Demon!" a male voice shouted.
Dante frowned,"I am busy..." She turned to the voice, noticing a boy in a black uniform pointing a katana at her,"What are you?"
"I will say nothing to you! Water breathing-"
Dante clapped her hands and slammed them into the ground, grabbing the boy in a giant earthen hand. She walked to him, watching him struggle,"Now, can we please chat? I currently have no idea what's going on, I am trying to figure myself out, and you are interrupting my scientific study!" She grabbed his head and pulled him closer, allowing her to see his frightened eyes,"I don't like getting interrupted, got it!?"
The boy whimpered, before nodding.
"Good." Dante stepped back.
"You gonna eat that?"
Dante turned to see a shirtless man crawling on the ground. His head was rotated 180 degrees. He had a long spindly tongue and some kanji on his forehead,"You heard me."
"What? Why would I eat him? Shouldn't I drink his blood?" Dante asked.
"You're not a vampire. You're a demon." The creature said,"A pretty smart one too. Most just go feral after they've been turned."
Dante looked down at her chest,"I guess I'm special. Who are you?"
"Name's Jinmen. I'm a demon too, obviously."
"Help!" The boy shouted.
"You might want to kill that demon slayer before his buddies show up." Jinmen said.
Dante threw her elbow back, slamming into the boy's head hard enough to snap his neck back, killing him,"Well, now I know I have super strength."
"Good, he'll make a good meal." Jinmen said."Say, why don't I help you out? You seem like a strong woman, far stronger than me. You fight off demon slayers, I teach you how demons work, and we share our meals. What do you say?"
Dante looked up at the night sky, her mind wandering,"Very well."
Dante chewed on the boy's leg as she listened to Jinmen,"Demons can't handle sunlight, that's the first thing you must know. Second, each demon has a special ability, a blood art if you will. We all have a unique one, we just don't know about it at first."
"What is yours?" Dante asked.
"I can use the voices of my victims to my advantage. Perfect for catching prey." Jinmen said,"What about you?" He noticed her contemplative look,"Don't worry, you'll find your ability soon. It might even come up on your next hunt."
"Wait, if demons can die via sunlight, why are demon slayers so feared?" Dante asked.
"It's their swords. They're made with a special metal that's imbued with sunlight." Jinmen explained.
Dante wanted to say how unscientific that was but opted against it.
Dante walked the dark forest,"Demon Slayers also know special sword arts that make them hard to track and fight." Jinmen explained as he went from tree to tree,"They have a hierarchy as well, the strongest ones are Hashira. I suggest you run from them, nothing short of an Upper Moon can take them on."
"What's an Upper Moon?" Dante asked.
"Upper Moon and Lower Moon are two ranks of demons higher than us. And they are closer to the Demon King. They are powerful beings that have been known to kill a hashira." Jinmen explained. He then stopped,"I smell a demon slayer."
A girl in black came into view. She had her hair done in a ponytail,"Akira? Akira where are you?"
"Here." Jinmen said, mimicking the voice of the boy from before.
The girl stopped,"Akira, what's my name?"
"..."
Dante stepped up to her,"Akira won't be seeing you."
The girl gasped,"A demon..." She pulled her sword out,"You monster!" She swung at Dante.
Dante responded by striking her fingers into her neck. The girl screamed in agony as Dante's own fingers began to pulsate and throb. Her skin began to become emaciated and decayed, her eyes sunk in, her organ slowly rotted before her body become a limb husk.
Dante's eyes closed as her body began to shift into the form of the girl. She looked at her hands,"..."
"Was that your blood art?" Jinmen asked from behind her,"You just took her form!"
Dante laughed,"The more things change, the more they stay the same." She then said,"Her name was Sayori. She was a water-breathing user. And we killed her brother moments before."
"And you gained her knowledge!" Jinmen laughed,"How useful!"
"Indeed. It's not flashy, but it suits me just fine." Dante smiled as she took Sayori's sword.
Months passed as Dante and Jinmen hunted. They moved through the forests and mountains.
Eventually, all things must come to an end.
Dante had left Jinmen on his own to handle another wandering demon slayer. She then came back to see the sun rising over the horizon,"I'm late..." She noticed Jinmen to the side, a pike on his back,"Jinmen!"
"Hey..." Jinmen moaned,"I got stabbed by one of those bastards. They decided to let the sun do it's work... you need to..." He gasped as the sun hit Dante's back...
And nothing happened.
He began to laugh,"So... you are immune to sunlight." Jinmen laughed,"You are special."
Dante smiled,"Indeed." She turned,"I'm more powerful than you."
"So you leave without a good bye... I suppose I'm not surprised." Jinmen's body began to burn,"If our roles were switched, I'd do the same..." He laughed before burning away,"Good bye..."
Dante walked forward. New information and power in hand, she began to find a place to research.
It was later when a certain boy and his group of friends found her.
Dante awoke on a couch in a familiar foyer,"Am I here again?"
"Hey Mother, you're awake." Envy leaned over, looking at her.
Dante got up,"So I am... this is going to sound strange, but who is the oldest of you?"
Envy blinked,"Pride, why?"
"Bring Pride here."
"Very well..." Envy gave a confused look.
Dante winced, she suddenly had a flash of memory, of a Hohenheim-looking figure giving her power, of a demon killing someone in front of her,"Memories? Then I know what happened... If this is happening to me, then it's happening to them." She stopped when a young boy entered the room.
"You called, Mother?" Pride asked.
"..." Dante closed her eyes,"Give me a recap of everything that's happened so far."
"Fine..." Pride said,"It all began 1000 years ago..."
A demon sat in the front a train, letting his hair blow back from the opened window. His eye showed that he was ranked Lower-1 of the Kizuki. His name was Enmu, and he could control dreams. He walked towards the back, wanting to admire his handiwork.
At least, that's what he wanted to do. He noticed that one person was awake and smiling at him. It was a woman with bob cut hair and a long purple dress,"How are you-"
In an instant, the woman sped up to him, grabbing his hand,"... Do you want power?"
"Power?" Enmu asked.
"The power to conquer the sun, the power to break free of your chains?" The woman asked.
"... My chains... you mean..." Enmu frowned. He wanted a place in the Upper Moons in forever. But the Demon King never let him. Can this woman really provide him with more power,"... Yes."
Dante produced a red stone,"Here you go... my Archdemon."
