CHAPTER 38
"Lethe, you out there somewhere in this fog?" asked Lyre.
Lyre was searching for her sister in the foggy conditions.
"Lyre!" yelled Lethe when she found Lyre. "What on earth are you doing here?!" she asked in exclamation. "You're just sneaking around when you are supposed to be in position!" she yelled.
"I was just–Oh, forget it." said Lyre. "I seriously do not care what happens to you!" yelled Lethe.
Back with Micaiah's troops, the Black Knight later showed up. Micaiah noticed him coming, but the Black Knight never bothered to ask why Micaiah was fighting in such a harsh and bloody battle. Still, Micaiah was happy to see the Black Knight again.
At one point, it was useless. The Gallian soldiers kept coming back; it didn't matter how many the Dawn Brigade took down. If they kept fighting, both sides would face major difficulties.
As for the Gallians, Lethe could not find an opening.
"They must have a seasoned veteran commander or something." said Ranulf.
Micaiah then thought it was best for the Dawn Brigade to pull a cease-fire on the Laguz Alliance.
"Yes, Micaiah." said Bri.
However, as Bri mounted on her wolf again, Ranulf came to the Dawn Brigade's attention.
"I've been smelling Daein blood around here." said Ranulf. "Who are you?"
"I'm Micaiah, the leader of the Dawn Bridage and a Daein royal soldier." said Micaiah as she introduced herself to Ranulf.
"Wait a second, she's in charge?!" asked Lethe.
"King Pelleas, Fourteenth King of Daein, has answered Begnion's request to help fight the Laguz Alliance." said Micaiah.
"What?!" asked Luganda the tiger laguz.
"There is no need for victory. Shedding more blood is worthless and useless." said Micaiah. "Please! You can see me in these times! I ask you all to surrender! There is no need to shed more blood on the battlefield!" yelled Micaiah.
"Hey! We'd rather die than surrender!" yelled Lethe. "What are you, a tiny beorc, trying to say?!"
"Listen, Lethe, what lies behind you? The Begnion Army, right? Right." said Bri. "And what lies in front of you? The army of Daein!" yelled Bri.
"Wait, Bri?!" asked Ranulf. "What are you doing working for these people?!" asked Ranulf as he recognized Bri.
"No time to explain about it, Ranulf. We are in an age of war right now." said Bri.
"You've basically nowhere to run, Laguz Alliance." said Micaiah. "Surrender while there is a chance." she said.
"Well, then, looks like we have no choice than to chase you down like cattle." said Ranulf. "If you are going to give us orders like that, it's not going to happen!" yelled Ranulf.
"What in the goddess' name are you saying?!" asked Micaiah.
"Yeah, what kind of threat was that?!" asked Bri.
"Hmph." grunted Bri.
"Get back, Micaiah!" yelled Sothe. "That roar of the lion laguz…It's their general!" he yelled.
"Yeah, they are much stronger than the cat or tiger laguz." said Bri.
Everyone began to run for the safety of their lives.
