Chika Son: Daughter of Goku

Chapter 2: Survival of the Fittest

Piccolo stared down at Gohan and Chika.

The Son twins were heart broken upon learning that their father sacrificed himself to stop their evil uncle.

Though they became a bit relived upon knowing that their father will come back once their friends found the Dragon Balls to wish him back.

"Your father and I barely managed against the Saiyan that we face off today."Piccolo informed sternly."But now we learned two more Saiyans that are stronger are on their way to Earth. They'll be here in one year. We won't be able to beat them alone. That's why you two are going to train to fight by our side."

Gohan gulped nervously while Chika grinned in excitement.

"Whoa."Chika chuckled, the grief of losing her father slowly vanishing."Really?"

"But we can't fight with grown-ups."Gohan informed in fear."We're just kids."

"Neither of you may not be aware of it, but there's actually powers hidden within you both. But if you two learned to control them, both of you could be the strongest fighters on Earth."

"But I-"Gohan started.

"That's awesome."Chika remarked, interrupting her older twin brother."So where do we begin?"

A smirk appeared on Piccolo's face.

"One more thing, I don't attend to to go soft on you two as Goku does."Piccolo warned smugly."The first thing you two will have to do is learn to take care yourselves. If you two can do that for six months, I'll teach you both how to fight."

(2 Months Later)

Chika panted as she ran as fast as she could in the deep dark woods.

The four year old girl wore a orange gi and black belt with a black undershirt, blue wristbands and black boots with yellow lasing. Her black hair was loose and she didn't have her Saiyan tail anymore.

Behind her was a pack of wolves chasing after her, their yellow eyes glowing deadly and their fangs were sharp as small knives.

The wild dogs were eager to catch the young girl and rip her to shreds for coming into their territory.

Despite her pursuers, Chika kept running without looking back.

It was the middle of the night, but she was full of energy despite being past her bed time.

A small sneer appeared on the young girl's face as she noticed a dug pit near by and did a big jump to avoid falling into it.

The pack of wolves, however, weren't so lucky and ended up fall into the pit, only to splatter dead upon falling into the trap.

Chika let out a small sigh of relief.

"It worked."Chika remarked.

Gohan came out of the bushes, revealing to be wearing the same outfit as his younger twin sister and didn't have his Saiyan tail anymore either.

"You okay, Chika?"Gohan questioned.

Chika chuckled in delight.

"Okay, big brother? Even better."Chika responded."I caught dinner for us."

Gohan followed Chika's gaze and stared at the dead wolves in the pit with a startled expression.

"We're seriously going to be eating wolves?"Gohan questioned.

A scoff escaped from Chika's mouth.

"Hey. We've been eating dinosaur meat for the last few weeks."Chika informed with a frown."Time to try something new."

Chika went down the pit to toss the five dead wolves she caught back up as Gohan backed away a bit.

"You prepare the bonfire."Chika instructed as Gohan handed her his sword."And I'll prepare our dinner. Be sure to bring back some big branches this time."

"Right."Gohan answered.

Gohan headed off to get some branches while Chika used her older twin brother's swords to start shaving off the wolves fur before she began slicing the dead animals parts into bits.

Once the bonfire was ready and the wolf meat looked edible, Gohan carefully moved the stick that he held that the roasted animal part was impaled on and handed it to Chika's awaiting hand.

"I don't know how tasty this thing is, but ju…"Gohan started.

As soon as the stick was in her grasp, Chika opened her mouth and proceeded to devour the food.

Her teeth worked the cooked meat like a blender, tearing off one chunk after another.

Chika ravaged what little remained of the roasted creature on the stick, scarfing, and gnashing as if it had been a whole week since she had eaten anything.

Gohan uncomfortably watch Chika eat while he ate in a proper manner.

"Seriously, Chika."Gohan murmured while nibbling on the cooked meat."Your table manners are terrible."

A scoff escaped from Chika's mouth.

"Gohan, come on. We don't need table manners."Chika informed with a frown."We're learning how to survive, so that Piccolo can train us to fight the Saiyans."

Gohan became silent for a moment as he slowly swallowed down the cooked meat on the bone stick he held.

"Chika."Gohan spoke up, earning Chika's attention."Do you think we'll see our dad again?"

A small smile appeared on Chika's face.

"Of course we will, Gohan."Chika assured brightly."Our dad cares about us and mum more than anything. If Piccolo said our friends are looking for the Dragon Balls to bring him back, we have to believe him."

"And do you think we'll be able to defeat the Saiyans with dad and Piccolo?"Gohan questioned.

"I don't have the answer for that, Gohan."Chika answered."But then again, we happen to be half-Saiyans. So, maybe we will stand a chance against those baddies."

