Sunset Shimmer's Cutie Mark
One day after Sunset Shimmer's not-really-smart run in with Mountain Moron and hanging out with Tamaron, she is in her home once again.
"Oh, yesterday was once heck of a day," she thought.
While looking at herself in the mirror, Sunset Shimmer got a glimpse of her cutie mark.
"Well, that was one interesting day," she thought as she decides to look back to the day when she got her cutie mark.
At that time, Sunset Shimmer was a young pre-teen pony. She was a young, cheerful pony and she was still trying to get better at her magic ability like all unicorns do.
But for the most part, she was interested in focusing on magic based on the sun.
She's been interested in the sun since she was born. By now, it had taken her a few weeks to get it right. At the moment, she can use her magic to manipulate things.
"Here you go," Sunset Shimmer said as she used her magic to give a male Pegasus pony a glass of water.
"Thanks," the pony said. "But I wish I could do more," Sunset Shimmer muttered to herself.
As time goes on, Sunset Shimmer kept trying, and trying and trying. Although her magic works like normal, it wasn't satisfying enough for her. "Come on," moaned Sunset Shimmer.
"I don't know what that kid is trying to do," a nearby pony said. "I need to use that magic!" Sunset Shimmer thought to herself, "I'm not going to give up!" "Oh well," the nearby pony said.
So Sunset Shimmer kept on trying and trying. "Ok," she thought, "I'll give it a shot! More than once!" She nearly got it right as she used strong magic at one time.
She concentrated harder than ever until she felt a spark. "I think that's it," Sunset Shimmer said, "I think I know what to do with this magic now!"
So, she decided to use her solar magic to help a garden grow faster than normal. Sunset Shimmer first asked the pony who own this particular garden.
"I didn't ask for a fast garden growth," said the pony who owns this garden as soon as she saw Sunset Shimmer, "But oh well. Go right on ahead."
"Oh, thanks," Sunset Shimmer said and she went right on ahead with her plan. She used her magic on the garden. She concentrated her magic through the sun.
"Here it goes," Sunset Shimmer thought to herself.
In a few minutes, Sunset Shimmer had made the garden grown full term. After that, Sunset Shimmer was tired, but satisfied.
"Thanks," the garden owner pony said. "No problem," smiled Sunset Shimmer, "It was my pleasure." After she said that, a bright glow appeared on Sunset Shimmer's flank.
"Looks like you have done it," the garden pony said. "Huh?" Sunset Shimmer and she looked at her flank. Sunset Shimmer was amazed as she had earned her cutie mark in the shape of a sun.
"Wow, thought Sunset Shimmer, "This is amazing!" It had taken her weeks to accomplish it. Suddenly, a group of ponies, attracted by the glow surrounded Sunset Shimmer.
"Congratulations!" called all of the other ponies, but Sunset Shimmer paid no attention to them at all. She was more pleased with herself for earning her cutie mark.
It was nearly sundown. "So that's how it happened," Sunset Shimmer concluded.
Near midnight, she was about to go to sleep.
Then the name, Princess Celestia echoed in her mind.
"I need to find out who this Princess Celestia is," Sunset Shimmer said as she fell fast asleep.
