Pathfinder's Log, my workshop is established, and we've had several irritating interactions with native faction politics. Unfortunate, but an expected result of making a deal with such factions, and we need access to their knowledge and scholars to make use of their resources and knowledge. Such as meeting with this Archmage Krasus, who was interviewing us, a polite word for interrogating us, though I suspect he might be the usual elven sort. He had a glamour upon himself, a strong one, seemingly to be prettier or less obvious to the human eye. Elves can be vain like that Sasha would tell me.
Still, beyond initially being suspicious of myself, the Archmage has indicated a scholarly willingness to help with the project of finding any portals to beyond this plane. I've received the details of the existing portals, to the one that brought forth the original invasion from Draenor as it was called, and yet another to a place called Outland. Which was…is?...the remains of that world after it was destroyed, yet elements of it remained habitable clearly enough, or according to reports. The orcs know more there, as that particularly grating one, Garrosh, is supposedly from that plane. Or is it just another world on this plane?
I lean towards that being the case rather than interplanar or inter-dimension shifting. Potentially temporal effects – which was a question as well during the discussion obviously enough. While somewhat limited in the details that can be provided, the truth of various types of temporal defences and how our own function, had to be touched upon in generalised terms. Since that is acceptable within approved protocols, I have undertaken the trade of information as gaining the support, not just indifference, of this world's mage organisation would be a boon. They seem to, moderately, neutral between these factions, if Alliance leaning mayhap, but with an undead king war on the horizon…
*snorting sound*
Well, who knows what they'll do? Seems several of their members went Necromancer in the not so distant past, so, that seems politically and culturally unacceptable here. At least on the human side, though they, like most species here, seem to be in some stages of societal collapse.
Oh, yeah, had time to do an initial survey, albeit based on interviews and locally supplied maps and documentation. The result is a question. How many decades more does this civilization have before total collapse?
And it is an important question, if not entirely to myself and my team…as we aren't going to be here to see that occur. Or, well, we don't intend too anyway. Still, it was an important question to the locals I was discussing such matters with, in this case the Archmage, the Mage-Lord, her advisors, and the Warchief's advisors when asking over drinking. As it isn't exactly a secret matter, and I have formed an opinion with supporting evidence, albeit sparce and initial, I discussed the matter. Which was largely concerning why would time travelling dragons want such a result.
Because the question there is not so much why, but when such forces would gain their desired result!
Baring a severe course change the obvious factors here indicate very bad things for society in the next few generations, even if they all ally together and crush this Undead Scourge. Even victory could lead to an unavoidable collapse based on my training and some of it is even textbook underlying post-victory apocalypse scenario. But that plays into active time travelling defenders – they get to reshape society after such a collapse potentially, or, well, the other results were worse in the short to medium term for them. But, but…in a few centuries, or millennia, things might turn to a utopia or something.
I explained that we, the League I mean, have records of such civilization-ending events leading to new civilizations and general time shenanigans. Which I'm in the suit to record this, because can't give the names in detail, but did give the example of the known things like even the Dragon Breaks of Mundus, or the destruction and new civilizations of the likes of the DC-multiverses. That there are factions of time travelling dragons clearly fighting a time war…yeah…yeah. When the End Result is matters as much as what the End Result is intended to be. And, no, we are not selling our remaining dimensional anchors. Study of the deployed ones are acceptable though.
Log ended; I need sleep it seems.

We've a wedding to attend in too many days. Which is also a big diplomatic mess as not so-small army just arrived outside the city, and various powerful wizards and a king, and others just arrived in the city via magic teleportation and ship. But I have my agreements, and even if we have to play at being the exotic animals to gawk at -well, we have our terms, and at least this time there's an army's worth of security around us. And, good to have, other, more valuable targets than ones such as our humble selves. We shall give a gift, or gifts in this case, of a sword and a staff to the Warchief and Mage-Lord respectively. Yes, yes, one imagines the sarcasm and mockery from certain friends already that we are playing such games.
They are not here. One is though, and training Janet, who has some training, and Mayuko, who hath none, means we must make such accommodation. Just as on Janet's plane, on the Earth invaded plane. So, that means making things not just for us, but as a gift for leaders, and then for sale to ensure we have local coinage to purchase materials. Then we shall hire guards once vetted, train and equip them, before seeking out whatever dimensional area that can be located. If we have mages to aid that, then we can teleport, or if not, sail with mage assistance, to locations. For one fears Kalimdor might not be the location needed, or at the very least one is increasingly certain that there is nothing nearby beyond our entry point.
Moreso we may need to travel to this Dark Portal, closed as it may be, to see to its mechanics and background energies to locate more. Perhaps, I'd hope not, as it would be major pressure, and danger, to seek to travel across the world to those ruined lands. Even the fact it is called the Blasted Lands is no great encouragement. Understandable as the site of the initial invasion, but much of that continent seems to have been worse off than this continent is currently under. Maybe we won't have to. Assembling a long-distance ley-line scanner will take time, just like everything else, so here we are.
Janet is holding up well, better than hoped, though learning magic isn't the goal for now. Such things are difficult, especially with her current knowledge base to confuse her further. Instead we are to build upon that knowledge, as we've been doing till now, just more formalised as I've set her pip-boy wrist-comp with more detailed medical knowledge and basic medicus manuals. We have stimpaks and various other medicus alchemical supports to work with after all. She will, like Mayuko, need how to learn beast-riding, either horse, or wolf-beast, as this world has upon it. Natives mildly confused by such, as Janet has the airs of a noble, yet lacks what they consider such skills of one. Not even talking of her lack of 'faith' in this 'Light' faith of theirs either. That is a troublesome subject as this world has fallen, its people suffered, and general anger at 'others' is quite high. Societal extremes, as with gnomes seeking our knowledge by whatever means, is clearly driven to greater heights by such horrors.

Change of plan, opted for a dual pair of very elaborate knives, rune etched, and gem mounted. Time is against forging a sword, on a knew forge, with my skills…
*Sound of sighing*
Identical knives with sheaths one can do and have prepared and infused with arcane energies while also fitting in with the gift idea. The sword and staff can be a later plan, one more ambitious than sensible really. With such guests arriving, and army beyond the walls, we have time to train and for myself to finish this product. No disturbances or questions. No scrying attempts now wards are established. None that my wards detected at the very least. Of course…my wards are those of an assistant medicus not a true wizard, let alone a Mage-Lord, so that is not saying a great now is it?
Learn the local magic the captain might say.
The study of a lifetime that! Not that one won't try learn what one can, or is forced to be circumstance. Still…a wedding feast awaits, and, work and travel if we can avoid troubles.
May the Lord be with us in our endeavours.