Gohan nodded in agreement.

"So do you like the dinner I caught?"Chika assumed.

"It's actually not bad."Gohan remarked with a small smile as he ate a bit more of the cooked meat."Exactly what part I'm eating?"

"It must be the brain or the stomach."Chika sneered.

Gohan nearly choked in disgust before swallowing down the meat he was chewing.

"Can our next meal be based on fish, Chika?"Gohan suggested.

Chika shrugged. "Sure."

"Come on, Chika!"

"Hurry up as well, Gohan!"

Gohan and Chika were in the middle of running off from the town square of a nearby town to join their new friends, a group of orphans.

The Son twins had distracted the adults in the bazaar gathering around them while the other children proceed to steal food from the nearby stands.

They escaped the final leg on bicycles as they are being chased by a police officer on a hover-scooter.

The children panicked as the officer gained ground on them, but his pursuit was stopped when he crashed into a stand selling flowers.

Chika couldn't help but pant in relief as she, Rom and Yordon flee from the policemen using their bicycles.

"That was fun wasn't it?"Rom asked.

"Yeah."Gohan agreed with a nod.

"Who needs parents?"Yordon remarked."We're better off on our own."

"That's right."Ena agreed.

"We're a family together."Jinku added.

Both Gohan and Chika felt a little sad at their new friends' declaration.

The two siblings didn't really tell their new friends that they actually had parents to look out them.

The Son twins and the orphans soon returned to their hideout; a run-down old house with a few meagre decorations and only a handful of intact pieces of furniture.

Upon surviving the storm at sea despite losing their boat and being taken in by the group of orphans, Gohan and Chika learned a gigantic tsunami destroyed the town and killed almost everyone two years.

Including the orphans' parents.

That was why the group of orphans banded together in order to survive.

When night time fell, Gohan and Chika weren't able to sleep and saw the other children sleeping peacefully.

Making sure that they were truly asleep, the Son twins grabbed their belongings and walked out into the night.

"Hey, Gohan and Chika."A male voice spoke up.

Gohan and Chika looked up to see Pigero, who was outside keeping watch while sitting on top of a tree.

"Hi, Pigero."Chika replied with a small wave."Whatcha doing?"

"I'm on look out."Pigero exclaimed."Sometimes the workers from the home come at night. I'm on night duty since Rom fell down from this tree. What about you two?"

Pigero jumped down from the tree he was on.

"You both must have something on your minds to be up this late."Pigero assumed.

"The truth is me and my sister are not orphans."Gohan declared."We have a mother and we were actually on our way home to her."

"Oh, so you two have a home, huh?"

Gohan and Chika turned around to see Rom, Chico, Ena, Jinku, Hacchi and Yordon have all woken up as well as heard their conversation.

An apologetic look appeared on Chika's face.

"We're sorry, we didn't say anything before."Chika apologised sadly.

"There's nothing you have to apologise for, Chika."Pigero assured with a small smirk.

"I guess I jumped to the wrong conclusion."Rom stated."Where is your house?"

"In a bamboo grove on Mount Paozu."Gohan admitted.

"Mount Paozu?"Pigero repeated in surprise."That's not far from here."

"Oh, wow."Gohan responded."Really?"

"Then can you take us there?"Chika suggested.

"No problem."Pigero assured."I'll show you tomorrow."

This caused Gohan and Chika to become happy.

"Whoa/Thanks!"Gohan and Chika answered in unison.

Jinku looked at Gohan and Chika.

"So tell us, Gohan and Chika."Jinku insisted."What is your mum like?"

"Well, she's sweet and pretty."Gohan exclaimed.

"Though everyday, she tells me to study, study and it actually drives me a little crazy sometimes."Chika added."But she means well."

"I would like to study if I had the chance."Rom remarked.

"It does to me."Chico admitted.

"It's not that bad."Ena assured.

"We get to play."Gohan informed.

"Whoa, really?"Chico asked excitedly.

"But not enough though."Chika declared with her arms folded."Then again, better than nothing."

"You know before the tsunami, this city around us was 100 years old."Hacchi declared."Though the kids during that time didn't have to go to school. They worked on a farm."

"Whoa."Rom chuckled."Cool."

"It would've been nice to go to school before the tsunami happened."Jinku admitted.

"Yeah."Pigero agreed with a frown."At least, things would've been different for us."

"What would be doing differently?"Rom questioned.

"For starters, we may have ended up building a cool home for orphans."Pigero suggested.

"I agree."Yordon agreed."We wouldn't have to deal with those jerks trying to take us away."

"Also, no cars and high ways."Hacchi added while shaking his head."Nope."

