Mario woke up and he coughed a bit. His clothes and gloves were covered in dust, but as far as he knew he still was in one piece. He groaned as he stood up. The broken pieces of the castle sliding off his body. He stood up and saw the sky on fire. Warships flew above the sky, surrounding the entirety of the kingdom. Their hulls reflect the burning town.
"Urgh… Luigi," he said.
He looked around the crumbled down castle, searching for his brother.
"Luigi? Luigi!" he called.
He could hear muffles as Luigi's green hand popped out of some debris. He ran to it and grabbed it and pulled his brother out.
Luigi took deep breaths, "Thanks Mario." "You okay bro?" Mario asked. "Yeah, I'll be fine," Luigi said as he looked around, "What happened?" "I think I can guess who," Mario said.
The two brothers looked around at the sky as the airships flew around the border. Front and center of the kingdom is a giant floating rock with lava pouring down and at the center of the rock is the giant stoned menacing face of Bowser.
"Come on, let's go find everyone else," Mario said. "Yeah, let's go," Luigi said.
The two brothers searched the ruins of the castle as Bowser's floating island landed in front of the kingdom. Hundreds of Koopa Troopas rolled out of the island and formed into military lines. They held spears and they tapped their spears to the ground with a menacing rhythm. Then Kamek appeared in front of the army and the Koopas stopped tapping their spears.
"Behold! The King of the Koopas!" Kamek announced as he tapped his wand to the ground.
The giant stoned face of Bowser opened its mouth as Bowser's menacing figure walked out. He walked in the middle of his army as he approached the front.
"Open the gates!" he demanded.
Everything was silent until the roars of two engines came through and smashed the gate. Wario and Waluigi abruptly screeched as they braked and ended up right in front of Bowser.
"All yours boss," Wario said. "Finally. You idiots have done something competent for once," Kamek said. "Oh, but we must tell you that Mario is in there. He was in the castle before you blew it up," Waluigi said. "Mario," Bowser said with hate, "That plumber won't know what will hit him. This is my chance to finally destroy him and rule the entire world!" "And for us to get paid," Wario said.
Bowser's mouth brightened up with a sinister fire and heat waves appeared from it and he blasted fire at the gate, completely burning and melting it down. Bowser then faced his army.
"Koopas! Today is the day the Mushroom Kingdom falls!" Bowser yelled.
The Koopas cheered as they charged into the town. The Toads ran all over as the Koopas were quickly taking over the town with no struggle. They grabbed torches and began burning Toad Houses down. They smashed the merchandise sold by the Toads, and then they brought down the various flags and replaced them with their own. Meanwhile, Mario finished off finding the others by lifting Toadsworth out of the rubble.
"Why thank you Master Mario. I thought I was surely a goner," Toadsworth said. "Hey, you still have a couple of years left to live," Mario said. "I truly hope so, Master Mario," Toadsworth said.
Peach stood on top of her broken castle while the wind whistled loudly with bits of choking dust and smoke flying, yet her face was one of determination. Everyone else walked towards her, standing by her, with Mario right to her side.
"Right now our priority is to get the Toads out of here safely," Peach said. "My word Princess, there is an entire army out there," Toadsworth said. "Eh, we faced worse before," Mario said. Peach nodded, "Right now, there are people down there scared." "Hey, I'm with you toots!" Daisy said. "I can't ask that of you," Peach told Daisy. "Girl! You don't even need to ask. I'll always be there for you," Daisy said.
Peach took out a remote button from her dress. She pressed the large red button and a small area of rubble fell deeper into the ground as four vehicles rose from a platform. Two bikes and two karts.
"Hey, you kept them?" Mario asked. "You never know when we might need them," Peach said. "Touche," Mario said.
Peach faced Toadsworth, Toad, Toadette, and Yoshi.
"Yoshi, I'm gonna need you to give them a ride to safety," Peach told him. "Yoshi can do it! Yoshi can do it!" Yoshi said. "Now Princess, I insist I must stay with you," Toadsworth said. "I can't risk more Toads getting hurt, Toadsworth, but I'm going to give you four a special task," Peach said. "A special task?" Toadette asked. "I'm going to need you four to head to the Kongo Jungle and get help from Donkey Kong," Peach said. "That ape? Are you sure we need him?" Mario asked. "We're going to need all hands on deck," Peach said. "What about you Princess?" Toadsworth asked. "I'll be fine. We'll be fine. We'll all meet up after we get the Toads out," Peach said. Toadsworth had a worried expression, "Alright… Just be careful Princess. I couldn't bear to see anything bad happening to you."
Peach nodded as the Toads hopped on Yoshi.
"Guys, take care," Luigi said. "We will Luigi. Off to the Kongo Jungle Yoshi!" Captain Toad yelled. "WAH OH! YOSHI!" Yoshi exclaimed as he began to run off.
Mario and Luigi hopped onto their karts as Peach and Daisy revved up their bikes.
"Remember, let's get the Toads out. Make sure we don't leave anybody behind," Peach said. "Right behind you Princess," Mario said.
The vehicles sped off towards the small Toad Town. In the meantime, the Koopa Troopas began to force Toads out of their homes while the Wario brothers sped through their bikes, tossing nets over them.
