After the final battle, Diana searched for the pilots who had survived the attack. That is until she found who she was looking for.
"Steve." Diana said as she rushed towards her fiance and hugged him tightly.
"Whoa, calm down angel. I told you, I'm going anywhere." Steve said, though he could see Diana was still worried.
"I know you can handle anything the world throws at you, even though you're not the one of us with superpowers, but when you go charging into fights like this one, I can't help but worry. Especially since I already know that you're going to make me a widow someday, since we both know that I'll outlive you by a considerable amount." Diana said.
"We knew that going into this Diana. I hope you're not having any regrets." Steve said as they sat down on a bench and watched the repair efforts being made by humans, since the other League members had returned home to see their loved ones, since they'd been too focused on the war to really give their loved ones any attention until now.
"Of course not. You know that I love you more than anything in this realm or any other and that's why I worry, just like how you worry about me even though you know that there's nothing on this planet that can kill me." Diana said and Steve smiled.
"We've both chosen dangerous lines of work Diana. And I've been flying dangerous missions since long before we met. Hell, one of those missions is the reason we met." Steve reminded her.
"I know. And believe me, no one is more grateful than I am about that. But it doesn't change the fact that I worry about you. Going up against normal human forces is one thing, but Atlantis, fights like those are fights meant for me and my new team. You got lucky this time, but I don't want there to be a next time." Diana said.
"I have to be true to who I am, Diana. And who I am is a man of action. I fight the good fight to protect people who can't just like you do." Steve said.
"I know and I'm not asking you to give up your job. I'm asking you to stay out of League fights. Leave them to us. Your fighting spirit is one of the reasons I fell in love with you. And it's because I love you that I'm asking you to not make me a widow before we even get married. I'll stay out of it when it comes to your regular air force job, since those matters don't concern me, but promise me that when it comes to crises meant for the League, you'll leave them to me." Diana said as she cupped her fiance's chin with her hand and Steve could she was serious about this.
"You really feel this strongly about it?" Steve asked.
"I do. I've lost so much in this war already that I consider it a miracle that you survived. I can't lose you too." Diana said, though she also thought about everything she'd gained during the war.
"What did you lose?" Steve asked and Diana sighed.
"Atlantis sank Themyscira during the war. Only a handful of my people survived, including my mother, though she and I still don't see eye to eye." Diana said.
"How bad?" Steve asked, since he was aware of Diana's relationship with her mother, since he felt guilty that he was the reason for it.
"Don't blame yourself for what happened Steve. Things between my mother and I were deteriorating long before you showed up. But my mother was so stubborn and set in her ways that she was willing to let all of our people die rather than order an evacuation." Diana said.
"So what happened?" Steve asked.
"I challenged her for the throne and I won." Diana said.
"So you're a Queen now?" Steve asked in shock.
"And a much wiser queen than I ever was or could ever hope to be." A new voice said as Diana saw her mother Hippolyta walk up to her.
"Mother?" Diana asked, since she'd never expected to hear words like that come from her mother's mouth.
"You were right Diana. I was a coward who allowed my fear of the outside world to keep us hidden away, not just from the world, but from our true natures. We are warriors. Something I was reminded of today watching our sisters fight alongside your friends. It reminded me of the days of old. Perhaps I was too quick to judge man's world and this man especially." Hippolyta said as she looked at the man who would become her son-in-law.
"Does that mean what I hope it means?" Diana asked and Hippolyta smiled.
"Yes, I give your relationship my blessing and since your father obviously won't attend the wedding, hopefully I will be able to." Hippolyta said and Diana smiled.
"Of course, but you know that I already decreed that you have to face some punishment for the role your complacency and stubbornness played in the deaths of our sisters and the sinking of our home." Diana said.
"And I will accept whatever punishment my queen sees fit." Hippolyta said and Diana smiled.
"Before today, I was thinking something harsh, but now, I have a different punishment in mind. Especially given what I learned while I was on Hephaestia." Diana said.
"What's Hephaestia?" Steve asked.
"Long story, but the important thing is, I found out that I have a brother and a younger sister." Diana said.
"What?" Both Steve and Hippolyta said in shock, since while she'd known about Jason, she was surprised to find out that Diana had a younger sister.
"It turns out that father had another child with a mortal who's been growing up in Hephaestia, an island of male Amazons, under the care of my younger twin brother Jason. But now she wants to come and experience the outside world with me. My first thought was that we'd take her in Steve, but since I don't think either of us are in a position to take in a teenager, I have a better idea." Diana said.
"I agree with you about that. While I'm open to being a father at some point, not yet." Steve said.
"Nor am I ready to be a mother figure. But I think that there's a more qualified candidate. Mother, you are exiled to live in the world of men and more importantly, you will be the caretaker of my younger sister Donna, since while I will train her, she needs someone to take care of her and you're the best candidate, since you've already raised one daughter of Zeus, it's time do it again." Diana said and Hippolyta smiled.
"I accept. How long will my exile last?" Hippolyta asked.
"Until Donna is ready to move on to the next stage of life without needing a full time parent." Diana said and Hippolyta nodded.
