No Such Luck…or Destiny's Deceit?
Ch 22: Putting the Past Behind Us
It was a Monday night in Royal Woods, and tonight, everybody has to be working on their homework. People really hated this day, since they always like to you know? Just slack off, watch TV, blah blah blah…
But, it is important in our lives because we have to study and work, right? However, on these days, you can take some time to chill off in your home (only if you have a sickness or if there's bad weather outside). Well, of course, summer is the hottest time of the year (and also the greatest).
Well, it is almost June and summer starts next month. But, for now, enough chit-chat, let's get back to the story.
The Emily family and Lincoln had finished eating dinner last time. Lincoln went upstairs to do his homework while Henry took care of the blueprints downstairs.
"Mondays…" Lincoln muttered to himself as he kept doing his homework for tonight.
And so, it progresses to bedtime at 9:00. "It's bedtime, Sammy. Let's go to sleep." Henry said as he tucked Sammy in bed.
"Do we have school tomorrow?" Sammy asked, his eyes wide.
Henry chuckled and replied. "Yes, yes, we do." He said as he grabbed a storybook from the shelf. "Do you want me to read you a story?"
"Oh, yes please!" Sammy said as he laid back in his bed.
Henry opens the book and he reads aloud. "Once upon a time, there was a young prince named Allan. He loved lush green meadows and fields, as he would often go out of the kingdom walls to explore the forest. One day, he was in the woods roaming around while looking at the beautiful birds perched on various trees."
"What happened afterwards?" Sammy asked, curious.
"He was then approached by an old wizard outside of the kingdom walls. The wizard was the guardian of the forest, and he had been guarding the woods for over millions of years. He said to the boy. "Who are you, and what are you doing in my forest?" He paused. "Allan said to him. "I am Prince Allan, and I'm here to visit the forest." The wizard then told him. "You are allowed to visit my realm, but do not eat from the forbidden tree, else you would be cursed for life." Henry said as he flipped the pages. "The wizard disappeared into thin air, the prince was curious, he wanted to see why he wasn't allowed to eat from the forbidden tree. He decided to obey the wizard and went back into the kingdom walls."
Sammy was starting to fall asleep, his eyelids started drooping as he struggled to stay awake.
Henry chuckled at this. "Alright, Sam, do you want to go to sleep or continue the story?" He said, patting his son's head.
"I think I'll go to sleep for now, Daddy…" Sammy said as he laid down on his bed, "Good night."
Henry turned off the lamp and kissed his son's forehead, Lincoln slept soundly beside him. He went to his and Valerie's bedroom, he laid down next to his sleeping wife and pulled the covers as he drifted off to sleep.
The next day…
It was Tuesday, and it was, of course, Lincoln's most hated day of the week. Lincoln took the covers off of him and woke up. "It's Tuesday… come on, man…" He said, taking a towel and heading to the bathroom.
The Emily family was already at the table, eating breakfast. Lincoln came downstairs and ate his breakfast as well, he wasn't very, very happy today. It was the day Ronalda will strike him with a Sloppy Joe (in his pants lol).
"Why the long face, Lincoln?" Henry asked him.
"It's Tuesday, and here's a fun fact about me, I hate Tuesdays." Lincoln admitted.
"Why? What's so bad about Tuesday?" Valerie asked as she ate her food.
"One of my friends has a special occasion every Tuesday, and it's the tradition of putting Sloppy Joes in each other's pants." The 11-year-old chuckled. "I hate the feeling of getting a Sloppy Joe in my pants on these days."
"It's fine, Lincoln." Charlotte said, laughing softly. "Maybe it's just their way of showing love to each other, even though it's the weirdest way of doing so."
"Hmm, maybe you're right, Charlie, maybe it isn't so bad at all." He said to the teenager, smiling.
"You're welcome, and also, only my friends can call me Charlie." She said to him.
"Yeah, right, sorry."
At school…
The pains of school had started when the students headed into their classrooms for their first class of the day, Mathematics. It had been the most hated subject of many students in the school, due to how hard and 'irrelevant' the subject is. The running of the ceiling fans was the only sound heard in each classroom.
Lincoln had already decided that he had let the conflict within his family fester for too long, and that it is time to wrap this all up and tie up loose ends with his family. For now, he had forgiven his family for taking part in the bad luck circus that had happened since March.
The lunch bell rang a few minutes later, and the students quickly rushed to the cafeteria for their well-deserved break. Lincoln and Cassidy were seated together at a table.
"So, you're deciding on letting all of this slide and finally reconcile with your family?" Cassidy smiled.
"Yes, Cassie, I am planning on doing so." Lincoln said to her. "Besides, I was the one who let this snowball into a giant mess. I just wanted some time to myself, but they just couldn't give me that thing I've asked for, so I took it Lynn's accusation as you know? My ticket to freedom."
"Lincoln, listen, I know you were desperate at that time, but sometimes, you have to learn how to use your brain in these situations." Cassidy said to her friend.
"I know, thanks for the support, Cassie." Lincoln smiled at her.
"No problem, Lincoln." Cassidy said as she hugged Lincoln.
To be continued in Ch 23…
A/N: I know the chapter is short, but here something I want to tell you, my dear readers:
1. This story is almost coming to an end.
2. I'm working on the continuation of the movie I made that was adapted from the Lincoln's Night at Flumpty's series.
3. I have adopted a new story from Pikapikauser4788, and I'm going to start working on it as soon as I can.
4. I'm now working on a story that is original, that is, of my intellectual property.
That's all I have to tell you, may you have a good day/afternoon/night.