"Wa ha ha ha! This is the best job ever!" Wario exclaimed. "Yeah! We get to bully for money!" Waluigi yelled. "More people should do this!" Wario yelled.
Mario's kart flew over the two bikes. He fiercely turned the wheel and spun the kart around as he stared them down as they landed on the ground.
"Hiya fellas!" Mario said. "Mario! You survived!" Wario yelled. "WAH! Get him!" Waluigi yelled. "Catch me if you can!" Mario yelled.
Mario burnt rubber and sped off in between the Wario brothers as the Wario brothers sped off to chase him. The Koopa Troopas surrounded the netted Toads and then a ring of green surrounded them and Luigi arrived.
"How about some of this?" Luigi asked.
Luigi brought out a fire flower and burst out fire like a flamethrower which caused the Koopa Troopas to run away, screaming. Then Luigi took the net off the Toads.
"Thank you Luigi," a Toad said. "Yeah, hopefully the princess is in another castle," the other Toad said. "Yeah, no problem. Make sure to get away from here," Luigi said. "Will do," the Toads said.
The Toads ran away as another explosion happened at the nearby Toad House. Debris was falling and Luigi sped off before it fell on top of him. Meanwhile Peach and Daisy had freed some Toads while driving.
"Quickly! Evacuate!" Peach ordered. "Yeah! What she said!" Daisy yelled.
Peach quickly diverted her bike as a cannonball landed where she was. Hovering in the sky was Bowser Jr.
"Ha ha ha ha!" Bowser Jr. laughed. "Junior," Peach said. "You! Soon my Papa will take over and soon you will have to be my Mama!" Bowser Jr. yelled. "Oh please. In his dreams," Daisy sarcastically said with a roll of her eyes. "Oh! Stay out of this!" Bowser Jr. pouted.
The two princesses revved their bikes and drove off, with Bowser Jr. close behind.
"Hey! Stop running!" Bowser Jr. yelled.
He shot out cannonballs and the princesses were dodging each projectile. Bowser Jr. began having tantrums and shot out the cannonballs even faster.
"Dang! This kid can miss!" Daisy yelled, "I thought you were using aimbot? I guess you just suck!" "Oh!" Bowser Jr. pouted.
As Bowser Jr. chased the princesses, in another part of the Toad Town, Mario sped through the streets as the Wario brothers chased him.
"I bet Mario's not going to like this!" Waluigi yelled. "What is it?!" Wario asked.
Waluigi held a banana peel in his hands and he threw it pathetically in front of him and his tires got trapped in it as he was flung off his bike and he landed on a moldy pie.
"Argh!" Wario complained.
Wario revved his bike to the limit as he rode it next to Mario's kart.
"You'll pay for that Mario!" Wario yelled. "For what? He's the one who threw the banana?" Mario asked. "You instigated it!" Wario yelled. "I'm surprised you know that word," Mario said. "ARGH!" Wario yelled.
Wario tried to slam his bike next to Mario's kart but Mario pressed the brakes and let Wario's bike slam into a wall which made Wario get thrown off his bike and he landed on another rotten pie as Mario drove past him.
"See ya later!" Mario yelled.
Mario continued to drive around the Toad Town at full speed, searching for any Toads as then he met up with his brother.
"Looks like that's everyone," Mario said. "Yeah. Now what?" Luigi asked. "Now, we go find Bowser," Mario said.
Out of nowhere, a large explosion happened in between the brothers' karts, causing their karts to fly off the ground. Their karts smacked the ground as they landed on the floor, bruised and dirtied.
"Oh, found him," Luigi said. "Yeah, figured as much," Mario said as he stood Luigi up. "MARIO!" Bowser screamed.
In the cloud of dust, the fiery breath of Bowser appeared as he walked through the smoke. His fiery aura was radiating while his eyes were red with evil and anger.
"You! I'll finally get my revenge!" Bowser yelled. "I'd like to see you try you big turtle!" Mario yelled.
Bowser roared as he charged at Mario. He then jumped and launched his fire breath at the plumber. Mario swiftly dodged the blazing ray of fire, quickly grabbing a flame and spinning around and tossing it. Bowser jumped out of the way.
"Take this!" Luigi yelled as he tossed a rock at Bowser. "A rock?! What's a rock going to do?!" Bowser asked. "I'd say it makes a pretty good distraction," Luigi said. "WHAT!?" Bowser yelled. "Heeyah!" Mario yelled as he gave Bowser a fiery punch in his cheek.
Peach and Daisy continued to drive around the Toad Town as Bowser Jr. chased after them. He still shot cannonballs towards the princesses.
"He won't let up!" Daisy yelled.
Peach quickly observed her surroundings, looking, until she found a rooftop that seemingly looked like a ramp. She then noticed a piece of rope lying around ahead of her.
"I got an idea," Peach said. "Oh, I see. The old tie em' up plumber routine. I remember using that move on Luigi all the time," Daisy said.
Daisy swiftly made a hard right, while Peach drove ahead with Bowser Jr. on her tail.
