After walking alongside Keine for some minutes, we finally reach her house. It wasn't any super expensive looking house, but it looked pretty nice compared to the other houses in this village.

We get inside and Keine takes off her goofy ahh block-house whatever hat thing and faces me.

"Well, here we are, the guests room is just right next to the bathroom, I suggest you go take a bath, you smell kind of… strong"

Keine furrows her brows and pinches her nose.

Ah shit, right, I forgot I still smell like weed and since I woke up lying on the ground I'm also dirty as hell. AND I also don't have another set of clothes, cool.

"Yeah about that, I uhmmm….. don't have another set of clothes"

"I've figured as much, there's some spare yukata's in a closet, I'll leave one in the guests room so you can change in it after you're done"

After thanking her for the hospitality I make my way to the bathroom. Surprisingly the bathroom was actually pretty modern, it had a shower and a real toilet (finally).
Finishing taking a bath and doing a shit, I go to the guests room and find a blue yukata folded on top of the bed.
Changing into it I discover it's actually pretty comfortable to wear, damn where were these things when I was in the outside world, it's like wearing a fresh bathrobe.

I throw myself to the bed and quickly end up falling into a deep sleep

-The next day-

Waking up to this new morning I inmediately notice that, its motherfucking hot, like seriously it wasn't this hot yesterday. Keine may have a working bathroom but she sure as hell doesn't have an air conditioner.

Stepping outside of the guests room I find Keine by the living room drinking something from a cup, I hope its not coffee because how can you drink coffee with this damned heat.

"Hey Keine" I said while giving her a wave.

She puts down the cup she was drinking from and looks at me

"Good morning…. You've never told me your name"

Crap she's right, I didn't even thought about giving her my name yesterday.

"Oh, right, my name's Nick"

She raises an eyebrow

"No surname?"

Oh right, my surname is… I don't remember my surname, fuck it, just throw something.

"John Souls"

She gives me a blank stare

"…John Souls?"

"Yes" I say that with the straightest face possible

"…..Nick John Souls"

"Yes"

"…..Alright, good morning, Nick-san"

…..Right, this place has japanese influence, of course they're gonna have those prefixes or whatever they're called, japanese influence or not no fucking way I'm gonna go around calling everyone –san, –kun or whatever, that hits me straight in the cringe bone.

"Err-yes, good morning to you too, Keine"

I stare at the cup she was holding and began asking her.

"What are you drinking?"

"Hmm? This is tea"

Ew.

"Epic, do you perhaps have coffee?"

"Coffee? I heard about it but never tried it, I wasn't really interested on it"

"Shit"

"Language"

"Sorry, anyways, I wanted to talk with you about something, Keine"

I sit down on one of the table's chair, put my hands like in that one position which Shinji's father does, and say with a serious expression as Keine watches me curiously.

"…I can't read jackshit"

Despite being bothered by my swearing, Keine lets it pass to respond me.

"….You don't know how to read? Strange, almost all of the outsiders that reach Gensokyo know how to read and speak japanese. Though I never met one that talked japanese but didn't know how to read it"

Wait, now that she mentions it, how the fuck can I understand her when everything is in japanese here? And I'm sure I've never taken japanese classes before, well its no use to think about it now.

"Yeah, terrible, I know. I wanted to ask you if you could teach me how to read"

She puts down her cup

"As much as I would like to spare time to teach you, Nick-san, I've got to attend my students at school and take care of the village's problems from time to time"

Well shit, looks like I'll be stuck being an illiterate dumbass here.

"But don't fret, I have this book written in this [Engrish] language, you may be able to read it, a certain someone gave it to me saying it could come handy just in case someone didn't knew japanese"

…..Does she mean english? Such book seems too coincidentally helpful for my situation but hey, I'm not complaining.

Keine goes towards her room (or atleast I think it is) and comes back with a yellow book, she hands it over to me, I take it and stare at the cover…..

Its Japanese For Dummies, ok.

"So, can you read it?"

"Yes… I can"

She smiles.

"Good, seems like it did come in handy after all"

Brushing aside my thoughts about how the fuck this book got here, I decide to ask Keine a question.

"Hey Keine, is there someone around the village that makes those things? I mean things like the shower and the toilet, they seem pretty out of place here considering how old fashioned all the rest of things are"

"Oh? Those were new inventions from the kappa, they usually tend to just keep to themselves, creating things near the waterfall of the [Youkai Mountain], but you can get them to make something for you for a deal"

So there's a group of engineers around? I think I should pay a visit to these kappa and see if I can strike a deal to make them build shit for me.
Wait, I don't have money, and judging from the name of the place its pretty much a home for the man eating monsters.
Great, oh right, I also forgot to mention that there's a battle system with spellcards here, people shoot at eachother something called danmaku, which in short words are flying magic bullets, which is also something I don't know how to do.

I let out a sigh

There's so much shit to take into account that its getting pretty complicated to keep track, I should make a to do list, yes thats it, I'll do that.
Welp, now that I know who the creative people of this place are, I gotta who find a job because I really don't wanna be a freeloader to Keine, learn danmaku to defend myself and among other things.

I take a look around and notice Keine is gone.

Oh, seems like she went to do her job as a teacher while I was busy thinking what to do,
well, sitting here won't get things done so I should get going too.

I stand up from the chair and walk towards the door leading to the outside, putting my hand over the knob and turning it. I reveal the outside showing the calm streets of the village and the still shining sun high in the sky.