"Though having our own ice cream van would be nice."Chico giggled.

This caused Gohan, Chika, Pigero, Rom, Ena, Jinku, Hacchi and Yordon to laugh lightly at Chico's declaration.

"Here's an idea."Pigero suggested."How about we all drive to Gohan and Chika's house tomorrow?"

"Cool!"Chico cheered while waving her hands up."That would be great!"

Both Gohan and Chika smiled gratefully upon seeing that their new friends all wanted to help them go back home.

The following morning, the Son twins and their friends all lie in wait for the people from 'the home' to come again, but they grow anxious as they were late in coming that day.

"They're late today."Rom commented."Maybe they must've given up."

Suddenly, Yordon spotted the black van from the day before and sounds the alarm.

"Here they come!"Yordon warned.

"Places, everyone!"Pigero ordered.

When the adults leave their vehicle, they were immediately bombarded with rocks and pebbles shot by the children.

With the men distracted, Pigero pulled the woman out of the car and commandeered the vehicle, then signalled to the other children who run from their hiding places and head towards the van.

As soon as their friends were piled in the van, Gohan and Chika glanced at Pigero.

"That's everyone, Pigero!"Gohan declared.

"Get us out of here!"Chika insisted.

Gohan and Chika tossed a few rocks at the upcoming social workers before shutting the entrance at the back of the van closed.

Pigero started up the van and began driving away from the run-down old house.

As they drove away the nearby city, a scowl escaped from Pigero's mouth upon seeing police cars driving by from the small window screen.

"Rats!"Pigero muttered in annoyance."It's the cops!"

Rom, Chico, Ena, Jinku, Hacchi and Yordon all became nervous at Pigero's declaration.

Knowing she had to protect her friends, Chika glanced at the sword that was safely held on Gohan's back.

"Gohan, let me borrow your sword."Chika instructed.

"What for, Chi?"Gohan asked.

Chika frowned. "Just trust me."

Gohan handed Chika his sword before she placed the sheath on her back and went on the empty seat next to Pigero and opened the door, shocking her companions.

"Chika!"Pigero scowled."What are you-"

"Just giving them a nice reflection of the sun."Chika sneered with a mischievous smile.

Chika carefully held her brother's sword out to make it reflect the sun's light and hit the police officers goggles, blinding them.

This caused two of the hover-scooters to hit each other and get left behind.

Chika then used the sword to carefully slash a tree that the van was passing by before shutting the second door of the van closed.

Seeing the falling tree, the three remaining police officers panicked and stopped their hover-scooters before they could hit the tree.

Chika handed Gohan his sword back as the orphan clan cheered at her.

"Way da go, Chika!"Ena praised.

"You saved us!"Hacchi chuckled.

"That was awesome!"Rom remarked.

Pigero smirked. "Hey. That was impressive."

Chika blushed and smiled shyly in respond.

"Oh, it was nothing."Chika murmured.

Once the van arrived on the slopes of Mt. Paozu, Pigero and the rest of the orphans set off to start their new lives as Gohan and Chika bid them farewell.

"Bye, Gohan and Chika!"Chico said happily."Thank you!"

"Both of you take care of yourselves!"Pigero instructed.

Gohan and Chika waved farewell to their new friends.

"Bye, guys!"Gohan declared.

"Hope to see you all again someday!"Chika chuckled.

Once their friends were out of sight, Gohan and Chika began to climb the side of Mount Paozu, eagerly energetic to see their mother again.

Once they have climbed the side, the Son twins ran a path that they had found which ended up taking them towards their home.

After a few hours of running and climbing, Gohan and Chika rejoiced when they finally came within viewing distance of their home.

Even managing to see their mother through their front window.

The duo began to make the final steps of their journey, but began thinking about the orphans, who continue to be brave even without their parents.

After they think about them and the many hardships they have faced, Gohan and Chika ran back into the forest out of sadness for them.

After running as far as they can, they finally stopped near a big tree nearby a small patch of flowers.

"Gohan, we…we can't go home yet."Chika murmured softy.

Gohan dried away the tears that were coming out of their eyes.

"I know, Chika."Gohan stated with a firm tone."Not today."

The Son twins suddenly became alarmed when they felt they were being watched and saw Piccolo looking down at them.

"What is your mission!?"Piccolo demanded."Say it!"

Brave looks appeared on Gohan and Chika's faces.

"To defeat the Saiyans and to save the earth!"Gohan and Chika declared in unison.

"Then let's go back!"Piccolo stated.

Gohan nodded. "Right!"

"Okay!"Chika answered.

On hearing this, Piccolo takes the Son twins back to the island where they would continue their martial arts training.