"Oh you! Your friend left you! Now you're all alone and now you can be my Mama!" Bowser Jr. yelled. "Oh yeah, I want to see you try this!" Peach yelled.
Peach made a hard left and swiftly grabbed the rope and launched herself onto her rooftop and launched herself into the air as Daisy launched herself from the opposite rooftop. Peach tossed the rope and Daisy caught it as they got Bowser Jr. in a tie. They landed on the ground and they drove in circles, spinning Bowser Jr. into getting tied up.
"No! No! No!" Bowser Jr. pouted. "Well Junior, I think that makes you grounded," Daisy said. "WAH!" Bowser Jr. cried. "Let's go!" Peach said.
Daisy nodded and they drove off. Meanwhile, Mario and Luigi faced off against Bowser. Bowser tried to slice and dice them while Luigi was keeping distance and Mario was jumping over him.
"Come on King Bowser!" Mario yelled as he grabbed his tail and spun him and threw him at a building. "Urgh!" Bowser yelled as smoke came out of his snout.
Peach and Daisy arrived and hopped off their bikes.
"Face it Bowser! You'll never win," Peach said. "Oh, but today is a different day Princess," Bowser said as he stood up. "And what do you mean by that?" Luigi asked.
Suddenly, a dark purple energy struck the ground the gang stood on and they were launched back. Mario rolled and skidded through the ground but he managed to catch himself. Everyone managed to stand up. Around the gang, tiny purple creatures came from the ground, surrounding the gang.
"What the?" Mario questioned. "What are these things Mario?" Luigi asked. "I'm not sure," Mario said.
Soon, the creatures began combining and they formed into green creatures around the size of Luigi. Then, from nowhere, The Intruder appeared.
"How do you like my gifts?" he asked. "Alright pal, I don't know who you are, or what these things are, but you got another thing coming if you're working for that turtle," Mario said.
The Intruder walked forward. His presence being one of demanding demeanor.
"You believe me working for the Koopa? On the contrary, I believe you may call this a partnership," he said. "Who are you?" Peach asked. "In my world, I am called by many names," he said as he walked around the gang, "Demon King. Lord of Darkness. The Incarnation of Darkness. But my name is one of the ages. One that strikes fear upon those who have heard its legend. The name nobody hopes to be mentioned in their very nightmares. That name is Ganondorf! And it is I who will defeat you today!"
Ganondorf imbued his own palms with a dark energy as his eyes changed from red to an evil purple and his smile was scary beyond reason.
"You wanna know something. I don't really care who you are. All I know is that you're just another bad guy I need to stop," Mario said as he charged. "Mario! Wait!" Peach yelled.
Mario charged, his hands imbued with flames. He jumped up.
"Heeyah!" he yelled.
He was to punch Ganondorf when suddenly the Demon King grabbed his fist with one hand and he dissipated his flames.
"Whoa, nobody could do that before," Luigi said with worry.
Ganondorf gave an evil smile and imbued his palm that he held Mario in with dark energy and they with a single pulse launched Mario back. Mario rolled around but caught himself with the ground again.
"Ugh," he winced. "Mario! You okay!" Luigi yelled as he went to his brother's side. "I'll be fine," Mario said.
Ganondorf looked at the gang with disgust.
"This? This is the best this world has to offer? I abhor this world. Yet, it shall be placed in its rightful place as part of a new universe. My shadow bugs know no bounds. My Primids, end their miserable lives," Ganondorf said.
The Primids' eyes flashed red as they began marching towards the gang. Mario raised his fists but he struggled a bit.
"Oh boy, this isn't good," Luigi said. "Don't worry, I got this," Mario said. "No, you're in no condition," Peach said. "I gotta fight. For all of you," Mario said. "If we're going down, I'm glad it's with you all," Daisy said.
Suddenly a small glitter of sparkle had fallen above the gang. A small star with a face appeared in the center of them and it squeaked.
"A Luma?" Peach questioned.
Suddenly more squeaks came through as Lumas fell from the sky like rain. Soon they began to surround the gang and they were covered in an ethereal light that became blinding. Then, it flashed and Ganondorf lowered his eyebrows while Bowser looked away. He opened his eyes to find the Mushroom Kingdom gang had disappeared.
"What?! Where did they go?!" Bowser yelled. "Hm, it appears they have another ally," Ganondorf said, "No matter." "No matter! Mario is gone!" Bowser yelled. "Yes, but now you have claimed this land as yours', and soon the world will be ours," Ganondorf said. "Mario is a threat! As long as he's still out there, he's going to be an issue!" Bowser yelled. "Then you send the Primids after them. After all, they are under your command as a general of the Subspace Army," Ganondorf said. "A general?" Bowser asked. "Oh Koopa Lord, there is more to this army than you have yet to understand. How far our extent goes, is yet to be determined," Ganondorf said.
Extending his arm, Ganondorf opened a portal and tilted his head to tell Bowser to follow. Bowser followed Ganondorf into the portal as it closed right behind him.
As the conquest of the Mushroom Kingdom was at its peak, across the stars lay many worlds, each with their own sets of heroes. Some heroes may be the unexpected ones as beneath a small tree lay dormant a small pink creature until he opened his eyes.
